I think what got Broadway interested in reading (Other than not being able to read the Exit sign) was a mix of MacBeth and Hudson.

First, it was MacBeth's description of King Auther's time, as well as how valuable the Scrolls of Merlin were. Then, Hudson outright saying he wanted to read drove Broadway further, because Hudson is looked up to, for good reason.

The thing that I particularly liked about "A Lighthouse in the Sea of Time" (actually, there were a lot of things that I liked about it) was the way that it contrasted Broadway's original attitude towards being illiterate and Hudson's. Broadway can't read, doesn't make it a secret, and doesn't think that he's missing out on anything. Hudson can't read, but keeps it a secret and feels ashamed about it, though until he meets Jeffrey Robbins, he hasn't even made an effort to change it precisely because of his shame.

I always rather liked Hudson, and in particular how the production team showed him as the gargoyle least likely to accept the modern world, while still keeping him a sympathetic character.

You got a point there, but I was thinking more in terms of the gun episode. The Pack, though, he's like Brooklyn is with Demona when anyone mentions them!

Jerr Bear - <Lexington seems more calm than Broadway or Brooklyn.> *checks his memory banks.* If anything, I'd say it's more likely to be Broadway. Everytime Lex runs across the Pack, Lexington immediately swings into action without bothering to think ahead. Brooklyn acknowledges he has a problem with Demona, which is a step above Lexington. I don't recall Broadway losing his cool when dealing with Dracon so at this point, I'd give Broadway the credit for being most calm.

Elisa gets shot>>I liked that episode, though any of the trio could have accidentally shot Elisa, Broadway was the choice to pick. He's less likely to kill (Brooklyn seems more likely to kill, since he hates Demona), but also less likely to stay calm (Lexington seems more calm than Broadway or Brooklyn). I thought the episode was also supposed to show that the Gargoyles were still pretty naive about the world.

One of my other favorite Broadway-Starred episode is when we find out he can't read, because he shows sort of an innocence/ignorance about the subject of reading. Ignorance is basically just a lack of knowledge, but I see innocence in Broadway's ignorance during that episode because he came from a time where it wasn't important to know how to read. Lexington only learned because that's the type of guy he is, wanting to learn, although I don't know why Brooklyn learned. Goliath probably had to learn because he was leader. Plus, in that episode Broadway had some character development by wanting to learn to read, which shows he'd rather not be ignorant.

Hi, nice to see there's lot of people loving this series..!
The universe contains the main features of all-time sf, i.e.: time travels, cyber, mutants, the villain who wants the world, a little of space opera, laser fightings... not to say about delightful touches of fantasy (an elegant one) bringing tons of swordfightings which I REALLY LOVE!

Episodes are wonderfully displayed amongst the various genres/themes as well as the various genre/themes are wonderfully displayed into each single episode. I mean, there is an episode set-up very similar to X-files' (as well as other good series!) one: there is a main plot which develops during the serie, and corollaria around which the secondary plots develop.
Dunno if I could explain my idea in good words, still I just really long for watching at Gragoyles again (I could watch it just one time in my life!!!) and hopefully DVDs will be released in Italy too.
Well, happy new year to everybody!

Shogun>Gargoyles on Adult Swim hua cool! I would like
to see that episode with Broadway messing up and shot
Eliasa with her gun by accident. I wanted the see that
episode for a long time and can berley remember it.
That is mostly why! Also they could edit the show to
make it more adult. It would be nice to see a adult gargoyles show for us adults, right?

Shogun>>Hey! You noticed that too! I remember I was sitting there, minding my own business, when I saw those gargs and screamed to the rest of my family,"Oh my God! Goliath! Brooklyn! Holy crap! Did you see that?" and pointed repeatedly at the screen. I made a mental note to rewind it later to see them again, but I have a dieing attention span and promptly forgot.-_-;; I will be sure to go back again.

It's been ages since I last posted but I figured this warrants a heads-up: it seems the crew who worked on the second season of the anime "Big O" were gargoyles fans, or at least the show made an impression, in episode 14, "Roger the wanderer" in one two-second cameo they flash to a pair of stone Gargoyles positioned just like Brooklyn and Goliath, the larger one is in the "Awakening" pose and the other one isn't posed in any particular way but it does have a pronounced beak, if you want the image I can e-mail them to you

Battle Beast/Leo - If you'll note, the site lists show titles, then yes/no for DVD, and the ones with no list the info for the VHS. Heroes Awaken WAS out on VHS, the mention of the DVD may be for Gargoyles, but it doesn't mean it's for that particular release, the Heroes Awaken. I'd chalk it up to the sight not really having any of the details beyond there being a Gargoyles release coming up and puttign the DVD coming soon into that slot because it's the ONLY Gargoyle's slot on the list.

