Three questions representative of the split and merging of worlds in "Misplaced":

Where was Wolf? Was he on the world of adults, the world of kids, both, or neither?

When the worlds merged again, what happened to the airplane? Did it end up crashed in the ocean because it lost its pilot mid-flight, or is it still safely parked at the airport because it never took off?

If Zatarra had donned the Helm of Fate while the worlds were still split (and while Zatanna was wearing the helm in the world without grown-ups), would Nabu have ended up possessing both of them? And what would have happened when the worlds merged again?

Hi,just wanted to ask you a few questions about Wonder Woman.

1)When did she leave Themyscira?
2)When did she become Wonder Woman and start fighting crime?
3)Does she have a homebase city, and if she does, what city is it?

Greg responds...

1. Which time?

2. 1941, originally.

I watched "Misplaced" yesterday morning and let me just say that it was simply awesome. I truly love Young Justice. Now, I have two questions about this episode:

1. When I saw Teekl transform into that huge saber-teeth behemoth, I expected Wolf to come down and attack. Seeing only Superboy face off with the cat didn't disappoint me, but it did leave me wondering about Wolf's wherabouts. Where was he and why didn't Conner bring him along?

2. So in one scene, Nabu seems to be losing his stability because the helmet has been split, and we know that since the item in question was shown to be present in both worlds. So just out of curiosity, what would have happened if someone in the adult's dimension had worn it and kept it on AFTER the two worlds merged back while Zatanna did the same?

Greg responds...

1. Uh, maybe Wolf was on his own mission. (Honestly, the episode was just already crowded enough, don't you think?)

2. Any consistent reader of this site knows I'm not big on hypotheticals.

Hi Greg,
I was wondering how much can be shared between your show and the WB DC direct to videos. For instance, as the movies "Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths" and "Justice League: Doom" share an executive producer and lead character designer with Young Justice, could you theoretically utilize character designs from those two movies? I imagine that even if you could, you would prefer to tailor unique versions for the show; but I'm curious what can be reused.

Greg responds...

We can - and occasionally do - reuse elements from past WB productions (usually things like cars or paper clips or other props, but also the occasional background design or pedestrian), as long as they fit the style of the series. This is done to save money and time, so that our designers can focus on elements that are more unique to our series.

Hi Greg.

A couple of questions about Misplaced:
Nabu desired Zatanna as a host because of her youth and magical ability.
Zatara persuaded Nabu to take him instead with his comment that he was at his peak of ability. Would Nabu's ideal host be someone both young and powerful? As a Lord of Order, would a potential host's virtue or goodness make a difference in his decision? Do youth and virtue/goodness amplify Fate's power?

With Captain Marvel, I liked your emphasis on Billy and his qualities of intelligence, determination, bravery, and loyalty. Cap is a powerhouse, but has shown the playfulness and enthusiasm of a child, not to mention a love of junk food. Billy is a child that showed the maturity of an adult, not to mention a love of the ladies.
As Billy ages, can the Wisdom of Solomon and Courage of Achilles bridge the gap between him and his alter ego? In other words, could those gifts somehow carry over to Billy without his transforming?

Thanks for taking my question.

Greg responds...

Youth probably mattered, but to an immortal entity the difference between Zatanna and Zatara's ages may have seemed insignificant.

I'll leave the goodness question to your interpretation.

As for Billy, SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.

Hi Greg,

I've been wondering about the inception of "Young Justice." Specifically, when was the show named? Was there any point at which it was "Untitled DC Animation Show" or was it "Young Justice" from the get-go? And did you choose the name "Young Justice," or was the project given to you with the name already in place?

Relatedly, did you consider at any point having The Team on the show be called "Young Justice," or was that always meant to just be the title of the show?

Thanks!

Greg responds...

This is MOSTLY ASKED AND ANSWERED, but, yes, the project was handed us as "Young Justice" though I suppose if we had wanted to change it, we might have had the opportunity to suggest alternatives. But none of us wanted to change it.

We did have a discussion about whether the Team should be called "Young Justice" - but Sam, Brandon, Kevin and I all agreed that it would be cooler to make that ONLY the title of the series and not of the Team. At least, given the tone of our series.

