That was Dr. Arnada. And by "that other girl", I assume you mean archeologist Lydia Duane. Arthur Morwood-Smyth is Duane's partner and was also present in "Sentinel". And Dr. Arnada apparently has a brother who is a neurologist in Honolulu. Everybody clear?

Hi, I'm echoing part of Remy's question. Who is Judge Roebling? The only time I recal Goliath meeting a judge was when he was put on trial in TGC, and that's not considered cannon. So, where did he come from???

Hello all,

This is a friendly reminder to the gargoyles community that Avalon Mists, the free, fan driven online magazine, is back and will be releasing its second issue at the end of the month. If you have new stories or artwork that you want to showcase, have suggestions or comments on works that you would like to see featured, or are new to the community and would like to learn more about a long standing part of the fandom that was recently brought out of hiatus, then click the link below to enter the mists and read more about it. The submission due date is Aug. 17th for all who wish to contribute.

Emambu - [avmists at gmail dot com]

I tend to agree with Ed here.

It could create new fans. What with the Matrix movies being so popular, it could draw in people wondering if this could be a tie in or something similar to the movies. And maybe they'll find out, even if it has nothing to do with the Matrix movies, its still good.

Actually, it would make them 45. Do the math.

'Thirty-Six. Nine.' - Issue #5

I love the cover. It's attractive and intriguing, a tantalising teaser for fans, but should make sense for newbies too.

Matrix is the perfect character to frontline the comic. Dingo, Yama, Fang and Robyn are all great but aren't instantly explicable to people. At first glance they're just people in costumes or monsters... could go either way. Even for many casual Gargoyles fans, the characters have been minor so far -- for people following the DVDs, only Dingo and Fang have got a run-out.

But a "self-aware advanced artificial intelligence" is an instant gotcha to sci-fi/comic fans -- or anyone who's ever heard of Terminator. Someone who's a dangerous "Bad Guy" to boot? I think that's a stronger hook than yet another team action shot.

Also, I disagree that it's not eye-catching. There's not lots of colour, but that's good because the eye is drawn to "WANTED" which means more than some psychadelic costumes.

I think the logo is a bit dull, but if a new, spiffy Bad Guys logo is to be brought to it, I think it'll be great.

Can anyone work out what's said in the top right? Born (?) 16 December 1962 in California, that would make whoever-it-is 34. Dingo was "mid-thirties in 1994"; 32 might be a bit early. Fang? Something about "(?)neighborhood. Woman is (?)housing... (?)modified and sound removed."

Ed Reynolds

Lets give Greg W, Greg G, Stephanie L and the others involved a chance here. There may be a good reason why Matrix alone is on the cover. Personally, I agree with KingCobra that each member of the Redemption Squad will have their own cover follwed by a group shot in Issue #6. I actually suspected that might be the case long before the cover was released.

That said, I am surprised Matrix is up first. I would've suspected Dingo or Hunter.

Bad Guys #1> I personally liked it, though I agree that having a group shot would've been a more impressive start, cover-wise. i would myself would've liked it even more that way, but I'm guessing, instead, we'll have a character shot per cover, then one big group image on the last issue.

Yeah, it kind of does. LOL.

'Thirty-Six. Nine.' - Issue #5

Its not bad, but i think it could be better. Yeah, we already know the characters, and thats what would make a fan who doesnt know all the news to say "hey, i know that, awesome" and for those who doesnt know it, it may be more interesting seeing a gargoyle or a mutate like Fang thatn the matrix. But whatever what do i know?
Matt: tell that to my ex boyfriend muajajajAJAJAJAJAJAJA

Demon@

Eek, you're right it does say BAO GUYS.

I think the note on the bottom that says "artificial intelligence" is supposed to interest people. All of the other characters are human, gargoyle, or mutate -- races we've already seen in the main story. Matrix is more unusual.

It is true that it isn't very eye-catching.

