****In a burst of fiery sparks, Blaise appears in the Comment Room, decked out in red and green robes with a wreath of holly around his neck.****

I wouldn't have felt right without stopping to say:

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Or "Happy Holidays" if you prefer! Whatever/however you celebrate, may it be wonderful.

Now, on a more specific note:
GARGOYLESLADY> I am confused. What are you referring to, exactly?

Until next time! ****Blaise strides over to the fire place, lays his finger aside his nose, gives a nod...and becomes squashed into a little pancake shape on the ground. The now round and flat Blaise wanders out the door, muttering "He always makes it look so easy."****

Oh, just joining in on the wishing of Merry Christmas to anyone celebrating today :)

I myself was fortunate enough to get Volumes 5,6,7,& 8 of The Spectacular Spider-Man . . . it may not be the complete second season set, but I'm glad I finally own the second season, now wishing I didn't originally hesitate to buy them when they respectively came out, but nevertheless they were great gifts to unwrap :D

Okay if Goliath had been told there was a plot to capture a gargoyle, I don't think he would let anyone go out alone. Like, for example, if Elisa wanted one of them to meet her in Central Park, he would have someone accompany that particular gargoyle to wherever she wants to meet him/her.
Gargoyleslady - [kendal dot renfro at yahoo dot com]

Sorry for the double.

I know Lex could have been exaggerating but there is a pretty big physical difference between a 40 year old and 60 year old. Thats why I was wondering if they decide based on looks instead of years.

Lurker

Merry Christmas all.

I got to thinking about Brooklyn's age. That lead me to the non-canon radio play that I had the pleasure of being able to watch in person.

Lex says Brook is older than Goliath, almost as old as Hudson.

According to the math I did, Goliath is nearly 60 in human years making him about 30 in gargoyles years. Brooklyn is nearly 80 post-timedance meaning he is nearly 40. Hudson is almost 120 so he is nearly 60.

There is a pretty big difference between 40 and 60/80 and 120. This lead me to wonder, do gargoyles keep track of years alive or do they just guess age based on looks. I figure the years were hard on Brook but he doesnt look THAT old.

On a similar note, I know Greg has mentioned this before but I cant find it. How long can a gargoyle stay alive, excluding the use of magic of some sort? I know Old Pog is nearly 200 making him biologically 100. Is he the oldest ever or have there been some that make it to the 240's, as there have been humans to make it to 120's?

Thanks

Lurker

Thank you!!!!

And sorry again guys and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU!!!!!

-" In tutti noi c' e' il bene e il male, sia negli umani che nei gargoyle..." - Goliath in Awakening part 5 (italian version)

K7OP: That article does not even come remotely close to implying that. It merely states that Lexington was spending more time with baby Alex (being more along the lines of a surrogate uncle) at the same time that Broadway was spending more time with Angela, and that these were both signs that the Trio was beginning to drift apart even before Brooklyn went on his extended Timedance.

Hope that clears up your confusion, and happy holidays to all! :D

I am really dissapointed about the design of the statue... I don't like how tipsy it is, and I am affraid one bump and I'll have lost $230 :/

A request to anyone and everyone submitting questions to "Ask Greg". Could you please specify which series you're asking Greg about in it, whether "Gargoyles", "The Spectacular Spider-Man", "Young Justice", etc. I've noticed a few questions which just say "the show", without indicating which one.

Got my Electric Tiki Goliath statue today. It looks great, but the main piece doesn't sit on the base securely; a little wiggle and it falls over. The base appears to be a little warped too. I'm hoping this is just because it only arrived a couple hours ago and it's still cold. For now I'll repack it and try again tomorrow.

If Goliath had been told there was a plot to capture a gargoyle, I don't think he would have Broadway go alone to help Elisa. I think he would either have Angela, Brooklyn or Hudson accompany him to Cleopatra's Needle in Central Park.

If she sees one of Dracon's men pull a gun on her, she would know she's in danger and would call for one of the gargoyles to help her.

If Elisa saw a car speed around the corner and Broadway is hit with a tranquilizer, she would know right then and there he was the one they're after.

If Broadway knew he had been hit with a tranquilizer, he would know he was being hunted and would want to get the hell out of there.

I think it would be pretty hard for one of Dracon's men to disarm Elisa, she's a pretty damn good fighter.

If Elisa was knocked unconscious, I think the others would try to wake her.

If Broadway was unconscious from the tranquilizer, I think the others would try to protect him and keep Dracon's men away from him. I don't think it would be that easy for them to just take him and go. He's VERY heavy. They'd probably have to have a helicopter come in. Plus, they would have his clan members to deal with.

