"For every two dozen Phantom Menaces, there is a Return of the King. For every two-bit Shyamalan, a Stanley Kubrick is born. For every poor soul who groans during an Adam Sandler-funded Rob Schneider vehicle, there is a child crying life-affirming tears when Bambi's mom is shot. Somewhere out there, a film student is finding out what Rosebud means for the first time. A man is pausing as Fredo prays the Hail Mary on a boat over Lake Tahoe. A woman grasps her heart as Bogie's love flies off into the foggy night. All it takes is one moment to change a person. And that one moment... no matter how fleeting... is worth a thousand Transformers."

Bishansky> What do you mena "Hope we like it?"

Of course we LOVE it!!! :)

Do you have a picture of the Demona one you got?

Battle Beast - [Canada]
I did it! I watched all 485 Best picture nominees in 365 days!

I can't believe I noticed this, but Jackal has a cybernetic eye, like the 6 Million Dollar Man, and Hyena has a cybernetic ear, like the Bionic Woman. How did I not catch that before today?!?
Matt - [reginald_q_bumbershoot@hotmail.com]

Again, very cool. Can't get enough of good Gargoyles action figures.

Anthony> Heh, ditto what Masterdramon said. I'm hoping to get it eventually, but I just bought all the Avatar and Young Justice comics I was missing, plus I'm hoping to pick up YJ Legacy once it comes out, so I need to be strategic with my funds at the moment.

LoZ Timeline> The only quibble I have with the Defeat timeline is that it's not so much a split timeline as an alternate one. With the Child and Adult timelines, the event that caused the split definitively happened within the game itself; Defeat, on the other hand, is more of a "what if?" situation - "what if instead of what actually happened in the game, this other thing had happened?"

Other than that, I like that they managed to fit the original game into the continuity at all, and ultimately I don't mind hand-waving it as "Time manipulation just works weirdly in Hyrule". And it makes for appropriate symmetry, as Masterdramon and Brainiac pointed out. Plus, there are always future games to work into the timeline.

I will admit, though, that the only one of the pre-Ocarina games I've played is A Link to the Past, and that only recently, so I don't have as much nostalgia for them as I imagine I would if I'd played them as a kid. But I do appreciate their roles in building the games' mythos.

Heh. Scooped by Masterdramon AND doubled Power in place of including Courage. Obviously I didn't get enough sleep last night.
Brainiac - [OSUBrainiac at gmail dot com]
There is balance in all things. Live in symmetry with the world around you. If you must blow things up and steal from those around you, THAT'S WHAT RPGS ARE FOR!

Paul> I disagree with the idea that the branch where the Hero of Time fails has been rendered "practically non-canon." I see it as Time's "response" to Zelda splitting the timeline in the first place - a form of compensation for her actions.

Or, if you prefer, think of one branch being dominated by Wisdom, one by Power, and one by Power. It fits in quite nicely to the tripartite mythos of Hyrule.

Brainiac - [OSUBrainiac at gmail dot com]
There is balance in all things. Live in symmetry with the world around you. If you must blow things up and steal from those around you, THAT'S WHAT RPGS ARE FOR!

Paul: Oh, I definitely wouldn't say that. Everything in Hyrule's history comes in threes. In order for timelines to exist where Wisdom and Courage triumphed, it makes perfect sense to me that a timeline exists where Power triumphed in their first major clash instead.

The comparative lack of story, and generally bleak tone, of some of the earlier games simply makes placing them in "The Hero is Defeated" timeline more sensical than anywhere else.

And it makes for nice symmetry..."A Link to the Past," "Twilight Princess," and "The Wind Waker" all being parallel "second comings" for the spirit of the original Hero of Time, whatever his fate.

Of course, that's only my opinion. And I'll readily admit to being biased in the order I experienced the series in ("Ocarina of Time" first, then "The Wind Waker," then "Majora's Mask," and then the older games as I waited for "Twilight Princess" and eventually "Skyward Sword).

But the official timeline definitely clicked very well with me. Better than I expected it to, honestly.

"Time it was, and what a time it was...it was a time of innocence, a time of confidences..." - Simon and Garfunkel

I used to like the Zelda series more when I was younger, but I guess I became a bit jaded. Part of the fun, I guess, was trying to figure out the timeline on my own.

I guess what really bothers me is that the guys in charge seem indifferent or even disdainful of the first few games in the series, and it shows in the official timeline. It's hard to get over the fact that A Link to the Past, Zelda 1, and the Adventure of Link are practically non-canon.