Whatever "special" room they get their info on, I doubt this site can cop info on the Gargoyles dvd release any more exact than what Greg has on this particular project.

Battle Beast. Re "The site is VERY legit.....So if they say that it's gonna come out next year, most likely it will."

I was just fussing because it only shows "The Heros Awaken" (The edited and spliced version of the 5-part "Awakenings") I think it WOULD be an atrocity if it turns out that's all they're ever going to release. (I mean, who knows what repercussions the recent Disney managment changes will have.) I'll feel better when I see a listing for "Gargoyles: The Complete First Season" as well. ;-)

By the way, I noticed you made a post in their forum:

Happy Christmas One and all!!!

LEO> The site is VERY legit. I mena, they pretty much know EXACTLY when a Disney DVD will come out. Since I collect Disney Animated Features, I follow them closely. So if they say that it's gonna come out next year, most likely it will.

The owner and creator of the site gets his info from deep inside the walls of Room A113.

Besides, if you read the WHOLE listing, it says "DVD COMING IN 2004."

I know the site is not affiliated with TWDC, but the info is first hand info. It's not rumors or anything. 99.8% of the time they are legit release dates, and they even know when things are gonna be moved up or back.

This is as Close to "verrified" as we are gonna get.

TODD> Thanks for clearing that up. I knew you watched "Ulster" but I thought it was "Vows" that you watched... now I know for sure. Thanks again for the inspiration.

ANYONE FROM THE UK> I am part British, and follow many British traditions... But I've always said "merry" Christams. I've noticed that many of you (Like my Grandmother) say "Happy" Christmas. Do you normally say "Happy" christmas, or a little of both?

(I've taken to saying "happy" rather than "merry" myself.

Happy Christmas everyone!!!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

BATTLE BEAST - Actually, it's "Sanctuary" that I watch on Valentine's Day. I don't have a special holiday for "Vows" at all. (And I also watch "Eye of the Beholder" on Halloween - amusingly enough, somebody once commented that "Eye of the Beholder" would also make a good Valentine's Day episode, because of the romance elements in it - Xanatos realizing his true feelings for Fox, and Goliath and Elisa's "date" with Elisa wearing Belle's ballgown. I'd never considered that before, but it does make good sense - I still prefer to make it a Halloween episode, however, since that's when it's explicitly set.)

Hi, and Merry Christmas to all!

I've been lurking this comment room for about a month and a few days. I usually don't post anything on public places, so this is one of the few times I may post anything at all.

If I may say something about myself, I've _never_ actually seen a Gargoyles episode on TV (we have it on cable TV in the Philippines, only that our house doesn't have a subscription). All I know and like about the show comes from the fandom and Ask Greg. Thanks for making it so popular on the 'net!

I'm a de facto system and network administrator at where I work, so I guess I'm sort of qualified to answer BrookX's question. I just couldn't resist answering it :)

Brook X> It could be a lot of things. First off, check your network configuration to your Internet Service Provider. You may have to read that information off their web site. Another could be that you need to configure the proxy settings of your browser. You'll have to check (again) with your ISP. Hope that helps, and if not, e-mail me back.

Merry Christmas ONE AND ALL!!! I know it's not midnight in Edmonton, but it is in Toronto!

MOONCAT> No, the listing IS for the DVD release. The Website deals SPECIFICALLY in when movies will come out on DVD.

I just finished watching "It's a Wonderful Life." GREAT GREAT MOVIE (Check out my review on my web site; clicky my link). I decided to start a tradition of watching cerain movies on certain days TODD watches "Ulster" on St. Patrick's day, and Vows (?) on Valetines (?) (Is that right Todd?), and he gave me the idea to start a traditon of my own.

Every Christmas Eve i am going to watch "Ti's a Wonderful Life" and starting last Easter Sunday eve (the Saturday night of the long weekend), I am going to watch "The Ten Commandments."

Nickerous, I think it is quite brave to talk of your painful loss with us, to leave yourself open in such a public place. God be with you.

Other comments:
I saw Hunter's Moon earlier this week(late last week?) However, there was I line I recalled that I did not catch. In Hunter's Moon III, didn't Demona once exclaim: "Why do you hate me? I am only doing what is best for you!" (or something to that effect)?

