I have been looking over Gargoyles fan sites and in the credits for some of the voice actors I have found the following:

Gargoyles: Brothers Betrayed (1998)
Gargoyles: The Force of Goliath (1998)
Gargoyles: The Hunted (1998)

After scanning your FAQs I am unable (or just blind) to find out what these are. Would you be good enough to tell me. Thanks
Brian

Greg responds...

Sure.

In the late 90s, Buena Vista Home Entertainment released the first season of Gargoyles on 5 home videos. I'll list the videos with the episodes they presented below:

1. GARGOYLES: The Movie: The Heroes Awaken
"Awakening, Part One"
"Awakening, Part Two"
"Awakening, Part Three"
"Awakening, Part Four"
"Awakening, Part Five"
[Note that this was an edited movie version of our five-part pilot, originally created for a special World Premiere screening in September, 1994.]

2. GARGOYLES: The Hunted
"The Thrill of the Hunt"
"Temptation"

3. GARGOYLES: The Force of Goliath
"Deadly Force"
"Enter Macbeth"

4. GARGOYLES: Deeds of Deception
"The Edge"
"Long Way to Morning"

5. GARGOYLES: Brothers Betrayed
"Her Brother's Keeper"
"Reawakening"

All of these episodes -- UNCUT -- will be available on December 7th, 2004 on DVD. Along with some cool extras.

Okay, so I'm sitting here watching the Halloween Gargoyles Marathon on Toon Disney when City of Stone comes on.

All goes well, until I notice another crazy edit-- the word terrorist.

When the Weird Sisters-as-little-girls are telling Goliath it was good of him to spare the terrorist, and warning him not to be like her, they cut off his response, "I'll never be like this terrorist," to, "I'll never be like this."

Not too bad, really, but they wouldn't let the Weird Sisters say it either. "We were not talking about this--" I dunno. Maybe a first time viewer wouldn't notice anything off... but I did.

Just thought you and the other folks around here might want to know. Toon Disney sure has its issues.

Greg responds...

Sigh. Yeah. The notion that a single word becomes problematic, even when used correctly strikes me as an overreaction.

And yet... and yet....

If you put your mindset back to the days immediately following 9/11...

A little extra sensitivity is hard to complain about...

Ok who knows what happened, i always tape gargoyles at 11:00 god knows how long ive been trying to get season 2 on tape, everytime i seem to tape it ,something goes wrong and i have to start over now the one time im finally doing ood, havent missed one episode and the poop heads change the time !! i wasnt home that day when it was taping i come home re-wind it and theres some stupid talk dog thats in school, and what makes even more stupid no one knows it a dog. Why was the time changed?, and why did they just skip a lot of the episodes?, and for the most part when are they gonna fix it ?. I doubt that you know the answers to these I don't think they have to tell you that they wanna change the time, so I guess I'll write Toon Disney a letter. But if you do know the answers get back to me ( even know it will be to late by then, owell)
danke for taking your time to read this

Greg responds...

This isn't a question, but I read some discussion on the terrorist attacks of 9/11 here. It might interest you to know that in City of Stone Part 1, in its current airings on Toon Disney, have both sentences where the word "terrorist" is used cut.

The original lines:

Goliath: I'll never be like this terrorist.

Luna: We were not talking about this terrorist.

The edited lines go:

Goliath: I'll never be like this.

Luna: We were not talking about this.

Greg responds...

Wow. They didn't just cut lines, they changed them. I wonder how? Did they bring Keith and Kath in to re-record? Did they use sound alikes? Did they cut and paste words from somewhere else? A lot of effort.

I wonder if they're still airing the adjusted version on Toon Disney & Jetix.

Greg responds...

I have no idea. Sorry.

You can watch the show on either Toon Disney or ABC Fammily.

And a DVD of the first season is due out by the end of the year.

Hi Greg. I started watching Gargoyles on Toon Disney over my younger sisters shoulder a few weeks ago and haven't stopped since. Alas I've discovered that Toon Disney are only showing about half the total number of episodes, so there are probably gaping holes in my understanding of the overall theme (I get the impression there is one - correct me if I'm wrong;-).

First off, very well done. I'm very impressed. Not only are they extremely well written and animated, but there is subtlety of dialogue and expression! In a Disney Cartoon? Indeed.

Secondly: just finished City of Stone. Missed part of it the first time round. There's only one thing I can say... "Oi! The tragedy!" If Demona is not one of the most cathartic characters created in the last century I don't know who is! Despite her brutal treatment of Goliath it's hard not to empathise with her, or to enjoy her episodes perhaps more than the rest (is this unhealthy?;-). Macbeth is the perfect counterpoint, another very good character and equally engaging in his own way. However, I am frustrated. I glanced down an episode list and couldn't find anything further devoted to them. How does their story conclude? I must know!

Thirdly: somewhere I posted an e-mail to a Gargoyles site and the owner told me a film had been on the cards for the last five years, but with no apparent progress. Is anything known that you could tell? I did wonder if, when the reply mentioned it might be live action, whether this might change as a result of the successes of CGI films in recent years. I wonder which would best suit the genre - CGI or live action? With CGI the original voice cast could be used, of course.

Sorry for the long message, and thanks for indulging a new initiate.

Greg responds...

First off, as far as I know Toon Disney regularly showed EVERY episode (in order) except "Deadly Force". (And I understand they've started showing that one too.)

I'm not sure how glancing at an "episode list" (a list of titles?) would reveal anything about the contents of our episodes.

Of course, you posted this in 2002 and it's 2004 now, so I'm assuming that if you had a real interest you've seen all the eps by now. But, yes of course we did more episodes with Demona and Macbeth after City of Stone. Many more.

My latest information is that the Live-Action movie has been put on hold. After five plus years of Touchstone actively pursuing a script, they finally gave up.

***IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ!!***

Hiya, Greg. I can't get into the comment rooms right now, so I'm hoping that you and the other fans will read this in on the submission page, since it'll be another nine months before you recieve this to comment on. ^_^ Anyway, I've got...

****FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!!****

On Continental Airlines for the month of June, they will be showing "Awakenings, Pt. 1" as a follow-up to "Monsters Inc" on many of their flights! I caught it flying eastbound from Newark to Houston. THEY'RE SHOWING GARGOYLES ON AIRPLANES!! This is fabulous! Could this be a sign of a future DVD release, or even...*gasp* a new season?!

Here's a quick list of the flights it'll be on:
*North America to UK, Hawaii, Spain, Latin America
*All Domestic flights within the US & Guam to Hawaii
*North America to Belgium, France, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Japan
*Italy, Brazil, Portugal, China to North America

These listings are from the Main Cabin Attractions magazine I got on the plane.

So, if any Gargoyles fans plan on being on these flights for the month of June, encourage your fellow passengers to watch "Monsters Inc" and to stay tuned for the show afterward!

~H\A~

Greg responds...

More like 22 months.

That is kind of amazing. And I never heard about it otherwise. Still, you have to wonder about them showing "Awakening I". They show the first part of a multi-parter. One that ends with a pretty massive 10th century cliff-hanger. It's a great episode, I think. But an odd choice for a flight.

These days, (nearly two years after you posted, so I hope you checked your local listings and didn't wait for my answer) I believe, the series airs on both Toon Disney and ABC Family. Again, check local listings for days and times.
