Your YJA has gotten me really into DC comics, something no one else has been able to do - so thank you! The writing is fantastic, and one thing I love is that M'gann can have a crush...but she also has personality traits BESIDES that. I really appreciate being able to see well-written female characters of ALL personalities, not just stereotypically tough or stereotypically dainty. Please keep it up!

(PS: I also really really love Kaldur and I hope he gets more comics for the main continuity as well!)

There is balance in all things. Live in symmetry with the world around you. If you must blow things up and steal from those around you, THAT'S WHAT RPGS ARE FOR!

I've been meaning to encourage fans from tumblr to post here for a while. I heard that people weren't polite at the con (I'm not sure if that's true or not!) but it was the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak. So, I posted a link on tumblr and it got passed around. <:) Even the fans that *ahem* disagree with each other or parts of the show obviously really love it.

... well, I've always heard that angry fans are better than apathetic ones. YMMV on this one, though. :| Anyway, there's plenty of positivity to go around as well. :D

Sorry to crash your party, too! Haha. Hope you don't mind.

Matt: My guess is that we've been linked to by some "Young Justice" forum or another. Regardless, however, I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome you all here, on behalf of the rest of the Station 8 Comment Room, and encourage you to stick around and discuss Greg Weisman's shows of the past and present whenever the urge should hit you. Cheers all! :D

For now, though, I'm just grinning in satisfaction at the visual proof that the whining arsehats are a very, very vocal minority. If anyone has a way to contact the big guy, I think he would be quite pleased - and gratified - to read the last stream of comments.

Hi! Just wanted to profess my love for 'Young Justice'! My friend and I adore the show. We spend literally hours talking about it :) The show has also introduced me to some other wonderful people, so I am very grateful. I can't wait for the rest of the series to play out so I can see if any of my theories are correct haha :D

Hey, just wanted to say how much I'm loving Young Justice so far! I've re-watched all the episodes that are out so far a bunch of times, and I just keep on loving it more and more each time. All the characters are so much fun, and I'm so excited to see what's going to happen in the upcoming episodes! I just know it's gonna be great.
Anonymous

I just wanted to say, I LOVE this show. I can't wait for CN to pull out some new episodes, but until then, I'll sit down every week to watch the reruns. Thank you for Young Justice!
THANK YOU!

This show is AMAZING! I honestly have no complaints that I can think only that I wish it was September so that we could see some new episodes! I think you guys are doing a brilliant job so don't change anything just because pretentious idiots think they have the right to criticize your work. I love this show and everything about it!
StephBrown

My son and I love Young Justice, and make a point to watch it together whenever it's on.
LadyT

Loving all the characters - Artemis, Miss Martian, Superboy, Wally, Robin, Aqualad, Roy, EVERYONE. Young Justice is a really fun show! Bereft is probably my favorite episode right now.

I just wanted to say how much I love Young Justice. Seeing a well-written and entertaining superhero cartoon that I get excited about week after week is something I look forward to. It is (in my opinion) the best show currently airing on Cartoon Network.
Anonymous

I just wanted to say thanks for all of the great work you've done and been doing on 'Young Justice'. I remember frantically trying to get my VPN to work so I could stream episodes last semester while I was living in China. I look forward to seeing how things go come the next few months.

On a side note, I really, really, REALLY love the show because come the reboot, this (with the related comics) will be one of the last places I can find Wally West. Thanks for everything!

Relena

Just wanted to say how much I love the show. My friends and I sit down every week to watch it together. :)
Paige

Thank you so much for your amazing work on YJ. It's been one of the first shows that I've actively been excited to watch in a long time. Ignore the flames and people who can't stop criticizing. You KNOW your characters, you KNOW how they work, and you KNOW how you want the show to go down. Keep doing what you're good at. ;) Thanks for all the hard work you've put into it! We fans love it, even if we're bad at showing it!
ClaireStar

I just wanted to say thank you for all the hard work, and for giving us a different point of view of our favorite heroes.
Personally i'm a huge Robin fan, and how he's portraited in the series I think is brilliant!! we get to see some of the real nature of Robin/Dick, who despise of being quite an obedient sidekick, is still a kid.