Paul - [nampahcfluap@yahoo.com]

It's a tangent, but I just noticed this -- kudos to Greg Weisman for reaching 1,000+ rambles (as in the current count of green posts -- before 12-5-1997 the rambles aren't dated and I'm curious if any might be missing from the really early days). :)

@Masterdramon - Sounds good. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I currently am.

In other news, "Young Justice Legacy" finally has box art on Amazon.com. It's nothing fancy and I don't know if it's final, but it's nice to have a picture (finally). I just hope when 2/26/2013 hits that the release doesn't time jump to 2/26/2018. :)

I believe there are some Legend of Zelda fans in this room that enjoyed the gametrailers link I provided to the Zelda timeline video. The source of information for that video came from this recently release book: Hyrule Historia

That's a standard Wikia announcement. It might depend on your browser, but there should be a tiny cross in the top right corner of the box. Click the cross and it should go away. I just tried and it disappeared okay.

Anyone on the Young Justice Wiki seeing this in the lower corner of the screen: "Announcing Wikia Alliances! Sign up your community here."

I tried closing it but it doesn't respond, and I can't editing, log out or look at page histories with it up. Any idea on how to get rid of it (And yeah it's on other wikias)?

Newsarama has a recent series of "Top 10" lists that are usually very random. But I rather like this one, "Top 10 Best Comic Book Animated Series Ever", and not just because Young Justice is in it.

Antiyonder> And toys.

Hella mad sales of the toys wouldn't hurt.

Harlan Phoenix> Not to mention that I imagine consistant sales of the DVDs (recent and old), as well as the trade paperbacks and #25 would also help.

I like that you encourage a huge viewership boost and then proceed to link someone an illegal stream that wouldn't get any ratings.

Animeflavor.com is a great site to watch the show and there's no backward format or out-of-sync voicing.

I had a nice informative chat with the director of Cartoon Network. He said that if the viewing rates of Young Justice boosts up significantly in the next two months, then them and Warner Bros. might reconsider pulling the plug on the show. We need THOUSANDS of more viewers to keep the show going. If we can do that, hopefully Greg and Brandon can get the green light to create a third season.

Sydni - SuperMartian89

That's bad news, but to be perfectly honest, I've fallen behind in my YJ viewing ever since I moved in May 2011. My girlfriend and I only pay for internet service, not Cable TV, because we don't watch enough television to justify the expense (besides, there's never anything good on two thirds of the channels, anyway).

I also never found a site to watch them online that I was happy with, since the picture was always backwards, or there was entirely too much lag, or pop-ups, or the sound was too out of sync.

So I hope that it's one of the shows that will be added to Netflix Instant this March, when Netflix is supposed to pick up a bunch of Cartoon Network programs.

Anyone remember another PBS series that also went in depth into Shakespeare's plays? By presenting them in alternate settings or times? (Also had various clips of film and TV productions of said plays. Many done by the BBC.)

And most of Young Justice fandom isn't aware enough to realize it'll just move onto the next shiny thing anyway.

Watched the "Shakespeare Uncovered" piece on "Macbeth" yesterday afternoon; "Gargoyles" fans will be delighted to learn that it brings up a bit about the real Macbeth and how he slew Duncan in battle rather than murdering him in his sleep. It's also worth watchng for its own sake, as is the second episode, which focused on "As You Like It" and "Twelfth Night" (the latter gets my attention in particular, since I've played Malvolio a couple of times - school performances rather than professional productions, though).

Hufflepuffs are great finders

And there's the push this day needed to turn from neutral to crappy. Perfect.

Maybe the uproar that has already begun will convince whoever makes these decisions to reconsider? I mean, I was under the impression that not cancelling popular shows was good business sense, great-quality or no. Hopefully CN will connect the dots when their viewership, with any luck, plunges.

I hope Greg makes a statement on this soon. I suspect it is true, but I hope it isn't. It is a good show.

Wasn't someone saying something about Greg's shows having a two-season curse or something?

How about Burnetiamorpha as Gargate ancestors?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Burnetiamorpha.jpg
We had this topic several times, but I don't really think that Gargates are descendants of Therocephalians... I don't know, I'm probably not as good as Matt regarding this topic, but Therocephalians just seem too... mammalian to me. Even the therapsid forms that are "almost" Therocephalians, like Gorgonopsids.

The Burnetiamorpha on the other hand are more "primitive", show many mammalian features anyway and have very interesting heads which show these bone outgrowths (is this even the correct word? lol) that are typical for Gargates. Sadly I couldn't find too much good information about Burnetiamorpha although I was investigating a lot, especially about Lemurosaurus. I'm currently trying to get some offline ressources (books).
