Huge Fan of YJ.
1. Now that Red Arrow has his issues (Speedy) resolved, will he and Cheshire patch thing up?
2. Does Sportsmaster know that Red Arrow is his son-in-law and if so what's his opinion on their relationship?
3. What does Sportsmaster think about his granddaughter Lian? Would his relationship with her be similar or different than how he treats his daughters?

Greg responds...

1. No spoilers.

2. I think you can assume he knows Red Arrow fathered his granddaughter. As for his reaction/opinion, unless or until we address it, I'll leave that to your imagination.

3. See the answer to #2.

This is going to sound like an odd question. What New York congressional district would the Manhattan Clan live in??? I know this is an odd question but I was just wondering. After having done research on it, I still don't have the answer. Thank you

Greg responds...

Well, I guess it depends if you were talking about the Clock Tower or the Eyrie Building.

Or maybe it doesn't. I'd have to do research, and I haven't.

Hi, Mr. Weisman. Fan of YJ. Hope we get a 3th season one day.

1. Has Batman ever hit any of his protégés?
2. Who trained Sportsmaster?
3. Was Jason Todd a natural redhead?

Greg responds...

1. He's trained with them. So if you're counting them sparring together, than I guess so. But he's never hit one in anger or been abusive.

2. RecreationMaster!*

3. I'm not giving out any info on Jason or anyone that isn't obvious from what's already aired or been in the comics.

*I don't know who trained Sportsmaster. But if I knew, I wouldn't tell you. Cuz that would be a spoiler.

Since Goliath and Demona are the same age roughly in 994 what would happen when Goliath became to old to lead the clan and stepped down? Wouldn't Demona also be too old?

Greg responds...

Yes, it would have been a concern eventually. But they were both young at that stage, and the bigger concern at that time was death by violence, not by old age.

Hello, Weisman. Me again. Hope you're doing well and all of your projects are successful.

I was re-watching Gargoyles again and I was watching the "Hunter's Moon" three-parter and I was curious about something about Jason Canmore:

I noticed something in Part Two, when Robyn is talking to Jason and John about Demona being able to walk around in daylight and how the siblings were debating about whether she'd "share this sorcery with the others," and Jason says, "we'd never know" if she had.

My question is, did he suspect (albeit fleetingly) that Elisa might be a gargoyle in disguise (who was able to use magic to shape-shift at will) thanks to Demona or was he just overthinking the discussion, on top of suspecting that she was hiding something in general? That's the vibe I was getting from the exchange, at least.

Thank you for your time and for answering my question (:

Greg responds...

I don't think he ever thought Elisa was a gargoyle.

Hey Mr. Weisman, a few random questions about Spectacular Spider-Man (even though it's been a while)

1) Did Gwen ever meet Harry's parents? (I ask because she has a way different reaction than Peter about them in Final Curtain, leading me to wonder)

2) I noticed when watching that Norman Osborn's treatment of Harry has multiple signs of emotional abuse (and of course, was revealed to have physically hurt his son in the s2 finale). Was this something intentional/clear, or just 'let's make Norman Osborn's relationship with his son like this' without thinking 'we want to make Norman explicitly emotionally abusive'?

I just want to say, thank you for creating a lot of wonderful characters, and doing them justice. Harry Osborn has always been one of my favorite, and I feel like not everyone appreciates the complexity of his characterization/does it well. (Though this is probably true of many characters that pass from writer to writer)

Also, since I know you like to include a level of real science (a level since sci-fi and fantasy inherently require breaks from science), 3) Did you ever read up on epi-genetics? It's really cool!

Greg responds...

1. Yeah, she's met them.

2. Like somehow we didn't NOTICE that he was abusive? No.

3. I haven't. At least not yet.

Simple question what are you currently working on as it is hard to follow sometimes and if you can talk or more specifically write about it what will you be working on that you know? Ohh and where can we watch it , or if read it when is it coming out or where can we find it I know you were writing a comic for Marvel I could never find it in several comic book stores.

Greg responds...

Right now, I am working on two things. The third season of YOUNG JUSTICE and the second novel in the WORLD OF WARCRAFT: TRAVELER series.

We don't yet know where Season Three of YJ will air, but you can view Seasons One and Two on Netflix, on iTunes or on DVD or BluRay.

The second WARCRAFT book should come out in bookstores (including online bookstores) next November.

Prior to that, I was working on the second and third seasons of SHIMMER AND SHINE. Season Two is currently airing on Nick Jr.

I also wrote the first book in the WORLD OF WARCRAFT: TRAVELER series, which is currently available at bookstores (and online bookstores).

There's also my two novels RAIN OF THE GHOSTS and SPIRITS OF ASH AND FOAM, both of which are currently available at bookstores and online bookstores.

