thank for the info I also am gonna call A10 collectibles on Monday. On separate note came by something that made me ponder. We know that Arthur in the Pendragon series and from what we learned was awaken a 100 years early in Great Britain's greatest time of need? Just what is this great time of need? A prophesied type event? Secondly did they or why did the Illuminati never try to "awaken" Arthur during World War II? Would it not maybe seen as Great Britain great time of need?

We know that Young Justice is coming in January, right? Well I just saw a Young Justice commercial on Cartoon Network and it revealed that they will air Fridays in January. So we have a 1 in 4 shot on guessing when the first episode will air: 1/7, 1/14, 1/21, 1/28. :)

I know that the "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" returns on 1/7 at its new time of 8:30 PM EST where it was previously at 9:00 PM EST, so maybe Young Justice will be taking the 9 PM spot. That's my guess.

Sorry for the double but I noticed a typo comes up in the first 10 words of my previous post. I dont feel like reading it all but please forgive all typos. I have been awake 24 hours. Slept 2 hours in the past 36. And had a very busy, very physically demanding day. I was literally running errands and working from 8 am to 3 am.

Thank you.

Dres> I ordered from A10 and was wandering why they were dilly-dallying in getting the statue shipped so after two unanswered emails, I called them.

He said Sideshow works with or is a part of Electric Tiki. I cant remember which but that is why those that ordered through SS already have or are getting theirs.

A10 is ordering through Diamond and Diamond has yet to receive theirs. Or something like that. He said he expects them on December 29th and he would ship the next day.

On a similar note, The statue is no longer available on A10's website. The last time that happened, the owner said they sold out. Seems like the statue sold out twice. I wonder how much he ordered.

And you know what I want for Christmas? Gargoyles DVD (with italian dubbing too) and Gargoyles comic books (with italian translation).

Same thing about Darckwing Duck and Ducktales.

I think if you look at the price they are really trying to make a collectors item and exclusive. I mean who unless if you are really a fan is gonna put down nearly 200$ on this even for a polystone maquete this is expensive. Which is why I ask Im a little nervous about this purchase because of the investment. I couldnt resist at 160$ price range still the indulgence has me almost a little guilty. I think the when I get it will be worth it is to me beautiful art so very valuable. thanks for answering my question.

............dres- from the time i got my 1st email that it was leaving the manufacturer to the distributor to my door took almost 2 weeks... it took just a couple days for it to get to me from the last leg of its journey.

Did they only make 200 of these? Mine is #90. You think that more people would want this and 200 wouldn't be enough...

Brooklyn mentioned in "Clan Building, Volume 2" that even though Goliath had told him about the timestream being immutable, he still didn't want to risk it by telling Mary about Tom and Katharine's "marriage."

If he didn't want to reveal such a mundane detail as that, he probably wouldn't want to tell the Manhattan Clan anything about 2198 either.

............Just got my Electric Tiki Goliath statue this morning... I was afraid to take it out of the box... should have gotten two of them, one to display and one to hide away in its package. After I assembled the wings, it looked like it was gonna come to life... it's awesome and the pics really don't do it justice.

BTW, I packed it back in the box. Should I display it?

Vin - [castle0909 at aol dot com]

dres> I don't particularly wonder that, at least not for that reason. Maybe he just got too close to a crazy preacher man played by Nathan Fillion.
Supermorff

I agree with your assessment Brooklyn would probably keep it to himself. Not just because philosophically it would be the better answer. I also think clan members like Goliath would not want to know. You wonder also if Brooklyn has not already learned the price of trying to change the future when u look at his eye patch.
dres - [escodr3s at yahoo dot com]
Dres

Someone below mentioned a "Wind Ceremony" and I really hope Greg gets a chance to show us what one would look like. In my head, I have this view that it looks similar to what happened in the Beast Wars' episode "Code of Hero" when Dinobot dies and they have this device that appears to disintegrate his body and you can see some particles get blown by the wind as Optimus Prime and Silverbolt fly by. A great instrumental played in the background, which really made this scene very powerful and meaningful. I'm sure a "Wind Ceremony" will get treated the same way.
Anthony Tini

Sorry for the double post but gods, that last post was unreadable. Here a version that doesn't look like it was typed by a Chimpanzee on a sugar rush.

DRES> I tend to think Brooklyn would keep his knowledge of the future to himself. If time is truly immutable then he's just torturing them with foresight of events they can't change. Brook is probably going to make a conscious effort to avoid learning much about what happens to the Clan between 1997 and 2198.