Hey, just wanted to say that that new episode was amazing! I watched it over and over aagin. I couldn't find many complaints about it. But one thing i wanted to ask was: at the end, some of the team reunited happily with their parents. They did not show Robin and Batman. :( could you maybe confirm if they had a talk or something that wasnt shown? Or is that too emotional for the big bad Bat? Also, were Robin and Artemis seriously injured in the fight? I mean, they were knocked out for most of it and when Robin woke up, he was holding his side and talking as if in pain. But back at the cave, they were both carrying boxes. Just wanted to know if their injuries were something we'll see/will effect them in the next ep (broken ribs etc.)
Thank you, and this is one of the best shows i have ever seen!

Greg responds...

1. There just isn't room to show everything and everyone. But you can be sure that both were very glad to see each other.

2. Not seriously. Though of course, most super-hero shows play a little fast and loose with that sort of thing.

Someone already asked how old is Hawkman, so I'll ask:

How old is Hawkwoman?
How old is Felix Faust?
How old is Blackbriar Thorn?
How old is Wizard?

Also, what happened to the opening sequence in Misplaced?

Greg responds...

As of the end of Season One:

1. Hawkwoman is 28.

2. I didn't set an age for Felix Faust, but he's older than a normal human lifespan.

3. Ditto for Blackbriar Thorn.

4. Ditto for Wizard.

5. Our main title has been truncated to make room for those fun DC shorts as part of DC Nation. (And before you ask, it does NOT upset me. I think creating a destination around DC Nation more than makes up for the loss of our main title.)

Hi! I love Young Justice, and I'm glad it's finally back. I don't even mind waking up earlier on Saturdays than I normally would. I think it's especially wonderful how you can see Superboy's development through the little things he does, like smiling at the little kid with the Superman shirt. It's subtle, but it's noticeable enough to be very effective, and I think it's good that the extent of his development isn't all in the things he says.

I have a couple of questions, too.

It might be more obvious to someone who's read more comics than I have, but on Earth-16, is Black Canary Dinah Drake or Dinah Lance?

Also, I noticed that in Misplaced, the opening was shortened even more. That made me kind of sad, and I figure it wasn't your choice, but Cartoon Network's. Maybe because of the DC Nation shorts? I was wondering if you think it'll be a permanent thing, but I understand if you have no idea either.

Thanks! :D

Greg responds...

This Canary is Dinah Lance, the daughter of Larry Lance and Dinah Drake Lance.

Hi Greg! I just watched "Misplaced" and it was amazing!
When I first read the Synopsis I though of the Justice League Unlimited episode "Kid Stuff", but your take is so much more interesting; I particularly liked the twist in the middle with the dual realities.
Second, thanks for finally answering the question on the League knowledge of Billy's dual identity (I knew Batman knew!) and I admit I Was looking forward to the Team to find out Billy's real age, hopefully they will star treating him better.
Third: Poor Zatanna, I think it's worse when you have to mourn someone that isn't actually dead.
Fourth, I like Riddler look, pretty nice, and pretty low key compare to other versions, although I Will miss the Bowler Hat. And the Light has Starro now, gives me goosebumps.
And Finally the date: November 5th! That's my birthday! Lots of things seem to happen in my birthday (remember, remember, the 5th of November).
Anyway, thanks for an amazing episode, and I can't wait for what's next (I've read the synopses, You Are Amazing!)

Hello, Greg, I would first like to say you are doing a fantastic job on Young Justice, but I have a couple questions:
1) You have stated before that the Riddler is not in Arkham Asylum as he is not insane, is this your opinion on the character in general, or just the Earth-16 incarnation?
2) Why did you decide to start with such an enormous threat as The Light for the first season of YJ, where a single one if the leaders could easily be the big threat of the season on their own? This isn't a critque, just curiousity.

Greg responds...

1. I can only speak for the Earth-16 version, but obviously the opinions that Brandon and I held about the characters walking in, influenced how we chose to depict them.

2. We have a story to tell.

I'm not exactly sure if this is a spoiler question, but here it goes:
Dick appears to be slowly transitioning into the role of leader of the group, stepping up to lead the team when Aqualad was felled to the "invaders", reassuring Zatanna when she doubted her abilities in "Misplaced", encouraging a fearful Artemis during the bout against Red Volcano. My question is this:

1) The look that Robin gives Aqualad when he vehemently denies that any of his team members are traitors - is that suspicion or shock over his naiveté?

On an unrelated note,

2) In "Misplaced", when Billy utters the name of immortal Shazam, does the plane teleport into another dimension, or is it merely destroyed?

