"decent free webspace" is a real contradiction in terms. ;)

Seriously though, don't even consider Hypermart (took over freeyellow....which hasn't been "free" for some time now). They have the nasty habit of deleting stuff whenever they make a server move, all without any prior warning of course. I lost years of renders (which I unfortunately didn't have a backup copy of) when freeyellow moved to another site a year ago.

Siren> Wonderful. Any suggestions on a decent, free webpage service?

I was working with Geocities just a few minutes ago, but they don't offer that much space. I need at least 38mb.

Eric> Well, I use a Canopus ADVC-100 to capture video, I take the .avi file and use TMPGEnc to encode. THere is an option in tmpgenc that will let me view each captured frame. I copy the frame I want to Paint and then save that as a .jpeg image. I'm going to put more up soon.

Well, here is my site for all to view. I've got my 1st video ready to upload, but I need DSL to do it. I cut it down from 200mb+ to 36mb. VCD quality is terrible, but I figured it would be much easier to download 36mb rather than 200+mb.

Anyway, that will be up soon. I did put a few pictures up so go check them out, if you'd like. Also, I finished yet another music video today. It's on the Archmage and the song is Never Gonna Stop by Rob Zombie.

Watched my tape of "City of Stone Part Four". The big conclusion to a very good "Gargoyles" multi-parter.

I continued to keep track of which Weird Sister says what. Luna, the Sister representing Fate, is the one who first reveals how Macbeth and Demona will live forever until/unless one kills the other, and only then will both die. When they're talking to Macbeth in the present, Luna is the one who points out to him that Duncan had Findlaech murdered to prevent Macbeth from becoming king, but that didn't stop Macbeth from becoming king (which, I think, does fit in with the fate role) and Selene the one who points out that killing Gillecomgain to avenge Findlaech's death didn't solve anything (appropriate, if slightly ironic, that she'd be the one to point out that vengeance didn't achieve anything).

I wonder if Demona knew about the other clans at this point (during the present-day part of "City of Stone"). If she doesn't, then she's (from her perspective) plotting to wipe out the last gargoyles on the planet apart from herself - very ironic behavior on the part of someone so bitter about her kind being wiped out. (But she probably takes the attitude that Goliath and his clan aren't her kind anymore, not after their "consorting with the enemy".)

I still find it a bit odd that Canmore was invading Scotland in 1057 as the Hunter rather than as himself, since he was thereby denying himself the potential propaganda advantage of a "return of the rightful heir" stance. I've placed a query about it at "Ask Greg", but it'll be a long time before it's answered. In the meantime, I have two hypotheses for why Canmore was passing up the opportunity for a "return of the king" scenario.

1. A lot of the Scots might have felt that his claim to the throne had expired by now under the equivalent of a Statute of Limitations, since Duncan had died and Macbeth become king seventeen years before, a case of "you should have invaded some years earlier, while Duncan's death was still fresh in our memories". (It's worth pointing out that Duncan's grandfather, Maol Chalvim, had usurped the throne in 1005, and yet by 1020, so far as we can tell from the flashbacks of "City of Stone Part One", nobody seems to be viewing him as an usurper with a poor legal claim to the crown.)

2. Canmore had spent the last seventeen years abroad in England from childhood, being raised by the English. Under such circumstances, a great many Scots, even those loyal to Duncan's family, might be hesitant about his becoming king after all that influence of his from foreigners - that he might be a king with more sympathy towards England and its customs than towards Scotland and its customs, and would they want him as King of Scotland thereby? (And with good reason, for in real history, Canmore actually did play a strong role in introducing English culture into Scotland - and even married an English princess of the old Anglo-Saxon royal family who'd fled to Scotland after the Norman Conquest. Not to mention that the English king of the time, Edward the Confessor, had spent his youth in Normandy and consequently, when he became king, felt more sympathetic towards the Normans rather than to his own English subjects.)

But those are just speculations, and I could very well turn out to be wrong.

Some of the battle scenes in 1057 remind me a little of the movie "Excalibur" with all that singing going on in the background.

