Personally speaking I'd imagine that kelpies would take the form of women as in art they were often depicted as beautiful, naked women. While their true form (or as close to a true form can be applied for a member of the Third Race) would be that of monstrous horses.

It also makes me wonder if the Loch Ness Clan ever had to contend with them.

MATTHEW - Ah, yes, I remember that scene. (For those who haven't read it or forgotten, Tolkien attributed golf to the victory of a hobbit named Bandobras "Bullroarer" Took - a distant relative of Bilbo's on his mother's side - who defeated an invading Orc chieftain named Golfimbul, knocking his head off his body and into a rabbit hole.)

I wondered, as I watched that episode, what kelpies would be like in the Gargoyles Universe - beyond being members of the Third Race, obviously.

I can't think of the invention of golf without thinking back to the Hobbit.

Incidentally, I did like their take on the Scottish Kelpies. They were pretty accurately represented and having them voiced by the actors from My Little Pony was an inspired choice.

Piece of "DuckTales" trivia from last evening's episode:

Scrooge McDuck's story about "Black" Donald McDuck inventing golf in the 15th century (followed by the game getting banned because of his temper tantrums) comes from a history of the McDuck family written by Don Rosa for his "Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck". It wasn't included in "Life and Times" (the higher-ups felt that the focus should be kept on Scrooge himself), but appeared in Volume Four of a series of reprints of Rosa's "Disney duck" stories by Fantagraphics Books. (It covers the history of the McDucks all the way back to Roman Britain - one of the McDucks back then sold Hadrian the stone he'd use for building Hadrian's Wall - and, among other things, mentions that the McDucks also granted Macbeth shelter in their castle during the civil war of 1057.) Another example of how the production team have been doing their homework (alongside the mention of Donald's parents' names - Hortensia and Quackly - and Della Duck - which come from Donald Duck's family tree, designed by Carl Barks and used by Rosa when he wrote "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck").

Incidentally, King James II of Scotland really did ban golf during the 15th century - though because he believed it was distracting his subjects from archery practice.

So that makes two characters named Katana in different projects Greg Weisman's done.

In terms of identifying the FIVE new members of the "Outsiders" in the image posted last week, these are my guesses going left to right:

- Katana
- Geo-Force
- Forager
- Halo
- Metamorpho

KarrinBlue> You should have waited a bit to ask about that; this post I occupy is far more appropriate for asking about a FOUR-limbed individual.

Heh.

There is balance in all things. Live in symmetry with the world around you. If you must blow things up and steal from those around you, THAT'S WHAT RPGS ARE FOR!

So any ideas on who four-arms was, in the poster? I'm personally hoping that the green guy is Geo-Force, and that Terra is also going to appear this season. I'd love it if YJ did a Teen-Titans-esque sympathetic take on her, where she became an actual hero after some false starts.
KarrinBlue

I'll second that for all those great moms.