So thank you!!!!!!

With love, a Huge fan of the show!

Alexa

I love YJ<3
Harlequinn
Harlequinn<3

I love the fact that you made Robin into what no other show did. A teenager who joined batman because he thought it looked fun. Almost every other show with Robin in it makes him this completely serious character, and -obviously- the team leader. Young Justice having him be more snarky and taking a techie role is a great breath of fresh air. Really looking forward to the new episodes when they come out, and thanks for all your hard work on the show.
DocBurns

@Antiyonder - YEAH! And I noticed from some reports that over the past couple of months the YJ animated comic readership has grown a little EVEN THOUGH THE SHOW IS IN RERUNS.

Clearly, all of you on the show are doing /SOMETHING/ AWESOME.

Numbers don't lie, and I hope that once the show goes back on the air, you can clearly see how small the whiny portion of the fandom is.

I've just got to say that I love Young Justice and I think you guys are doing a great job. I know that some fans can be really obnoxious and impatient, most of us understand that you don't control when the episodes air. Thanks for making such awesome shows!

Young Justice is a great show and i love to watch it. All the characters are really interesting and I think Aqualad is my favorite (I would most like to meet him in real life). Everyone's a BAMF though and it's great and I'm sorry the fandom is not so nice sometimes!
i love YJ - [kara349@hotmail.com]

Angel, Anonymous, Ruby, king and chasertiff> If all of you want something to tie you over, until more YJ episodes, I recommend picking up the tie in comic. Greg Weisman and Kevin Hopps have done well in instructing the creative team to stay close to the show, and both of them will take over writing the comic next month.

And due to their involvement, the comic is indeed canon (as opposed to merely being a cash in that has little to do with the show) and shows us what happens offscreen.

Antiyonder

Thank you for doing a fantastic job on YJ and introducing me the the wonders of the DCU!

Hi! I love the way YJ attracts viewers of all ages - and I know sooooo many girls who love it too! I hope that SDCC went well? We love the show and can't wait to see more! IT'S OK THAT CARTOON NETWORK IS BEING NOT GREAT WE KNOW IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT.

Thanks so much for working on YJ. I love shows about teenage superheroes. Teenage years are hard, and I love that YJ present those hard things about being a teenager while providing awesome entertainment and stories of good fighting evil. YJ has some of the best animation I've seen in a long time, and I'm so excited for the show to continue.

Thank you for Young Justice. It means a lot to me to see a series with a dark skinned character in such a prominent and positive role, and on top of that the series is quality work and great entertainment. Keep it up!

Thank you and the rest of the writers/creator so much for creating Young Justice and sharing it with everyone. I love each of the characters and I'm so excited to see it airing again.

Hello Greg! I just want to thank you and all of the hardworking people that work on the Young Justice show. I was never one for TV after I got out of grade school, but this show definitely has had me hooked! A friend of mine showed me the first episode and I am now completely addicted to this show. This show even got me interested and buying DC comics! I enjoy each and every episode but the "unaired" Targets is my favorite by far... Downtime comes close in second though! My favorite character has to be Robin (after all, he was my favorite in Teen Titans..haha) and even though he is very different from TT Robin, I have to say I think I enjoy him a lot more. Robin's costume design is fantastic and I love the fact that we get to see him with his mask off. When I used to watch Teen Titans, it used to kill me inside that I could never see behind his mask! So thank you for that, haha. Now before this gets too long, I just want to thank you and I just wanted to say I enjoy this show very much, and even though we have to wait a while for the new episodes to air on Cartoon Network, I will gladly wait. :) All of your hard work is always appreciated, no matter what the small minority of rude "fans". Cheers and a big thanks!

i have learned more about the DC universe in the last three months since I started watching YJ than any other fandom ever.

you're show is so great, and i'm sure it will still be so great when it can come back.

