That art would look great on an album cover! Then again, so would the rest of the Gargoyles' cast, if done in a similar manner.

(Posted this after being influenced by VH1Classic's Metal Evolution series, obviously!)

The Macbeth art is good. His hair did remind me of Kaine from Spider-Girl.

I have always seen Macbeth with a nice mane. Maybe, depending on the situation, even a bit more fuzzy than in this picture. Especially in the CoS episodes there are some scenes where his hair looks very bushy.
Nice topic - Macbeths hair. xD

The art is pretty nice. The only problem is that I don't think Macbeth's hair is that shaggy/long, but otherwise it's very good.

You know what would be awesome? I know this is unlikely, but....

We get Season Two, Volume Two, and after that we get Clan Building and Bad Guys turned into DVD motion comics, complete with the voice actors returning and a musical score.... and it can be titled "The Complete Third Season"

... one of the extras on that one can be the ceremonial burning of all the negatives and copies of "The Goliath Chronicles"

Hi we got here in Victoria BC Canada Disney XD and Disney JR channels, Disney Gargoyle airs at 1 A.M here, I just saw the first ep of the Third season.

I think that the rest of the series should be out on DVD,

Going to re-post this from last week since Gorebash posted here again today...

"On a somewhat related note, and since Gorebash happens to be in the vicinity...any word on my offer to help out with the screening of YJ-related questions? My e-mails haven't been receiving answers since 10/28.

I understand completely if the process for getting everything into place is taking a while, but I'd really appreciate a heads-up. Thanks. :)"

I'm trying not to be too much of a gadfly about this, but...

Rebel & Masterdramon> And suddenly so much makes sense. Thanks for the info.
Ross

Adding to that, the name is derived from
Edmund of "King Lear," Greg's favorite Shakespearean character, and a thinly guised acronym for "bastard" - an appropriate descriptor of Edmund on at least two levels. More or less (as far as I've heard anyway, since I've never been at a Blue Mug), he's basically Greg wearing an eyepatch. Snapper Carr (voiced by Greg) wearing an eyepatch in the Halloween episode of YJ is a reference to this.
I'm also fully convinced that Greg actually should include him as a character in the Gargoyles Universe, because I just love mind-bending metafiction. XD

Todd: Once again, great to hear your thoughts on YJ. And yes, if comics history holds (and there hasn't been a single adaptation yet where it hasn't in this regard), then you are very wise to be cautious around
Orm
.

A Geek and Ross >
The tension between Greg and Edmund is just a joke that's become a little overplayed. Edmund Tsabard is actually the pseudonym that Greg Weisman uses when he works on Blue Mug Productions. I think he uses an alter-ego because it wouldn't be too smart for someone like Greg, who works primarily in animated shows for children, too attach his name to a property that is basically porn.
Rebel

Seconding A Geek's question. I've been meaning to ask that as well - I mean, I've gleaned that he writes Blue Mug Productions, but I'm entirely in the dark as to why he's Greg's nemesis.

Chip> The quote in your signature ftw.

Todd>>
Actually, I'm fairly sure that Prince Orm is Ocean Master and a member of the Light
I checked out the DVD of "Young Justice" Season One Volume Two from the library today, and watched the four episodes on it this afternoon (since today's my day off). Here are a few thoughts I had on it.
SCHOOLED: I was a bit surprised to see Bruce Wayne in Metropolis, though it makes sense that a major company like Wayne Industries would have buildings in more places than just Gotham City.

Liked the tensions between Superman and Superboy, and the fact that it hasn't been resolved yet; there's room for more trouble in future episodes. (Other people mentioned this already, but I thought Clark and Bruce's orders at the diner were utterly appropriate.)

It's good to hear Amazo's name; I'd seen it before, but when it's on the page, it looks as if it's derived from "Amazon". Hearing it pronounced makes it clear that it's derived from "amazing".

Ivo's monkey robots put me in mind of the Winged Monkeys somehow (maybe the fact that I've been rereading "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" lately) - and they come out of a cornfield (though I know that the cornfield shows up a lot earlier in the story, both the book and the movie, than the monkeys do). Got a laugh out of Ivo talking about all the work he put into finding an acronym for "monkey".

