MATT> Excellent, it's still a long way off, but we'll coordinate when we get there!
Greg Bishansky

You rang?

Good to see you again, Supermorff and D. Taina!!!

Greg B> I got your email, by the way. Sorry I didn't respond. Life, ya know? Anyway, I'm interested!

Matt

Supermorff: Thanks for letting me know! I'll check it out.

D. Taina> Hi, one more thing to flag about the wiki. On the diff pages that show differences between page versions, the boxes that contain the changes have blue backgrounds and white text (just like regular wiki pages), and the actual changes in the text are highlighted in very pale colours, which makes the text very hard to read. I'm not sure what the best fix would be. One option is to make the boxes that contain changes have white backgrounds and black text (like the boxes of text on either side of the changes); another would be to change the highlight for better contrast.
Supermorff

Hmm?
Oh wrong Matt.

> I'm trying to think of other wikis that have really exciting layouts and I'm pretty much blanking.

ANY other wiki. Literally any.

Anonymous

I think the layout is maybe a bit plain, but it's very readable, which is probably more important anyway. I'm trying to think of other wikis that have really exciting layouts and I'm pretty much blanking.

I think maybe the background could be spruced up a bit? But I'm not really sure how exactly. But I always loved Gargwiki. The way it breaks down information and provides some outside background info is super awesome. Like I didn't know Puck was bisexual. Though I'm surprised all of Oberon's Children being shapeshifters aren't pansexual (pun sort of intended).

I've been watching more of the show in french. And often times in French dubs the actors will try to almost mirror exactly what the original actor did, just in french. I'm trying to think if there was anything really interesting in the last couple of episodes I watched. The main thing was when I was watching Double Jeopardy in French. The bit where Sevarius disguises his voice for the ransom call made me laugh remembering how distinct Tim Curry's voice is even when heavily disguised by voice modulation, but that's not really about the french dub.

The french actor who plays Goliath (Go-lee-att in French) is really good. Totally different than David, but still really, really good. I've mentioned this before but David plays Goliath as a sort of gruff warrior poet, while Benoît Allemane (the French actor) plays him as if he's more of a really intelligent monster. His Thailog is great too. In that case I think Keith David is more or less just mimicking Frakes's delivery style as Xanatos when he plays Thailog more or less. (He even does that weird "I'm not actually yelling I'm just speaking REALLY emphatically" thing that Frakes does in EVERYTHING). But Benoit plays him like he's really sadistic and underhanded.

Supermorff> I definitely miss having you there. I think I recall you having some ideas for updating/upgrading the wiki. I know it's been a long time, but I'd like you involved again... if you have the time or interest, of course.

TODD> D'aaaw! Much gratitude, Todd. Not to toot my own horn but I believe I contributed the bulk of those. Definitely the Mordred one at least. Made a conscious effort to only use public domain artwork were I could.

Greg and D.Taina> Excellent work on GargWiki's look! I'm not involved there any more but I'm glad that you all are looking after it and it remains such a great resource.

Some feedback on the new appearance: links to pages that don't exist yet are now yellow just like other links. Could they be made red or otherwise visually distinct so that it's obvious when pages are missing? Also, on the recent changes page the date is in black text instead of white text. That's a minor point, but white will make it easier to read.

Supermorff

Speaking of the GargWiki, one touch I still really like about it is the inclusion of "non-Gargoyles" art for the entries on "real" legendary characters, both canon and canon-in-training (such as a Howard Pyle picture of Gawain for the Gawain entry, an Arthur Rackham picture of Mordred for the Mordred entry, a Pre-Raphaelite painting of Morgan le Fay for the Morgan le Fay entry, etc.).
Todd Jensen

Props to Greg and D. Taína for giving GargWiki some well needed streamlining.

Oh wow, let me also share my thanks to D. Taina and GregX -- the Wiki's rendering has definitely been improved!

The only thing that I still miss is the ol' popular page. No idea if the stats would be relatively recent or span the entire Wiki's history, but I enjoyed prowling that Special Page.

I'm getting the itch to dive into the Canon-in-Training again d:

I made a few more tweaks to GargWiki. I made the sidebar and header white again and fixed the font size. Let me know if anything else looks wonky!

And, yes, the typeface at GargWiki does look bigger. I'll have to get used to that.

Anonymous: Yes, the GargWiki is indeed multicolored because it has more than two colors. Last time I checked, that was the definition of "multicolored."

And if you're not happy with GargWiki's design, I suggest that you direct your criticism toward somebody who can actually do something about it, meaning me. Shoot me an e-mail or post your grievances with the site here and I'll be happy to take your constructive criticism into consideration.

Hey, guys! Wow, I haven't posted here in years. I'm very proud to have worked on GargWiki. It was a labor of love. My main goal yesterday was to make the site functional again by restoring the original tabs and redoing the colors. Now we can begin prettying it up. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Also, the original Gargoyles Imagery Resource is back online, soon to be updated with a new look.