Ok... that Bad Guys cover had me PANIC for a second. First off... that logo looks like it says "BAO GUYS"... I immediately went to Steph Lostimolo and asked if that was the final logo and was it too late for someone to fix it! :: PANIC ::

Anyway, it's not the logo that will be on the comics (or so I'm told). I'll have to guess that the logo we saw at Comic-Con will be the one they use (and it was pretty plain, but easily readable and I was cool with it... despite someone (Dan Vado?) saying that Weisman wasn't fond of it).

In the mean time, Steph shot back with "SCOTT BAIO GUYS"... and I suddenly have the urge to do up a "Charles in Charge" logo with the Gargoyles font. HA!

I'm in agreement that having a black and white wanted poster of the only character that lacks any color anyway was probably not as eye catching as we need right now. Steph was nice enough to make the push-pins colorful for us though. ...Really isn't an eye grabber though.

I like the cover. While a lineup shot would have worked, I also think they've been done to death. With this cover, we get something that feels a little more unique. I mean, it's a first issue Gargoyles comic that doesn't even have a gargoyle on the front. I think that's a relatively bold move. A WANTED poster says to fans and newcomers, "Hey want to know why this shiny guy is wanted? Come and look!"
Matt H

I went to the comic store yesterday and looked through the Previews to see the article that Greg B mentioned last week. I love the front cover of Bad Guys, and I hope those who aren't familiar with the Gargoyle Universe become intrigued and buy it just to see what it's about. Give 'em a little taste and leave 'em wanting more.

Gargoyles: Clan Building Volume 1 -- I noticed it has a release date on Amazon of December 15th, which is a Saturday. I'm assuming the release date is probably incorrect. Sorry if this is old news.

Bad Guys cover: for a premier issue, yes, it would make more sense to have a shot of the whole team. But maybe they have wanted posters on each issue for each of the team-who knows.

Notice the Matrix is special-his poster has pushpins while the others on the board only have staples! ^_~

Bad Guys #1 Cover> Yeah, I'm not totally feeling the cover either. It is a fine image like Greg B. said. (Sweet looking corkboard, Ms. Lostimolo!) But if this is potenatially the theme for the cover of the miniseries, I agree that Robin might have been a better starting choice, or Yama, or even Fang, as new or casual fans might at least have a slim chance as recognizing them as characters with some connection to the main "Gargyles" storyline. And if we're not going to get "Wanted" posters for everyone, I agree that a group shot might have been more attention grabbing and serve the same purposes of connecting with new fans of the regular series that I mentioned before.

Minor gripes, though. Bring on the Bad Guys!

Demonskrye

Bad guys #1 cover> Hmmm, count me as another who would have preferred a nice action shot of the team for the debut issue.

I've got a feeling that the first 5 issues may go through the back story of each of the team members; this issue could start off with matrix's story.

Brigadoon Traveller

The GargWiki finally has the cover for Gargoyles: Bad Guys #1.

http://gargoyles.dracandros.com/Gargoyles:_Bad_Guys%2C_Issue_One

What do you all think? I personally think a money shot of the team would have been better, especially for a first issue. The idea of wanted posters for the team is a fun one, but would have served better as pin-ups in the back of the book... or start off with Hunter since she is, ahem, more visually interesting than Matrix.

Still, as always, great work from Greg Guler and Stephanie Lostimolo.

**SPOILERS?**
The whole situation gives me the impression that the Illuminati consider the gargoyles to be a very significant issue. I'm sure Xanatos' assignment has to do with them somehow (though it may be unclear to Xanatos how it's connected, depending on how convoluted their plans are).

Todd> Indeed. I look forward to seeing what Xanatos's assignment is. Though, it looks like we'll have to wait till #7 to find out.

I still don't think what Hacker said to Xanatos was necessarily legit though. Like others, he only knows what he's told, and he is a lower echelon member. But, he's obviously handling both Matt Bluestone and Castaway. Thailog has his own handler... but it's curious that he gets one as high up in the pyramid as Shari, while the others get a mere thirty-two.

Xanatos may be on the fast track for a promotion, depending on how his mission goes.

