Have not been on in while but two questions and comments 1)Any body watch the Thundercats premier ? I thought it was very promising 2) Anybody planning on going to NY Comic con?

Ah, thanks. Seems I've grown too dependent on the Wiki, and forgotten all about checking the archives. I'll get on updating that page.

Arlo: The very first post in the "Gillecomgain" archive has the answer...

http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?qid=13052

Strange that the GargWiki hasn't been updated to reflect the info in this post, but eh; I'll leave someone with editing privileges to take care of the matter, LOL.

Not to change the subject, but I was just wondering if anyone knows whether Weisman has ever gone on record stating Gillecomgain's birthday, or at least how old he is. I see his age isn't mentioned on the Garg Wiki.

I watched the "ThunderCats" pilot. In short, I thought it sucked. In long...

Matt: I didn't forget it, LOL; nevertheless, I've never been particularly fanatical about the Hobbit/LotR (they're excellent pieces of literature and the films are, so far, fantastic adaptations, but the world of Middle Earth has never especially been my cup of tea), so I'm not sure I'm even going to see it. The film I'm most excited about for next year is, unsurprisingly, "The Dark Knight Rises"...but even that pales in comparison to my anticipation over "Legend of Korra."

For those curious as to what else was revealed about the series at SDCC, I would suggest checking out this link (but suffice to say that, yes, the core creative team is pretty much the same)...

Rebel: I've recently (well, in the past month or so) become a brony myself, LOL. In fact, my new avatar across the four corners of the internet is a pony done up like Uncle Iroh from "Avatar," whom I have affectionately dubbed "Irohny." XD

I loved the pilot of the new Thundercats show. I never actually watched the old show (will probably do that at some point), so I'm in a good position of being able to view the new show without feeling the need to compare it to the old one. From what I've read this new series seems to make a lot of changes so I think it's best for fans of the first Thundercats to view this new one as an entirely different series rather than thinking of it as a remake of Thundercats.

I'm also really excited for Legend of Korra, thanks so much for posting that trailer! If it's even half as good as the first Avatar series it will be worth watching.

Between Young Justice, the new Thundercats, Legend of Korra, and My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, I feel like right now is a good time to be an animation fan!

Rebel

@Rebel, thanks for the link! I forgot to set the DVR.

The Pilot (Eps 1 & 2) were fantastic. Looks like I have another series recording to set.

@Masterdramon, thanks for sharing the link the the "Legend of Korra" trailer. This is one series I will not miss.
"Avatar: The Last Airbender" is probably in my top 5 favorite animated series of all time. I assume if it's the same talent on board for this project that they will not disappoint and hopefully not recycle either.

Anthony Tini

I'm most looking forward to Django, which is Quentin Tarantino's next movie.

You must've forgotten about "The Hobbit" coming out at the end of next year. That is what I'm most excited about.

On a vaguely similar note, has anyone else managed to check out the trailer screened at Comic-Con for the the upcoming "The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra" series? To put it mildly...this footage has me more excited for this series than anything else coming out in any entertainment medium next year. :D

Thanks for the link Jacob. Alas it's not of much use to those without TVs and TV providers.

In case anyone else is still looking, I did manage to find a link to watch it online. I don't know how long this will last:

It looks like the Cartoon Network website has it... if you have one of seven specific television companies.

There are other online sources, but they aren't legal.

Jacob M. - [stlm.jake@gmail.com]

Has anyone found an online source for the pilot of the new Thundercats? I've had no luck.
Rebel

So, who watched the premiere of the new Thundercats series? I particularly liked a certain line we're all familiar with around here coming from King Claudus...

haha, yeah come to think of it, you're right. That's probably all it was. Although, look at Matt's face when Elisa jumped up to say "Well......hi!" when she met Jason. I think he might have been carrying a little torch.

ARLO> Definitely nothing going on between Matt and Elisa. Although, I can't help but wonder if Chavez thought there was. I mean, she did see the step out of a broom closet together.

Arlo > Nah, nothing going on between them. Maybe if Elisa had never met Goliath.
Rebel

So what's with that scene at the end of "Revelations" where Chavez says "Looks like you two finally found each other," and Elisa and Matt look at each other and blush, and the Gargoyles romance music plays? Is there something going on between Elisa and Matt?

GREG> Conan and Goliath tend to have somewhat similar attitudes to the mystic arts. I wonder if that's partly why Demona kept her apprenticeship with the Archmage a secret. Perhaps, the Wyvern Clan had some prejudice toward magic users in general. Probably didn't help that Archmage and pre-massacre Magus weren't the most amiable guys.

Algernon
Man, 2010 was a crazy year. Remember when the monolith turned Jupiter into a star? Good times.

JURGAN> I know it was used in "Conan the Adventurer" which predates "Gargoyles" by two years.
Greg Bishansky
"Cartman gets ten million dollars and Michael Bay gets to keep making movies. There isn't a God." -Kyle

A google search on the phrase "what sorcery is this?" shows it's achieved something of a meme status, appearing in various places, sometimes with slightly different wordings. However, I can't find any uses as early as 1994, except maybe an episode of Batman: TAS. It seems like the phrase originated with Gargoyles and broke free into the ether, and is now used by some people unaware of its origins.
Jurgan - [jurgan6@yahoo.com]

In a very round-about way this might almost be semi-related to Gargoyles. It's a memo from Paramount regarding actors who were coming in to read for various roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

http://www.sliceofscifi.com/2006/11/01/the-memo-that-never-was/

This kind of stuff is fun. I can't imagine anyone else in these roles now. Although in Gargoylesverse I could easily imagine Nana Visitor as Fox since she and Laura San Giacomo sound similar. Although I think Laura San Giacomo has the edge sexy voiceness.

Man, if I ever got hired by Merriam Webster I'd totally destroy the English language.

Gorebash

I've never heard anyone say "What sorcery is this?" in anything but an homage to Gargoyles...

Still, it might be a coincidence.

I know there are some TGWTG fans out there, so I thought some might like to know that there's a Gargoyles reference in Linkara's latest video, reviewing comicbook ads. I won't spoil it, but click on my name or follow this link:

I've never really gotten the point of that meme. If you need an angry mouthpiece to spout your own views through subtitles...why in the Hell would you choose the one man who every educated person in the world would automatically disagree with?

And in any event, the fact that he bashed both "Young Justice" and "Batman: Brave and the Bold" invalidates his argument immediately. If you hate "Brave and the Bold," you hate fun. ;D

even if the animation was cut at some part near the end. the story arcs you have were always really neat. with goliath understanding love for his child and elisa. and teaching not to hate what you dont understand. i have to say it remind to always be kind to people when i was little kid. anyway again great show! =D

7th and I have to admit to being guilty of liking Beavis & Butthead. Even got some of those old Marvel Comics issues based on the cartoon.

But yeah, Daria is better and I look to get the show on DVD sometime.
