Sorry for the double post.

Bishansky> I have to appologize to you.

I always sneered to myself whenever you mentioned Daniel Day-Lewis being a brilliant actor. I never thought so (I thought he was good, not great) untill I saw Lincoln on Tuesday. The man nailed it, and should win the Oscar for Best Actor in February. There is no doubt he'll be nominated.

Day-Lewis captured the man as only, maybe, Raymond Massey could have done. Just an incredible performance.

You may not like Speilberg, but his movie is amazing. very, Very, VERY well done. (IMHO).

I HIGHLY recommend the film to everyone!

I love Titus Andronicus. It's my favorite "Tragedy" of Shakespeare's. I saw it live two years ago at the Free Will Shakespeare festival and it's amazing.

I remember once when I was younger I printed the whole dang play out on my ink jet printer, and then wondered why, the next day, I was out of ink. :P

I don`t know why it would be sho lowly regarded... I think it`s brilliant. Maybe because of the rape, or all the murders? It is definatly the Bard's most violent play.

Found a "remembrance piece" on "Adventures of the Gummi Bears" at the blog of the guy who writes and draws the web-comic "Nodwick" (www.nodwick.com). In listing the reasons why he remembers it fondly, he suggests that many of its features (such as plot arcs) helped lead to "Gargoyles" (and mourns its transformation into the "Goliath Chronicles"). A probable theory, based on Greg Weisman's own admission that it was one of the influences on "Gargoyles".

(And one of the DVDs that I shelved in the children's section at the library where I work today was one of the "Gargoyles Season Two Part One" DVDs - the one that had "City of Stone" on it.)

TODD> I never understood why "Titus" was so poorly regarded. I always thought it was rather brilliant.

Here's the problem with most fanfic writers: they seem to think Dominique is a second life. It isn't. Demona spelled it plainly in "High Noon." She's a gargoyle. Dominique is just a tool to help her in her goals. She'll use the form because she changes into a human, whether she likes it or not, but Dominique is not another life for her.

BISHANSKY - I've definitely forgotten about "Titus Andronicus" (of course, its traditional position near the bottom of Shakespeare's plays probably had a lot to do with that); I was expecting the story of Atreus and Thyestes (which probably inspired Shakespeare or his sources for that scene).

Yes, it is a Happy Thanksgiving... unless you work for Walmart. But in the spirit of family dinners, I bring you literature's greatest family feast:

Still fascinated by that book of Angus Canmore. I'm thinking about writing at least some extracts as "fanfiction". Any thoughts about the writing style, the content etc.?

Harlan Phoenix> I've always been astounded that the YJ-fandom is so egocentric and misinformed that they'll actually assume a problem with Young Justice, specifically, is the reason they also don't air Green Lantern and an entire load of DC Nation shorts.

I think it would go both ways. But why would one show affect the other? Why would one show affect an entire block?

What gets me is, is that DC Nation gets taken down so both shows get taken down with it. Like it's trapped in that block and it's the only possible way they could ever air. And I know it's because that's the plan, but it's like it's out of the question of just airing them without the block, but of course people want to see the shorts as well.

Isn't the reason why they've even taken it down is because CN is celebrating it's twentieth anniversary? Granted it's with a 2-month year old show (or whatever), but that's why they've down it. Of course some of us can't help but speculate that there's something wrong that's why there's still a petition up despite the fact CN have already confirmed that they're bringing it back, just later than people would want.

MATT - The account of the execution of Finella's son in "The Lore of Scotland" said that he'd been put to death for rebellion against the king, which suggests he was an adult. The Finella of "Gargoyles", on the other hand, looks too young to have had a grown-up son, which makes the traditional account unlikely in the Gargoyles Universe.

Harlan Phoenix> I casually enjoy "Young Justice", not as much as "Gargoyles" or "Spectacular Spider-Man", but it is a good show. That said, the bulk of its fans seem a bit crazy. And not good and funny crazy. I mean like rude and annoying crazy.