* SPOILERS *

One other thought about the Illuminati dealings in #3 and #5. We know now that Xanatos is on the bottom rung of the Illuminati, and that even if Duval isn't the head of the Illuminati, he's still very close to the top. In #2, Duval calls Xanatos on the phone, presumably making the phone call himself. In #4 and #5, Quincy Hemings, the other No. 2 in the Society, speaks to Xanatos in person at the White House, handing him the assignment for the Illuminati directly.

I wonder whether it is significant that Duval and Hemings are dealing (or attempting to deal) with a mere No. 36 like Xanatos face-to-face, rather than simply having somebody in one of the intervening tiers hand Xanatos the assignment for them. (They do send Hacker around, but only to ensure that Xanatos will go to the White House.) This suggests that the assignment that he's being given is extremely important, if it requires a direct meeting between a No. 2 and a No. 36.

Gargoyles - did for monstrous-looking statues what "Watership Down" did for rabbits!

New Olympians> Well, looking at what Greg said in "Ask Greg" when talking about the decision to introduce Terry as a 12 year old, it seems that Greg was ready to insert "New Olympians" into current "Gargoyles" time back when the show was on if someone had decided to greenlight the spinoff. But after a while, he decided that it was better to push "New Olympians" back a bit, which I think makes sense. Revealing the gargoyles and having the New Olympians reveal themselves to the rest of the world is a bit much for humanity (and any new fans picking up the comic) to handle. Now that decision was apparently made years ago, but Greg apparently never felt the need to mention it. We don't yet know how much, if anything, is changed by setting "New Olympians" sometime in the oughts as we don't know how much (if at all) the show would have crossed over with the main "Gargoyles" storyline. Nonetheless, I think it does say a little about the flexiable nature of the canon-in-training. Don't forget that "Gargoyles: 2198" used to be "Gargoyles: 2158" (which used to be "Gargoyles: Future Tense" until it was decided that was just too confusing.) So while some bigger truths are probably going to remain as Greg has said in the past (I'm not anticipating "Suprise! Lex is straight!" anytime soon), we can probably expect some details, both minor and major, to be shifted around.
Demonskrye

I also like Kayote's idea about the Illuminati's plans for the gargoyles. It certainly fits with what Hacker said in #3 and #4. And it is very similar to how they react to the Space-Spawn -- they support the one they think will win.

As for knowing the gargoyles' true nature, why would that stop Kayote's theory? Just because they know the gargoyles are a sentient, mortal, protective race, doesn't mean they want humanity to make peace with them. I think they'll want to do whatever is necessary to keep the power they've amassed.

After all, I'm sure they recognize an alien invasion for what it is, but still support the invaders. Then again, we have no idea if the leadership will change in the next 200 years.

Vaevictis Asmadi
"For every complex problem, there is a solution which is simple, easy, and wrong."

Cobra> Simple mathematics. 2005 because Terry Chung is 12 in 1996... and according the New Olympians pitch is 21 when he decides to sail around the world after graduating from MIT. Of course, that's all canon-in-training, and things can always be changed.

A review of the Spectacular Spiderman panel at Comic-Con over at CBR mentions that Vic Cook revealed the show is going to be produced in HD format. I'm assuming this includes a 16:9 aspect ratio as well. If so... SWEET!

Gorebash - [gorebash at s8 dot org]

Greg never set a date for "New Olympians". All we know is that it's after 1996 and during Xanatos' lifetime. So, circa 2005 feels right to me.

SPOILERS

As for Duval. I think he's still Percival, we just learned more about how the Illuminati operates. The Arthur theory makes so much sense, I'm already thinking it's true... until canon proves otherwise. Duval might become Number One after Arthur rejects the position, though.

Todd> We also know that the events of "The New Olympians" are probably a decade or more away now, which I don't believe way the original intention. I haven't read too much about what was going to happen in that particular series, so I don't know if the time shift is going to make for any changes to the plot.

I think it's important to keep in mind that, while Greg may have the series thought out with years and years worth of material, it is still a living thing and very subject to change for reasons completely aside from throwing off the fans who think they know everything that's going to happen (except for Lex's mate). I recall Greg referring to Xanatos's character arc that leads to his eventual priority shift as something of a surprise to both the other writers and to him, so I'm hoping the characters still have some more surprises in store for both us and for Greg.