I just wanted to stop by and say thanks for Young Justice! I really do love the series and it's so incredible. Very imaginative, and it's finally got me into the whole DC comic verse on the whole.

Hi! Wish I could have seen you at SDCC! I really dig your previous work, and Im enjoying Young Justice as well! Cant wait to see what you guys have planned, as the series progresses ! Thanks a lot man!

To all the creators of Young Justice,
I absolutly love Young Justice. It is one of my favorite shows right now. I just recently got into the world of comic books recently, and after seeing some amazing fan art for the show I decieded to watch an episode one night. I loved it immediatly. That night I watched all the episodes until about 3 am. Your show is what helped me get really interested in the DC universe and I can hardly wait for new episodes in September.
My favorite episode is defenitly "Downtime". I loved seeing what all the characters were doing when they weren't fighting crime.
I hope that you know that you have so many fans who absolutly love what you are doing and are so thankful that we have this awesome show. I'll be patiently waiting for the rest of the season to premire. Keep up the fantastic work that you are doing!

Lauren - [lauren_milliken@yahoo.com]

Young Justice is like the best show ever. I know that a bunch of the fans are super, super lame, and I'm sorry. I've made faboo friends with the NICE fans, and the quality of the show attracts people of all ages and genders.

THANK YOU.

dubs

For the record, you and Brandon Vietti are doing a fantastic job on Young Justice, regardless of whiny fans or not. There's a fine point between constructive criticism and plain rude whining. Those who criticize the characterization of each character is shocking, because in all honesty there's a sense of realism in them that isn't, "the chosen last son of blahblahblah", and there ARE character flaws. You portray them beautifully, and please, despite all the grief you're getting, ignore it.

(Also, what's your favorite kind of cookie? Chocolate chip or snickerdoodles? :))

Helen - [Chudari@hotmail.com]

I am a huge fan, Greg! I loved Gargoyles as a kid and now Young Justice is my current favorite show!

Young Justice is everything that DC fans have been looking for in an animated adaption; it is wonderfully animated, has hilarious dialog and catchphrases, and brings a more modern twist to older characters while also shedding light on characters that were far less known.

I especially love Robin and Kid Flash in this show, you managed to keep the friendship and history between the two relevant. It is so funny to see those two interact with each other and their new team.

Thank you so much for all of your hard work and I can't wait to see more of Young Justice!

Chloe - [csholar11@hotmail.com]

Greg, Brandon, whole cast and crew of Young Justice, I just wanted to let you guys know that I really love Young Justice and all of the work that you have put into it. Young Justice all ways brightens my day.

My favorite character by far would have to be Aqualad. I love that he is an older brother to everyone, and that he is so respectful and calm. He is everything that I try to aspire to be. He is just too awesome.

Favorite Episode: It's a tie. I loved both the pilot episodes and then Downtime is right up there with them. But those first two episodes blew me away and got me addicted to YJ immediately.

Anyway, thanks so much for creating this show, and I can't wait to see the new episodes and all that you have in store for us.

Tanece - [btanece@yahoo.com]

I just wanted to say you're doing a GREAT job on Young Justice! I really love Wally, and I'm so looking forward to new episodes in September. (Yes, I can wait!)

It's such a beautiful show, and I /am/ totally addicted!

iw

I've been such a fan of your work ever since Gargoyles. That was one of my favorite cartoon series when I was a kid, and I still love watching it.

And once I heard you were attached to Young Justice, I knew it'd be amazing and I wasn't disappointed! I adore all the characters so much. My favorites keep changing between Wally and Robin. Wally's one of my favorite comic book characters of all time so it's great to see him on my tv screen again. And I think this is possibly my favorite portrayal of Dick outside of comic books. I can't wait to see everyone grow together as a team.

