Matt-let's face it, we's too full of questions and Greg is just one person.

It'd be nuts if Greg gets to 2006 questions while we are still in 2006. He hasn't been in the same year in a long time.

I remember the days when we had to wait a WHOLE WEEK for answers. Crazy.

Why do I get the feeling the gargoyles issue #2, if it's released this year, will be released about a week before Christmas?

Whatever happenned to simplicity?

the SLG site has been updated again and it shows that Gargoyles #2 is still to be released in December which is good :) I then looked at the releases for February and it didnt show #3. If the comic is going to be realeased every 3 months instead of bi, wasn't that supposed to start after the realease of issue 3?

ARE YOU WEARING YOUR POPPY???

Sorry for the double post, but this requires a separate post because it is very important to me and moany of you, too, who may have loved ones or know someone fighting in other coutries right now.

This poem transcends all culters and sountries, it is for everyone who sacrificed for all our freedoms, so way post on this board and argue about Demona's breakfast.

Tomorrow, I hope each and Everyone of you stops at 11:00 AM where ever you are to think about the sacrifices our frinds, relatives, and allies made for us all to live in peace.

My Grandfather made 39 bombing runs into Germany to stop their evil, winning the Victoria cross, Distiguished Flying Cross, and Various other madels for Bravery. He was Shot Down twice, but survived. Tomorrow is an especially important day for all of us and I hop you all understand why.

I post this now because I can't tomorrow. This is a poem By Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) of the Royal Canadian Army

Flander Fields

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

If anyone didn't know yet, JAck Palance, a great old time character ator, passed away today at the age of 87 from HNAtural Causes.

He won an Oscar for his role of Curly in City Slickers, and hold the record for have the longest span between first nomination (1953 for Sudden Fear) and win (1992 City Slickers.)

He was a boxer before the war, under the name of Joe Brazzo, and earned a Purple Heart and other medals when burned in WWII.

After the war, he turned to Hollywood and became a ledgendary Character actor in such films as Shane and City Slickers two.

Gargoyles has a lot of Character actors, and I thought I'd pass along this info because I know some of you may care.

that is all I will say.

I use to download all the eps, to make my music videos and watch them. Now with the DVDs, I only downloaded the episodes that are not released to DVD yet, for video making. Such as the Hunter's Moon Trailer I made, that was all from downloading from Limewire.
Siren - [Click my name for Hunter's Moon Trailer!]

Well, I'm not going to download them ;) I figured there might be a virus attached. I just find it amusing, really. And I'm not looking for episodes; I have the DVDS and the later eps. But sometimes you find interesting things on Limewire and similar programs- interviews, music, etc, so every now and then I put "Gargoyles" in the search and see what pops up. I just wasn't expecting this ;)

Kaylle, Quicktime files are notorious for having hitchiking viruses. And as is the case with several quicktime files I have tried to download, either it had a virus or when I watched what was suppost to be an innocent video on dolphins, a trailer for a movie, or a tv episode, it turned out to be porn. So I just flat out don't download quicktime anymore. People who send viruses this way often do so by trying to attract the curious. Apparently Gargoyles is popular enough to add its near to such a file. I know when I search for Gargs or a Disney movie, I get the same thing. Just ignore them
Siren - [Click my name for Hunter's Moon Trailer!]

Keith David made a guest appearance in tonight's episode of ER playing a minister who provides a medication exchange program among his parishioners that can't afford to buy new drugs. It wasn't a big guest appearance, but still, was cool to hear his voice on TV again :-)

Jurgan> I imagine Harry Osborn would be a wild card. His alliances at this point could go either way. He could ally himself with Spiderman, the man who 'killed his father', or, in the more likely event, he chooses to aid Sandman. I doubt he'd help Venom any, despite that Venom is sort of Spider-man's 'evil side'.

Unfortunately, in the trailer ("I didn't kill your father!") it seems Harry chooses to go down the dark path. And here I was hoping he would prove to be better then his father and to rise above.

Sort of off-topic> How come when you search for "Gargoyles" videos on Limewire, the most popular hit is some Quicktime file called "Gargoyles hardcore cartoon sex"? I'd just assume it was some other "gargoyles" reference, but the cartoon bit is pretty specific <g>. After that you find a bunch of episodes and sometimes music videos or audio interviews, which were more along the lines of what I was looking for. I'm afraid to imagine what I'd find if I downloaded the Quicktime file...

Warcrafter> Hyppolyta is the unofficial name of one of Goliath's rookery sisters, the biological daughter of Hudson. Greg just wrote a small fragment of story about her on "Ask Greg". None of the characters are named, in keeping with gargoyle tradition, but they are recognizable by title and relationship.