Todd> Interesting tidbit. It leads me to wonder again about Finella and her possible son in the Gargoyles Universe. Finella seems to truthfully deny having a son when Mary asks her about it and yet seems bothered by the subject. And of course you have to ask why Constantine would make the claim if it wasn't true... Maybe its one of those true, but not accurate statements.

I was reading "The Lore of Scotland" (a fascinating book about Scottish placelegends) today, and discovered an entry on a Scottish castle (actually, an Iron Age hill-fort) said to have been the site of Kenneth II's murder. The account in the entry involves Finella, but gives a different story than the one "Avalon Part One" showed; here, Finella deliberately assassinated Kenneth on her own (without any involvement from Constantine), in revenge for his putting her son to death. She invited him to her castle and showed him a brass statue holding a golden apple, which she urged him to take as her gift to him (the apple, not the statue). The statue had been booby-trapped so that when Kenneth took the apple from it, he unwittingly triggered a set of hidden crossbows that shot and killed him. (The entry added that legend gives several different accounts of Finella's fate afterwards - none of which involved her taking flight with a red gargoyle and a fiery phoenix.)

GLN: I don't see why I was "pouncing" on you. I said nothing personal nor particularly negative; I just stated facts.

Still, if I offended you, I apologize.

Anyway, the rumors that the hiatus is due to rights disputes regarding Rocket/Icon/Static or regarding Stephanie Brown are indeed wild speculation, and while it does no enormous harm to spread such rumors it certainly doesn't do any good.

"You're just like crosstown traffic, so hard to get through to you..." - Jimi Hendrix

I've heard of those rumors, but I don't think it likely that Greg Weisman would have been foolish enugh to insert a character in "Young Justice" that he knew DC Comics didn't want him to use.
Todd Jensen
Hufflepuffs are great finders

I know didn't make much sense, but hopefully you understood. I'll just post the confirmed rumours (if someone else doesn't). But you don't have to pounce on me just for saying something that I heard. Am I hurting anyone in particular by saying those things?
Green Lantern's Nightlight

"Wildly" speculating is saying everthing that has happened is because DC and CN hate YJ, but can only do this instead of flat out cancelling now instead of finishing with what's already been made.
Green Lantern's Nightlight

Masterdramon: I never said I believed it, I'm just saying what I heard from someone else. I'm trying to find out where they found it out from and even that will probably lead to nowhere, but like I said it's just something that I heard. You can take it or leave, or delete if you hate it that much, but that's unlikely going to happen.

I was aslo referring to the comic as well, not just the show.

Green Lantern's Nightlight

GLN: You heard rumors.

No one in the fanbase actually has a clue why the latest hiatus occurred. It is pointless to wildly speculate.

"You're just like crosstown traffic, so hard to get through to you..." - Jimi Hendrix

I heard that either the show has been stalled and/or the comic has been cancelled due to clearance issues with a character.

Reviewer "Pop Arena" just posted a review of "Revelations" on That Guy with the Glasses. Beyond the occasional use of stock footage from "To Serve Mankind," it's pretty neat and makes a lot of good points.

That's one thing I never got among my gargoyles merchandise was the several Gargoyles posters. The one I wanted the most was the one at my link. I never knew it existed until I saw someone at a Gathering getting it autographed.
Wingless

I didn't even realize the wings were wrong... shame on me!
But now I see it too!
However, I've seen FAR worse. For example when Lexington is depicted with wings like these of Goliath/Hudson/Broadway xD

But where did you get these posters? Are they for sale somewhere? Or do you just take these pictures and print them in giant format? xD

I have that poster framed on my wall. And it endlessly bugs me that Hudson and Broadway's wings are wrong. I also have the poster that I had to mail in for using the proof of purchase of the first season VHSs. It is from my favorite episode: "Reawakening" and features Coldstone, Goliath and Elisa. It is a larger than the other poster and has a slightly 3D quality to it. It is, in fact, the artwork that was on the "Brothers Betrayed" VHS.