IAN: I doubt Greg would object, you might want to submit a request at Ask Greg just to be on the safe side. But he's already posted all this stuff on a public forum for all to see, so I can't imagine there'd be a problem as long as you properly cited your sources. But then I can't presume to speak on Greg's behalf.

Question about Ask Greg: I'm planning on making a blog post comparing Greg's production memos for Gargoyles with those Peter Laird wrote for the second TMNT 'toon, and want to quote at least part of them in the post, with, of course, all the proper attribution in place. Would that be kosher?

aww, I want a Macbeth action figure! maybe I could modify a toy to look like a weapon he'd actually use. Actually there are artists on deviantart that can do custom action figures, I almost want to find if someone could do some gargoyles ones for me... but I would expect to pay a lot of $$ for them.

@K7OP: I wouldn't get my hopes up, I think it's the coolest thing they included TRON but aren't all the worlds from Disney movies, Gargoyles is pretty strictly a TV show, even if you can call the premier a movie.

While I don't think it's likely in canon (but boy it would help our Gargoyles franchise to get more people introduced that way) there is a lot of Kingdom Hearts/Gargoyles in fandom!

I want more gargoyles canon!

Ehi guys, I saw one minute before this question: "Do you have any concerns about Gargoyles being anime? I ask this because of the video game franchise: Kingdom Hearts"

and a thouth hit me; I think that the Gargoyles could appear in Kingdom Hearts.
They are Disney' s characters and I will not be surprised about that.

And do you imagine that the hypothesis could be real in the future? Maybe a story where the heroes of K.H. have to stop Demona and Jafar' s evil plans; or Xanatos trying to capture the Beast of the movie "Beauty and the Beast" to use him to his evil plans just how he use the gargoyles.

I hope my english it is understandable.

Out of all the errors in the action figures, Macbeth was the one that bugged me the most. I never liked his weapon, largely because he demonstrated a couple of times in the series that he would never attack a sleeping gargoyle.

I remember when I was young, I had a Macbeth action figure. I saw how Garg Wiki was updated with a list of action figures.

Also, Castle Wyvern was a toy set too.

Wingless: Whoa, didn't realize that today was ALSO the Winter Solstice . . . I was more or less gauging the day to be a more typical 22nd/23rd. Funnily enough, I told a co-worker this morning: "Wouldn't it be so cool if the Lunar Eclipse fell on the Solstice coming up?"

Very cool indeed, lol :D

Something that Rebel brought up last week was the effort and energy required for an aging body to transition into stone sleep, and that the cellular exertion on an old enough gargoyle could conceivably be enough to exert said gargoyle's body enough that it could die.

And personally I too find the above totally plausible enough that I also found it curious that if a gargoyle managed to live long enough it is still more likely to die as flesh and blood than as organic stone.

Then again, I did manage to find this while adding a few CIT sources to the Stone Sleep page on the GargWiki:

http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?rid=266

So reading what Greg said, I can see that there ARE two things working for the gargoyle to survive the transition into stone sleep and more likely to die coming out of it -- the first being that stone sleep effectively brings the gargoyle into suspended animation, which is precisely why they age half as fast as humans do.

The second is the knowledge that a gargoyle gets a large chunk of the energy they require while they sleep thanks to through thermal energy. If I'm not mistaken this not only helps in the rejuvenating but is crucial in giving an older gargoyle enough energy to survive the transition out of stone sleep and breaking out of what's left of the stone skin.

Therefore, an older gargoyle is more or less "breaking even" every sunset until the body is just too old to handle either the transition out of stone sleep (or, another thought -- thanks to cell deterioration has become less effective in collecting thermal energy) and (grimly) comes out short one evening.

And the only logic I can see in why the transition in isn't so rough on an old gargoyle (beyond the notions that it stops any cellular corrosion due to age/ushers in a source of much needed thermal energy) is that the going into stone sleep is much like a real extreme version of hibernation . . . the heart slows down, etc (except its not seasonal, but daily) -- but in short, less energy is required to run the body.

All in all, while I'm sure there are others here that have a better knowledge as to the biologies of old age/cellular deterioration/etc (and can probably explain it better than me), I at least can see why Greg would find it less unlikely for a real old gargoyle to die while in stone sleep.

(and of course, that's assuming that any gargoyle ever does reach that extreme age and hasn't already been killed in battle, shattered while sleeping, etc)

Happy Winter solstice (The unofficial Gargoyle Christmas as I like to call it). The longest night of the year. It's also a full lunar eclipse tonight(at least in this part of the world. Apparently first that we have one on the winter solstice in almost 400 years, and we won't have another one at this time of year until the 2400s. If you have clear skies-get out and enjoy it.
