((So I can search this easier in 3-6 months I'm going to post my name in the question Wonderfulakari ))

Okay now to the question. How in the hell is Margot Yale and Brendon Quarters still alive? Are they cursed? Are they part of Team Rockets immortality club? Did they have friends with super-glue who reassembled them after Demona blasted them in city of stone? Are they a fixed point in time? Has David tried to learn their secrets?

Greg responds...

I've answered this before. Margot and Brendan were not killed by Demona in City of Stone. The statues that looked vaguely like them, were not them. Check the archives for a fuller explanation.

Hey, long time Gargoyles fans and I got a bit of an odd question, and I don't think it's been asked before (at least from my searches).

Since in the gargoyles world fairies, god/goddess, and other mythical creatures exist a thought strikes me...do Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and Tooth Fairy actually exist in the Gargoyles world or at least some kind of version of them?

I know it's a bit of a silly question, but they do come from old stories just like all other mythological beings do. So, I couldn't help, but wonder.

Greg responds...

As I've said before, there's a version of Santa Claus, for sure. In fact, there's an entire Santa Claus archive here at ASK GREG, so you didn't search very hard.

As for the others, no spoilers.

I did go to see someone; I started soon after Young Justice started. But the early days weren't easy. Knowing that I'd miss the rest of the show if I killed myself gave me something concrete to hang onto. So. Thank you.

Greg responds...

You're welcome. Please take care of yourself.

Name five of your favorite animated shows not run by you in no particular order.

Counting live action as well what TV show gets you most excited for the next episode?

Greg responds...

I dunno. I may have to turn in my geek card, because my brain doesn't rank things. In times past, I've loved the Simpsons, Futurama, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Jonny Quest, Space Ghost, the Herculoids and many more.

I still watch a ton of television. I'm about four weeks behind, and there's a lot I like, but nothing that makes me want to jump things ahead in the queue. There's nothing I binge. I generally don't like binging stuff. I'd rather watch one episode at a time.

Greg,
I loved your work on Young Justice. The show really shows the hard work and time you and the rest of the creative team put into it. I really loved the character design, plots, and how your were able to take the characters of such a huge and overwhelmingly popular univers and depict them in your own ways, but still stick to their origins. A character that I love in pretty much every adaptation he had a appeared in is Wally West and that includes the way you have made his character out to be in this series. I don't know if you have previously answered this or not but my question involves just this character.

What exactly inspired you to go in the direction you did with Wally West/Kid Flash? And why? (As far as his utterly tragic yet brilliant send off in the episode "endgame"). Which by the way I thought was excellent. There's no better way to send off and honor such an amazing hero in this kind of show. My question is manly out of curiosity and wonderment, because I'm sure there were many ideas contemplated with the role and direction this character and many others that you all had in mind. I don't know if it really fits in the regulations given and can be answered, if not I'm sorry. Once again, thank you all for the effort you put in to the show and giving us such a great piece of art and entertainment. Every episode was outstanding.

Greg responds...

We're glad you liked the series and Wally.

But honestly, I'm not sure I understand the question. We looked at Wally West stories from many different eras and put together what we felt was a classic and iconic yet contemporary version of the character, one that fit into the coherent, cohesive continuity that we were trying to create for the show. Much credit should be shared with my partner Brandon Vietti, character designer Phil Bourassa and voice actor Jason Spisak.

Hi Greg!

I wanted to ask...
That Timeline of the Gargoyles Universe you said you wanted to publish is still likely to come out one day?

Thanks for your patience.

Greg responds...

Anything's possible, but it seems less likely. I wouldn't want to publish spoilers in this format (i.e. outside the context of a well-told story), and most of the non-spoiler info is fairly accessible on the internet.

I was re watching young Justice invasion and wondered why the guardians didn't have Hal or guy go back to earth if john wasn't there? They told him to go to Rimbor and that sector is unmanned for that entire time. Also the green lantern knowledge of the reach could have stopped the invasion.

Greg responds...

By the time they figured out what was going on, Tseng had welcomed the Reach and they COULDN'T go back.

If the Light's ultimate goal is to make humanity more advanced and evolved, then why would a Lord of Choas like Klarion be one of the main members? I understand him wanting to cause chaos for fun like he did in the episode Misplaced, but in the end does he really care what happens to Earth?

Hey, Greg
If Disney ever wanted to reboot Gargoyles instead of picking up where it was left off, would you resist it or try to get on board with it?

Greg responds...

Both, probably. But I'm not big on hypothetical questions. There are too many variables to answer it with any meaning.

Hey Greg! My question is in regards to the letters sent by Xanatos in Vows:
1. What details were included in the first letter? Did he just say "here is a coin" or were stock tips or other future knowledge included?
2. Who did young David think sent the letter? Could someone as intelligent as X really leave that alone for 20 years?
3. Are the letters constructs of the time stream or out of David's head? Did he read (or copy) the originals before traveling back in time?

Greg responds...