Algernon

Rebel> I think Greg's main point was that very few gargoyles get that old. Hudson is still active and probably more likely to die by fighting. Old Pog might be old enough, but that's just one gargoyle out of all the gargoyles we've been introduced to.
Supermorff

It doesn't make much sense to me that gargoyles rarely die in their sleep. Seems like that would be the number one cause of death for gargoyles who make it to a very old age. I mean, I'm assuming that coming out of stone sleep is a fairly complicated biological process. As bodies age, the cellular ability to perform various biological processes degrades. For me it seems entirely believable that a very elderly gargoyle's body might go into stone sleep but no longer be able to come out of it.
Rebel

It was with most certainty Solomon's Temple the grandest of the three and famous. Plus we know what Herod's Temple looks like because it was around during Jesus time. On Separate note question time. Algernon and Dres, I do not know if it is the temple of Solomon.

I said before that a my friend told me that in the Bible there is say a temple where there were built some statues of monsters that can remember the gargoyles.

An other thing is the people of the Middle-age were inspired by these monsters and the monsters of cheltic mitology.

Because of that there was born the legends about gargoyles.

Demonskrye: I don't find the idea of gargoyles pulverizing their dead any more disturbing than the idea of humans cremating their dead. That's just me, though.
Paul - [nampahcfluap at yahoo dot com]

Dres> Greg Weisman has said that it's very unlikely. In most cases, stone sleep will heal even a gargoyle whose death is inevitable just enough to allow the gargoyle to awaken at sunset and pass away as a flesh and blood creature. If I remember right, it came up when Greg revealed that the stone remains of dead gargoyles are pulverized before Wind Ceremonies, which brings up the disturbing possibility that gargoyles might smash the intact stone corpse of one of their own. Greg reassured the fans that this rarely happens, if ever.

From the Box:

"GARGOYLES! Does the word strike terror in your heart? Remind you of your college architecture class? or perhaps make you nostolgic for a favorite cartoon series from the mid-1990's about a handful of medival monsters that awaken in modern day Manhattan and become "protectors of the night"? If your answer is C (or even D -all of the above) then I'm right there with you. Gargoyles began as a slightly edgier, updated take on comedy-adventure series like Disney's Gummie Bears. But as the show developed, it became a rich tapestry of stories and characters that mixed action, drama, humor, romance, mythology, Shakespeare and more. At the center of the massive cast was Goliath, the leader of the Wyveryn and (latter) Manhattan gargoyle clan. As voicved by the amazing Keith David, Goliath was a monster everyone could relate to. He had his faults and struggles, but he always strove to make the world a better place.

Electric Tki's Goliath captures that tough, stoic optimism - Not to mention the gargoyle's barely contained strength and power. To paraphrase Goliath, "He lives again!" I can't wait to get a copy on my shelf."

Umm, dres...that's kinda what we do here. We don't get a whole lot of general news to discuss in this fandom, so we do a lot of speculation and debating over speculation. We do it because it's fun, not because we believe we can "connect the dots" better than anyone else. ;D

You are all missing the point we can theorize all day and I have admitted I think you are correct in your theory TT sounds like a better fit. Im just saying I went for someone who would have a motive to join the Ultra Pack.
I did not consider all the problematic issues with Coldsteel I just thought that if anyone had motives for joining the pack it would be Coldsteel. You all have great theories and reasoning. that is what I put the topic out there for. However ever one is reading into it way beyond anything I could or would. Everyone has theorized it too death all I simply say is while what you write all makes sense there is no story there yet. Im sure Greg Weisman can connect the dots but right now the dots are not connected

Dres

Greg's also implied that the former members don't join the Ultra-Pack entirely willingly...

http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?qid=2158

Given this, it's possible Coyote coerces, blackmails or simply press-gangs TT into signing up.

Algernon

As for motive, The Pack hunt the Gargoyles as a form of sport. And according to Greg Weisman, TT is actually a rich man who engages in committing crime for thrills (If I remember correctly). And he might just find hunting Gargoyles to be fun.
Antiyonder - [antiyonder at yahoo dot com]
Algernon's comment about Norman Osborn: One of the neat things about Dark Reign is that it gives Osborn the chance to expand his horizons beyond tormenting a twenty nine year old who still lives with his mom.

Dres: True, but neither are hyenas. XD

They are, however, both pack animals, so they still fit the bill...at least more than any other characters we've seen so far in the Gargoyles Universe.

