So my review of the next Spectacular Spider-Man episode is going to come out on Monday when the chat resets. Sorry about the delay but there's been some family issues and I've been a little burned out because of that.

MASTERDRAMON - Thanks. I must have overlooked those.

U.S. Netflix will also be gaining the entirety of Avatar: The Last Airbender today which is pretty neat.

I own the whole series twice over (on the original season collection DVDs, and on the full series blu-ray that came out a couple years back), but it's nice for folks who prefer the ease of streaming content.

As for the O.J. Simpson trial, Greg W. has in fact mentioned it as a contributing factor before, though only in passing:

EIGHTH (I think) in the name of the final season of She-Ra & the Princesses of Power dropping on Netflix today!

We must be brave.

Thanks for posting the interview!

Gives me some hope.

Never the end!

PHOENICIAN - This was the first I'd seen Greg mention the O. J. Simpson trial, actually. He'd mentioned other factors in the show's end (such as it getting beaten by "Power Rangers" in the ratings), but this one was new to me.

Chip- yup, was trying the game and saw that too!

And X (where X = the next number on the weekly roll all which I forgot and can’t see without hitting the back button, but I’m too lazy to hit the back button, so you’ll have to deal with the variable X). :-)

I can't personally remember the show getting preempted either, but I was just a kid then, right in that targeted demographic sweet spot, lol.

That said, I vividly recall the Simpson trial's negative effects on the show from Greg Weisman's various rambles and responses over the years. In fact, that interview almost feels like a high-concentrated sampling of AskGreg itself -- there's some really great details for fans old and new to peruse. :-)

Just discovered a new interview with Greg Weisman - which reveals that the O. J. Simpson trial helped do in "Gargoyles". (I can't recall "Gargoyles" getting pre-empted for trial coverage in 1995; my viewing area in St. Louis must have been fortunate to avoid that.)

Hi Mr. Weisman. I have a question for you:

I don't know if you are aware, but in the "Early Warning" episode of Whelmed: The Young Justice Files (back in Oct. 2019) the host quoted you on something you told him in conversation. This is something that used to happen now and then, but lately it happens in almost every episode: "Greg texted me this", "Brandon emailed me that", "Greg/Brandon told me whatever", etc.

So, looking at your 2-year-7-month-and-17-day backlog of 1172 questions, I'm wondering: why are you giving BTS information to this one person while the rest of your fanbase has to submit questions and wait months (at least) or YEARS (worst case and more likely scenario) for an answer???? It must be really cool to be so intimate and chummy with one's idol, and I bet the host feels super important and validated, but this is some double standard bullshit!

Are you aware of this? And if you are, how can you be okay with it? Don't you think this is unfair? You have thousands of fans who support your work whichever way they can, but 99.9% of them have never even met you in person, let alone exchanged emails or text messages with you.

If I make an entire podcast dedicated to kissing your asses, will I earn the same privileges? Will I be able to ask all my questions without a waiting queue? Will I get to hang out with you, have lunch together or exchange personal contacts?

(Originally I posted this on AskGreg, but then I decided I shouldn't have to wait 2 years for an answer, for all the reasons above.)

Is anyone else here playing Disney Sorcerer’s Arena? Demona is a playable character.

Never learning the truth that what feels as though a burden pushing down upon our shoulders, is actually, a sense of purpose that lifts us to greater heights. Never forget that fear is but the precursor to valour, that to strive and triumph in the face of fear, is what is means to be a hero.~~~Trollhunters

Fourth.

I was watching a television program about Norway yesterday, which showed a stave church (the kinds of churches they built in Norway in medieval times), with stylized dragon heads jutting out of the roofs. The host compared the dragon heads to gargoyles, and I began wondering whether gargoyles in Scandinavia (before they died out) had looked something like that. (Before I saw that program, I had thought that Scandinavian gargoyles might have been more evocative of trolls, because trolls were supposed to turn to stone in the daytime - though the details were different, of course.)

It does suggest that we can get some idea on regional variations among gargoyles by studying the "fantastic art" of that region, particularly when that art served a "gargoyle-like" function.