On yet another topic, I have looked up "more's the pity" in the Oxford Dictionary of the English Language (the multivolumed one!) before leaving school. I was waiting for a time when Greg Weisman may pass by before posting, but if any of you want me to, I'll post my findings now.

Hello all!
I'm a huge Gargoyles fan and have been following Ask Greg fairly closely for a couple of years now, though I've never posted here or in any other forum/comment room. I got bored this late at night and decided to wander in here and see what it was like.
Firstly, to Nickerous: I read the backlog from last week and would just like to extend my condolences to you and your family. This is an especially hard time to be dealing with a loss, with the holidays so close. I hope you can find strength in your friends and family and know that there is no "goodbye", only "until next time."
...
Yeah, okay, I didn't really mean to get that sentimental on my very first post here. Uh, anyway. This comment room seems pretty cool, so I'll probably stop by to join in discussions when I can -- Gargoyle fans are so hard to find these days. For now, however, I'm going to sleep, as it's late and I have a lot of stuff to do tomorrow.
I've always wanted to see Cowboy Bebop, but no one around here has it...

Something else I forgot to mention about Greg's "Kim Possible" episode. It featured a guest appearance and song by an animated version of the band Smashmouth. (They performed at a school dance.)

They weren't an integral part of the story at all. They were mentioned a couple of times and then showed up at the end to sing. They may have been put in as an afterthought, to help sell the Kim Possible soundtrack CD.

I'm tempted to Ask Greg about it, but by the time he got around to answering, I'll have probably lost interest.

Saw "Return of the King" for the third time. LOVED it as much as the first two times I saw it.

That is all I will say.

Thank you all for your kind words. This has the been the toughest two weeks of my life, but I am hanging in there. My Mom and I witnessed the accident and we are leaning on each other for support. In time, I believe that we will learn to live with it.

I'm still working on my dvds. That has been one escape for me. As I type this, M.I.A. is finishing up. I should be able to design the dvd tonight or tomorrow. Once again, thank you all.

I'm not sure what to make of this, but the Ultimate Disney DVD website posted a pretty extensive list of upcoming DVD's from Disney. The bad news is Gargoyles isn't on it. Try the link to see their list. Maybe (hopefully) it's not a complete list, but it sure looks in-depth.

In other news, last Friday the Disney Channel broadcast a Kim Possible episode written by Greg Weisman. I had no idea it was his until the end credits came up. If I had known, I would have paid closer attention. At first, I couldn't think of any Gargoyles connection in the episode, but there was a trio of robots with a "hive mind" (they built a beehive shaped lair and kidnapped a queen) and I suppose that could somehow relate to the Matrix from "Walkabout." It seems a bit of a stretch, though. I'll have to see the episode again. If anyone's interested, it will be rebroadcast in the US on the Disney Channel on Saturday, Dec 27 at 5pm and 11pm (Eastern time).

If I don't have the chance to post again this week, have a Merry Christmas!

Battle Beast>Yea, I hope gargs dose sell good on DVD
too. Ops. And you also forgot to look at last weeks posts
I have been trying to tell you, but I don't know what to
think of you... All I want to know is are you not looking
at anyones posts and putting yours up asap or what?
I want to know are you ignoring me because it's pretty
amazing you could miss 3 posts that somebody puts
up to question you? You put up about 2 or 3 posts and
not said a thing to me so whats your deal, I don't want
people to ignore or pick a fight with me. I just want
to get along? So whats up? I need an answer if thats
OK with you? Or am I so annoying, you with my cheap
questions and only want to talk about movies, I think
thats right! But I'm not mad in this post just
wondering?

Thats my words of wonder... Don't ignore them!

Opps. Forgot something.

You all have heard of the show "Family Guy" right?

Well, it is now on DVD. AND, the first boxed set (season 1 & 2) have sold over 1,000,000 copies, and the second boxed set has sold 520,000.

Currently, it has been confirmed by Seth McFarlane (Creator) and several others, and all BUT confirmed by FOX that the show will be brought back from cancellation with 35 EIPSODES in dec 2004 or jan 2005.

PLUS there is a DIRECT TO DVD movie due out next year.

THE POWER OF DVD WORKS!!! IF GARGS sell well enough... who knows? this will definatly open DISNEYS eyes because when one company revives a cancelled series, it is MAJOR news.

Check out www.familyguyfiles.com for more info.

That is all I will say.