As for a connection between the Tazmanian Tiger and Manhattan, it's already been demonstrated in the comics: Robyn hints quite heavily that Sevarius was the one who cloned Benjamin and Natasha, so if Coyote teams up with him when forming the Ultra-Pack (a likely notion, since Sevarius was also responsible for mutating Wolf and facilitating Jackal/Hyena's conversion into cyborgs) then that contact will be open for possible recruitment.

Noted but that makes him a natural fit and villain for the Bad Guys/ Redemption squad. There is no indication right now he crosses over to Manhattan I think you guys are right but is just conjecture because we dont have a reason right now for TT to fight Gargoyles or join the Pack

Sorry for double posting, but another connection providing that the theory is correct is that Tazmanian Tiger's first on panel battle is against former Pack member Dingo.

Algernon's comment about Norman Osborn: One of the neat things about Dark Reign is that it gives Osborn the chance to expand his horizons beyond tormenting a twenty nine year old who still lives with his mom.

Adding to what Greg said, TT also is similar in tone to the TV Show version of The Pack. The Pack were basically a cross between professional wrestling and Power Rangers (and considering that both teams upgraded, the comparison holds even more true), with Taz being a throwback to the typical supervillain.

ok point taken and won. that is key he does fit those criteria. So is just as likely it might be someone else not introduced. I agree with your arguments with Coldsteel joining Demona and I hadnt thought that out it would be so nice if we really could know how it plays out.

There is no evidence that Solomon"s temple contained carved images of gargoyles or any semblance of graven images. Depiction of anthro-pormorphic images of angels as sometimes half beast may have but the images seen in Ezekiel and henceforth did not come before the Babylonian captivity long after Solomon's Temple. ox, lions, eagle, all these other beast usages of images were due to those animals representing the twelve tribes and probally from lingering influences of there polytheistic neighbors. There is no documented link between that and the depiction of gargoyles in medieval times just theory. If you want to make a connection
between antro-pomorphic angels that look like beasts that is fair game.
There is the parallel of both being beings other than human, winged protectors, and gaurdians against evil then the connection is easy to see.
I think the point is someone mute because Greg Weisman sort establishes Gargoyles as separate race older than man there seems to be no one cultural connection to gargoyle origins like much of the Gargoyle universe gargoyles are just part of the large mythological world

dres - [escodr3s at yahoo dot com]
Dres

DRES> Tazmanian Tiger fits the canine theme that the rest of the Pack have going for them. Coyote, Wolf, Jackal, Hyena, Tazmanian Tiger. Even the two thylacines in the group make sense.

I also don't think Coldsteel would want to serve under an AI that he knows from experience has more limited sentience than he does.

If Coldsteel allies himself with anyone, my bet would be either Thailog; or his rookery sister, Demona. I'd lean towards Demona, they've already allied once (though Demona doesn't remember it), and I'm sure she would again.

Also, several years back, long before we even got the comics, Greg Weisman said that the new Ultra Pack member would be a new character, no one we knew. We didn't know Taz, but we knew Coldsteel.

Greg Bishansky

dres> Take it from someone who can also get too sensitive. Disagreeing with an opinion doesn't equal disrespect. If he said "Your theory is stupid or retarded," that would be disrespectful.

Algernon's comment about Norman Osborn: One of the neat things about Dark Reign is that it gives Osborn the chance to expand his horizons beyond tormenting a twenty nine year old who still lives with his mom.

Greg is a little disrespectful to say my Coldsteel theory makes no sense. It takes only a logical follow through to see it does. While Tazmanian Tiger seems a good guess you cant infer it from the comics but you can infer Coldsteel. There is no link between Tazamanian Tiger and the Pack except that he is a tiger therefor a pack animal. However there is a link between Coyote and Coldsteel. While there is little in Coldsteel personality that would lead us to believe he would join a group. I can see however him sizing up that with Coldfire and Coldstone joining the Manhattan clan that he to needs to join a camp. Coyote could provide upgrades and assistance in his plan against mutual enemies. It is just as or more likely he joins with Thailog to form a clan along with Brentwood but then again the only reason that makes more sense is that the idea of the Pack is almost literal.