Just wanted to thank you (and the rest of the crew!) for working on such a fantastic show. :)

Paloma

I just wanted to say that you have a lot of amazing fans, all of whom love you and your crew very much for starting an amazing animated tv show. I really appreciate it, I love the show and heavily look forward to the upcoming episodes! <3
Aly - [kaylin77@live.com]

I've heard about the awful treatment you received at your YJ panel and would just like to say I LOVE Young Justice. It's thanks to YJ that I'm into superhero comics as much as I am today. I mean, I read my Batman & Robin and random scattered stuff, but it was thanks to your wonderful show I decided to expand my horizons <3 Thank you so much for gracing us with such a quality cartoon. I anxiously await new episodes but understand this hiatus and delays in return dates is not your fault. Thank you again <3
Jem

Hey Greg,
Just wanted to throw out there that you're really doing great with Young justice! I know theres only been a handful of episodes, but so far so good-it can only get better! I finally got around to seeing Superman/Batman Apocalypse and wanted to congratulate you on a fantastic job with it. Extremely enjoyable, kept my eyes glued to the screen.
Hope everything is well with you and hope to see more great stuff from you in the future.

Best wishes

Why I LOVE Young Justice. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR A GREAT SHOW.

(I forgot to title my previous post)

Maggie - [maggieamarmalade@gmail.com]

Favorite Episode: Infiltrator

Favorite Character and Why:
Wally - I love that we get to see a vulnerable side to him that counteracts his brashness. The scenes at school, the fact that he's constantly tripping, the fact that he basically stands alone against the group in his one-side view on science, these all make him endearing in a why that we haven't gotten to see yet in the other characters. (I look foward to seeing more about everyone!). He's not perfect (in a lot of ways), but that just makes him even more appealing.

Favorite Line/Moment:
"September? What happened to March?"
I also find it kind of ironic that episodes we expected to air in March will now be airing in September! (While we're all disappointed that we can't see them sooner, some of us are patient!)

What I'm looking forward to:
I'm actually really interested in learning more about Rolly, haha! I'd love to see more of everyone interact together. And Robin and Artemis at school together could be /fabulous/ if you're touching on that.

Why it caught my eye:
I was a huge fan of Justice League Unlimited (where I fell in love with the Wall-man), and YJ looked absolutely /stunning/. The quality of animation and art is astounding and some of the best I've ever seen.

What I like about the show in general:
I really enjoy a chance to see a modernized version of the Teen Titans (Wally, Dick, Roy), because the original comics were written in an era that's harder for me to relate to than the YJ comics from the 90s. It's just really cool.

I can't help it, I'm addicted! This show has touched me in some way that I can't quite put my finger on. I know that you're not a huge fan of fanfiction (or fanart?), but please know that it has inspired me artistically unlike anything else I've seen recently.

Maggie - [maggieamarmalade@gmail.com]

how come it takes so long for the young justice ep to come out
lorenzo martinez - [nene_ct@yahoo.com]

Beavis & Butthead was pretty dumb. I occasionally laughed, but I'm not sure why it is being brought back. Now, it's spin-off, Daria, was a great show that I'd love to see more of. Oh well.
Matt - [Saint Louis, Missouri, USA]
"Queen? We have no queen..." - Goliath, "Enter Macbeth"

Brianna: Greg Weisman would've loved to do another season of "W.I.T.C.H.," and had enough ideas to keep the show running for years if Disney had let him (see this post for a few examples: http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?qid=11042). Unfortunately, that sort of thing simply isn't up to him; his bosses didn't order another season, so the series ended at "Z is for Zenith." Yes, it is indeed quite a shame, but I'm afraid that's just how the business works.

If you want to see more material of similar exemplary quality, however, then I highly recommend checking out Greg W.'s newest project, the Cartoon Network animated series "Young Justice." It has many of the same strengths that made Season 2 of "W.I.T.C.H." so enjoyable, and is just plain awesome besides.

CHIP - Pity that BOOM!'s Disney comics are ending (though I've read that they're going out with a bang - a crossover between "Darkwing Duck" and "Duck Tales"). I wonder if Disney will make any deals with other comic book companies; I suppose we'll find out soon enough.
Todd Jensen - [merlyn1@mindspring.com]

Neill: I'd say my feelings toward "Beavis and Butthead" are distinctly neutral; the brief craze completely flew me by (having been born in June 1991 and all), and truthfully all I actually know of the show are the elements that most commonly show up in parodies. But as for the news...umm, good for the fans, I guess?

