PAUL> Basically, the New Olympians are of mixed mortal/Third Race heritage. Greg's yet to confirm to what extant, if any, the "Old Olympians" where "pure" blooded Children of Mab/Oberon or hybrids like Fox and Alex.

Going by their mythological genealogy, I would assume Artemis & Apollo were full Children; since both their parents were sired by the original Titans.

Then again...

All things are true, few are accurate.

Not to mention Dionysus at least reads more as a halfling than an Oberati in terms of his non-Orphic mythological origins. MAYBE a changeling at a stretch.

There is balance in all things. Live in symmetry with the world around you. If you must blow things up and steal from those around you, THAT'S WHAT RPGS ARE FOR!

ALGERNON - Good point about Artemis's relentless virginity; I'd overlooked that. (Though the Artemis of Asia Minor whose story you linked to was far less chaste, being more a fertility goddess who happened to share the same name.)

PAUL - Apparently it's more complicated for the Greek gods, thanks to the New Olympians, than for other mythological pantheons.

Hufflepuffs are really good finders

Is it weird that when I first read these posts the first thing that came to mind was Artemis from YJ? And the next thing that came to mind was the team infiltrating the North Pole and fighting Santa and his elves?
Though in my defense, I hadn't gotten much sleep and had gotten off of a graveyard shift.

I thought all of the gods were of the Third Race.

TODD> Well, we know that NO coudn't bee one of Artemis' descendants. ;)

ALGERNON - Depending on whether Artemis is still around in the Gargoyles Universe or not, of course. We don't know whether she's one of the Third Race or one of the Olympians from the era before the founding of the New Olympians (I recall a figure who looked much like the traditional depictions of Artemis/Diana in a New Olympian crowd scene).

But thanks for sharing that. I've read up some things about Saint Nicholas, but this story was new to me.

TODD> Since you mention it, there is a fun little bit o' Saint Nick trivia I recently stumbled on. Apparently, he and Artemis were arch-enemies...

Now I really wanna see a story where Art tries to steal Christmas. :D

ALGERNON - I feel tempted each St. Nicholas' Day to bring up again Greg Weisman's mention of having planned a story featuring Santa Claus for "Gargoyles" and speculating over what that story might have been - but I doubt that we've any new speculations for that one. At least, I can't think of one.

In other news...

Happy St. Nicholas Day, everybody!

None of the Garfield/Miss M. questions are really new. Personally, I've no interest in the subject, as I'm content with what Greg has already answered, which is fairly limited when he doesn't want to spoil anything, which I understand.

Which comes to my next point. One of the recent questions, actually asks him why he thinks what happened between seasons 1 and 2 is a spoiler if answered. I mean, come on, common sense.

Green Lantern's Nightlight

Marvelman: We've noticed. It's not like this user's abuse of the system is particularly new.

I'll refer you to my response from 5+ months ago, all of which still applies:

Hi. Somebody has been flooding the unanswered questions queue with questions relating to Garfield Logan. There are at least a hundred of them (I stopped counting after that), and there may be hundreds more! I think it is probably one person who is doing this and not the Beast Boy fan club. Obviously, this is not my website and it is not my call to make on what belongs here and what doesn't, but this is extremely obnoxious behavior so I thought I would bring it to someone's attention.

Saw last night that folk's weren't counting as quickly as some usually do. Thought about being first then decided to get as much sleep as possible before my graveyard shift.
Long story short (too late) I'm fifth.

Well looks like it's up to the third wheel to bring up SF Debris' new Gargoyles review, this being The Thrill of the Hunt: https://sfdebris.com/videos/animation/gargoyless1e06.php

I'll second that.