Then there's the AudioPlay version of RAIN OF THE GHOSTS, which is currently available for download at Gumroad.com/RainoftheGhosts.

I recently co-plotted a CAPTAIN ATOM miniseries with Cary Bates, illustrated by Will Conrad. It will be available this January, 2017 from anyplace that sells comic books, including the DC Comics App, Comixology and iTunes.

Last year, I wrote the twelve issue STAR WARS KANAN series for Lucasfilm and Marvel. Those are available either as single issues, as two trades (STAR WARS KANAN: THE LAST PADAWAN and STAR WARS KANAN: FIRST BLOOD) or as an omnibus, again at Bookstores, online Bookstores, comic book stores and from the Marvel Comics App, Comixology or iTunes.

Finally, I also wrote the six issue STARBRAND AND NIGHTMASK for Marvel Comics, available as single issues or as one trade (STARBRAND AND NIGHTMASK: ETERNITY'S CHILDREN [Attend University]), which AGAIN is available at bookstores, online bookstores, comic book stores, the Marvel Comics App, Comixology or iTunes.

Whew! I think that's it! Thanks for asking!

I have really enjoyed the Rain of the Ghosts series and I anxiously await for Book 3 to come out. My question for you though is this: As you write the Rain of the Ghosts series, do you already have an idea of how you want the series to ultimately end, or is the story more fluid with ideas coming to you as you write?

Greg responds...

I try to keep myself open to ideas that come to me or to characters who assert themselves, like Renée and Cash did in SPIRITS. But I know pretty much exactly where the story is going.

Hello Greg, and greetings from Finland! :-)

I have noticed recently that I have started to get VERY interested in "Gargoyles". Haven't seen much of the series yet, but from what I have seen and heard, it looks awesome.

There is a problem though. I have no idea if the DVD's have ever been released outside US. If there was an European release, I would probably had already got it. I would import if it was a possibility; however, I strongly suspect that the DVD's are region locked and won't work on European DVD players.

Who could be an appropriate person to ask about this? I know you aren't directly working as a Disney representative, but I thought you could possibly know some contact to ask about this.

Also, do you know if the series is watchable on some video-on-demand service? I would really love to see more about the series.

Thank you already for your time.

Greg responds...

I'd love to be able to help you, but I don't know who to contact specifically, aside from just reaching out to Walt Disney Home Entertainment.

And I don't know of any streaming service, etc., that has the series. Wish I did.

Why didn't SpecSpidey or YJ have "Previously On" segments? Was it a network or production decision?

Greg responds...

I'm vehemently against using them. I learned painfully from Gargoyles that they actually have the opposite effect then one would think.

Instead of acting as small reminders or hints, they convince people that they've missed too much to join the series now. They were never necessary. Everything you truly NEED to know to enjoy a given episode is spelled out in one way or another within the episode itself.

Hi Greg. I asked this question before but you never really answered it. In "Alienated", M'gann tears information from a krolotean prisoner's brain and leaves him in a catatonic state. She does this in front of Martian Manhunter and Batman. I am just wondering why there wasn't some kind of a response from them. Didn't they realize what happened? And, if not, why not? Or, if they did, why didn't they confront M'gann about it? Batman and Martian Manhunter's acting like nothing unusual had happened seems odd to me. What am I missing?

The reason I am bringing this up again is that someone I was talking to pointed this scene as an instance of the "idiot ball" trope. So, I thought I would try to get to the bottom of this. Thanks.

Greg responds...

I don't know what the "idiot ball" trope means, so I have no idea if it's an instance of it or not. Nor do I recall what I did or did not answer before. It would seem to me that I'm hardly likely to give more information now than I was then.

But the short answer is that they did not fully understand what she had done to the Krolotean, keeping in mind that the Krolotean's mind was SO alien, that J'onn was having trouble reading it at all.

In "Welcome to Happy Harbor", Superboy asks why the JL left the Cave for the Hall, even though he "witnessed" the incident that Aqualad mentions as the reason for the change in issues 1 and 2. Didn't he simply "make the connection", like when he didn't recognize Snapper Carr, or is this one of those "what-happens-in-the-comics-is-"cannon"-but-none-of-it-is-ever-mentioned-or-acknowledged-in-the-show-because-the-comics-were-retroactively-written-AFTER-the-episodes" cases?

Hypothetical question.

ALL of your past and present projects have been renewed, and you have been asked to help them all. Which one would you prioritize, and why?

Greg responds...

Well, as many regular readers of this site know, I'm not big on hypotheticals. Reality is so much more complicated, but I'll give it a shot:

GARGOYLES first, always. We're trying to get another comic book version now. Tweet the hashtag #WeLiveAgain!