Anonymous> If it's as multicolored as the GargWiki, you might want to consider seeing a doctor.

Anyways, it doesn't seem hugely changed to me. I notice there appear to be some shifts in background colors and it feels a little bigger overall, as if browser zoom were turned on maybe 10% or so. The font seems different as well (though that could just be the overall size increase). The tabs, however...yeah, nice to have those visible now. The previous nubs that, even when they were working, don't show what they are for until you manipulate them were somewhat annoying. Overall, the minor cosmetic changes are mostly irrelevant to me, the size increase is nice but will take a little while to adapt to, and the repaired tabs are a definite improvement.

Hi Mr. Weisman. I have a question for you:

I don't know if you are aware, but in the "Early Warning" episode of Whelmed: The Young Justice Files (back in Oct. 2019) the host quoted you on something you told him in conversation. This is something that used to happen now and then, but lately it happens in almost every episode: "Greg texted me this", "Brandon emailed me that", "Greg/Brandon told me whatever", etc.

So, looking at your 2-year-4-month-and-11-day backlog of 1214 questions, I'm wondering: why are you giving BTS information to this one person while the rest of your fanbase has to submit questions and wait months (at least) or YEARS (worst case and more likely scenario) for an answer???? It must be really cool to be so intimate and chummy with one's idol, and I bet the host feels super important and validated, but this is some double standard bullshit!

Are you aware of this? And if you are, how can you be okay with it? Don't you think this is unfair? You have thousands of fans who support your work whichever way they can, but 99.9% of them have never even met you in person, let alone exchanged emails or text messages with you.

If I make an entire podcast dedicated to kissing your asses, will I earn the same privileges? Will I be able to ask all my questions without a waiting queue? Will I get to hang out with you, have lunch together or exchange personal contacts?

(Originally I posted this on AskGreg, but then I decided I shouldn't have to wait 2 years for an answer, for all the reasons above.)

Still looks like shit, Bishansky.

TODD> It wasn't down, but there were issues that made it unwieldy and almost unworkable. Not to mention an eyesore.
Greg Bishansky

Thanks, Bishansky! (Though this is the first I've heard about the GargWiki being down. I did notice it looked a bit different when I visited it just now, though.)
Todd Jensen

There's still a few adjustments to be made, but I am very proud to say that finally, the GargWiki has been cleaned up! The tabs are back and working! The site's colors have been (mostly) corrected! We're back!

I would like to extend a big hand to D.Taina for getting things back into working order.

MATTHEW - Thanks. I was wondering if that might have been it.

Thanks Todd, sorry I missed your post.
That picture was actually the Gargoyles actor cameo I was talking about. Underneath all that makeup is Tim Curry playing the Lord of Darkness from the 1985 movie "Legend." I watched it years ago but the movie's so off-the-walls it's stuck with me ever since.

FallenLegend: No need to worry, I saw your message the first time.

I will take care of it when I reach that pair of questions in the queue, but keep in mind that the way Ask Greg works is there's no way to skip to a particular question to approve/delete. If your post is the 1000th approved question, I must individually click through the 999 previous questions, one at a time, in order to do so. If I was to just drop everything and accommodate your request right now, it'd probably take me about 3-4 hours, conservatively.

So my practice is to take note of these requests and handle them once I reach the question naturally in the approval process. As I have a full-time job, it's really the only way to fulfill this responsibility and still say sane.

Hope you can understand.

Hey guys sorry for being annoying, I already sent an email to the webmaster without response, who can I contact for a question deletion.

I know we are two years behind from my questioning getting to him, but I do dread the idea that Greg might think I said I pitied him, and I would apreciate some help.

I was writing something unrelated to ask Greg hence the reason tha's there. Thanks!

MATTHEW - Thanks for the review of "Her Brother's Keeper". Out of curiosity, where'd you get the picture of Satan to illustrate the "Prince of Darkness" remark?

And I enjoyed your discussion of how Elisa's keeping the gargoyles secret (or trying to) differed from other animated series where the non-human leads have a human friend who's hiding them from the world.

Even though a few weeks ago everyone in here told me that Greg isn’t going to answer my question here, I’m still gonna ask it! Because I’m Jordan! It doesn’t matter that they pointed out how entitled that I am, trying to skip over the line, or how rude I am, with my foul language. It doesn’t matter because I’m Jordan! I deserve answers because I bought stuff! It doesn’t even matter that several people actually ANSWERED my question, because I’m Jordan!

Sincerely, Jordan.

It starts with "I pity you", but that was because I was writing unrelated to ask greg. I'm not saying I pity Greg.

I resubmitted another question without that opener.

Would apreciate if the version that doesn't have that "pity" thing would remain. Thanks!
