The role of 'Bastian is kinda tricky because the actor needs to play both a 90-year-old man and a 20-something ghost.

Much as I adore Ed Asner, I'm not sure if he'd have been the right fit for that.

I've finished the audioplay now as well, and while I'll be posting a more complete review at a later point, suffice to say I think Jacob Vargas did a great job filling that need.

I figured Ed Asner would play Bastian. It seemed obvious for Greg to do that.

So, I finally got the last DVD's of Spectacular Spider-Man on DVD for Christmas. And now the series is out of Blu-Ray. I can't imagine buying the whole thing again, but is there anything significantly different on the Blu-Ray?

Also, Ducktales: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, an underrated classic.

Merry Christmas and/or whatever holiday you may or may not celebrate!

Just listened to the entire Rain of the Ghosts audiobook during my family drive to Wisconsin. Loved it. Some bits that stood out particularly were Ed Asner as Old Joe and the entire Island Belle sequence, but the whole thing was enjoyable from start to finish. I'll be rereading Spirits of Ash and Foam soon with new voices for the characters in my head, 'cause this cast was excellent.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE! :D

I think it'd be awesome if Disney does air some of the episodes again, but the chances of that happening is unlikely. It'd be cool if they pulled the same stunt Cartoon Network did back in 2014, where they aired the Toonami block (which was cancelled back in 2008) on April Fools' Day. That single "joke" caused a huge wave of feedback from the fans. Re-running the episodes on actually television is a good way to expose it to the new generation and bring back the established fans.

Or at the very least, Disney should put the episodes back on its main website or YouTube! I didn't check on them after the news broke out that it was available legally (I mean, I have the DVDs, so...), and when I came back to see if people were still viewing the episodes, I learned that it was all gone! They only have the Opening Theme and "The Gathering Part 2" on their main website, which is ridiculous. Of all the episodes they could've left on their website, they chose "The Gathering Part 2"? Does anyone know what happened with Disney that caused it to take the series off like that?

Anyway, does anyone know if Mr. Weisman is scheduled to have any more appearances at conventions? He always does a "Gargoyles" panel, so it'd be the perfect place to spread the news about the cinestory comic to those who are interested/want to buy just so they can support the series. I don't expect him to say outright, "If the sales do well enough, Disney is willingly to allow me to work on the series again!" or whatever, but spreading awareness can help raise the sales back up (I hope more people will be retweeting that announcement soon). It can help boast the sales for the DVDs. Afterwards, maybe they can start re-releasing "Clan Building" and "Bad Guys" again. This is just marketing strategy to test the waters, after all. What Disney cares about is money and nothing else.

Old material gives way to new material, but only if the comic sells well enough.

Long time fan coming out of hiding to say how awesome this news sounds. Been ages since I've posted here, but this is the kind of news I've been waiting for. I know, it's not what we were hoping for; we all want a new batch of stories from where the comics left off. But the tweets by Aaron Sparrow and Greg Weisman leave me hopeful.

Greg Weisman's tweet: "It's a way to introduce a new generation to what's come before so that [redacted]. Cool huh?!"

Aaron_Sparrows tweet: "Time to make a new generation aware, because reasons."

Sounds like something's coming that Greg's involved in or at least cool with. And if he thinks it's cool then I'm behind it 100%. At least Disney are doing something with the property.

Merry Xmas :D

To put it simply: New material presents old material as something attractive. New Star Wars makes people want to watch old Star Wars.

I think the best way to attract new fans is new material, not old material. You're probably right when you say it will be bought by established fans rather than kids who see it in the store, the don't recognize it, and they could if there was new stuff coming out, the cool, new thing called Gargoylez is happening and appearently it's an established series! I want to start at the beginning! There's really no reason for kids to be interested in it, other than being good, but you know what I mean. It could do good if it was coupled with reruns on the air, I don't know if that's happening.

I kept my eyes on that Mr. Sparrow's Twitter post and I saw him replying to those comments. Good to get actual confirmation and seeing him teased the fans like that does give me hope. As a devoted fan of the series since I was just little kid, I desperately want "Gargoyles" to make a comeback. The series totally deserves the financial support! I think he does/could have it if selfish Disney would just let go of the freaking rights! I've seen/heard what Mr. Weisman has to stay from his replies on S8 and at cons, but the reasons behind why Disney won't let go of the rights is simply stupid. They shouldn't keep it if they're not even going to give a chance and waste their time creating lame shows. The series would be better off in someone else's hands.

