If Guardian (Jim Harper) is a clone of the original Speedy, which I'm assuming means they are genetically identical, why is the Roy clone of speedy a good amount shorter than Jim Harper even though at start of Invasion he is 23-24 and approximately a full gown adult? Shouldn't they have ended up at the same height or does the cloning process stunt growth after it is done?

Greg responds...

Fair question that I should have - but never have - thought of before. And I honestly don't know the in-universe answer. Open to suggestions.

Gallifrey One 2015

My next convention appearance is at GALLIFREY ONE 2015, a Doctor Who Convention in Los Angeles.

What does Greg Weisman have to do with Doctor Who, you ask?

Well, nothing really, unless you count being a fan myself as having something to do with it, but I will be doing a number of things while I'm there that aren't Doctor Who related, because, well, because as my friend Chris Jones says, "They keep letting us."

Here's my schedule for Valentine's Day, i.e. Saturday, February 14, 2015:

Autographs - Saturday, February 15, 1:00pm-2:00pm, Autograph Alley
Kaffeeklatsch - Saturday, February 15, 3:00pm-4:00pm, Board Room
A Day in the Life of a TV Writer/Producer - Saturday, February 15, 4:00pm-5:00pm, Program D
Women of Young Justice - Saturday, February 15, 6:00pm-7:00pm, Program D
Young Justice Meet-Up - Saturday, February 15, 7:00pm-8:00pm, Program D

The Women of Young Justice is likely to be a real treat. There's more info (and a terrific graphic) on Chris' Tumbler here:
http://christopherjonesart.tumblr.com/post/110749267743/so-some-of-you-know-greg-weisman-and-i-have-been

But to sum up, we've got:

Stephanie Lemelin - Voice of Artemis
Kelly Hu - Voice of Cheshire
Vanessa Marshall - Voice of Black Canary
Masasa Moyo - Voice of Bumblebee
Lolita Ritmanis - Composer
Greg Weisman - Writer/Producer
Christopher Jones - Comic Book Artist

After the panel, we'll have a more informal meet-up where folks can get a picture taken, an autograph or just chat with Chris and myself (and maybe a couple of the other guests).

As you can see, earlier in the day (and maybe at the Meet-Up), I'll be signing (for free) and selling signed copies of my novels RAIN OF THE GHOSTS and SPIRITS OF ASH AND FOAM and copies of selected animations teleplays (including GARGOYLES and YOUNG JUSTICE). Scripts are $20 cash. The novels are $10 each, but if you purchase both, I'll throw in signed copies of the original RAIN OF THE GHOSTS development artwork by artist Kuni Tomita for free, as well.

Hope to see a few of you there!

was superman the first leader of the justice league? i mean his designation is 01 and in all incarnations of the league i've seen he's always considered the first among equals.

if true when and how long was he the leader? (all only if you feel comfortable answering however)

Greg responds...

I don't consider him first among equals nor, I would think, does he. He was the first to arrive at the battle against the Appelaxians. That's where the 01 designation comes from. As for whether or not he was the first leader: NO SPOILERS. ;)

Hi Greg. I've been a big fan since the first episode of Gargoyles. :)

I have a couple of questions regarding your wonderful version of the Martians.

1) Do your Martians lay eggs? I remember they did in the Barsoom stories, and their rather reptilian appearance and large families makes me wonder.

2) My second question about identity politics and cultural norms on Mars-16. How common is it for denizens of Mars-16 to adopt a single non-default form as the primary expression of their identity, as M'gann has?

J'onn and B'arzz O'oomm seemed nonplussed by M'gann's choice of form (aside from B'arzz's comment about her passing as Green), so I got the impression that it isn't something that's violating some great taboo. But is such individual self-determination considered odd?

Thank you.

Greg responds...

1. No spoilers.

2. It's not unheard of, but fairly uncommon, since their psychic abilities render any false physical form obvious.

Did you happen to see the reinterpration of famous comic covers on CBR today? There is one that was just amazing which you may appreciate.

Greg responds...

I did, yeah. It's flattering... and a little ominous.

Of course, the reason listed for YJ's demise isn't quite right. If I had to (oversimplify and) pick only one cause, it was the failure of the toy line.

Hi Greg,

I loved your work on Young Justice and I would love to see more of your work (especially if it involves DC).

1. I wanted to ask if DC or any higher ups would approve it, would you ever consider writing about the formation of the Justice League on Earth-16? I would love to hear about the formation of the Justice League and their battle with the seven Appelaxian invaders.

2. I also wanted to ask where Blue Beetle's physical constructs came from? Are they organic materials produced by the bettle?

Thank you for keeping up with your questions! I raelly appreciate all of the answers you provided to flesh out Earth-16 and I hope to keep up with your future work.

Greg responds...

1. Love to tell this story.

2. They're built from nanotechnology.

1. For each member of the Team that knew Jason, and considering Jason's personality, what were their opinions about Jason BEFORE and AFTER his unfortunate end?

2. You explained how the Reach was able to cause the Apocalypse by using multiple tools of manipulation to reach their goals; that probably includes Blue Beetle being put "on mode" if Impulse did not intervene. Aside from that, were there other possible factors (such as the high secrecy of Aqualad's mission, the troubled relationship between Team members such as Superboy and Miss Martian or Mal and Bumblebee, or perhaps the Justice League being found guilty in the original timeline without evidence to prove their innocence) that could have resulted in the Apocalypse too?

3. If you were to return to the Earth-16 universe, but not returning directly back to Young Justice, what kind of things would you try to explore?

Greg responds...

1. No spoilers.

2. Yes, but I'll leave that to your imagination. It didn't happen.

3. Tons. Like to do some stuff set in the forties in particular. But the whole timeline is worth exploring, and, of course, I'd like to do a lot more with the cast of YJ.
