Greg B.: I haven't been in here in a few days. But, yeah, I can try to do that sometime this week (certainly not today- way too busy).

Patrick- Wonder if Xanatos "Coyote" robot isn't also built in part by Acme. Same quality workmanship. Plus we do have Mr. Acme building Vinnie's pie shooter. It all makes perfect sense! We need Gargoyles to move over to Warner Brothers!

I just assumed there was an abandoned gun factory.

PAUL> Maybe you missed it, but until "City of Stone," Demona and Xanatos were allied. I am pretty sure that she was able to easily get weapons from Xanatos.

Where exactly does (or did) Demona get her guns? I know that Owen said that 37 of Xanatos' particle-beam emitters were unaccounted for at the end of "Deadly Force" (although Broadway likely destroyed two of those), and I always thought that Demona's laser gun was one of those missing guns. Then again, it's a laser gun, not a particle-beam emitter, as far as I know. (Hudson was able to deflect Demona's shots with his sword in "Long Way to Morning," and in "Avalon" Goliath notes that many of the Avalon Clan had "laser burns," which is a far cry from what Dracon and the gang could do in their target practice in "Deadly Force.")

Of course, Owen also said that the guns were of a variety of "sizes, styles, and power ranges," so I guess it's possible that Demona's gun had a lower power range than the Dracon's.

Hey JURGAN! If you're reading.

I recently re-read your excellent essay on the nature of the Weird Sisters' spell linking Demona and Macbeth, as well as Greg's reply saying that you're on the right track.

Well, turns out the GargWiki needs an article on that link, what it is, what it isn't, and I was wondering if you'd like to tackle it?

Maybe Elisa should just quit the NYPD and join Starfleet instead.

For those of you speculating on Greg W. vs. the new series Young Justice. Yes, he's been working on it for quite some time. They've already recorded a handful of episodes and the art looks amazing. I think you guys are going to like it. ;)

@Greg - It was a special bazooka like "Mr. Carter" that only Demona could fire, so it was safe for whatever kids ended up finding it.
Anthony Tini

Algernon> Indeed.
Kerry (Kth) Boyd

KERRY> I think the reason Spielberg went with the six foot Raptors is probably the same as why he exaggerated their intelligence so much. He wanted to humanise then slightly, which is probably why the JP Raptors are so creepy. Sure T-Rex may swallow you whole but you don't have to look him in the eye before he disembowels you.
Algernon

Algernon> That's why I put in that part about the movie's raptors not being an entirely accurate representation. :P

I wonder how many other weapons (and other odd things) have been left lying around in public places in the show... though technically explainable through out-of-universe reasons, it would be nice to have an in-universe one. LOL

Kerry (Kth) Boyd

GREG B> Well Elisa was seriously sleep deprived at the time. Take it from me, that can mess with a person's judgement. It's kinda like a non-fun version of being drunk.
Algernon

Maybe the animators had forgotten by that point about the bazooka.

Awesome! GW answered my question about Nashville (even though it was just an answer to one of them)! So Nashville is at least bilingual. Will this tidbit of info appear in the GargWiki?

BISHANSKY - Thanks. I'm afraid I'm not much of an expert on high-tech weaponry.

(The Weird Sisters must still have stopped somewhere along the way from Macbeth's mansion to the barge for their rendezvous with the Archmage, since Demona's not carrying any weaponry at the end of "High Noon". Of course, an even bigger sign that the Sisters' meeting with the Archmage in "Avalon Part Two" didn't come immediately after the end of "High Noon" on their timeline is that Demona's in human form when the Sisters come for her, but has reverted to gargoyle form when they come to the barge.)

Todd Jensen

Demona can lose all the guns she wants and no one's ever going to raise a fuss with her. Elisa, on the other hand... I'd imagine she'd have a lot of explaining to do about crushed and/or missing service issue sidearms.

Dangit, I forgot the slash in my last post, which ruined my little joke with the spoiler text. Sigh... computers have thwarted me again...
Jurgan - [jurgan6 at yahoo dot com]

Konnichiwa, C-Diz! Is the cookie tray loaded for our newest [SPOILER]prisoner[SPOILER] member?

Elisa losing guns at random reminds me of Xanatos's bad luck with lamps. In The Edge, after Xanatos gets done taunting Goliath at the castle, Goliath screams in anger, storms off, and then... breaks a lamp. Why does he do this? Well, he's angry, and needs to hit something, but it accomplishes absolutely nothing. That's always been incredibly funny to me- I can't do anything to Xanatos, but I can break his lamp!