Gruoch has definitely grown old gracefully, I couldn't help thinking when I watched this episode. Her final parting with Macbeth is a heartbreaking moment, I still think. (Something that I picked up on this time around that makes it even sadder is that Macbeth's disappearance for Luach's sake doesn't even do Luach any good; he still gets defeated and slain by Canmore.)

Backtracking to Canmore for a moment - it might half-please some of the fans, at least, to know, that in real history, he eventually fell out with the English (although they were, strictly speaking, not the same English that helped him defeat Macbeth but their Norman conquerors), went to war with them in 1093, and there was slain. According to legend, he died from a fatal wound in the eye delivered him by a Norman knight who was nicknamed "Pierce-eye" for it and became the ancestor of the Percy family (which produced, among other members, Hotspur of "Henry IV Part One" fame). The story's a legend - the Percies were really named after an ancestral village in France - but I have a strong suspicion (from the perspective of the Gargoyles Universe) that somebody did pierce Canmore fatally in the eye in 1093 - but it wasn't an Englishman or even a human who did it. (It would certainly explain why the Canmores started going after Demona again.)

One thought that I had about Bodhe's suggestion that Macbeth cast off the gargoyles to make peace with the English: I wonder if this sort of thing could have been one of the factors in the end of the Age of Gargoyles. Could many castles have slaughtered their gargoyle protectors, not so much out of fear of them, as out of fear that if they continued to play host to gargoyles, their gargoyle-hating neighbors might attack them for sheltering the clans? It's certainly a tempting thought (and if it had happened a few times before 1057, it'd make Demona all the more likely to believe that Macbeth would have taken that route - although even if he had, which I don't think he would, the English would have simply found some other justification for the war; they went on attacking his castle after the gargoyles deserted it, and fighting Luach even after the gargoyles were all slain.)

One bit, back in the present, that I really get a kick out of: the look on Demona's face when she discovers that Macbeth doesn't view the fact that killing her will cost him his life as a deterrent, but rather as an incentive.

This time around, I couldn't help smiling (even if it is a rather sick thing to smile at) at the look of absolute wide-eyed panic on Bronx's face when the floor starts to fall away, dangerously close to him. Poor puppy.

Another bit that I probably shouldn't find amusing, but do: Goliath tells a battling Demona and Macbeth to stop fighting each other - whereupon they turn around and both thump him simultaneously.

Some great lines in Act III. "Death is never the answer. Life is." "The access code is - alone." Xanatos saying to Bronx after fixing the access code, "What are you looking at?" The Weird Sisters' parting words, especially "That is a story for another time."

Moving to the historical Macbeth, I knew a great deal about him even before "Gargoyles" came out, such as Gruoch and Lulach (Luach is a spelling error on the part of the series, that Greg Weisman has himself acknowledged), Macbeth slaying Duncan in battle and being a better ruler than he was, and his dates (1040-1057), which cued me at once to what was going to happen when they showed up on the subtitles. I didn't know about Gillecomgain, though, beyond the fact that Gruoch had been married before Macbeth, with Lulach as the result of that marriage, and I was initially a little surprised with Macbeth's father being named Findlaech since his father in Shakespeare's play was named Sinell, but then learned that "Findlaech" was the correct historical name.

At any rate, great, great multi-parter.

Ellen: Yeah, I was wondering why it was so different from the play. Prior to watching City of Stone, I had no idea how Macbeth's life really was since it wasn't taught in school. I still think the Wierd Sisters was a nice touch. I couldn't help but smile when the trio told Macbeth of his future right infront of his cousin. (I smile because I had to play one of the wierd sisters in my senior year right infront of the entire english class. I didn't care for playing a woman at the time, but now I think it was slightly amusing.)

Todd -- I'll admit I'm one of the many who had read Shakespeare's "Macbeth" without having done any historical research on the Scotland of Macbeth's time. I would have had no problem believing that the play contained historical inaccuracies, but it never would have occurred to me that the *extent* of these inaccuracies was as radical as it evidently is. I learned more or less simultaneous to watching "City of Stone" for the first time that the Macbeth presented therein was far truer to fact. It amazed me that the creators of "Gargoyles" would have the diligence to do this, and it stands as one of the main reasons I have such great respect for the series.