And I liked the way the team finally defeated Amazo (who definitely struck me as a challenging opponent).

INFILTRATOR: I think that Red Arrow chose a good new name for himself; as the season premiere showed, "Speedy" really seems more suited for a guy with super-speed like Kid Flash than an archer. (Fortunately, Artemis' name does fit an archer.)

Inspired by Robin being the one who makes the most word-play in the series - I thought, when he talked about the Fog decimating Star Labs, that "decimate" wasn't the best word for that. "Decimate" originally meant to kill one out of ten people (it stemmed from an old Roman punishment for mutinying groups of soldiers; kill one soldier out of each ten), so it would have been more appropriate if the Fog had destroyed 10% of Star Labs, rather than 100%.

The telepathic teenaged arguments, and Dr. Roquette's exasperation at hearing them telepathically, were great.

Some good tension about Artemis' introduction in the group, and the possibility that her teammates should be cautious about her (especially in light of her connections with the cat-masked assassin).

SCHOOLED: I checked the ending credits at the end, and discovered that Ed Asner did the voice of Kent Nelson - and did a fine job of it. I liked Nelson; he's certainly a lively old fellow (such as when he exposes the phony psychic in the opening scene). Incidentally, Asner's voicing him reminded me of his voicing Uncle Ben in "The Spectacular Spider-Man", especially since Ben was advising Peter in the episode where he returned to help him against the alien symbiote, much like Kent was advising Kid Flash.

I remembered Klarion in an episode of "The New Batman/Superman Adventures", but this Klarion's a lot creepier. More like a demon (or Lord of Chaos, to be precise) in the form of a boy than a mere spoiled brat with magic.

I wonder if Dr. Fate was making use of some of Kid Flash's mischievous streak in his precise way of defeating Klarion's henchman: stripping him down to his underwear!

And wouldn't you know that the bulk of this episode would be set in Salem?

DOWNTIME: I guessed from the gargoyle that the opening scene was Gotham City, even before the caption appeared.

I'd seen some discussion of the Atlantean dialogue (with English subtitles) here earlier (including Aris Katsaris' comments on it); I recognized one word from it, "anax" for "king", which I remembered from my high school classes on Homeric Greek.

Liked Alfred's cameo (he's one of my favorite characters from the Batman mythos), and got a laugh out of Superboy watching static, Red Tornado walking in and finding Megan cooking and Superboy covered with food, and the Flashes' family party (with the indication that they've produced three Flashes, with the first Flash presumably a contemporary of Kent Nelson).

I wonder about Prince Orm. He claims to be loyal, but I've seen plenty of cases of younger brothers to kings who start scheming for the throne, especially once the older brother has a son who will become the new No. 1 in line of succession (John Lackland - though his nephew Arthur was the son of Geoffrey, who died after getting stepped on by a horse in a tournament before Richard the Lion-hearted became king of England, Richard III, Claudius in "Hamlet", Miraz in "Prince Caspian", Scar in "The Lion King", etc.). I wonder if Prince Orm will fall victim to the same temptation.
All in all, four fun episodes. Pity that it'll be a while before I can submit my review to "Ask Greg".

Todd Jensen

Anyone notice the mild similarities between the new Thundercats and Gargoyles? Panthro's damaged eye and Mumm-ra's wings were visual similarities that immediately stood out to me. Clancy Brown's voice stood out to my ears as well. The story telling feels more mature and the way continuity is handled (i.e. it exists) reminds me of Gargoyles too. And the whole first season has a "world tour" feel about it.

There are elements of the show I'm not a big fan of (Snarf), but overall I think it's a nice reboot of a universe I grew up with.

Gorebash

I feel silly for asking this, but who is "Edmund Tsabard" ?

In the roleplay response recently posted in ask greg, some posts make reference to Edmund Tsabard, but I haven't heard that name before. So I tried the all knowing google, but it seems to not be kind to me today.