Demonskrye

* SPOILERS FOR #5 *

I wonder if Greg might have made Duval a No. 2 rather than No. 1 in order to keep us from being too confident about the revelations that he made at "Ask Greg" over the past ten years.

Remember that Greg's often stated that he's regretted revealing as much as he did (though it's understandable, since at that time we were far from certain that he'd ever have the opportunity to revive the series in any official form), and has even openly speculated at times about altering the "canon-in-training" facts, in order to bring back some element of surprise.

Now, we know that so far two revelations at "Ask Greg" have been confirmed in the comic: the Illuminati are behind the Quarrymen, and Goliath and Elisa did go out on their double date with Delilah and Officer Morgan. On the other hand, making Duval a "No. 2" may be a deliberate change from the earlier "canon-in-training" statements about the Illuminati to keep us on our guard, and not be too certain that all the "canon-in-training" information is still accurate. For all that we know, maybe Duval is no longer the founder of the Illuminati; it might have predated Arthur's reign, and been founded by the mysterious No. 1. He might not even be Percival after all. At present, we don't know for certain.

Of course, even after all the information from "Ask Greg", Greg's still managed to deliver a few genuine surprises - such as revealing that Thailog's joined the Illuminati. It'll be interesting to see what other surprises await us in the comic that "Ask Greg" didn't prepare us for.

Greg: After the Radio Play rehearsal, the cast were all mulling over the revelations in issue 5. I said there might not be a number 1, but others insisted there must be. Some were suggesting maybe the Holy Grail itself was number 1, and then the idea of King Arthur just sort of popped into my head. Discussing it, the idea was sort of fleshed out, but I can't swear that I came up with all the details on my own, though I think I did. A couple minutes later, you walked over to us and gave your suggestion that 1 was Jesus. I said it might be King Arthur, and you were skeptical at first, but once I started explaining it, you said it was brilliant. In case you don't remember, I was the guy who played Matt Bluestone. So, I was the first one I know of to come up with the Arthur theory, but it was helped along by being able to talk to others. This is why I love fan speculation- together we come up with better ideas than we would individually; whole vs. sum of parts. Also, I'm sure I was the first one to realize there are 666 members (or at least slots) in the Illuminati, because the second the line explaining the Illuminati's structure was said in rehearsal, I started trying to figure out how many total members there were (18*37: half of 36 times one less than 36). It's something I do automatically, being a mathematician, but I wasn't expecting it to be anything meaningful. I didn't realize 666 is a triangular number.

One more thing. Someone suggested that there might not be a number 1 at all. It's a reasonable theory, and I thought that at first, so I asked Greg W. point blank later that night, "Is there a number 1?" "Of course," he replied. The next day someone asked if he'd given a lot of thought to who the various Illuminati members are, like number 1, and he said "I've given a ton of thought to who number 1 is; I know exactly who he is." So, yeah, it's someone all right. I think King Arthur, but I could be wrong. One thing I notice is that, if not for Greg's massive spoilers in the past, we wouldn't have this theory, because we wouldn't know Duval is Percival. Greg's surprised me a few times already, and I'm confident he can keep it up. Whether I'm right or wrong, I'm sure it'll be a good story.

Duval and Quincy> Just because they're equals on paper doesn't mean they are actually equals. Duval might be "first among equals" or have "seniority". I don't think Quincy is the son of Jefferson. If he were that'd mean Duval was sharing his special power with him. I doubt that. Rather I think he's a descendant of Jefferson. The Quincy thing makes me wonder how much a person's ancestry plays into their rank. Could it reflect the number of generations a person's family has been a member? Although were that the case rank is either relative or they add a new rank about every 20 years.

As for the society's intentions, I agree that they are not out to destroy gargoyles. At the same time I don't think they'd feel bad if the Manhattan clan were wiped out in pursuit of their own interests. But if we go with Arthur/Round Table as being a major influence on the society then perhaps their goal is to protect both gargoyle and man by controlling how they are revealed to society and direct it to happen in such a way that, eventually, the public comes around to accepting gargoyles or losing interest in them (perhaps via their perceived destruction, ala the Manhattan clan being blown up or something).

