Well...That went well. Here are my thoughts on Season 3 episode 24 "Terminus"
[SPOILER] With all the happenings and goings-on I kinda forgot about the members of the League stationed out in space and the fact that they've been trying to get at the Orphanage since episode 14. And unfortunately it didn't really go well for them. And you know I feel kinda stupid not piecing some of this together. I really should've looked back at episodes like 14, I might've made the connection that the machine Granny and Desaad built projected a field of energy from the Ghost Dimension like in Granny's X-Pit. And with it she can expose entire fields of space to the Anti-Life Equation. Also nice to see Elongated Man, goes to show that unlike the DCAU that don't mind have multiple characters with the same powers/skill set.

After the pantomime argument from last episode it's nice to really hear the fallout between Conner and M'Gann after that revelation. Including the faked death, manipulating their friends, and that time M'Gann tried to erase his memories of an argument. Between this, helping Brion get a hold of his temper in a way that Dick never could, and then asking Dick that important question about what kind of leader he wants to be. Well Conner has probably become the most empathetic character on the show, a far cry from the brooding, hot-headed berserker he was in season 1. A true testament to Greg's skill at character development.

So I did correctly guess that Vandal would approach the heroes, what I was wrong about was that he didn't try any form of manipulation or blackmail. In fact he was pretty direct. An internationally wanted super villain strolling through Hollywood in broad daylight shows just shows both his serious cojones and just how desperate he's gotten. I know some folks are speculating on his motives like whether he was sending them like sheep to the slaughter in order to rally the rest of Earth's heroes, or whether this was some form of payback against the original team for thwarting his plans so many times. Personally I think he knew just how well that group of heroes operates and may have expected them to pull off a long shot like they have in the past.

Which brings us to our feverish reunion of our original team. Man Greg, why do you have to play with our emotions like this? But one thing it did remind me of was what made Dick so special in the first place. With all the backstage machinations I think he forgot what made him the Boy Wonder. A guy who forged friendships with all of his teammates, that adapted on the fly to any situation and a really good hacker. This was pretty heartfelt moment that hearkens back to the halcyon days of season 1 and a good reminder just how far they've come, and how far they still need to go. I can just hear season 1 Batman chewing them out for entering an unknown, enemy base without any reconnaissance or backup. Unfortunately this reunion does bring to mind the things and people that they really needed on this mission. A speedster like Wally and a magic user like Zatanna would've been really useful on this mission, especially since magic seems to be pretty good at alleviating the pain of the Ghost Dimension. Makes me wonder if Zatana and Traci 13 might be integral for freeing those under the influence of the Anti-Life Equation. Which also brings up Granny's words about how the Anti-Life Equation will eventually kill regular humans. That's certainly not good for some of our heroes, especially the Earth Lanterns. If they do end up succumbing, well we might end up seeing Kyle Rayner in the future.

I was pretty convinced that last episode was the final nail in the coffin that Tara would go ahead with the Judas Contract but now I'm not so sure. Between her comforting Forager about how it's difficult to save one from themselves, that pensive look during Granny's monologue and just seeing the heroes rally to save their friends just after being at each other's throats. Well, perhaps she's not as lost as I originally thought.

One last thing I noticed, Halo's incantation which was used to heal the Mother Box and purge Vic of the influence of the Father Box. But what if the incantation is simply one that purges all influences from someone's mind? And what it does is wipe the mind clean for the subliminal messaging of Granny's X-Pit to take over?

Some final thoughts: nice little reference with the doorman Kirby Jacobs. AKA Jacob Kurtzbeg. AKA Jack Kirby, creator of the Fourth World. So our rescuers are in need of rescuing, I foresee two possibilities: one) Beast Boy rallies the Outsiders, what's left of the League, Batman Inc. and what's left of the Team to stage a daring rescue. Or two) that last flash of mental powers from M'Gann was actually a mental illusion placed on Granny to make her believe she won. I'm actually leaning towards the latter because at the end of the episode we see the Anti-Life Equation engulf what looks like a whole galaxy and we have no idea if that machine is even capable of that level of scope. Plus, a fantasy where everything goes right would probably be more convincing for someone as arrogant as Granny. [/SPOILER]

He's toughening her up, he's helping her, this is both of them making sure that no one can hurt her again. Who went through that kind of training herself, and as an adult has internalized that that was abusive and unacceptable, and has steadfastly refused to do that herself when training the younger kids. She's attentive, she supports her students, and she's encouraging in all the ways Slade isn't. And, at this point, she's also one of the only adult heroes who hasn't been involved in this whole betrayal plot. She's been honest with everyone. So if Slade's telling Tara he's the only one who would be honest with her, the only one she can trust to have her best interests at heart... well, I think Artemis might take some umbrage at that.