"Hyppolyta"> I also enjoyed this little bit of story. I agree that the lack of names is cool; I probably could have even figured out who Hyppolyta was without the benefit of the title, just by her physical similarity to Hudson and Broadway. It's also neat to see that Goliath's appointment to the position of leader wasn't all moonshine and lolipops (pardon the expression). And of course, it's fascinating to learn that Demona may have had more faith in Goliath's vision of the human-gargoyle alliance before later events left her jaded. I much prefer thinking that Demona grew and changed as a character rather than simply believing that she hated humans from day one (even if she's the poster child for not growing and changing for much of the rest of the series as we've seen it). I guess my one worry is that this will be another of those stories we may never hear the end of. I still want to read the next part of "Once Upon a Time There Were Three Brothers", a.k.a. the begining of "Dark Ages".

Demonskrye

I too found it cool that I could recognize who each person was without anyone being named. It's get a little closer to the gargoyle mindset.
Asatira

Okay, I feel like a total noob asking this but who exactly is this hyppolyta? Todd, how do you know about her talking to Demona and all this kind of stuff. I don't want this kind of stuff stuck in my head.
Warcrafter - [grafixfangamer1 at sbcglobal dot net]
Humans are such easy prey for a gargoyle!

I was also intrigued by the lack of personal names in "Hyppolyta" - I hadn't thought that it could be a simulation of how the gargoyles originally didn't have personal names, though.

The line that particularly got my attention was when Demona was talking to Hyppolyta about how Goliath had a vision for both gargoyles and humans. Of course, she hasn't as yet had a lot of the experiences that will lead to her hating humans (though certainly some of them, such as the Archmage's abuse and her vision of the Wyvern Massacre), and she's also doing whatever she can to defend Goliath. Still, it's a bit of a surprise.

Todd Jensen
Gargoyles - did for monstrous-looking statues what "Watership Down" did for rabbits!

Jurgan -- that is a good point, each episode was written by a team of writers. But it's still mostly Greg's creation, right? I don't think of what he says on AG as canon so much as writing in progress... writing that will hopefully be used for canon material in the comic. But I don't think of it as just fanart. Greg isn't (just) a fan, he's one of the main writers.
Vaevictis Asmadi

It is interesting to me how many characters (Elisa, Goliath, Matt, Demona, Hyppolyta) Greg can write a story about without mentioning anyone by name. And yet, we can easily tell who he is talking about.

It really puts the lack of names in traditional gargoyle culture into context. I mean, it could really work if you know the characters well enough, which a Clan certaintly would.

Matt - [O'Fallon, Missouri, USA]
"Toilet out of order. Please use floor below." - Sign in public restroom stall.

It's not really a matter of copyrights. Greg himself has said not to count anything here as canon, although some is clearly closer than others. I think it's less to do with legal issues and more to do with not tying himself down to something he says on a whim. He has ideas about what to do, but Gargoyles was made by a team, and that team made it better. For that reason, I think he doesn't want to say anything he comes up with on his own is canon. You never know when someone else he works with might have a better idea.
Jurgan - [jurgan6 at yahoo dot com]

I don't think of it as fanfic. I consider it a story by Greg that just isn't set in stone yet. I don't care about copywrites or whatever. As far as I'm concerned, what Greg writes is part of the Garg universe and what somebody else writes (TGC) is not. He's the author of the Garg universe in general, he invented it. Obviously he can't claim AG is official because of copywrite issues, but to me that is an entirely real-universe issue, and has no bearing on what "really" happens in the Garg-verse.
Vaevictis Asmadi

Well, canon issues aside, it is pretty neat. The neatest part for me is the confirmation that Hyppolyta is, in fact bald. Making her the first known hairless female gargoyle. It is likely that, like Broadway, Hyppolyta inherited this trait from her mother, Hudson's mate.

"Toilet out of order. Please use floor below." - Sign in public restroom stall.

Harvester of Eyes : hahah ok im sorry, i will start doing it. For u only
demon@

In a sense, everything Greg writes at AG can be considered fanfiction. Most of it consider it higher than that, for obvious reasons, but he has said that unless it's in the episodes of the TV show or the comicbook, we should not think it's set in stone. I didn't read the whole thing, but I think he said he left it open either to be part of Gargs or maybe something completely unrelated. But until we see it in an issue of the comic, we shouldn't assume anything here is true.
Jurgan - [jurgan6 at yahoo dot com]

Mara> I'm not sure whether that thing was Greg's attempt at fanfic (Highly unlikely, given that it's a known fact that he never reads fan fic for fear of infringement, so I don't see him writing any, either. Besides, as co-creator, anything he'd write would be widely considered canon.) or a possibly future comic issue storyline or what.