Is there any way we could maybe get a nice pic of Cagney? I'm all for the hissing one, but I wouldn't mind a sleeping Cagney or maybe Cagney being petted or something. Verily, I am glad Greg has the will power to keep that secret... If Greg told me the secret release date, this very second, you all would have known the date 25 minutes ago. Watched my tape of "City of Stone Part Three" today. I continued to keep track of which Weird Sister speaks which lines. Phoebe's the one who's reassuring the panicky citizen about how "everything will be all right" when the Weird Sisters are disguised as policewomen. (Incidentally, the guy whom they were talking to looked familiar to me - I think that he might have been Billy and Susan's father from "The Thrill of the Hunt". His appearance and voice looked right for the part.) Selene is the one who informs Macbeth about Duncan having ordered Findlaech's death and gives him the magical globe that will bring about Duncan's own death - appropriate behavior for the "Vengeance" Sister. Luna is the one who speaks the most prophetic lines, especially "You would lecture us on fate?"

Duncan shows how suspicious he is when he becomes ready to move against Macbeth, even though Macbeth had just saved his life, simply because three old hags told him that Macbeth would someday be king. As Elisa put it in "Protection", "The corrupt are always the first to believe that others can be corrupted."

I've said this before, but there are always new people here, so - I wonder how many first-time viewers were surprised at the major difference with the Shakespeare play here, with Macbeth defeating Duncan in battle rather than killing him in his sleep. I'd read a fair amount about the Macbeth of actual history long before "Gargoyles" came out, so I wasn't surprised - but I still like to hear the responses of other fans.

I still find it a bit surprising (in view of what we later find out about him) that Owen would seriously consider a counterspell from the Grimorum Arcanorum as a means of undoing Demona's spell, since neither Xanatos nor the gargoyles had the necessary knowledge for casting it (nor he himself, as Owen). I've asked Greg about that part - my own suspicion is that Puck might not be as familiar with how human magic works as how Third Race magic works, and didn't realize that you need to have a great deal of experience and know-how to use something from the Grimorum. Though even that's a bit far-fetched.

I really like the battle between Duncan and Macbeth. (Note that, while they're still using the medieval castles for the settings, the armor that Duncan and Macbeth's soldiers were wearing for the battle scene was more "Dark Age Scotland" in style than the more conventional medieval clothing that Princess Katharine's archers wore in "Awakening Part One".)

An amusing irony about Duncan's death: the production team came up with the flaming death because they thought that the "falling over the cliff" deaths were getting stale - but Duncan then proceeds to fall over the cliff himself while bursting into flames! I suppose that some habits are just hard to break.

Macbeth's coronation scene is another great moment. Particular highlights of it:

The first inclusion of the Stone of Destiny (even without suspecting that they were going to give it a larger role down the road when King Arthur showed up, I still really enjoyed this element of early Scottish custom).

Macbeth promising Demona that humans will come to respect her, to which she replies that she'd rather that they feared her. That's one occasion when I really find myself wondering about Demona - she *is* feared by humans, as are her fellow gargoyles, and it does them more harm than good. Unless, I suppose, she wants gargoyles to be so feared by humans that nobody will dare attack them or even try smashing them while they're in stone sleep.

Macbeth giving Demona her name. I can't help but think that it defies audience expectations a little (from the context of where we first hear her name) that she receives her name from an ally praising her fighting skills, rather than from a victim regarding her with terror.

The bit where the crowd cheers Demona after Macbeth names her his primary advisor, and she's astonished for a moment, then actually smiles. As if she's wondering whether being respected - and even loved - isn't so bad after all. (It gives additional poignancy to her later break with Macbeth and becoming even more bitter and anti-human - those moments where she could have taken a different course are always that way.)

The Weird Sisters pop up everywhere - another nice touch.

And we end with a big cliffhanger (although I still sometimes wonder how it was that that secret passageway behind the tapestry escaped the notice of Xanatos and his construction crew).

The October date was my dumbass assumption. Since 2004 is the 10 year anniversary, I figured it'd coincide on or about the original air-date for the first episode. With the film crew at the Gathering this year, that'd have given them about a month to cut, burn, package and ship the DVD out to retailers. Probably not a realistic timeline.