Weeeeeeell...anyway, time for a good slew more "Greg Weisman" responses from Formspring...

Hudson: I prefer Celebrity Hockey.

Gunther Sturluson: I don't know any wise man, but a man named Edmund Tsabard passed through here a few years ago. He tried to lock Papa and me in the cave too.

Nasargiel (another Avalon Clan member, now in Manhattan): Who is that?

Athena: I am the patron goddess of Wise Men.

Niddhogr (a Child of Mab): His corpse shall slake my hunger.

*RIPS into the Questioner and quickly tears him apart. Begins gnawing at the ribs as Mab speaks*

May Parker: Oh, he's that nice man that I met at the play the other evening...

"Some folks are born made to wave the flag..." - John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival

Neill--No, I hate them too. As for 80s franchises I don't know if Disney HAD anything from the 80's to toss onto the Bandwagon besides Tron. I mean...can you see a live action Gummi Bears movie? (This notwithstanding: http://www.collegehumor.com/video/2907728/elephant-larry-gummi-bears---the-movie)

The 90s are another matter altogether. I felt like BOOM!'s Darkwing Duck, Ducktales and Chip N' Dale's Rescue Rangers comics were/are the initial stages of the 90s resurgence. And Disney has a lot to offer from that decade.

Chip - [<------The League of Extraordinary Nerds Here!]

Am I the only one who hates Beavis and Butthead? We're talking about Disney and I can't remember any 80s franchise that came back in the last decade, except Tron.
Neill - [neillgargoyle(at)gmail.com]

If anyone remembers the 80's resurgence last decade, it's become clear we'll be doing the 90's again. Need proof? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAAirNeKWxQ
If they can come back, well, who knows?

I was respectuful in my letter and pretty humble, and I adressed the DVD issue and the fandom. I basically said, "Please do not make a cheap rip-off of our beloved property we've kept alive for years. You have a wonderful opportunity to show people the wonders of Shakespeare, magic and mythology like I was introduced to all those years ago." (but in much nicer words.)

Sitting here quibbling over should we/should we not send letters WON'T get the movie WE WANT made. What we HAVE to do is SEND the letters. JUST DO IT. It can't hurt. And Like I posted before, it took me 10 minutes.

Todd Jensen - [merlyn1@mindspring.com]

Finished up watching Young Justice a while back. Thought I'd share some of my thoughts with you guys.

Overall, I really enjoy the show. The characters seem like real teenagers to an extent, wanting to grow up, having hormones, trying to figure life out, which is very cool.

The voice acting is pretty stellar, with Bruce Greenwood as Batman and Kelly Hu as Cheshire probably being my favourites. Also John De Lancie. Just because... John de Lancie. Oh and Rene Auberjonois too. Also Nolan North, who I've found has just generally played sort of one-dimensional wise-cracking protagonists brings a surprising amount of pathos and reality to the role of Superboy which I really like.

The stories are good, the mystery is enthralling. Though I find it kind of hilarious that Young Justice's rogue gallery seems to consist of Bane, Ra's Al Ghul, and Lex Luthor... and possibly even some people Apokalips. I'm at kind of a loss as to who the heck the League is fighting all the time. Second-stringers? Braniac?

I also like the concept of the league and the role it plays in the show. It brings a sort of reality and a bit more dimension to these characters to show what their relationship is with their mentor equivalents. It also helps to separate it further from Teen Titans. These characters DO have secret identities and DO have lives outside of the team.

Overall I'm really impressed, and looking forward to seeing more episodes when they start airing again.

Here's to still hoping. This would be a good release for Shout Factory to pick up and distribute if Disney feels they can't justify it.

Gregg: Long and repeated story cut short: Very Fake. Amazon doesn't need an official release to make a page, they often have pages as passive indicators of potential buyer interest. Or something.