1. It's the seeds of doubt.

2. Neither, at that moment. He is transported to the adult dimension. The plane stayed right where it was, i.e. moving through the air of the kid dimension.

I don't know where you got the idea that Dudley was cold to Billy in "Alpha Male". I certainly didn't get that at all.

A question about Atlantis:
Have you wondered that in a land with names like Orin, Orm, Mera, Tula, Kaldur'ahm, and Sha'lain'a, the name Garth sticks out like a sore thumb? Unlike any of the former names, it sounds so un-Greek (or un-Atlantean).

PS: I really like this incarnation of Garth. I hope to see more of him in future episodes.

I don't know what does or doesn't qualify as Atlantean except what I learned MUST qualify based on the sources. Does Garth sound more or less "Atlantean" than Ronal or Blubber or Lori? I guess that's up to the ear of the beholder.

To begin, I wanted to say that I really like "Young Justice" and what amazes me about the show in particular is how heavily serialized it is as an animated program. That is to say, very few US animated series attempt the same level of continuity and on-going storytelling. So, my questions here will mostly be about the serialized nature of the show.

Neosmith writes...

First of all, I’ve noticed that the approach as a whole is to make standalone/arc episodes. In other episodes, nearly every single episode so far has a self-contained storyline that additionally builds on the longer running plotlines.

Why did you choose to approach the series in such a way in particular? Was there perhaps talk that the series might become too complex for audiences to follow?

During the show’s development stages, was there ever consideration of making the show a more standalone show in general? Or of making more two-part episodes that tackle a single standalone/arc plotline?

Or conversely, having multiple ongoing plots unfold over the course of one episode without resolution, leading to a cliffhanger ending and necessitating more episodes to bring everything to an end (I think it’s referred to as the ‘flexi-narrative’ structure)?

Has there ever been any pressure (from the network, DC or outside forces) to de-serialize the show and make more standalone episodes that don't connect to the main arc of the season at all?

Do you ever feel that having only 22-minutes to tell a story hurts the quality of an episode, or forces you to rush through material?

Do you know pretty much every major plot beat of the season when you started writing the episodes or are certain key plot points figured out along the way?

Have you ever been in a situation where you decided to take the main story in a bit of different direction and so had to go back you to earlier episodes and re-write them to make sure everything fits together seamlessly?

Given that the first season so far has begun many different plot points, can we expect all of them to be resolved by the end of the first season or will certain threads carry over to next season and beyond? In other words, are the arcs self-contained or will they span multiple seasons?

Greg responds...

In the future, please NUMBER your questions.

1. I think it's the best of both worlds to have coherent stand-alone adventures (great yarns) that still forward an overall arc. That way anyone can enter at any time and pick up what's going on.

1a. I pitch my shows as "Episodic but Sequential" because that's how I prefer to work. No one's forcing me to do it this way.

2. No.

2a. No.

3. No.

4. No.

5. Not to rush, but we almost always feel like we're leaving out things that would add richness to stories and characters. I'd love to do hour episodes, which is NOT the same as doing two-parters.

6. We work it all out in advance.

7. Occasionally, we go back and adjust little details here and there.

8. Almost everything is on-going. But I hope episode 26 left everyone with an appropriate amount of open-ended closure. Also some things will be addressed in our companion comic-book.

Dear Mr. Weisman,

Thank you for all the wonderful work you've done from Gargoyles, to Spiderman, to Young Justice. Been a fan for years.

1) From your experience, what was more enjoyable to work with? Working on a show that was completely yours to control - Gargoyles - from character development, plot, and storyline? Or Spiderman and Young Justice where the basics has already laid out?

2) Was there more pressure to succeed working on Gargoyles because it was original and the creativity was your to control? Or was there more pressure to work on an adaption on Spiderman and Young Justice because the bar has already been set?

1. They're different. Gargoyles is my baby. But in terms of the actual work, I don't think I had any more or less fun working on SpecSpidey, W.I.T.C.H. or YJ.

Hello Greg! Thanks so much for the great show! It's currently my favorite on tv and solely responsible for getting me back into comics again so DC should give you guys a cut of all those DC comics I buy now. Homefront has been my favorite episode but loved Schooled (for rewatchability) and all the rest too. Anyway a few questions!

