What was Zatanna's reaction to finding out Nightwing used her charm to "kill" off Artemis, and led her to believe her best friend had died?

Also, had Zatanna come in contact with Tigress, and assuming she can recognise when there's magic stuff going on around her, would she have been able to see through her charm? Or would have had to come to the conclusion that was her charm and make a logical assumption who it was?

Greg responds...

1. For the time being, I'll leave that to your imagination.

2. I think it's safe to say that Zatanna did not come into contact with Artemis-as-Tigress until just before "Summit" at the soonest.

He was in the process of ceasing.

Hey Greg hope your novel is turning out well I look forward to reading it.Anyway, these questions are about the mutates, clones and Labyrinth Clan.

1). For the most part how do the majority of mutates and humans view the Gargoyle clones? Is it more of a blessing more bodies or a burden because of the lack development and free will?

2). By 2198 how do the mutate members and the gargoyle clone members view each other is it animosity different origins possibly beliefs, respectful because of shared location or have they established a unique culture that blends the various backgraounds of the groups making alot more differnt than your typical Garg clan?

3) You mention that by 2198 the two different clans in NY would have different priorties which is why they did not merge. Is there any animosity from the two clans because of different origins?

4). We know Talon and Maggie can have children but could different members of the mutate group have kids with another like Claw with Lisa despite being mixed with different species DNA?

5). How does the current Manhatten Clan view the Labyrinth "Clan"(not yet a Clan I know) Do they feel like they need to show the Clones and Mutates, Gargoyle customs or is it more like let them find their own way and we'll give advice as needed kind of deal?

Greg responds...

1. A mixed blessing, I guess.

2. SPOILER REQUEST.

3. I wouldn't say animosity. But they don't always see things eye to eye.

4. We don't know that. We know Maggie's pregnant. Anything beyond that is a SPOILER REQUEST. (Also, I'm not sure I understand your question... are you trying to mate off Claw with Elisa?)

5. More the latter.

And RAIN OF THE GHOSTS, BOOK TWO: SPIRITS OF ASH AND FOAM is going very well. In fact, I've finished writing it and sent it off to my editor at St. Martin's Press yesterday! Thanks for asking (and for giving me any excuse to pimp it!)

RAIN OF THE GHOSTS BOOK TWO: SPIRITS OF ASH AND FOAM Progress Report

RAIN OF THE GHOSTS BOOK TWO: SPIRITS OF ASH AND FOAM Progress Report

And here's another of my shameless attempts to maintain buzz about my new novel, RAIN OF THE GHOSTS, due out in stores and on-line on December 3rd, 2013 (but available for pre-order NOW on Amazon, etc.):

http://www.amazon.com/Rain-Ghosts-Greg-Weisman/dp/1250029791

There's not too much to report about the first book right now - though as stated in an earlier ramble, you can now see the book's front and back covers up on the above website.

And in the meantime, I'm happy to announce that earlier today, I e-mailed off the SECOND BOOK in the RAIN OF THE GHOST series, SPIRITS OF ASH AND FOAM, to Michael Homler, my editor at St. Martin's Press. As you can imagine, hitting send was a pretty momentous moment for me. It took me just two weeks shy of a year to research, outline, write and proofread the entire novel. Fifty weeks. Of course, if I had stayed unemployed, I would have been done sooner, but I can't say I'm unhappy that I got the job on STAR WARS REBELS. I'm thrilled about that. But it did make finishing the book more of a challenge.

But it's done. They'll be some editing and maybe a bit of tinkering, but we're on track for SPIRITS to come out on May 13th, 2014. It can also be pre-ordered at:

http://www.amazon.com/Spirits-Ash-Foam-Ghosts-Novel/dp/1250029821/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1379918087&sr=8-1&keywords=spirits+of+ash+and+foam+a+rain+of+the+ghosts+novel+by+greg+weisman

Of course, I'm really hoping that you guys not only buy copies of these books, but that you help me SPREAD THE WORD about them. It's a nine book series, but if these first two don't sell, you won't see the other seven any time soon. And even if everyone who ever stops by ASK GREG bought two copies, I'm not sure that'd be enough. So, please, if you've ever liked my animation work, trust that you'll like this book, and in any case, again, help SPREAD THE WORD!

Thank you.

Was the development of Dick and Barbara's relationship not shown on screen due to time constraints? I know you said a lot of the time that what was shown and who was shown was done so because they were crucial/relevant to the plot, and I can see why a romantic relationship would not be. Or was it something that was always supposed to solely be developed in the tie-in comic?

Greg responds...

With unlimited screen time, I'm sure we would have dealt with it on screen. But given that we went into development and production of the season knowing we had what we had, there was never any real intent to delve into it on screen. Though I like to think our characterization was consistent with what we knew about them - which was given more space in the comics.

A Flash Fan writes...

Hi Greg,

Sorry I repeated the number 3 on my last post...

I had a few other questions regarding the 21st MFD...

1. The location was the Arctic. Was this in some way to mirror the events of Failsafe and how there Artemis "died" but in Endgame Wally "ceased"?

2. How close or far was Superman's Fortress of Solitude from the location of the chrysalis?

3. There are no Zeta in the Arctic so where did Wally Zeta to and how long did it take him to reach Barry and Bart?

4. Has the Light always looking for the death of a Flash? I ask because I think it seemed it was their goal with Neutron and Lex probably knew his theory to destroy the MFD would kill a Flash.

Thank you...

Greg responds...

1. It was Earth's magnetic north pole specifically. If you see parallels, well... who am I to say they aren't there?

2. Further than the human eye can see. But it was really close to Santa's Village. ;)

3. He zeta'd to the farthest north tube on Earth that the League has and ran straight from there.

4. The Light wasn't behind Neutron. The Reach was. I do think the Reach viewed Flash as a particular threat, relative to the Leaguers who were still on Earth at that time.

Hey, Greg! Love Gargoyles, excited for Rain of the Ghosts, and I just reread the comics and have a question about the clones.

We know that if gargoyles A and B are cloned, the clones, C and D, will have photo-negative coloration. Now, let's say A and C are female, and B and D are male. Let's also say that A and B do not become mates, but C and D do. The egg, E, is not artificially sped up, but develops over the ten year period. When E hatches, will its coloring resemble that of A/B or C/D?

Just curious about the practical application of the clones. Also, I think a Gargoyles Kickstarter would be a great idea! Have a nice day!

Greg responds...

Oy, that made my head hurt.

Well, first - you need to remember that the color change was a result of the accelerated aging, not of the cloning process.

So the assumption that C and D are photo-negative assumes that they were accelerated. Not a safe assumption, but for the sake of argument...

Would E's colors resemble A/B or C/D?

I do not know. I'd have to consult my Garg-science buddies.