Hopefully that's one less future already-answered-question whenever the queue opens back up. >_>

Justin: "The Last Airbender" did just fine at the box office. It was its critical reception that was abysmal; still, it was a financial success for Nickelodeon, and the franchise is moving forward accordingly (now, whether they'll let Shymylan make a sequel is more of an open question, but if it continues to perform financially well then I for one wouldn't mind).

Some speculation here: http://veryaware.com/2011/07/sdcc-conan-obrien-may-bring-the-flaming-c-to-san-diego/ Comic series? Maybe an animated series but then it might have to divorce itself from Young Justice. My guess is some kind of cartoon on the web or Adult Swim.

Justin Lindley - [justin.lindley@gmail.com]

Todd - Or maybe the low DVD sales led Disney to think that it's better to start over and not saddle the movie with a continuity that won't draw many fans in the end. But usually studios love existing properties, whether they be comics, graphic novels, regular novels or sequels, because then they have a built-in fanbase and don't have to attract customers to something that's completely new and unknown. It's all about risk management. Eschewing an established property to make something identical yet unknown defies all traditional Hollywood logic. It's baffling.
Landon Thomas - [<- Gargoyles News Twitter Feed]

I remember that, when the comic book came out a few years ago, some people thought that it was too difficult to follow for new readers who hadn't seen the television series or had only vague memories of it. Maybe Disney thought that the simplest way to solve that was to reboot the continuity and thereby make it more accessible to everyone.

PATRICK> Honestly, I want to see new comics some time, or even "Gargoyles 2198" on the air. If this movie gets made, that will never, ever happen. I know it's not happening now, and likely won't. But I'd prefer likely won't to definitely won't.

Well aren't "we" arrogant. Maybe if "we" succeed, Disney will decide to put "Gargoyles" in their vault and never touch it again. I don't know, maybe I'm playing devil's advocate. I'm just not seeing how "Gargoyles" fandom can continue mustering all of its righteous outrage to crush any and all attempts to do anything related to gargoyles that's not "Gargoyles" without the fandom coming across as negative and inflexible.

They're doing it because the writers want to be free to do their own thing, not be constrained to work within the existing story. Crazier reinterpretations of way bigger things have been attempted before. Got 20 minutes to kill? Go to Youtube and search for "Kevin Smith Superman."

Count me in as someone who is just completely baffled by Disney's actions here. I mean, if it was just a movie that had some gargoyles in it (like Hunchback of Notre Dame), that'd be fine. But why recreate a property you already own? The premise is too close for comfort. And since they own Gargoyles, they should use that to their advantage. They would have a built in fan base to start with rather then starting from scratch... as it is, they are at risk of alienating potential fans.

So, I don't get it. Disney is a business and they need to make business decisions with profits and shareholders in mind... but this whole thing seems to defy any logic in terms of money as well.

It is easy to say that they are doing it because they hate (and have always hated) Gargoyles or that they are just stupid, but I honestly don't believe those explanations.

Still, I'm left clueless...

Asfor the letters, I'm happy to write and send them and I'm already started formulating some drafts in my head, but I want to verify that they are going to the right place. I wouldn't want to waste my time and stamp on sending a letter to the wrong place or worse pissing someone off with an avalanche of letters they shouldn't have received.

I don't get it... Why create a completely new franchise with nearly the same idea that has been brought to life a few years ago? I guess this is Hollywood nowadays... One year after a successful movie comes the sequel and another one and... five years later the remake. When directors are like "Why have a story, when one can have explosions?"

After all a bad movie about our Gargoyles really may still be better than a movie that has nothing to do with it. They could just take Awakening and make a movie out of it, but bigger and without the floppy disks. That wouldn't do too much damage either.

Besides... Does this news mean it's been greenlight already? It seems really odd to me, that "all of a sudden" (okay there were news last year...) Disney announces a new movie about Gargoyles.