Anyone got their copy of the October 1994 Disney Adventures with Goliath on the cover? I think I still have my tucked away somewhere. (That was the white background with a goliath head shot, ja?)

For shame...

When I bootleg, at least I don't ask for cash. Just a swap of tapes and postage. It would have been different if you had said "I'll make copies to share with anyone that asks, just send DVD disks you want copied too and return package with postage". Or ask for a swap. I mean... where would I be if I paid money for my DMB, EMB or OLP concert bootlegs? I wouldn't have enough to buy the bloody real CDs and help support me love of the music!

I would love to have all the copies of the tv shows on DVD and even if I HAD a copy, I'd still buy three of the real DVDs.

*Deep sigh* I had a real thought to add to the comments, but now me mind is raging. *Wanders off to fume*

Todd Jensen: "Actually, it was "Eye of the Beholder" that they did all that business with Xanatos having letters for his plans (as in Plan A, Plan B, Plan C, Plan D, etc.).

The reason I loved that scene is that Xanatos is telling Owen about how many back-up plans he has, not realizing that Goliath and Elisa followed him back to the castle and Goliath replied, "Your manipulations have failed Xanatos... I don't suppose you have a plan D?"

two interesting thoughts that occured to me after reading some of the latest posts here:

1. in CoS, if Goliath and Clan had NOT agreed to help Xanatos break the spell, what would X's Plan B be?

2. was Goliath and Clan really neccesary to break the spell at all? X had the Steel Clan, did he really need five more gas dispensers gliding over the city? it might've taken a little longer, but i think he could've gotten the job done on his own. although he might've pulled the Clan into the fold for a couple reasons. first as extra help and protection, Bronx DID save Owen's life afterall. also, i'm sure having Goliath and Clan being part of the plan eliminates the possibility that they might inadvertenly ruin it in an effort to stop Xanatos...

Xanatos> I don't think he ever *really* changed sides untill HM pt III. Xanatos was using the Gargoyles from the word go. He was using them in CoS as well. He wasnted to save his city, to stop Demona, because he knew that she would do *real* damage to the city. He also wanted to save Owen (He does have a soft spot for him. Tha much is obvious).

Xanatos only picked the side that *best suited* his own plans. IF killing Goliath fit his plan, then so be it. The CoS situation was that he had to save his city, and the Gargoyles were invaluable to him in his fight. Hell, he could loose steel clan robots by the tens of tens to achieve his goal, but he didn't have that many of them on hand, so he had to call Goliath for help. It fit his plan.

It's like it was stated in "The Edge" I think. Xanatos always has a contigency plan. Goliath makes this known by his quipp, "I don't suppose you have a Plan "D"..."

If siding with Goliath to save Manhattan was his Plan "A," then *not* siding with Goliath (Maybe Goliath rejected his plee or something) was Plan "B." He always had a back-up plan and always choose the side that best fit his plans.

That is all I will say.

Not to mention that they would be atleast SVCD quality to get them to fit on that few DVDs. I've never been able to get more than 4 episodes onto a single DVD-RW disk (talking single layer here) without having to either drop the quality by quite a bit or dropping the resolution. Quite frankly, I gave up on that and just burned the mpeg streams (SVCD res) to DVD-R, and that alone took 6 DVD-R disks. I fully intend on buying the legit DVD set anyways, but I burned those as an archival set just incase the second and third seasons don't make it to DVD. I'm buying a set for myself, and for my 5 year old nephiew and niece (whom absolutely LOVE the show). Hell, I even got them both to watch #8 (Deadly Force) and my niece (10) didn't see what the big deal was over it being "banned".

After looking things over with refreshed eyes, I see the two good rambles on Reawakening are actually separate, and meant to compliment each other. So actually a lot of the libraries have been missing the first one which included a memo from Greg to Michael Reaves on Reawakening.

I've just gone through the archives here and cleaned out the libraries that had the corrupt first ramble so you should be able to both Reawakening rambles now. As well as Greg's first ramble about the server crash that happened at that time.

I love when Xanatos changes sides in the City of Stone. I liked how he could easily be good or bad, depending on his moods. I think he finds certain things amusing but when some things threaten his very existance, or well being, he does take on a sort of moral role and tries to fix things.