London Clan Voting> Well, I don't know if the system is different in the UK, but I registered to vote and voted absentee all by mail (I'm a college student in Boston, but I vote at home in Ohio). I needed a local address and an Ohio drivers' license, but I think if you don't have a drivers' license you can submit your social security number. So assuming the London clan has the UK-equivalent (I know very little about UK government, but I assume if they're paying taxes they'd have some sort of government ID number), they could register and vote without anyone realizing they weren't quite human ;)

That's pretty much par for the course when it comes to industry. Biases are what they are. Thankfully, Gargoyles steers well away from most of this when it gets preachy.

For the opposite approach, subject yourself to some "Captain Planet." Remembering how that was spoon-fed to kids with such unquestioning group-think gives me Orwellian nightmares as an adult.

The Manhattan Clan probably has no understanding of modern politics, but I wouldn't say that of the London Clan. They pay taxes, so in some sense they are citizens of the UK. Who knows, maybe they vote, too? Given their isolationism, though, most London Gargoyles probably just vote based on what different candidates will do to their property taxes and possible development near their estate. I doubt they will be much interested in any other aspects of Human politics.... at least, not until the existence of Gargoyles becomes well-known in the UK and politicians start talking about it.

As for other clans, who knows? Are the Ishimuran Gargoyles involved in any way with the economy, such as paying taxes, or do the Ishimura Humans handle all of that?

What happened to Greg Weisman's blog on this site? The one with the green background (as opposed to the FAQ's blue). I can't find it. Did it get taken down and Greg no longer writes one? Man I'm out of the loop, just haven't had time to follow this comment room and most other online happenings for the past several months. I miss it.

I checked Slave Labor's site and it says that Gargoyles #2 is slated for next month. Is that old info of theirs that hasn't been updated, or has Greg made any recent comments that imply it'll probably be out by then? What was the hold up on the comic anyway? It's not a big deal, I'm patient and have lots of other stuff to read, just curious about the reason for the delay.

Kris - [plekopleko at hotmail dot com]

I don't think Gargoyles could really handle modern politics in an informed fashion. They'll never be tax-payers, for one thing. Also, the degeneracy enshrine in law as modern standards and practicies would strike them as abhorant. The gap between what a Bureaucracy creates and what a Clan or Family seeks to accomplish is just too great.

Their values are just too firmly engrained and counter-cultural for them to feel truly enfranchised in a two-party republic.

Marty "Kaioto" Lund - [kaioto at yahoo dot com]

I don't think the gargoyles would anymore want to vote in a human election than they would want humans to vote in second-in-command elections. Of course, that doesn't mean they wouldn't be against anyone who was against Gargoyle-Human relations or whatnot.

Do we really know what sort of corporation Nightstone is? It's not inconceivable to think that Demona might be making some weapons. She was having Sevarius unwittingly cook up a nasty bio-weapon (unwittingly in that I don't think he knew what Demona's ulterior motive was). Besides, Xanatos is a Corporate CEO, and he made the Steel Clan and several versions of Coyote, among other things.

Now, would Demona be using Nightstone to arm the Quarrymen? Doubtful. Hell, I thought the Quarrymen's appearance in the TGC episode "Generations" was a mistake.

As for McDonald's, they are no more evil than any other corporation. No one is cramming McWhatevers down anyone's throats. People can control what they put in their own mouths. If you ask me, what is evil is the people who blame their own problems on corporations simply because they can't control their desire for the corporation's product.

Even if Nightstone Unlimited would manufacture anti-gargoyle weaponry, I doubt that Castaway would buy any from there; remember, he knows from Robyn's investigations who Dominique Destine really is, and certainly wouldn't want to do business with her.

Actually, it occurs to me that Demona may regard violent anti-gargoyle groups such as the Quarrymen with mixed feelings. On the one hand, they're one of the things that she most ardently hates and wants to destroy. But at the same time, I think that a part of her actually wants the Quarrymen to be around - for a while - out of the hopes that their activities may bring more gargoyles around to her point of view and get them to "wake up and realize what humans are really like".

Speaking of Demona! I wonder what she would do if she ever discovered that the weapons her company makes were being used to kill gargoyles?
I'd imagine she'd kill the humans responsible but what about afterwards when she has nothing left but her guilt?

Remember the old Gargoyles comics!

Talking about Simpsos, the other day i was watching them. They were showing that episode in wich Bart, trying to "rescue" a little airoplane that got stuck on a roof, slide of the roof and kicks down a gargoyle, breaking it.
You see Demona, bored in home, watching tv to see if there is any other war with hopes these one ends with human kind at last, and she saw just the moment when the gargoyle shatters, and she rises up in anger howling "blasted humans" XD

The Simpsons' "Treehouse of Terror" did a Golem story last night; I wonder how many of us who saw it found themselves remembering a certain "Gargoyles" episode (though "The Simpsons" handled the Golem of Prague differently).