Neill - [neillgargoyle(at)gmail.com]

The slant on the gargoyles in this projected movie certainly seems close to the familiar clan in the concept of their serving as protectors to their cities; even though (as Greg Weisman himself has pointed out) the notion of gargoyles as protectors has been around for a long time, living gargoyles in fiction are usually depicted as monstrous adversaries rather than guardian angels. (There are a few exceptions. Some years ago, there was a children's picture book called "God Bless the Gargoyles" with angels coming to the aid of some gargoyles feeling saddened over the scorn that humans show towards them; I even remember reading a "Gargoyles" fanfic once in which Billy and Susan's mother was complaining to Castaway that they were reading that book in her children's school and it was an outrage. The notion of the Quarrymen protesting such books and trying to get them banned from school libraries is certainly appealing. I also remember a children's book called "The Farthest-Away Mountain" or something like that which had friendly living gargoyles, though they were depicted as really dwarf-like beings transformed by an evil sorceress. And there's the gargoyles in the "Ultima" computer games, who seem menacing at first but turn out to be a civilized people with legitimate concerns.)

I half-wonder if the movie could be a way of doing something about living gargoyles without having to resurrect a series with a complex enough story that the Disney execs were nervous about explaining it to newcomers - though since they denied any connection to the television series, it can't be a continuity reboot.

Todd Jensen - [merlyn1@mindspring.com]

Anthony Tini - It's not simply a matter of convincing Disney to hire Greg to write it. If Disney were making a Gargoyles movie based on the TV show and they were not accepting any input from Greg, that would be an entirely different situation. Whoever greenlighted this movie is seeking an original property not a Gargoyles remake.

Even under the best case scenario of a live-action remake of the Gargoyles cartoon, would Disney let Greg write it? Would Greg want to? A screenplay is a lot different from TV animation.

I think Greg B. has the right idea of trying to get this movie killed and/or convincing Disney to remake the TV show into a movie. The key point is directly tying the movie to the existing Gargoyles property. Then regardless of who writes the movie, Gargoyles will be hot again. This situation is bigger than Greg Weisman because Disney is ignoring the entire Gargoyles property, not just Greg.

Landon Thomas - [<- Gargoyles News Twitter Feed]

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but how many letters is it going to take to fire the writers they reportedly hired to hire Greg Weisman? How many letters is it going to take for them to say, "Hmmm, these guys have a point, let's not make this movie and potentially make millions of dollars"? I wouldn't even know what to say if I wrote a letter. You would think that the Disney exec would have SOME idea that the Gargoyles property already exists. This whole situation makes no sense.

Assuming Greg is plugged into the "system" out there in Cali and he has an agent, shouldn't his agent be in talks with the Disney executives directly to make anything of substance happen?

Anthony Tini

To anyone who plans on writing letters to Disney regarding the gargoyles movie that isn't ours I have a small request: please be respectful. Nothing does more to make your voice be ignored than to be disrespectful. By expressing yourself to others as a fan of Gargoyles you also become a representative of the greater Gargoyles fandom. If you start in with some nasty comments you might just paint the entire fandom as people filled with such nastiness. That, in turn, could cause letters from other fans to be lumped into the nasty category and not even read. You can say the idea sucks, you can say they're ripping of Gargoyles, just do it respectfully.

Thanks

I'm not going to hold my breath, either waiting for a movie based on the actual property or even a new comic series. As far as I'm concerned there's only one medium for Gargoyles, our Gargoyles, to have a chance. Video games!

Yes, it's been a long time from the Genesis game, but now the tech has progressed where it can be done properly. Besides, who wouldn't want to have a Gargoyles adventure where YOU have a hand in the action?

<<Will Disney try to stamp out or at least tuck even further away the TV show so people focus on the movie?>>

YES, this. EXACTLY!

And yes, we want a movie that is based on our show. Even if it sucks. Disney will want to exploit the property anyway and then... say hello to "Gargoyles 2198," Season Two Volume Two and a new comic book series.

If a bad movie based on our show is the price to pay for just one of those things let alone all three, it's a small price.