I'm happy that this is a sign Disney is at least showing interest in it again. Heck, it's Christmas miracle! He took them eight years for them to release Season 2, Part 2! Most of us have been waiting since the series ended for "Gargoyles" in the late 1990s. It's truly amazing how dedicated the fans, but I'm kind of worried. Mr. Sparrow claims it's to help re-introduce the series to the new generation, "because of reasons," but I'm scared to how everyone react. Older fans are gonna be disappointed that it's a re-telling, but part of me thinks that older fans might be the ones willingly to buy the comics for the sake of supporting the series. Whether the "new generation" would be interested in it worries me all the more...

With how @Aaron_Sparrow has been responding I am certain that there is more to come and a hopeful chance that it will be a reprint of the comics, or new ones.

Greg B mentioned them was responded with "All good things to those who wait..." He also said "There has been... An awakening. What will be announced next?" which Greg W favorited, which gives the impression that he knows what it is, or is at least hopeful as he's always been.

Can someone actually provide a source about it containing the "Awakening" episodes and its release date being March 30, 2016? I'm looking at its Twitter, the company page (totally useless), and the Disney wiki, but don't see an official source showcasing this information. I get that it's a cinestory comic, but I can't add information on the Wikipedia without a source.

It's been a long time since I commented here, but I saw the news! Is this for real? They're actually reconsidering "Gargoyles" again!? Even if it's going to be based off any of the episodes, I say it's better than nothing. At the very least, it shows that Disney is finally acknowledging the series again. If it sells well, then maybe and finally we can get the series rolling again. I take it, then, that the sales for Season 2, Part 2 met their expectations this time? I hope it did sell well, anyway.

I agree re-releasing "Bad Guys" and "Clan Building" would be better, but hey, it's Disney. What can we do? We don't know anything about the content yet, so let's not jump the gun. Besides, even if it's a re-telling, us fans need to spread the word and support it if ever want original content and Mr. Weisman back on board with the series. This is the best thing I've ever for the series since Season 2, Part 2's release! :D

NinjaSheik

It should be screencaps from the Lawn Gnomes Freakazoid parody, but with dialogue from Hunter's Moon.

Let the ol' tail wag.

I strongly suspect that's what it is also, but... honestly, I don't think it was a smart way to do it. I think a re-release of Clan Building and Bad Guys in a big, new book like what they did with Darkwing Duck would have been a better choice.
Greg Bishansky

I strongly suspect this is a "testing the waters" type deal, a way to gauge interest in the property before committing to producing original content.

Either way, the better this thing sells the better our chances of getting new Gargoyles further down the line.

It's one of those comics that isn't really a comic, it just takes screenshots from the show and makes a comic book out of them.

Sigh... can't we just get a new comic with original content?

Disney has a christmas present for us:

It's a new Gargoyles Comic that retells the story of "Awakening" and it has a foreword written bei Greg Weisman.

I was poking around some websites, looking into the Guardians of Infinity comic that got everyone's attention a while back. Apparently, that's a Stonian on the cover.

So definitely not one of "our" gargoyles; this one is ACTUALLY extra-terrestrial.

Very fortuitous timing on the Rain audiobook release - I was traveling most of yesterday, so it made for ideal listening material on the plane.

I'll count drowning out a crying child with "Opie's" dulcet tones as a definite entry for the WIN column. :D

Shouldn't the FAQ be updated? I noticed that it seems a little out of date, especially since it doesn't even mentioned the release of Season 2, Part 2.

Downloading was a beast for my ol' laptop, but I just finished listening to the first chapter (while following along with my copy of Rain of the Ghosts)! The unique voices already make this stand out, but the sound effects are what's really wild -- having read this book twice now, I'm noticing my mind bouncing to new visuals thanks to the additional sounds (and curiously, to give an example or two feels a bit spoilerly, so I'll just leave it for everyone to enjoy the experience themselves).

Definitely worth the wait -- can't wait to hear/re-read the rest! :D

Fifth.

This is the time of year when I wonder, again, what Greg Weisman's planned "Santa Claus" story for "Gargoyles" would have been about, and how St. Nick would have fitted into a "darker-than-normal-for-Disney" animated adventure series. Though I recently saw an episode of "Doctor Who" where Santa Claus appeared for the Doctor's latest adventure, and I thought it did a good job of fitting him into that adventure without jarring. (To say more would spoil it for those who haven't seen it - and I doubt that Greg would have used that particular approach.)