And he's not beyond asking for assistance. That shows lots of character. One of my favorite things about Xanatos.

D. Taina: I don't have any screenshots on-hand, but I do remember the faces being a bit more menacing than they showed in the edited version when I watched the original airing of the episode. I'll dig around to see if I can find more info.

Greg's lost Reawakening ramble from April of 2000 wasn't lost.. exactly.

It's something that's come up while working on the new AG system. Rather than waste space here, and save the mouse wheels of CR regulars, I've put together a separate page with info on what happened, how the ramble was lost, how the second attempt wasn't really lost, and what caused it.

Some of you might find it slightly interesting, most probably won't.

Ahhhh, Greg Wiesman and the Q. I just noticed that I have three questions pending. Yup. Three. ... ... ... Well, 2 1/3. The EARLIEST one is dated November 2003. They are at August 2002.

Ahhhh to be a forgotten question in the Q!

Just a thought.

CHRIS - Please stop treating this room as if it was a chat room.

Watched my tape of "City of Stone Part Two" today. I continued to keep track of which Weird Sister says what, although it didn't work when it got to them talking to Goliath outside the toy store; in their petrified state, their hair all looks the same color. Pity.

We get a rare occasion where Xanatos actually gets spooked - when he looks about and sees the petrified citizenry of New York. A great moment.

I can't help but suspect that it was a good thing for the gargs that Goliath told Lexington to switch the sound off on Jeffrey Robbins' television set. Just think what seeing and hearing the whole of Demona's broadcast could do to a gargoyle - since they're already stone by day, a gargoyle who saw and heard the thing all the way would be trapped in stone 24 hours a day.

Incidentally, it was great seeing Jeffrey Robbins again (and seeing how he and Hudson had become friends).

Duncan behaves again like an "acting king" - ordering Bodhe to have Gruoch married off to Gillecomgain with the indication that it would be treason to defy him, for example - while still being only "Prince Duncan". I'd really like to know more about that when "Ask Greg" can start accepting questions again.

Can you imagine what Gillecomgain must have thought when he realized that Demona didn't even remember scarring his face? Talk about adding insult to injury....

I like the way that the Weird Sisters keep on popping up in the background all over the place.

Xanatos is his usual Xanatosian self when he greets Goliath and Brooklyn with "Ah, the cavalry is here" and "You missed all the fun." I still think that Xanatos suggesting a team-up with Goliath is a remarkable moment; such team-ups often happen in animated series, but how often is it the villain who realizes that they need to drop the feud and work together, rather than the hero? Just one more way in which Xanatos flouts the conventions (and no doubt thoroughly enjoys doing so).

Vertigo1: "I honestly have no idea why they would edit that shot since they've always looked menacing before when they turn to stone. Their unedited faces were tame by comparison to the look on their faces throughout the series. Heck, they didn't even edit out the blood on Goliath's claw in the pilot episode when Hakon swung his sword at him. Then again, since when has any censoring made sense?"

Have you actually seen any other version of that final scene in Deadly Force (the one with Goliath and Broadway perched by Elisa's hospital window), and if so, where? Because I've taped the episode countless times (I even have most of the originals on tape) and they've always looked the same to me. To the best of my knowledge, that scene isn't a Toon Disney edit because I've seen it on several other channels like Tele-Once (local station), USA Network, FOX, etc.

As far as I can tell, they only edited out the scene of Elisa lying there on the floor in front of the stove (before Broadway says "no...!") and Elisa lying in a pool of her own blood (which they edited out completely to use the close-up after the commercial break). The blood on Broadway's hands wasn't edited out either.

Do you have any screenshots of Broadway and Goliath in a menacing pose outside of Elisa's hospital window? Because it's on Series One of the trading cards, card #49. It wasn't there in the "Force of Goliath" (I think that's what it's called) video either. I also checked out your link, and the ending is the same in the downloadable version of Deadly Force at the Avalon Archives.

I just watched my copy of it that I captured off of ABC Family the first time it ran (just incase they didn't air it again! :D) and I stand corrected on that part. I have a copy of the original version. They didn't zoom in on Elisa's face, so that was obviously an edit in the currently aired version to remove Elisa laying in a pool of her blood.