Not too long ago, I was rewatching The Cage. Talon finds out Sevarius didn't really die. He marches up to Xanatos's desk to confront him, and... slaps his lamp off the desk. I about died laughing at that one, and had to rewind to make sure I'd seen it right. What's with the lamps?

Good to see Greg W. getting work. I guess I'll check it out, but I've never been a big DC fan. Spider-Man's always been my favorite superhero, which is why I was so jazzed about Spectacular (especially after I quit the comics cold turkey after One More Day). Still, while I'm not interested in getting into DC's canon, I'm willing to read/watch discrete stories about their characters if I have reason to think they'll be good. I give credit to The Dark Knight as being a better movie on its own terms than the Spider-Man films (though I loved the first two of those immensely). So I'll likely end up watching it.

I get home from work around 12am so it's hard for me to have a "show" to come home to and watch. But my folks have direct TV and we get the Disney XD channel and at 1am M-F they play Gargoyles! It's awesome. I haven't seen the show since I was a kid so it's eye opening to see it now that I am 24. I can't believe how intense this show was and how much symbolism is in it. Especially the relationship between Goliath and Elisa. It like watching a whole new show for me. I am addicted now and I am soo buying the DVDs! Maybe even the comics :)

TODD> <<Maybe the Weird Sisters somehow recovered it; we know that Demona was using it (or a similar gun) during the attack on Avalon in her next appearance in the series.>>

Look at the entry, two different guns entirely. One was a bazooka, the other a particle beam cannon.

Elisa just left a gun designed to blow up tanks on the ground. Bad cop! ;)

Nice to see Greg working on a new show, I'm especially glad to hear that he's going to be an active member of the main creative staff rather then just freelancing the odd script now and then. Hopefully the Distinguished Competition will show Mr. Weisman more appreciation then Marvel has.
Algernon

Young Justice> I'm guessing Greg getting the job on Young Justice happened earlier than now. I could be wrong, but if the show is scheduled to air in the 2010-2011 season, I would think that work on the series would have started already. Might be that Greg couldn't talk about it until the show was officially announced.

I believe Greg said at one point that the problem with having a huge gap between season of a show - as there would have been if SS-M got a third season - is that no one from the crew or cast can really afford to sit around waiting for the go-ahead on the new show. The longer it takes for a new season to get the greenlight, the slimmer the chances that everyone who worked on the previous seasons will still be available. Again, I could be wrong, but my guess is that this announcement coming so soon after the news of SS-M's demise is just coincidence.

Demonskrye - [<---A Goofy Movie at The Ink and Pixel Club]

Cool, it's great he's getting work so soon after TSSM finally fizzled. It looks like he's sharing a 2nd tier producer spot with Brandon Vietti, both under Sam Register. I wonder how much writing he'll be doing.

Algernon's comment about Norman Osborn: One of the neat things about Dark Reign is that it gives Osborn the chance to expand his horizons beyond tormenting a twenty nine year old who still lives with his mom.

KERRY> actually I think Utahraptor actually goes to the other extreme in that it's way to big to really pass for a JP Raptor, although given that Utahraptors probably evolved from a much smaller species it highly likely that six foot raptors did exist at some point.

The thing a lot of people don't realise is that the known fossil record probably doesn't account for more then a tiny percentage of all animal species to have ever walked the earth, and a lot of the ones that do make it into the record are only known from a tooth or piece of leg bone.

Algernon

JP "Velociraptors" = Utahraptor

Robert Bakker was one of the consultants for the movie's dinosaurs, and some of the other experts were perturbed that Spielberg's raptors were too big. That there wasn't actual fossil evidence to support the 6 foot predators, though there wasn't really a reason they couldn't have existed. Likely they didn't really look much like they did in the movie, either, but that's beside the point. :P

Utahraptor was discovered while the movie was still in pre-production, with Mr. Bakker exclaiming that they'd found Spielberg's raptor. LOL (source is the foreword to Bakker's book, Raptor Red)

Greg: That reminds me of a running gag between me and some friends of mine. A few years ago, I spent several months going through the entire series with them, because they'd never seen it. And we decided that whenever there was some random destruction on the show, some orphans got hurt. Like in "Her Brother's Keeper," when Hyena and Jackal are pursuing Xanatos in their copter, and they shoot those missiles that wind up missing their mark, we joked that the missiles probably hit an orphanage. Funny "Gargoyles" observation of the day. I'm working on a new GargWiki entry, humorously titled: "Demona's Perpetual and Astoundingly Impressive Supply of Heavy Artillery"

And, when I got to the bazooka that Demona was carrying in "High Noon," well...