So.... anyone care to share? :) (or point to a website with the answer is that is easier than explaining)

Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the Double poat.

I'd take them airing the series in order over airing TCG, since it S***'s soccer balls, but then ANY Gargoyles exposure is better than noe at all.

I'll check out TCG. I haven't seen them in about three years, and even then I only saw about four episodes; the rest I haven't seen since 1997. I'd like to see the crap that will probably make me sick again. :P

I DID IT!!! I WATCHED ALL 485 BEST PICTURE NOMINEES IN ONE YEAR!!!

So, a few weeks ago, when the DVDs were "announced" or what ever that was, I posted in the "Home Theater Forum" that the DVDs were "tentativly" slated to be released in 2012. GUESS WHO RESPONDED???

Yah, you guessed it.

He responded by telling me I should ask Disney if they in fact RE releasing them, when I just posted that they were. ???

And not only that, but he posted that same comment TWICE.

I got this comment yesterday:

"Why is Disney releasing Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 and Season 3 both on DVD in 2012?" (That comment in itself is bizzare...)

Like, should they not release them, at all???

"Is that great and exciting news and are the DVD's for Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 and Season 3 both being" produced with episodes and special features?"

No, Disney is going to release the DVDs with nothing on them! $29.99 for a three disc set of blank coasters!

Oi Vey.

I realise you gotta be patient with this guy, but...

Oi!

Wingless> I'm happy that at least Disney is smart enough to air TCG AFTER season two. Sucks they AERN'T smart enough to air the show in order... :/

"ThunderCats" had their season finale last week so I wonder if the they will return with new episodes when "Young Justice" returns. That would be cool. (Anyone who missed the season premiere of "ThunderCats" can watch part 1 this Friday at 8:30 PM and part 2 next Friday.)

Just noticed that Greg's 'movie' edit of "Awakening" is available on amazon.co.uk. It's on UK VHS so I doubt anyone here will be interested but I figured I'd mention it anyway. Although, for obvious reasons, I prefer the 5-episode format, the movie edit is still interesting to see. Link on my name if anyone's interested.

C> If I had to ask, it's a standard "winter hiatus." New episodes could return any time from January to March - like Landon said, that's up to Cartoon Network.

I can't help but think of Greg's ramble on Galaxy Quest with his response to your post, Masterdramon ;)

Landon: Dang, guess we'll have to wait till 2012 to see the New Year's Eve finale episode . . .

But hey, that does explain the queue closing up, definitely gives Greg a chance to catch up a bit d:

And I love that Young Justice #10's cover is an homage to Captain Atom #7's cover :)

On the subject of "Macbeth" and contemporary language, I once saw an stage adaptation at the University of Hawaii that took what I thought was a rather clever compromise.

While all of the English dialogue was word-for-word unabridged Shakespeare, new lines were added-in in a variety of foreign languages. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, for example, frequently spoke privately in the Romance Languages (the only ones to do so in the play), whereas Duncan and his court conversed in Japansese.

It was an...unusual performance, to be sure. But interesting.

RICHARD JACKSON - That's probably the same graphic novel adaptation of "Macbeth" that I saw in the local bookstore a couple of years ago; I remember it also had the family tree of the historical Macbeth in it.

I agree with you about updating Shakespeare's language; his writing style is part of the reason for his appeal, and removing it dilutes the play.

Todd Jensen

Months ago, I bought a graphic novel adaptation of Macbeth. Quite a painful read, since they updated it into colloquial English. But a silver lining is that there's an excellent three page essay in the back about the real Macbeth's history and a family tree, which includes Maíl Brigti's branch. So if you ever see it at your library or if you can order it through interlibrary loan, it might be worth checking out. Skipping the comic portion, of course. http://www.amazon.com/Macbeth-Graphic-Novel-American-English/dp/1906332460/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1322540297&sr=1-1

I've noticed something; practically all the known Gargoyles' clans have at least some representation on Formspring. Save one: the Pukhan clan. I wonder if that clan's leader will show up eventually...