YOUNG JUSTICE, second. Season Three is real. It's here. I'm working on it.

I'm also working on the second book in the WORLD OF WARCRAFT: TRAVELER series, THE SPIRAL PATH, and recently completed co-plotting work on THE FALL AND RISE OF CAPTAIN ATOM, w/my old Captain Atom partner Cary Bates.

The third book in the RAIN OF THE GHOSTS series, MASQUE OF BONES, which I still plan to get back to as soon as I possibly can.

Everything else falls into the category of it's just too hypothetical to differentiate. But I'm very fond of THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN, W.I.T.C.H., ROUGHNECKS: THE STARSHIP TROOPER CHRONICLES, STARBRAND & NIGHTMASK, anything with the STAR WARS REBELS characters [especially STAR WARS KANAN], 3X3 EYES, DISNEY'S VILLAINS and many others.

And I'm sure Edmund Tsabard would love to finish Last Tengu in Paris.

Out of universe explanation for

Why was Hal used as one of the original seven members of the Justice League instead of John?

Greg responds...

Because, not counting Alan Scott, he was the first Green Lantern.

1. Is Earth 16 based on pre crisis, post crisis, or a mixture of both?

2. If a mixture of both, is the mixture more than, less than, or equal to a fifty fifty split?

According to DC wiki the first Green Lantern was Jong Li, a monk from 660 AD. He debuted in Green Lantern: Dragon Lord #1-3 in 2001, which is not listed among the Elseworld titles.

http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Jong_Li_(New_Earth)

http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Elseworlds

3. Out of universe who is considered the first Green Lantern and why?

Greg responds...

1. It's a mixture of 78 years of continuity, plus some original material.

2. I'm not interested in percentages.

3. What are we talking about here when you say "Out of Universe"? Out of Universe, Alan Scott was the first Green Lantern because Alan Scott was the first Green Lantern created at DC Comics.

Hello Greg, I just want to start with, I love your work. Moving on, I really love Young Justice. I've read all the possibilities that have been said about new episodes. And I'm working for it. I've watched seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix probably 6-7 times now since I found it and will likely watch it many more. I'm rather poor so Netflix is what I can afford entertainment wise, so no DVD buying unfortunately. But it's the hashtag I don't understand. #KeepBingingYJ. What does that mean and how does it help? Is it about searching for it on Bing? I don't get the binging. I think the hashtag should say #BringBackYoungJustice or something like that. I want to help influence the decision makers, so I'm trying to help. Gonna try and start a movement on WB and DC's FB pages. I don't really Twitter. Anyway, I wish you the best in all your endeavors, and I look forward to any and all of your work. Thank you.

Binge it. (The g has a j sound.) Not bing it. Binge it. I was asking fans to binge-watch the series over and over again on Netflix. (And it worked!)

For the record, your hashtag would have been far less useful, because it was not a call to action. It's vague. Who is it addressed to? Mine was an instruction to the fans. As were my other hashtags, i.e. #BuyYJBluRaysDVDs and #BuyYJComicsonComixology. Each of these give fans a pragmatic and specific thing to do. I'm sorry you didn't understand the #KeepBingingYJ hashtag, but you did it anyway, and we got the show back. So it's all good.

Hey, Greg!

So I remember back in the day, you mentioned plans to eventually incorporate Dracula into the GU. Since Stoker's novel is like my favorite book ever I thought I'd pick your brains a little, nothing spoilerly hopefully.

1) Presuming you've read the novel, what did ya think of it?

2) Is there anything specific about the character of the not so good Count that you think makes him a particularly good fit for the GU?

3) Fav cinematic Dracula?

Greg responds...

1. I have read it. It's not my favorite novel, but I like it a lot. (Just to be clear, I'm not saying the GargUniverse Dracula would be based on Stoker's version. Not saying it wouldn't be either. Just not saying. #NoSpoilers).

2. He's an irresistible fictional concept. How could we skip him?

3. I honestly don't have one. I've yet to see one that really felt like how I imagine Dracula.

How much, if anything, would you be willing to share about the plot and characters of your proposed series "The Trickster"?

Greg responds...

Zero.

Hi big fan of the series gargoyles thank you so much for your part in creating the show. My question is during the creation of the gargoyles were did the ideas of there look come form for instance London clans animal features wyvern clans beaks horns human faces and so on also Hm which were your favorite clan artwork my personal favorite wyven/avalon clan

Greg responds...

I don't really play favorites. They're all my children.

The idea that the London clan would be modeled (loosely) after heraldic animals was mine. Not the execution, of course. Credit for that goes mostly to our lead character designer Greg Guler.

The idea for Zafiro being serpentine was also mine. We just looked to Aztec, Olmec & Mayan art for inspiration.