Greg Bishansky
"Cartman gets ten million dollars and Michael Bay gets to keep making movies. There isn't a God." -Kyle

A quick look through Twitter and blogs and it seems pretty obvious that this story is being misunderstood. Lots of people think this is a live-action movie of the TV series and don't get it's a completely separate entity. If the trailers and title for this movie don't make it absolutely clear this isn't based off the TV show they're going to get a lot of disappointed fans in the theater and there might be some backlash.

I also wonder how this movie might affect the TV Gargoyles brand. Will people be reminded of the TV show and we'll see a boost in interest of the TV show? Will Disney try to stamp out or at least tuck even further away the TV show so people focus on the movie? And what happens if the movie is either a big hit or a big flop? Lots of things to ponder.

Patrick: Yes, I'd rather no movie than a movie that comes very close to many of the concepts of the original show. I want Disney to either do a movie based on the show or nothing that comes close to it.

Gorebash

MASTERDRAMON> I'm totally behind you on that point. I crappy movie based on Weisman's Gargoyles would at least breath some new life into the franchise and give Greg an opening to pitch some more comics or even a new animated series.
Algernon

Neill: I was using the first-person singular there; obviously, any or all of you are free to disagree with me on whether a low-quality film adaptation of our Gargoyles that breathes new life into the rest of the franchise would necessarily be "worth it."

But if I will remain completely frank, yes - I would be willing to swallow a movie of equal or lower quality than "The Goliath Chronicles" in a heartbeat if it meant new canon stories from Greg W. down the road. Again, beggars can't be choosers, and while I'd of course prefer hacks like Bay to stay the Hell away from the brand (not that I think we have anything to worry about, as there just aren't quite enough opportunities for explosions to catch his interest), I'd much rather see them get a shot at it and open new doors for the "Gargoyles" brand than for this unrelated film to permanently close them.

A dark CGI Gargoyles 2198 movie? Or maybe even a trilogy if it goes well?

"Beyond that, it could well be directed by Michael Bay"
What is worse? This or the Goliath Chronicles?
Do we really want that?

Neill - [neillgargoyle(at)gmail.com]

Personally, I just want a live-action movie that is part of, from an advertisement standpoint, the "Disney's Gargoyles" brand, and I want it to make good money. Beyond that, it could well be directed by Michael Bay, written by Stephenie Meyer, and ten times worse than "The Last Airbender" for all I care (obviously I'd prefer such a thing to be of high quality, but beggars can't be choosers and all that).

The important thing is that such a movie would bring attention - and advertising revenue - back to the actual canon works. We'd get "Season 2, Volume 2" in a heartbeat and probably more comics not too long after, not to mention the very real possibility of getting one of Greg's proposed series onto Disney XD as a tie-in, most likely "2198."

Look at "Avatar: The Last Airbender," which is getting a whole new series and a canon comic book publishing the adventures that took place between the two, all based on the financial success of the aforementioned "The Last Airbender." If that isn't proof of the positive influence that the mere existence of a live-action movie can exert on the health of a franchise, regardless of how that movie itself was received...then I don't know what is.

Would we rather see them make a movie about "our" Gargoyles with there being nothing similar other than they gave them the same names?

Would we rather see them make no movie at all?

They seem intent on NOT making a movie about "Gargoyles" that's based on the series and maintains character and continuity, so I'm just trying to figure out what it is that we want them to do.

I just wanted to say, i really like the young justice series!! I think the artwork and the story telling is outstanding!! Besides the good action scenes, the thing that has really caught my attention is the relationship developing between miss martian and superboy!! I hope the writer let them become girlfriend and boyfriend, i think it would be interesting to see how they deal with being heroes and having a love relationship. A lot of the superheroes series will build up a relationship between two heroes, but don't follow thru, they alway find away to destroy the relationship. These only series that showed two heroes dealing with a love relationship thru a season was a show i use to watch with the kids,Kim Possible, I thought that season was really good!! I know they weren't superheroes, but they were heroes, even those it was a kid show.

I'd also suggest following Lieutenant Colonel William Stacy as he's been thouroughly intergrated with the Pendragon cast by this point.