K7OP> Assuming Algernon is right about Solomon's Temple being the temple you're referring to, it's possible that the temple was protected by living gargoyles in the Gargoyles Universe. Like Greg B said, gargoyles once existed all over the world, so they might have had an alliance that led to them protecting Solomon's Temple. But the decorative elements might have been shallow carvings or line drawings etched into the stone. I guess you'd have to see what sort of decoration was common on Iraeli temples at the time. But even if they're free standing statues, it doesn't automatically mean that they were living gargoyles. Notre Dame cathedral in Paris is like architectural gargoyles central, yet none of them were living gargoyles in the Gargoyles Universe.

dres> I know Greg Weisman is partial to the theory that gargoyles were intended to scare off evil spirits, as that's part of what inspired the show. One particularly fruesome theory that I heard is that gargoyles were meant as a replacement for displaying the severed heads of enemies on castle walls.

There's no news about the live-action gargoyle film from Disney, which may be a good thing for now. Unless it turns into a movie based on the TV show, we're probably better off if the movie doesn't happen.

bagpipes5k> The last we had heard was that BOOM Studios, the company that is publishing the Pixar, Darkwing Duck, and Rescue Rangers comics, might be interested in the license. Nothing is confirmed, but it's become increasingly clear that they are aware of the fandom.

DRES> The popular theory on who the new member of the Ultra Pack will be is the Tazmanian Tiger from the first issue of "Bad Guys." It's a theory I agree with. Coldsteel makes no sense in that group.

As for gargoyles in ancient Israel, well, we know that once there were gargoyles all over the world. And since gargoyles evolved before humans, they definitely predate Israel.

Greg Bishansky

Well Demonsryke, just like I said before I' ve red in some science magazines that there are some traces of gargoyles in the Bible, and then in celthic mitology.

A my friend who study religion has said to me that in the Old Testament is told that there was a temple in Israel. In that temple there were built some statues of gargoyles (in the Bible the gargoyles are called in an other name that now I do not remember).

I imagine that you' ve heard about gothic churces; there are built some gargoyles statues and if you inform yourself you can discover that the makers had build some monsters statues to be used like a waterworks.

The makers were inspired themselves to the monsters of the Bible and the Celthic mitology, the monsters that are known as, today, gargoyles.

The word "Gargoyles" is derived from the latin word "gurgullium" that in english it is mean gurgling.

The people of the Middle Age belevied that the statues of the monsters of the gothic churches were stone by day and living creature at the night, and they had to protect the place where at the day they were sleep from the evil spirits.

Okay I think you know, all of you guys, where you can find more informations.

And I hope my english it is understandable.

No pre- production news? Second I read the section on the Ultra Pack section in Wiki. Anybody have an idea on who the unnamed new Pack member would be? Is it a charecter we were introduced to yet or some thing else. Any body willing to conjecture like me that is probable is a upgraded Coldsteel from what we see develop in the comics?

dres - [escodr3s at yahoo dot com]
Dres

I think he refers to some scholars conjecture that medieval gargoyles may have been inspired by Bible accounts of strange beasts such as the description of the winged beasts in Ezekiel and Revelation and other as yet unidentified beasts. But ancient Israel have no architectural or mythical archetypes that can be considered direct descendants of the gargoyle motif developed in Europe for that you would look more in Assyria or Egypt. In fact there is no dominant theory as to why gargoyles were created or became so popular in the 12th century. best guess is that they were first functional and second meant to scare the hell of people a reminder that evil lurked every where in sinful world. Greg has always been weary of putting Gargoyles in a Judeo-Christian paradigm so Im not sure he would set the Gargoyle origin in Ancient Israel. but who knows we know where he went with stone of Destiny so maybe there is a future story setting that reveal ties of Gargoyles with Ancient Israel. Who knows however is unlikely for reason stated above

K7OP> I'm not quite sure what you mean by saying that the first trace of gargoyles is in the bible. Are their creatures referred to in the bible that resemble gargoyles in some way?
Demonskrye - [<---"Toy Story 3" at The Ink and Pixel Club]

Hello guys!!!

This time I want to talk about this:

I' ve red in a science magazine that the first trace of the Gargoyles it is on the Bible. Then there are some other traces of Gargoyles on the Cheltic mitology.

And about that I have a question: during the reign of some hebrew king (in gargoyles universe), did some clan of gargoyles start to protect places collaborating with the humans of Israel?

Thank you for the answer!!!!

At the first Gathering someone found a little shop that sold random stuff near the hotel that, deep in the back of the store, actually had some Gargoyles Applause figures for sale. Word spread pretty quickly and they were sold out within the day.

Lex keeps diving off my shelf cause his tail's too long and it's bent in such a way so he's front-heavy.