1. I think the motorcycle Zatanna rode in Secrets (that was consequently blown up)was Robin's. A. Can you confirm this? B. Did she ask permission? C. Does Robin know it's fate? D. Will this be addressed in the comic or mentioned later? (I thought it would be mentioned in Misplaced, that's why I waited before asking this.)

2.A. Do you guys have any plans to attend New York Comic Con this year? B. If so, will there be a Young Justice panel? (I want to go to one and live on the East Coast so entirely selfish!)

3.A. Do you have any say or input on the type of merchandise that gets put out? B. If we fans have requests or suggestions is there someone/somewhere you can point us? (I want something other than Action figures. A mug, keychains, or a magnet set would be nice...heck! Even t-shirts!)

4. Are Superman and Batman best friends in this universe? (Sorry if this one is already answered, I did go to the archives but only got so far!)

That's all I can think of while I got you! Thanks for your time and great show~! I totally love Robin, Wally, and their bromance and look forward to more with them along with the rest of this great cast I fall more and more in love with! Billy! Zatanna! NUUU!

Oh, also wanted to mention I'd totally throw my excitement behind any podcast, youtube vids, or commentary you happened to do for the episodes!

Thanks again!

2. Was Sportsmaster's getaway driver the Riddler?

1) If you add Wonder Girl to the Young Justice team, why would you add Cassie? In my opinion, it would be like having two Miss Martians' to the team.
2) Don't you think Donna should have a spot on the team instead? She's been benched since about 2008, while Cassie is included in the reboot and all.

"But as I've said to others who already asked the same basic question, I think you're viewing what happened in terms too black and white. I do NOT think that Superman is behaving out of character. He's been violated and is having problems dealing with it, getting his head around it. He's found a rationale in his head to justify his behavior toward Superboy, that for now at least, is working for him. I'm not going to defend his actions, nor will I be unsympathetic to them. It is, by design, a complex problem.

And no real human being has perfect empathy. And Superman is nothing if he's not thoroughly human.

In any case, I doubt I'm going to convince you, so we'll just have to agree to disagree for now. Perhaps, if you stay tuned and see how this thread plays out, you'll appreciate it more. Or perhaps not."

1) Why have Miss Martian and Superboy been trying to keep their relationship a secret? They've kept their displays of affection as private as possible and they switched to private telepathic communication in "Alpha Male" when there were tensions in their relationship that needed to be addressed.

2) Why didn't M'gann tell Wally that she's been seeing Conner? Was it a case of her enjoying the attention he was giving her, or was it because she simply couldn't be bothered to set the record straight? (Either way, she was allowing him to make a fool of himself.)

An Ask Greg Helper responds...

Greg Weisman says:

"I think the main problem that these two have is that M'gann thinks its so obvious that Wally's not in the running that she hasn't bothered to tell him. She assumes he knows. But he's too dense to see the obvious. I'm not blaming her or him. It's just a disconnect . And disconnects are where drama, conflict and, yes, even comedy comes from."

Dear Mr Weisman,
Let me first say that I'm big Young Justice fan. I love the the character development seen in the show. I do have a few questions, though:
1. Will Laura Bailey or Troy Baker be voicing any character in the show?
2. Are Tula and Garth acquainted with Kaldur's mother (you know, seeing how close they were in Atlantis)?
3. I'm itching to ask if we get to see any Mathlete action from Robin/Dick in the show. But since that's probably a spoiler request, you can ignore the point. I just HAD to type it out.
4. Is Iris related to Wally's dad or his mother? Her maiden name name is West, which would mean she's Rudy's sister. However, she and Mary look so ridiculously alike that I had to ask this.
5. Wikipedia says that Logan Grove will be voicing Beast Boy in the show. Can you confirm or deny this?
To conclude, I'd like to thank you for the stellar voice cast you've put together for the show. Props to you, Brandon and Jamie Thomason!

Greg responds...