I have a small gargoyle named, "Gaston".
I also have a sign with gargoyles that say, "Protected by Gargoyles" and another, "Garden Gargoyle"
Those were all gifts.

My favorite real gargoyle is another sign I have. It's a menacing gargoyle sitting ontop of a "WELCOME" sign, but the gargoyle etched letters into the sign with it's claw and the sign says, "UNWELCOMED". I LOVE that sign.

Here's a bit of news: they're making a stage musical adaptation of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" entitled "Spamalot", and Tim Curry (the voice of Sevarius) will be playing the part of King Arthur.

I watched my tape of "City of Stone Part One" today. "City of Stone" is one of my favorite "Gargoyles" stories - which, I still think, is rather unusual since usually when a series does a story where the focus is on the villain's origin story and the heroes have only a small role, I don't like it much. A lot of it, I think, is the fact that Demona and Macbeth are more than just members of the "rogues' gallery", and also because of the elements of real Scottish history that got in with Macbeth's backstory. In fact, the flashbacks about Macbeth and Demona are one of my favorite parts of the multi-parter still.

This time, I decided to keep track of which Weird Sister says which line, in light of Greg's explanations about the different facets of the Sisters that they represent, with Phoebe for Grace, Selene for Vengeance, and Luna for Fate. For a start, I took a look at the lines that they use at the bank as the little girls:

Phoebe reassures the yuppie couple that "it'll be over soon" - suitable for the Grace role.

Selene comments, after Goliath nabs the terrorist leader, about how she (the terrorist leader) switches her focus from her cause to self-preservation once she's in danger, then adds in a not-too-enthusiastic sounding voice, "Still, it's good that you saved her" - appropriate for the Sister representing Vengeance to be less than thrilled with somebody sparing a terrorist.

Phoebe gives her "If you'd forgotten what she'd forgotten" line, which fits in with her Grace role again, and Luna points out that they weren't talking about the terrorist.

Then, when they're watching Demona's broadcast, Phoebe's talking about "Isn't this exciting?" in a thrilled-little-girl tone, Selene tells her sharply to concentrate so that it won't end here, and Luna reminds them that they've been waiting for this for 975 years - it's appropriate that she'd be the one bringing up the "grand sweep of history" facet to it.

The first time that I saw this episode (long before "The Gathering" aired), I was a bit puzzled over why Demona was calling Owen "the tricky one". I wondered if it meant that Demona considered Owen to be much more clever and dangerous than Xanatos, which I found hard to believe in that, yes, Owen's very efficient, but Xanatos is certainly a force to be reckoned with in his own right, not one of those villains who's not as bright as his sidekick (as in, say, Dr. Drakken and Shego in "Kim Possible", though obviously that example wouldn't have occurred to anybody watching the episode when it first aired in 1995). Of course, now that we know who Owen really is, that line of Demona's becomes much clearer.

The Demona scenes in the flashback are still really great, especially her "What have I - what have they done to you?" moment and her tearful good-bye to Goliath. And the bit where Demona allows her soft-heartedness to flare up for once and rescues Macbeth and Gruoch - then immediately regrets it when she sees that that gave the Hunter time enough to escape her.

As Greg points out, one nit in the episode is that the petrified Elisa is facing away from the entrance to the gargoyles' balcony. Though it's not enough to ruin the episode.

Demona's clearly good at magical multi-tasking; she's able to take down Owen with a spell while reading her incantation for petrifying the city.

One thing that I found myself wondering this time around: Duncan was still only a prince at this time, not yet king (he doesn't succeed his grandfather to the throne until 1034, twelve years after Findlaech's death), so how does he have the authority to appoint Gillecomgain High Steward of Moray? I wonder if he'd somehow become a sort of "acting king" at this point - maybe King Maol Chalvim was somehow not able to rule at this point due to old age or illness or something like that. I should probably ask Greg about it when the queue opens up again.

What else can I do?

"Sure," you say, "I'd love to come to the Gathering, but..."

There are always reasons, I suppose. Some good, some not so good, some very good.

I'd still like you to come. Even now. With less than a month left, I'd like to see you make the effort and show. It's a great year for it, what with the Disney folks there shooting footage for the DVD. Heck, don't we want them to see how strong our fanbase is?