Actually, it was Greg who said that not every membership slot in the Illuminati is necessarily filled. There are 666 slots, not 666 members.

DPH> I still don't really understand your problem with there being less than 666 members in the Illuminati. As Alex Garg pointed out, it doesn't take that many people to affect the world. Hell, if you add up all the members of both Legislative Houses, the nine members of the Supreme Court and the President... that's less than 666 people, and they still affect the world (and keep each other in check) every single day.

Also, there may be people working for the Illuminati who don't have to be members. Xanatos is a member and obviously he has many people working for him. Castaway has the Quarrymen. Thailog has Sevarius, Brentwood and half of Nightstone Unlimited. Etc.

Also, keep in mind, the Illuminati doesn't control the world so much as they influence and manipulate.

"Thailog smaaaart" -Thom Adcox

I re-read issue 3 and 4 again before starting 5. I had thought 3 and 4 were great before but just knowing that I had the end of the story to look forward to made them that much better.

My first thought when I looked inside issue 5 was, "Wow, bright!". Compared to the dark tones of previous issues it took me a second to get used to, but after a couple pages I noticed how much easier it was to see whats going on and the similarities to the cartoon were superb. I look forward to Bad Guys even more.

SPOILERS

I didn't understand why Delilah was in the castle when Owen came to get her, but later when Delilah tells Goliath, "Delilah can mean nothing to me" "Isn't that what you said, Goliath?" I thought that was because Owen had taken Delilah to a room with a monitor or computer and he showed her surveillance footage of Goliath and Elisa talking.

But most others who mention it seem to think Delilah was spying on Goliath and Elisa while they were talking, so I don't know any more.

On the radio play Greg says something like, Owen gets Delilah from the lab. I didn't realize the room was a lab, but looking again there are test tubes on the table so since it is a lab then I wouldn't think thats the best place to show someone video footage.

But Greg didn't say, Owen *finds* Delilah in the lab, so it would seem Owen knew she was in there, and its plausible to think he knows she is there because he put her there.

YouTube's ten-minute length limit probably has more to do with system resources. It's pretty easy to take a network broadcast of a half-hour or one-hour T.V. program and break it down into three pieces less than ten minutes. Just split it at the commercial breaks.

***SPOILERS***

Probably so. The Society's been around for over 1300 years. So I'm sure Duval likes to be certain that the other Two is someone with views equal to his own. But one of the problems with people is that they're only human.

DPH: I don't know. Other people have expressed the idea that not every chair in the Society has to be filled at the same time. I like this idea. If you think about it, they would have had to have either gotten rid of, or have something happen to, two other people in addition to Mace, because they also acquired two other members in the span of a year.

**Spoilers**
I'm going to make a pretty big attempt to give myself a blank slate about the IS, but there are a few things I think.

Mace's death created an opening within the organization which ultimately, after handing out promotions, created the vacancy that Matt was able to fill.

I'm also going to theorize there is an active list of potential candidates to fill a "36" spot when the vacancy arrives.

One of my problems with having only 666 members is where would an internal affairs police force fit in. I would imagine there is a group preventing more ambitious members from creating vacancies in upper level positions that need to be filled.

One more interesting question is could Duval and/or Quincy take a real vacation away from jobs.

One more, relatively stupid question, which will hopefully be answered in the next comic book: How could the Society know about the world tour trip to meet up with Coldstone?

MATT H> "For instance, it would be very interesting if Duval and Quincy didn't see eye to eye... at all"

Nothing in the "Gargoyles" Universe is that simplistic or monolithic. Duval and Quincy probably see eye to eye on some things, and don't see eye to eye on other things.

I really, really am so confident in the Arthur theory that I don't think there is a Number One... yet. For now, I'm running on the assumption that Duval founded the Illuminati and I don't think he'd raise Quincy up to an equal seat if he didn't think he could work with him.