1. I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with those names.

2. They've met.

3. Okay.

4. I don't see any particular resemblance between Mary and Iris. As you noted, Iris is Rudy's younger sister.

4. Well, he's voicing Garfield Logan. Beyond that, you can do the math.

Before I ask a question I just really wanted to say I really appreciate all the work you and all the other writers, voice actors, animators, etc. have been doing on the show Young Justice. I really loved W.I.T.C.H. when I was little, but by far young justice has been one of the best shows I've seen in years. My comic book knowledge is pretty limited, but I love this show and all the characters in it. Thank you for all the work you've done, the fans of your shows really appreciate it.
I was really sad when young justice went on break, but the new episode Misplaced did not disappoint despite the wait. I only have one question that I had not seen in the unanswered questions or archieves yet, but if I missed it I owe you a thousand apologies.
1. When Billy Batson first switched over to the adult dimension by becoming captain marvel, why did the plane disappear? It seemed slightly bizarre since all the other cars seemed to exist in both dimensions, so I was wondering if there was any specific reason for its disappearance?
Thank you for taking the time to answer all the questions on Ask Greg, and I cant wait to see young justice next week!

Greg responds...

1. The plane only disappeared from Billy/Cap's perspective. From the perspective of Adultworld, it didn't disappear; it was right where it always was, i.e. back in the hangar in Fawcett City.

Harlan Phoenix writes...

What were the creative reasons that lead you to choose to write "Misplaced" personally/

Greg responds...

Oh, a few things.

1. The complexity of it made it challenging for me - which is something I look for - but also would have made it difficult for a freelancer to take on and nail the vision I had in my head. So in a way it saved time to write it myself.

Plus there were a number of specific aspects that interested me, including:

2. The "death" of Zatara and its effect on Zatanna.

3. The advancement of the Wally/Artemis relationship.

4. The fact that the kids on Kidworld were actually handling the crisis better than the adults on Adultworld.

5. The advancement of Billy's storyline.

6. The visual of Batman talking to Aqualad 'directly' despite the fact that the audience knows that Billy/Cap is being used as a go between. I like that arty stuff.

7. The mix of humor, action and tragedy is always fun to write.

8. The fact that Baa Baa Black Sheep, Twinkle Twinkle and ABC have the same tune.

9. I'm fascinated with mob mentalities and demagogs. So, for example, if you've read or seen Castaway's speech to the Quarrymen recruits in "Nightwatch/The Journey" you'll recognize a similar technique in Crusher's rants at STAR LABS here.

10. The timeline: telling a story. Starting over and telling it again from another perspective and then merging it.

11. The dual world idea.

12. And ultimately, not just because it was a classic Young Justice story to adapt, but because it's SUCH a perfect story for a show about teen heroes, I couldn't resist.

There's probably more, but a dozen reasons will do for now.

Dear Greg,
Congrats on the return of Young Justice! And damn, what a return! First off, thank you for adapting the first story of the original YJ! And it was damn good! Thank you, thank you. Now for other things I liked about it, I loved the design on the Riddler, very classy. Also, appearances by Blackbriar, Faust, Wizard, all cool. And Zatara, holy crap that was awesome! Now onto a few random questions;
1-One thing I enjoyed about the original World Without Grown-Ups was the teen ehroes dealing with kids who went crazy. Had you more time in the episode, would you have shown some clips of kids doing stupid stuff?
2-How did you guys approach the deisgn for Riddler? Cause again it was an awesome deisgn.

Greg responds...

1. We did, actually. There's a scene that we even animated where two tweens are joyriding in a speedboat and nearly get themselves killed, but Aqualad saves their bacon. (It's part of the sequence where Superboy saves the toddler from a crashed car and Miss Martian scares off the taggers. But it got cut for time.

2. I give full credit to Phil and Brandon on this. My main role was to walk in and fawn over it after it was done.

We've just seen "Misplaced", and it was absolutely fantastic. I'll admit, I was worried about the "no adults theme", but I think it was a very original take on what some might call an overused trope. It was brilliant, original, and exciting, so kudos to you!

Another thing, congratulations on answering all your Ask Greg questions prior to March 3rd, and good luck with all the rest! Also, congratulations on Young Justice: Legacy! It's great to see Young Justice's success, you and the rest of the cast and crew definitely deserve it! It's a fantastic show.

On to a couple of questions;

1) The credits at the end of the episode appear to be incorrect, and are that of a future one. Would you be able to post the proper credits? I'd love to see who voiced Gordon, as well as Billy Batson.

2) The opening titles have been replaced with a single titlecard reading "Young Justice". Was this a decision made purely by yourself/crew, or did the change come around as a result of the DC Nation programming block?