1. Just the coin, basically, as I recall. It's been a while since I've rewatched the episode.

2. He never knew. He may have searched on and off for an answer, but didn't find one until the second letter came.

3. He probably had them memorized. So the content may in fact have been born with the time stream.

Oops, I meant to say that there's 5 years' age difference between Artemis and Mary, not 6. Artemis obviously was 15 in Team Year Zero and you confirmed elsewhere on Ask Greg that Mary and Freddy were the same age as Billy, so sorry, my mistake. :)

It's interesting that you went with Sergeant Marvel for Mary instead of Mary Marvel, and likewise with Lieutenant Marvel for Captain Marvel Jr. In Mary's case, was this change made to protect her secret identity? I know that Artemis had no qualms with going by her own name, but with Mary we're talking about a kid who's six years younger than Artemis... So maybe it was thought best to go the extra mile not to announce her name to villains, especially since she wouldn't have been wearing a mask (if the Young Justice Mary takes after Earth-16 Captain Marvel and/or her comic book counterpart in not wearing a mask)?

Greg responds...

It has nothing to do with secret identity and everything to do with internal consistency.

I recently got Spirits of Ash and Foam and ALL of the Gargoyles DVDs. All of it was perfection. Thank you for being awesome.

While combing through the archives, I discovered the names of some of the gargoyles of the Avalon Clan: Archangel, Azrael, Michael, Raphael, and Uriel. What I could not find was a reference as to what name went with which gargoyle. So my question is this: are any of the names assigned to a particular garg from Avalon? Or were these just names chosen without a face?

PS. It hits me now that I'm proofreading that it sounds like I'm trying to get on your good side before I asked my question. Not my intent. But whatever.

Greg responds...

No spoilers.

But I'm glad you liked the stuff, especially Spirits.

1. What/Who were the aliens from "Failsafe"? Their ships bare resemblance to M'gann's bio-ship, though I doubt they were Martians.

CAUTION: This is a question for Greg Vietti.
2. What is Grany Smith's recipe from episode 17 of "Hello Megan!"?

3. Why was Hello Megan! cancelled?

4. Why did Artemis, M'gann and Kaldur cut their hair before Team year 5?

5. Can Kaldur close his gills so he seems human?

Greg responds...

1. J'onn made them up, interpolating things from many sources.

2. You'll have to ask Brandon Weisman.

3. Mediocre ratings.

4. Artemis for practicality. M'gann for a change of pace. Kaldur - I'm thinking he wanted to look badass.

5. You've seen them closed. They're still visible if his neck is bare.

Well it's been nearly a year (I think more) since YJ stopped airing. I recently just re-watched the entire series except for the last two episodes mainly because I really despise the feeling that after those two it'll be over again and all that there is to do is watch from the beginning.

Not really a question, just wanted to let you know that even with two seasons it was amazing (ik you've written that the show just isn't picked up and not cancelled)

Greg responds...

Thanks.

Did Superboy ever know that he was Artemis' "White Rabbit" and do they ever have some sort of friendship because I noticed in the show that they hardly spoken to one another.
In fact can you just define the whole Team's friendship/relationships to each other. Especially Rocket I wanted more airtime for her and see her with the Team.
Besides that I love your show! I wish it would come on again.
P.S. I'm starting to get addicted to Gargoyles.

Greg responds...

Conner and Artemis are definitely friends. I wouldn't say they're the closest on the Team, but that should not be mistaken as distanced.

I doubt, however, that she revealed the whole White Rabbit thing. Unless maybe it came up after she and Wally were firmly locked in as a couple.

But, no, I'm not going to create some kind of relationship chart that lays out how every character feels about every other character. Mostly, I think that can be left to your imagination.

Not a question, so I apologize.

I recently purchased Gargoyles Season 2 Volume 2 from Amazon and all I can say is "thank you" to your former crew and cast for these episodes...for this series.

My family contains many different races; most predominant are Piscataway Native American and African American. To see my family…to see ME represented in animation was more than just enjoyable. It felt like a statement that we mattered…that we were worth watching as fictional characters…that we were more than just a series of catch phrases and racial quotas.

And as for the Gargoyles themselves…well…my parents and grandparents would tell me stories of their lives pre-civil rights movement and it was horrifying to hear that just because they may have been good people, did not mean others would still not vilify and dehumanize them. And, although you exhibited racial injustice in your program, you did not take the easy way out and show that all the characters were unaffected by this. You displayed that some characters harbored deep resentment, others carried life-long suspicion and the rest, had an ever-present optimism.

I watched the series on their original airdates as a tween and honestly thought it would lose some emotional impact as a thirty-something, but it definitely has not. So, again, thank you. Some may dismiss your work as just another silly cartoon, but you are showing kids across the country that just because someone does not look like you, does not mean that he or she does not have the same dreams, aspirations and desires for love like you.

Greg responds...

Wow. Thank YOU! This really made my day. We strove on Gargoyles to do all the things you cite above. I'm glad we succeeded.