Greg Bishansky - [<---- The 12th Annual Gathering of the Gargoyles]
"Thailog smaaaart" -Thom Adcox

I'd like to discover some internal conflict inside the Illuminati as we learn more about it. For instance, it would be very interesting if Duval and Quincy didn't see eye to eye... at all. They could be competing to win the favor of #1, whoever he is. (Yes for right now, I believe the #1 chair is occupied by an actual person.) D and Q often make power plays against each other within the society. With an organization so comfortable with deceit, subterfuge, and covering tracks; how crazy would it be to see members double and triple crossing other members?
Matt H

Mordred and Agravain were also major causes of the Round Table's destruction.

Do you really think, if the Quarrymen killed half a dozen gargoyles, the Illuminati would shed any tears, beyond saying "Oh shucks, we'll have to start over from scratch on some other clan."

Vaevictis Asmadi
"For every complex problem, there is a solution which is simple, easy, and wrong."

I don't think that the Illuminati are out to wipe out the gargoyle species, simply because I don't see what they'd get out of it. What practical use are dead gargoyles? I think that the Illuminati would want to keep the gargoyles alive for the same reason that Xanatos did: living gargoyles are far more useful than dead ones.

Remember that a lot of Xanatos's schemes that were seemingly aimed at killing the gargoyles really had a different goal (take "Leader of the Pack", for example: Xanatos's real objective there was to get Fox out of prison). Maybe the Illuminati's real purpose for the Quarrymen was something different, similarly.

I think that Duval has deluded himself into believing that what he's doing is for the greater good. (Yes, the Illuminati contain people like Xanatos, Thailog, Castaway, and Mace Malone. But the knights of the Round Table included Mordred and Agravain.) He's probably come up with justifications for the Quarrymen and the Hotel Cabal.

*SPOILERS *

I don't know if Quincy is the actual son of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was descended from them or related to them. (I even put up a comment about that in his entry on the GargWiki, but Bishansky correctly removed it, pointing out that it was too close to an original idea.)

Gargoyles - did for monstrous-looking statues what "Watership Down" did for rabbits!

Sorry about the double post, with fixing my typos. I also meant "if it fit their plans", not "his plans".

GREG > I do agree its unlikely they want total genocide, but I don't think we can rule it out just because Thailog is a member. They probably have complex plans... no doubt they want control over the gargoyles and will use them for whatever they can, if possible... but as I said, if Hacker was anywhere near the truth with what he said to Xanatos and Matt, the Illuminati wouldn't have founded an organization which is likely to kill many gargoyles, and also quite capable of going on a propaganda campaign to influence public opinion.

The Illuminati surely have plans within plans within plans, and people like Hacker probably only think they know what strings they're pulling, while higher members pull their strings from above. I have the impression that in the Society, everybody is lying to and hiding things from and manipulating each other, all the way up to the top.

But whatever their plans, I'm positive that all of them will be bad news.

Greg B: I like the idea of the Number One spot being open for Arthur. But something I've been marinating on is the fact that Duval has an equal in the Society. Which makes me wonder just how much he is aware of what's going on. Obviously, he's still keeping his hand in things, since he knows that the gargoyles have resumed residence at the Eyrie Building. But at the same time (and this is just canon-in-training; Greg might surprise us again), he also spends a great deal of time at Carbonek. I'm wondering if Quincy has anything going on behind Duval's back.

The Illuminati> I don't think their plans for the gargoyles involve genocide. I'm still guessing, but I think it's more complicated than that. We already have the Quarrymen for the genocide angle. It would be redundant if the Illuminati wanted the exact same thing.

As for who's Number One? I am in the camp who believes Duval is keeping it open for Arthur. Like many movements, Percival may have started the Illuminati with the best of intentions. But, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I could see contact being made with Arthur, and Arthur not liking what he sees of the Illuminati at all, and refusing to lead them. Duval would, then most likely take the Number One position.

So, who thinks Quincy Hemings is one of Thomas Jefferson's illegitimate children?

"Thailog smaaaart" -Thom Adcox

I watched the radio play, Thank You Patrick! Now I can finally rejoin the cr.

That must be an amazing issue, even without seeing the art. Lots of shocking revelations, even despite the spoilers.

