Hello Greg, and greetings from Finland! :-)

I have noticed recently that I have started to get VERY interested in "Gargoyles". Haven't seen much of the series yet, but from what I have seen and heard, it looks awesome.

There is a problem though. I have no idea if the DVD's have ever been released outside US. If there was an European release, I would probably had already got it. I would import if it was a possibility; however, I strongly suspect that the DVD's are region locked and won't work on European DVD players.

Who could be an appropriate person to ask about this? I know you aren't directly working as a Disney representative, but I thought you could possibly know some contact to ask about this.

Also, do you know if the series is watchable on some video-on-demand service? I would really love to see more about the series.

Thank you already for your time.

Greg responds...

I'd love to be able to help you, but I don't know who to contact specifically, aside from just reaching out to Walt Disney Home Entertainment.

And I don't know of any streaming service, etc., that has the series. Wish I did.

Can you please contact Buena Vista Home Entertainment and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment to ask them to release Gargoyles on Blu Ray?

Greg responds...

No.

Hi, Greg. Gotta question for you: Since Disney cancelled the release of season 2 part 2 due to low sales back in day, and as fans, we openly support the release of the DVD when it finally came out in 2013 to show how popular and profitable Gargoyles is and can be, I'm curious to know know how the sales went.

As Disney only cares for profit nowadays, then it stands to reason that they be considering Gargs for a reboot or SOMETHING is the sales are a bit hit, right? Do you think it's possible for you learn how the sales went, just to see the level of interest for your own show, financially-wise? I got my copies as soon it wasn't in the $100s after its release.

Greg responds...

I don't know how the sales went. I don't work at Disney, and that's not information they share with me. You're as likely to be able to obtain that info, as I am.

When you say, "As Disney only cares for profit NOWADAYS...", I balk. Disney the company only EVER cared about profits, at least since they became a publicly held company (before I was born). But various talented people at Disney - then and now - have always cared about more than that. It's no different now then it has been for DECADES.

And, to be clear, I don't want a reboot. I want to do more of what we were doing. I don't want to start it over, which is what a reboot would be.

I recently got Spirits of Ash and Foam and ALL of the Gargoyles DVDs. All of it was perfection. Thank you for being awesome.

While combing through the archives, I discovered the names of some of the gargoyles of the Avalon Clan: Archangel, Azrael, Michael, Raphael, and Uriel. What I could not find was a reference as to what name went with which gargoyle. So my question is this: are any of the names assigned to a particular garg from Avalon? Or were these just names chosen without a face?

PS. It hits me now that I'm proofreading that it sounds like I'm trying to get on your good side before I asked my question. Not my intent. But whatever.

Greg responds...

No spoilers.

But I'm glad you liked the stuff, especially Spirits.

Hello there~
First of all, I just recently re-discovered Gargoyles. I watched some episodes as a kid, but after rewatching the whole series again (minus TGC because I can't find that ANYWHERE), I only now as a 21 year old understand how fantastic that show really was. I'm only sad I'm just now finding this out, just to see that it was cancelled for various reasons.

However, I still want to support this series as much as I can. I just bought the 2nd part of season 2 from Walmart (was very shocked to see that in the Disney section!), and I've recently discovered you made a comic series that takes place after the end of season 2. I want to read this so bad, but this is such an old series now that any trace of scans are all gone due to the sites being dead. And unless I used my credit, I couldn't even afford the comics because Clan Building 1 alone goes for almost $200 now...

Sorry for the splurge of info, but I would like to know if you know of another way I can read these comics? I know I'll buy them someday, but for now I just want to read them - I'm really interested in it!

Anyway, hope life's going well, and would love to see a Gathering maybe in Wisconsin sometime! ^^

Greg responds...

I can't recommend Goliath Chronicles. We don't consider it canon.

As for the comics, I don't have a good answer for you now. They're just flat-out out of print. We're trying to rectify it, but unless you want to spend bucks on used copies - or can borrow 'em from a friend, you're just out of luck for the time being. That does NOT make me happy, as I want fans to be able to read them. But there's not much I can do about it now.

We don't really do Gatherings anymore. But I was in Madison for a convention last summer. Were you there?

Hey Greg, long time fan here, first time asking a question here.

Gargoyles was one of those shows I really enjoy watching with my Mom, and we both enjoy it (as do we love Star Trek: The Next Generation, amusingly enough). I've already pre-ordered Season Two Part Two so we can rewatch the whole show together, but enjoying the comic together is a little tricky (she's not much of a reader).

I had wondered this for a long time anyways, but have there been any considerations (official or otherwise) of doing an audiobook or something akin to it (maybe a voiced motion comic?) for the Gargoyles SLG comic with the original voice cast? I can easily hear their voices in my head, but it would be a whole other experience to have them do it in the modern day.

Thanks for your time Greg, and I hope my asking this isn't a bother. I'll continue to support this series I love, and anything you do (as I always end up enjoying your work)!

Greg responds...

I'd love to do those stories as AudioPlays, and the subject has come up on occasion. I wouldn't rule out the possibility, but there are no current plans.

Hi Greg,
Having recently purchased Gargoyles Season 2 vol. 2, I just wanted to say I'm very pleased to have the opportunity to revisit the series from beginning to end (and finally "retire" my bootleg copy of these episodes).

I'm nearly through the season 2 vol. 1 set and am really enjoying your intros for each episode and commentary for city of stone. I was disappointed (but not surprised) to see that none of these features exist for the recently released vol. 2 set.

My question is, have you ever considered recording commentaries/intros for this set, (i.e. audio recordings/podcasts) and posting them online for listening alongside viewing?

Your insight and commentary provides so much additional richness to what already is a series rich in depth, lore and multi-layers.

While I doubt you have the time nor inclination to do so, as fan of the series since it aired 20 years ago, I am once again enjoying it (likely even more so now) and look forward to introducing Gargoyles to a new, young generation of future Gargoyle fans.

Thanks and gratitude!

Greg responds...

I don't have the technical know-how or capability to do that.

Hey Greg, I just wanted to say I saw the Gargoyles DVDs at Walmart yesterday, so if anyone wants a copy they might be able to find it now. I never got a chance to buy them when I was younger, so I was incredibly glad to finally be able to own them. Thank you so much for creating such an amazing series!

(And The Mirror is also one of my favorite episodes, so I was happy to see that it was one of yours too!)

Greg responds...

Cool. Your post was back in March, but as I understand it, Walmart has it now too, with a new better-looking cover. As always, I urge fans whenever it's financially POSSIBLE for them, to vote with their wallets in order to send the message to Disney that this is a property they should be doing more with.

Is there a viewing order for Gargoyles that differs from the airing order?
You said that the airing order hadn't aired a single episode out of order in a quote here:
http://www.gargoyles-fans.org/reviews/index.htm
But I believe that was before season 2 was finished.
I'm just about to start season 2 and wanted to clarify this before I got too far in.

Thanks! And I should have another question on a completely different topic in a couple of minutes.

Greg responds...

Well, by now, you've probably viewed everything. (In any case, I hope you haven't been waiting six months for this response, as there are many other resources where this information is available.)

A couple episodes did air out of order the first time through. But the DVDs are all in the correct order.

The correct airing order is available at http://gargwiki.net/Episode_Guide.