The Gatherings have been the lifeblood of this fandom. Why are we getting DVDs this year. Because of the annual Gathering. Just that simple.

And, yes, I am talking to you. And you in the back there too, trying to sneak out.

But let's say you just CAN'T make it this year. This happened. Or that happened. You just can't. You ask me to understand, by saying, "What else can I do?"

Here are a few things...

1. Buy a supporting membership. It's much less expensive than a trip to Montreal. It helps support the convention. And you're entered for a free t-shirt.

2. Heck, just ORDER THE T-SHIRT. It's also much less expensive than the trip. And you get a T-shirt.

3. Order a pin or the Phoenix Gate Anthology.

4. At least go to the website and check these things out:

http://www.gatheringofthegargoyles.com/

5. Start planning now to attend G2005 in Las Vegas. Start saving. Show your true support for the series and the fandom.

Thanks.

Demonskrye>> Thanks for your comments last week concerning my theory.

Of course, as humanity imposed itself on the clans, each clan would find its world constricted to small areas, and as a certain poster commented, would you need names for rivers if you are only likely to see one in your life? ;-)

Lex and Sexuality>> (See last week) One example of the intricate aspects of sexuality can be seen in Robin Williams' character in _The_Birdcage_ . The character is clearly gay, yet he had something of a fling with his son's mother. What was that line: "I wanted to see what all of the fuss was about"?

Remember, there is much more to sexuality than the sensations of the body!

Gregor the Gargoyle >> Well, "Gregor" sounds a lot like "Gargoyle."

The better question to ask is not what past attendance was, but "What are YOU doing to become part of the attendance this year." And if the answer is "nothing"... well... then that says a lot right there, IMHO. Because until that first-season DVD comes out in wheneverember... the best thing every fan can do right now to show their support for this show is attend The Gathering next month.

And the second best thing would be to get a supporting membership... or a t-shirt... or do something to help support the small group of fans who have given up a good part of their lives for the past year to put this event together.

So in short, "Ask not what your fandom can do for you, but what you can do for your fandom." And that's my little soap box lecture for today. :: tosses two bits into the hat ::

That WAS the edited version. They cleaned up a little of the animation, removed a short section showing Elisa laying in a pool of her own blood (you can tell it was edited because it goes from Broadway rounding the corner to him going "Oh!"), they removed the blood on broadway's claw when he put her on the gurney at the hospital, and they changed the faces of Broadway and Goliath outside the window at the very end.

You can get the whole thing legally on "The Avalon WWW Gargoyles Archive". (its in WMV format, and its about 50MB if memory serves)

[Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted in here... ]

Anyway, I stayed up far too late tonight and watched Gargoyles on Toon Disney, and I just realized they're playing Deadly Force. I thought TD didn't air that ep? Not that I'm complaining, but it just struck me as surprising that after all these years(?) of protesting, they've apparently changed their mind.

It wasn't until almost halfway through that I realized they weren't supposed to be showing it, so I hadn't been watching very closely, but I don't think the ep has been edited at all, either. Does TD still cut the episodes for violence? Or is this a sign of more relaxed standards? And, if so, is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Any thoughts, anyone? Or is this an old conversation I missed long ago while in lurker mode?

on a side note, did anyone else see Keith David on "I Love The 90s" on VH1 tonight? wasn't talking Gargoyles, but we'll wait til we get to 1994 on Thursday... *hopes that they mention Gargoyles* small chance i know...

10th.

Demonskyre: I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) the spell in "City of Stone" lasted all of one night and part of another.

Todd and Patrick: Thanks for your comments last week regarding the building used in "The Silver Falcon." Can I use the excuse that I was enthusiastic about seeing what appeared to be yet another familiar NYC landmark in the show? I hadn't noticed the Chrysler Building wasn't old enough for Mace to use in his schemes, and the archives here are so big I missed Greg's comments on this episode. Still, I really like that episode; it's one of the reasons I finally got around to watching "The Maltese Falcon" recently.

Number Nin with a quick question:

How many nights did the spell in "City of Stone" last for?

The answer could determine whether or not I write a fanfic I've been pondering, so I'd appreciate getting it.