SPOILERS!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Duval isn't Number One? OK, that was spoiled for me beforehand (you naughty people) but it is shocking me still. Theories have been proposed which I would never have thought of. It would be strange for Duval to be an antagonist in Pendragon if he's been saving the #1 spot for King Arthur all these years. Clearly Greg wants to keep us totally guessing, judging from his non-answer to my question about it (and I'm not surprised that he's keeping the Secret Society all mysterious and secret).
My personal theory is that #1 is the Grail, or else Blancheflor. Perhaps once upon a time, when it was first founded, the Illuminati's activities were less... unwholesome... and that initially she may have participated. It's the sort of bizarre twist I can imagine Greg doing, somehow.
Besides, if the Illuminati is Perceval's idea of preserving Arthur's ideals against his return, he's got a weird perception of the King... of else King Arthur's reign wasn't the wonderful justice and compassion we believe? Yay for violent genocidal clubs and entire buildings dedicated to psychological torture.

Brentwood's choice -- I suspected at least one clone would choose Thailog (plus the cr spoiled this one). I wonder though, if part of his decision was simply to be contrary. His words, after all the other clones effectively choose *Delilah*, suggests he may have been simply waiting and watching to see what everyone else did, so he could do the opposite. Though clearly he admires Thailog too. And Thom Adcox's delivery of his lines was hilarious.

I feel sorry for Brooklyn ... he must have been desperate to ask Delilah (issue #4) because I would find the clones creepy, too. Though I don't blame them if they are offended by Lex's opinion of them. I think they should not be too angry about what was said on Coney Island, though -- after all, they were attacking the Manhattan Clan at the time.

And poor Judge Roebling. He has apparently adjusted to the idea of real gargoyles, and seems like a nice guy, but Delilah's comment must have thrown him for another loop! Evidently, she doesn't yet understand that mixed-species GMO human cloning is not the sort of thing that goes over well in polite society.

And (revealed by Greg W.) Brendan of all people is the one who called Dr. Sato! Well, maybe he isn't so bad. He's been shown to be afraid of the gargoyles, but apparently he isn't so cruel toward them as his wife. Hey, maybe he pities them for being on the receiving end of her malice! But I wonder, what this bodes for the character's future development... I can't help but wonder, how many people would simply take the gargoyles to be uber dangerous and flee, after seeing that fight. Maybe he didn't see it though.

Wouldn't it be a delicious, scrumptious moment to see Brendan finally snap and whew out Margot? I really, really hate her.

As for the Illuminati -- I don't think Thailog's membership (which shocked me!!) "proves" they don't share Castaway's goal. They're plainly using and lying to their #36 members, I see no reason why they wouldn't use Thailog too and then kill him, if it fit his plans. I can't imagine them starting the Quarrymen if they cared about massive gargoyle casualties. And what does Thailog care if the rest of the species is eliminated? Probably not much.
Though it is possibly that they put together the Quarrymen in order to keep an eye on the violent anti-garg types in NY, I seriously doubt it. I can't bring myself to expect anything remotely good from the Illuminati. The Quarrymen still scare me more, but the Society is creepy and nasty and slimy. I think they must surely have bad, bad things in plan for the gargoyles.

Calliphone> Stone sleep is changing the flesh and tissues of the body into a stone-like substance, and while it's pretty effective, it doesn't work miracles. Short answer, no, I don't think the blade or other foreign body will be changed or destroyed, it'll stay there, just like shrapnel will stay in human tissue unless taken out manually. The tissue will heal around it, maybe form some sort of barrier out of the wounded tissue -- I think I've heard of this happening in some cases -- but not much more.

I couldn't find this info in the archives, so I wondered if someone could please answer my question. Sorry if this is the wrong space (though if I read the site right it is)
Anyway, my question is: If a foreign object happened to be in a gargoyle's body when he went into stone sleep, would it be dissolved, say, when he woke up? For instance, if shrapnel of some kind were to get into his eyes and was not removed before sleep, would it be gone when he awakened? Or if a dagger was stabbed into his arm just before he fell asleep, would the blade be destroyed, causing the hilt to drop harmlessly off?
Thanks for your time.