Thanks very much for creating such a fantastic show, and I hope Cartoon Network has the sense to continue asking you for new seasons, because Young Justice - very honestly - is the best animated television series Cartoon Network has ever had. In fact, it's the only reason I watch CN! Thanks again. :)

Hello, thank you for taking fan questions! I love YJ, you guys are awesome! Anyway, I was wondering if we might see more Wonder Woman? Speaking or not I'd really like to know if she would make another apperence! Thanks! :D

Greg responds...

By now, you've already seen more of her. And she's in the Justice League, so I think it's fairly self-evident that you'll see more of her still.

I have questions about Atlanteans.

1) Do Atlanteans eat their seafood raw? I don't see fires being lit underwater unless they have a special way of cooking food underwater.

2) Do all Atlanteans have a set of gills and a pair of lungs to breathe underwater and above the surface?

3) How was Kaldur's first experience breathing surface air? Did he choke/gasp or did he transition smoothly?

Greg responds...

1. I would think for the most part, raw. But they have means of cooking should they want to. (Hot spring type things.)

2. Most do.

3. I'm sure it was a shock to the system, at least a little.

Now, see, this post was great. THREE questions, all on a similar topic. None previously asked or answered. And no request for a spoiler. Perfect.

Greg ive liked yourself since I was a kid Gargoyles, as a teen Spectacular Spider Man and now with Young Justice. I know you did a lot of stuff in between but those really stick out to me.

Anyway on to the questions and I'm trying to be careful to avoid any spoilers.

1. Youve said before that you have access to every DC character, does this also include Wildstorm characters?
2. Like on land would it be correct to assume that are different kinds of ethnic groups that occupy the population of Atlantis specifically the group that looks most human?
3. What did most Atlanteans evolve from or is magic involved?
4. Icon and Rocket operate on a global scale or are they mostly stick to the US and Dakota?
5. What is the Guardians of the Universe policy for how many GLs are needed for each sector?
6. Between the time of the JSA and the start of the JL were there any other active public superhero groups?
7. On the team right now who is the best hand to hand fighter?
8. Since Kaldur left before he could graduate magic school does that mean that since Zatanna joined the team she is the better magic user?
9. Speaking of Kaldur since he is Aquaman's lad does that mean that if Aquaman retires than Aqualad will become the new Aquaman, but not the new King of Atlantis?
10. What does being Aquaman mean anyway or how much overlap and what are the differences between being king of Atlantis and being Aquaman?
11. Do Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor operate in the same social circles?
12. In this continuity does Luciuos Fox know Batman's secret id?
13. Does Wonder Woman have a secret id?
14. Would it be safe to assume that other than Conner Kent no other hero has used the name Superboy?
15. Artemis grandparents were they good people or were they similar to her parents?
16. Back when the team was in Biyala the Light mentioned they had a new partner does this mean their new partner was joining the group of seven or did it mean they have a new business associate

Greg responds...

Okay, again. TOO MANY QUESTIONS ON ONE POST.

TO THE MODERATORS: Feel free to delete any post that has more than five questions, give or take. I don't want to be anal about this. If a sixth question really is just an extension of question five, than we can be lenient. But the opposite is also true. If folks are cheating by asking a question 1 and then 1a and then 1b and then Ic, etc. so that it only APPEARS that they've asked five questions or fewer than delete.

I hate to do this, but I'm running out of options. As long as people continue to disregard the posted rules and guidelines, the queue will never shrink. And I feel like every time I sort of shrug and let it slide, I'm only making the situation worse. So I'm going to have to be tougher and make the moderators be tougher as well.

Now there are a bunch of really good questions up there, J-GL/Dattaboy, so I hope you repost them again - in three or more posts of REASONABLE LENGTH.

I wish some fans would stop dissing Talia and Catwoman...they are strong independent complex women and Batman is not cup of tea either. He has a history of jerkish behavior and commitment and intimacy issues. In your series he seems more approachable and kinder and I think that makes him even better for anti-heroines like Talia and Selina. And it's not like he has lacked for many so called "good" women. Some of those other women thrown at him are not even workable and therefore that is why we always go back to Talia and Selina. Yeah, I'm rambling but I think Talia and or Selina fit in Batman's world and the fact they have painful pasts make them more able to share and even understand Bruce's painful past. And in any case...it's your show/verse to explore. And I like it. Um, would be nice to see the awesome Damien Wayne debut on YJ.:)

Greg responds...

Well, I'm particularly fond of the Selina Kyle that I grew up with - which may or may not match up with more recent interpretations. Talia interests me too. We'll (eventually) be seeing more of her in the comics. (Beware the "Serpent", I always say.)

Hey Mr. Greg Weisman,

It's me again. I know it's only been a couple of hours since my last posting, but I just watch “Misplaced,” and I got to say what was done to Zatara, and forcing him become Doctor Fate, was very cruel. Who would have thought that the Helmet of Nabu was such a selfish entity, to take Zatanna’s father away from her. So, now that Zatara is Doctor Fate, does that mean we’ll never see him (as Zatara) again? I hope that, somehow, Zatanna will get her father back. Also, do you think the fallout of this Doctor Fate situation will somehow develop into its own story arc within the show? I have a strange feeling that my second question is somehow going to be right.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Greg responds...

Obviously, this is a significant event and won't be forgotten. Beyond that, SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.

Hey Mr. Greg, great fan of your work.

My questions are the following:

1: Is the Guardian like the comics version (ie: A clone)? And is his name Jim Harper?

2: Was Red Tornado's technology unchanged throughout his life?

I've looked at the archives and haven't found anything regarding these questions, as you said, Guardian's been a hero for three years, but htat doesn't mean he couldnt be a clone, and I'm not sure if it's a spoiler, so forgive me if it is.

And thank you for your time.

Greg responds...

1. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.

1a. Yes, his name is Jim Harper.

2. No, he's been upgraded a few times.

Hi Greg! First of all, congratulations on the Young Justice video game! Can't wait for its release! I've just got one question, which I've been wondering about for a while:
1. When you use cultural references in the show (like Wally's Planet of the Apes reference in Alpha Male, or his 'Dumbledore' line in Denial) do you have to ask permission to include them in the script, or do you guys have pretty much free access to all Warner Brothers material?

Great job on the show! Its easily my favourite TV show right now- there's clearly a lot of talent and effort that goes into it, and it really pays off! Keeping my fingers crossed for a season 3!

Greg responds...

1. It depends on HOW we use it. A mention like that is what's known as "de minimus". That's a legal term which basically means it's of little significance. And that's okay. Parody is also okay, though the definition of parody can be tricky. Obviously, a bigger use like our Marvin the Martian visual would have taken permission if not for the fact, that, yes, Young Justice and the Looney Toons characters are all part of the larger WB family.

Does the entire cast of the show get to see the episodes they recorded before they air?

Do they have access to the entire script or only their lines?

Do you make a point of hiding spoilers from them?

Greg responds...

1. No.

2. The whole script.

3. Well... we don't go out of our way to spoil things for them. But we tell them what they need to know, and if it's in the script, they've seen it. We DO go out of our way to tell them NOT to spoil stuff for anyone else.

Hi Greg, I'm a big fan of your work, especially Young Justice and Spectacular Spider-Man. So what is your opinion on the Young Justice Wiki?

Greg responds...

I haven't really had time to explore it much, though I've visited. My only real experience with wikis (other than wikipedia itself) is the Gargoyles Wiki. And the technology seems different on the YJ wiki, so I'm not as adept at navigating it.

Having given all those caveats, however, it seems great! There's a lot of incomplete articles - even in terms of what's already aired and/or been published in the comics - but I assume fans will fill that stuff in as time allows.

Hey Greg, just want to start by saying I freaking love Young Justice, it's probably my favourite show right now trumping even Game of Thrones, and I want to say a great big THANK YOU.

But going to my question: The YJ video game has just been announced, are you taking part in its writing/production in some form? Cause god that would be awesome.

Oh, also, I had the wonderful chance of meeting Crispin Freeman in the summer, seemed like a great guy, he's probably fun to work with.

But yeah, have a good day man, and thank you so much for making the greatest Comic based show in a long long time.

Greg responds...

Brandon and I are both advising on the game.

And Crispin IS a great guy.

Whoops!!! Sorry about that one question about Klarion. I thought I read through the archives and (un)answered questions. I guess I may have skipped over it. I do sincerely apologize about that!!!

Greg responds...

That's okay. It can happen. But for future reference, I truly appreciate the DESIRE to apologize. But in fact, all it really accomplishes is to further bog the queue. So in the the future, I'd recommend living with the error instead of acknowledging it.

In the Phineas and Ferb episode "Exaliferb!",during the "epic monster battle" part there was a gargoyle that kind of like one of your characters, wondering if you saw that and what you think of the show.Mattel's Monster High line has also included a character named Rochelle Goyle, she has big fin ears like some of yours, but she needs a tail. One of the Monster High pets is a gargoyle bulldog named Rockseena that reminded me of Bronx, and it seems like their going with your females eyes glow red rule, but the gargoyle pets still have wings. What do you think of the Monster High dolls?

Greg responds...

I haven't seen any Phineas and Ferb's, though one of my good friends, Greg Guler is the character designer for the show, and I've heard great things. I just haven't had the time.

And I'm even more unfamiliar with Monster High. Sorry.

Wow! First I'd like to say great job with young justice, but I just have one question about episode 19.
1.I read that Klarion is ageless, right? So why is it that when Klarion and the other 4 sorcerers were creating the 2 different dimensions, Klarion went to the "child-only" dimension instead of staying on the adult one?

Greg responds...

ASKED AND ANSWERED.

Since Starro's leg was moved in the adult dimension but not the kid dimension, yet The Light still had it when the worlds merged back together, then does that mean the adult dimension was the "real" world while the kids were sent to a pocket dimension, rather then things just being split? So the airplane is still uncrashed?

Greg responds...

No. It means that whatever was ACTED upon takes precedent over what was not acted upon. So the Helmet of Fate stayed in Roanoke. The piece of the creature stayed with Riddler. And Amber's plane crashed.

Another question:
In issue 12 of the YJ tie-in comics, how was Ra's al Ghul able to persuade Clayface to sleep? Does he have some kind of mind control or hypnotic powers or something like that?

Greg responds...

Pre-programmed failsafe hypnotic suggestion that all of Ra's Shadows are subjected to at the start of their training.

Loving this show so far. Got a few questions

1. If Superman doesn't have super breath on Earth-16 as you've said, then why is he shown using it in issue 2 of the tie-in comics?

Greg responds...

1. That's not one I wrote, so I'd have to look at it, but I'm hoping there's another explanation. Otherwise, we're just going to have to admit it was a mistake.

YJ question:

Let's assume for the sake of argument that the mole, whoever he/she might be, knows he/she is the mole. Why doesn't M'gann read everybody's mind and find the mole? And for that matter, why doesn't J'onn do that?

Greg responds...

We've tried to establish - in this Universe-16 - that telepathy isn't as foolproof as all that. That (a) you can't invade someone's mind without leaving a trace or being detected and (b) it's not hard for anyone trained to foil an attempt at mind reading. Even Bane, who in our universe is still relatively new at facing super-powered opponents was able to thwart Miss Martian.

All this, of course, is moot, however, since the RECENTLY REVEALED MOLE, Red Arrow, had no idea he was the mole.

YJ UPDATE

It's been a bit of a while, so I thought I'd post a production update on Young Justice:

SEASON ONE
101-125 have all aired.
126 airs this coming Saturday and Sunday on Cartoon Network. (Check local listings and cable guides.) It's our big finale. You REALLY don't want to miss it.

SEASON TWO
201-206 are all in the can, and currently scheduled to begin airing one week after our Season One Finale. (Which makes me happy.)
207 - We previewed the music score today and we're mixing it on Thursday. If all goes well, it should be in the can by Tuesday at the latest.
208 - We spotted the music today. And should be in the can one week after 207.
209 comes back from overseas tomorrow for retakes and editing.
210-211 should arrive on the heals of 209. We still need to pick up one actor (who was unavailable at the time of the original recording) for these two shows in ADR, but that'll take about an hour or two for both episodes. It won't cause any delays.
212-216 are all overseas being animated.
217 ships today.
218 is in storyboard revision.
219 is waiting for Brandon and I to give notes on the storyboard.
220 - The board is being cleaned up now for notes.

COMIC BOOK
Issues 0-14 have all hit the stands and are available at stores or on-line.
Issue 15 concludes our Atlantis two-parter hits the stands this week.
Issue 16 is at the printers.
Issue 17 is being pencilled.
Issue 18 is scripted and waiting its turn.
Issue 19 is plotted and is being scripted now.
Issues 20-22 have been pretty much locked down story-wise, i.e. I know exactly what stories we're telling in these issues.
Issues 23 and Beyond - I've already got a fairly clear idea of where we're going and what stories we're going to tell. Not locked in, but I'm pretty clear.