***

Demona threatened Elisa with a bazooka at Belvedere Castle, calling her stupid for showing up unarmed. However, Macbeth goaded Demona into fighting Elisa hand-to-hand, and Demona tossed the bazooka to the floor.

After the battle, Demona and Macbeth fled, Coldstone went into self-imposed exile, and Elisa took a nap next to the stone gargoyles. The bazooka was, presumably left lying on the floor of Belvedere Castle out in the open. Whoops.

***

Elisa, you should really no better. What happened when you left your glock lying around? Now, a bazooka is designed to destroy tanks... and, well...

I bet some kid found it. ;)

GREG B> The "Velociraptors" in Jurassic Park were really just Deinonychus in all but name, and of course there's the Utahraptor which is a disturbingly big beastie...

It's a pity your friend is so bugged by the feathers, there's no reason a creative artist couldn't make feathered dinos look scary and badass.

Algernon

BISHANSKY - I agree with you when you said that you both hope and believe that "Gargoyles" would portray the Mesozoic Era more accurately than most pop culture treatments. I certainly think that Greg Weisman would take the trouble to see to it. But I also thought that the "Gargoyles" depiction of medieval Scotland shows a trace of that "different periods merged" approach, with stone castles in the late 10th century, not to mention some of the soldiers at the Battle of Rathveramoen are wearing armor from around the 13th century (not to mention the familiar depiction of King Arthur as in the armor of the High Middle Ages rather than of 5th century post-Roman Britain).

But, yes, I'm certain that Greg (and the artists whom he'd work with, if this story would be told in a future graphic novel) would do his homework for the dinosaur story.

Todd Jensen

Hahahaa! Good one, Todd. I can see him saying something like that.

Brainiac's comments make me wonder about visiting a time before the Humility Spell was cast and how it would affect Brooklyn. Since he lived in a time when the spell was in effect, would it work on him and no other gargoyles in the pre-Humility Spell time or was the spell only effective on gargoyles AFTER the point in time when it was cast, in which case whenever Brooklyn visited a pre-Humility Spell world he would end up unclothed at sunset.

Could explain why Brooklyn gets a new wardrobe... of course he probably would've done that regardless in the 40 years...

Matt - [ewoks11 at hotmail dot com]

I can imagine Brooklyn, once he's figured out that the Phoenix deposited him in the Mesozoic, remarking (if he's in a cynical enough mood at the time) that the Phoenix probably brought him there a few days before the meteorite's due to crash-land.
Todd Jensen

If, and I do mean if, we see dinosaurs. I hope we get a more realistic depiction of them. T-Rex's for example did not co-exist with, let's say, the Apatosaurus. I hope the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods are actually separate. Most cartoons and comics just throw any and every dinosaur into the same time period without giving it any thought. I think "Gargoyles" is better than that, of course.

And, as cool as "Jurassic Park" may have made them, Velociraptors were not these "man-sized" killing machines. Hell, they were probably barely two feet tall. The dinos in that movie were a fictional creation with the name "Velociraptor" slapped on them. And they probably had feathers too.

Hell, this is probably what they looked like.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cd/Velociraptor_dinoguy2.jpg

On a related note, I have a friend who loves Velociraptors, but he gets pissed if you say any of this. Don't even mention feathers. LOL

I didn't know Brooklyn get to travel to the time of dinosaurs. Assuming he does, maybe he is intimate with a female Velociraptor and he becomes responsible for creating all Gargoyle life.

The presence of actual dragons, the reveal of the Lost Race, and, of course, the humor of no Humility Spell also all spring to mind for potential reasons behind a prehistoric jaunt. Granted, they're all guesses (except perhaps the Humility Spell one).

So... Anyway have any idea what purpose Brooklyn's possible dance to the time of the dinosaurs might be? It'd be a convenient time to explore the origin of gargates, but I doubt that is the only reason the Phoenix would take him there.

It's gonna be a kick ass statue. I can't wait to pick one up. I actually e-mailed the designer, Rubén Procopio, not too long ago, complimenting him on the statue and thanking him for giving us "Gargoyles" fans a little something to look forward to. Here was his reply:
