Do the members of the Light know the identity of each other? As of Targets, at least L-2 and L-3 are aware of each other. If so, they why did they confer together with their faces scrambled in Fireworks?
As of Targets, you didn't know who L-2 and L-3 were - though I assume by now, you have confirmation. Of course, I'm sure at the time, you made an educated guess - based on voice actors and other factors - but the conversation that Lex and Ra's shared hardly guaranteed that they were in the top seven. There are many characters who talk about and/or do some work for the Light, who are not.
But, yes, the members of the Light know who they are. But they're very security conscious.
After watching Denial, I had a question.
1. Kent Nelson states that he hadn't put on the helmet for 65 years, which would mean since 1946. During that time period, 1940-1951, you've stated that the Justice Society operated. From 1941-1945 the JSA expanded to become the All-Star Squadron. So does that mean once the All-Star Squadron returned back to the Justice Society, Kent Nelson retired from being Doctor Fate? Or did he stay on a little while after?
2. At what age did Kent become Doctor Fate?
Thanks.
1. Kent gave up wearing the actual Helmet of Fate, fashioning a half-helmet that does not submerge his personality. Using magic studied and gleaned by osmosis during his years as a tool of Fate, he still pretends for a time to maintain the Doctor Fate identity but is significantly less powerful.
2. 36.
Just a couple quick questions-
1. Was Alan Scott a member of the Justice Society?
2. Was Rose Psychic a member of the JSA?
3. Was Docotr Occult a member of the JSA?
4. And was the Crimson Avenger a member of the JSA?
5. What happened to the Crimson Avenger?
Thanks.
1. Yes.
2. No.
3. No.
4. No.
5. SPOILER REQUEST.
Hey Greg, I'm so glad we're finally getting more Young Justice episodes. I only have one tiny bit of constructive criticism that dovetails into a question. Conner Kent is one of my favorite comic characters, and I love how you've been slowly developing him as he tries to find his purpose. However, he kind of comes of sort of angsty and the teams muscle. In the comics, I'll fully admit Conner became kind of angsty after it was revealed half his DNA came from Luthor, but it has yet to be seen if that is the case on the show. In his early comic appearances, Conner was more fun loving and loved being a hero. I guess I'm trying to say that while I understand Conner's sort of on an emotional journey, it's rather unsettling to see him with such a bleak outlook. Can we expect Superboy to become more mirthful and lose his depressing attitude?
You can expect him to be true to the character that we've developed for THIS series.
I don't know how else to put it. The out-of-the-gate personality of the Superboy from the comics didn't make sense to us given the origin we were giving him in our show. That's not a value judgement; it simply reflects two different approaches to the character. We tried to be true to the core of the character as we saw it. You may not feel we've done justice to him, but we feel pretty good about it.
As the series progresses, he'll grow and develop, and hopefully you'll enjoy how that progresses... here on Earth-16.
I probably should have included this with my last question, but I didn't think of it until now. Anyway, do you know if there are plans to release compilations that would amount to consisting of all of the issues of the Young Justice tie-in comic when it ends?
I don't know.
In Young Justice #8, was Artemis' mother crying over the fact that she thought Artemis felt she needed to hide her history and background?
Crying? No. Unhappy? Yes.
I'm not sure if this will constitute as a spoiler or not, but will be be seeing more of the less seen characters so far, such as Iris or Garth and Tula?
Yes.
as of this writing, the last episodes i've seen were "downtime" and "bereft". these were, in my opinion, the best episodes of the series yet. and i think for it was because there appeared to be less of an emphasis on the characters being teenagers. they were just young superheroes learning to work by themselves or with a much larger group of people. i'll be 34 next month, and i suppose i just don't care about seeing a teenager's POV on anything. i think this is why i gravitate more towards red arrow and aqualad as they seem to be the most mature of the bunch. anyway, keep up the good work. i'm loving the show more and more. and the comic as well. will there be a point where the timelines from both the show and comic catch up?
That's not a priority for me. I'm more interested in telling the stories that interest me, whenever they're set.
If you are against spoilers, then why would you reveal that Black Manta is Aqualad's father? Isn't that spoily?
That was revealed months and months ago in the pages of DC Comics.

I know I'm probably forgetting some folks, and I REALLY apologize! If you send me a reminder, I'll pimp you in another post!
Provided it's answerable without spoiler issues, what was the reason for Miss Martian's ethnicity as a green Martian vs her depiction as a white Martian in the comics?
How much faster barry is than clark?
A lot.
I'm not sure if you've noticed, but we've resisted the temptation with ALL our characters to put them at the upper end of the scale of how some creators have depicted their powers. It's more interesting to us - even for the adult heroes - if they aren't quite so invincible.
On July 24, someone posted on Wikipedia the titles and summaries of episodes 11, 12 and 13. So far, episodes 11 and 12 check out. I can only assume ep 13 does too.
Here's the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_Young_Justice_episodes&diff=prev&oldid=441190172
How do you explain this? How could have access to this information and leak it?
Well, at the time I'm answering this, all three of those episodes have aired, so I'd assume Wikipedia has the correct info by now. If they had it in advance, I have no explanation of how the info leaked.
1. Will there ever be an episode or comic focused primarily on the girls of The Team? 2. Did Nolan's schedule with voicing Penguin for Arkham City interrupt with your Young Justice schedule? 3. You mentioned before that you would like a musical for Gargoyles and would like one for Young Justice. So can you include the Music Meister? It would make sense or is he too cartoony.
1. More or less.
2. Nope.
3. It's been done.
I love the YJ team. I love them. I don't care about all the fanwank, they're perfectly imperfect and they'll grow out of some of it and be even better. I wish they were real.
But if you make one of them evil, we will have words. Yes, you are creator and have last say-so, and if you do it well I won't be as mad, but at least know that THERE WILL BE TEARS, sir. There will be sobbing and angry tumblr posts and more sobbing.
Just so you know.
Oooookaaayyyy...
Hey Greg I would like to ask you some real life focused questions
1-Are you were aware of the brony phenomeon (mlp FIM fans) an if so what is your opinion on it?
2.-what´s your opinion of Lauren Faust's work?
3.-What's your opinion on C.S lewis work.
Thanks for your time and keep th amazing job!
1. No clue here.
2. Ditto.
3. I haven't read it, though I've seen a cartoon and a live-action adaptation of "The Lion, etc." I enjoyed them.
Without spoilers
how would you compare Lex Luthor from earth 16 with David Xanatos?
Lex has less hair.
How old Is Vandal Savage?
Does Ra's or Vandal have any kids?
What made Ra's, Lex, and Vandal go evil?
I know this might be consider a spoiler request but is Vandal Savage a member of the light?
1. About 50K years.
2. See issue #11-12 of our Young Justice companion comic.
3. Who said they're evil?
4. Yes.
In Earth-16, is Dick Grayson an adopted son of Bruce Wayne, or his ward?
I'll admit, I'm not too clear on the difference. (Wow, this session is just totally making me feel all ignorant.)
Not trying to nitpick, but you once answered that the speed force does not exist on earth 16. In the DC universe the speed force has been known to bring speedsters through alternate dimensions. the speed force exists on all alternate earths. How is Earth-16 exempt? where does the flash draw his speed from?
I guess I just don't understand the "Speed-Force" concept.
Where does Superboy "draw his strength from?" Where does Miss Martian "draw her shape-shifting ability from?" Why does Kid Flash or ANY Flash require some external source for speed - as opposed to giving credit to the lab accident that first turned Jay Garrick into the Golden Age Flash, the recreation of that accident under laboratory conditions that granted speed to the current Flash and the nearly-botched attempt to re-recreate the accident that gave Kid Flash his powers?
They're mutates. They were mutated by the experiments/accidents. What more do you need?
In any case, if the Speed-Force does exist, no one on Earth-16 has heard of it or knows anything about it.
I am so glad this opened up!
Okay, so my curious question is: what does Aqualad's diet consist of? In "Downtime" I couldn't quite distinguish what the Altanteans were eating.
Sashimi and seaweed?
Honestly, I don't know.
1) Are you ever going to show how Dick revealed his identity to Wally?
2) If so, will it be in the animated series, the tie-in comic or both?
1. Ever is such a very long time.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Dear Mr. Weisman,
I've been a huge fan of yours for years and just wanted to thank you for supplying or helping to make 1/3 of the cartoons of my childhood. I'm currently following Young Justice and I love it! I do have one question that I couldn't find in the archives though.
I noticed in episode 10 what seemed to be some height inconsistencies with Red Arrow. Cheshire was said to be 5ft 6in tall. But when the two of them were having their stare down in prison, Roy only looked a bit taller than her. Meanwhile, he seemed to be a bit shorter than Lex Luthor as well. In my animation classes, my professor mentioned a tendency for teenage characters to be drawn slightly shorter than adults, to make them easier to distinguish. Is that what happened here, or was it just animation error/camera trick?
I know in a previous post you said that he was the tallest of the teens, with Aqualad in second, but I was hoping that you could tell me their actual heights (and the rest of The Team's), or at least your best guess.
Thank you for your time and good luck with the rest of the season.
We have height charts for all our characters and those charts are sent overseas to our animators for reference. I won't deny that animation errors take place sometimes, but none that I noticed in 'Targets'.
I can't tell you their actual heights. We don't put that information on the charts. I can only tell you how tall they are relative to each other.
First let me say, I really enjoy the series!! I think the animation and the storytelling is outstanding!! I'd also like to say, i love all the members of the team!! I hope you don't change the members of the team, love them!! My questions are about Miss martian powers. What are the limit of her telekinesis? I was surprised in Bereft when she said, she can't use her telekinesis to lift Aqualad back to the ship.
I'm still wondering what happened between miss martian and superboy in downtime?? i mean, after she covered him in food and they were standing there staring at each other! His behavior has completely changed toward her. Did she use her telepathy abiilites to mind link with him to let him know how she feels about him???
I do like how you are developing their romance!! I think it would be very interesting to see how they deal with being heroes and also dealing with their feelings for each other. I hope they get together, they make a nice couple! I wasn't asking for a spoiler, just making a comment on their relationship.
1. She didn't mean she couldn't do it from a capability standpoint. She meant she needed to rescue Superboy.
2. No.
First I'd like to say you guys have put together a pretty awesome show. That keeps me coming back for each new episode.
Now the questions
1, What made the characters featured in this show(The Team)stand out to you; what made you decide to choose them?
2, How does everyone else in the Team perceive the growing feelings between Superboy and M'gann, most especially Wally because he continues his attempts (which I find hilarious)at flirting with M'gann?
3, How would you feel if one of your shows were to be made into live-action films? Have/Do you ever consider what real-life actors might portray your characters?
4, Do you already know how you want Young Justice to end, or is there no definite endgame planned? Do you normally have an endgame in mind for the shows you work on or do you like to let the story progress to see where it goes?
1. ASKED AND ANSWERED. Please check the archives.
2. I think Wally is blissfully ignorant at this point. Keep watching.
3. It'd be pretty cool, at least in theory.
3b. Sure, sometimes.
4. We have "endgames" for each season, but as usual, I could keep working on this project indefinitely. Of course, it's not up to me.
I have a couple questions about Mr. Roy Harper.
1. Why does Roy usually use an old-fashion bow when he owns and is capable of using a compound? As I understand compound bows are easier to use and are better for accuracy.
2. Are you aware of the similarity between his and Ultimate Hawkeye's design?
1. Personal preference?
2. Nope.
What prompted you to have the four original sidekicks pair off as Robin+KF and Speedy+Aqualad? In comics canon, KF and Speedy were switched (as far as I know). Did it develop from their personalities, or did you decide who'd pair off first?
From ages and personalities.
If a video game for Young Justice were to be made, how much would you be involved? Also, would the game have the timestamps from the show and comics in it?
I'd hope to be very involved. And obviously, we'd like any game to have as much in common with the show as possible.
How long can martians live?
About three hundred Earth years, more or less.
Hi Mr.Greg,
In Young Justice, I'd like to know if Hawkman and Hawkwoman are the Thanagarian Version (Katar Hol and Shayera Thal).
Thanks
In a word, yes.
Who are the directors on Season 2 of Young Justice? The directing on Season 1 has been phenomenal (not to mention the writing, acting, etc.) and it would be super sweet to see those guys continue. Though I'm sure any new fresh faces would be just as awesome!
Thanks for all the great work!
Jay, Michael and our guest directors were all great in Season One, but both Jay and Michael moved on, and the guest director thing made life a bit tough, constantly getting new folks up to speed. So we have a permanent set of three directors for Season Two - Tim Divar, Doug Murphy and Mel Zwyer - and Brandon and I are thrilled with how great all three are doing.
In the 60's, Robin had his catchphrases. Is that what inspired his wordplay in the show?
Maybe in part.

Time for an update, don't you think:
SEASON ONE
101-115 have aired.
116-125 are all in the can, ready to air.
126 is in post-production.
SEASON TWO
201-206 are being animated in Korea.
207-209 are recorded and are in storyboard and design.
210-211 are partially recorded and are in storyboard and design.
212 has a first draft script waiting for notes.
213 has an outline approved waiting for me to script.
214 has an outline that I should finish editing tonight.
215 has an outline waiting for me to read and edit.
216-220 are all in outline based on approved beatsheets.
COMIC BOOK
0-9 have all been on sale.
10 is shipped.
11 is being penciled.
12 is being penciled.
13 is scripted.
14 is in script.
15 has been plotted.
Now that DC comics have relaunched and the status quo has changed for important characters like Superman does it make it easier for YJ to be more creative and original ie not following the same routine path we always see DC take? Will YJ reflect any of the changes?
Everything we've planned was planned and pretty much set in the deadline equivalent of stone before DC announced or informed us of their plans. So you won't see it reflected in our series. This is simply a fact of life due to our deadlines on YJ.
1) How important is it for the plot to keep the identity of the Light members a secret? And what lengths do you go to to enforce it? I mean, when you put a dome-shaped figure speaking with a thick French accent, you are just begging for it... :)
2) Is the mystery of their identities something conceived specifically for the less comic-savvy target demographics?
3) Is the anonymity of each member equally important as of the rest, or are some more important to the plot than others?
I must say that I quite enjoy this trope. It's quite exiting. But it's been only 10 episodes, and fans have figured out 6 out of 7 members of the group. (Personally I had guessed 5 -- good job with L-3. I didn't see it coming, somehow. Mark Rolston's cadence in "Targets" was different from "Fireworks," which totally blindsided me).
1. We wanted to play fair and offer hints without being definitive - until episode 114.
2. Both, I guess.
3. Nope.
Did Bruce Wayne ever found out who killed his parents?
Joe Chill.
What is Bruce Wayne pubklic reputation on Earth 16 do most consider him a rich idiot with no day job, a serious business man or somewhere in between?
He's a serious business man, who has a reputation for working hard AND playing hard. Not many think he's an idiot, but many would consider him a playboy, by the old school definition of the term.
1.Does Aqualad go to school?
2.How Does Superboy feel about Superman?
3.How come the teenage superheroes aren't going to be calling there team Young Justice?
1. Not anymore.
2. It's complicated.
3. It never occurred to them. Guess they haven't read the comics.
How closely do you stick to the covert ops concept for each episode? I noticed that even when it's not a direct mission from Batman, there is still an element of going undercover.
We strive for that.
1. Is Kid Flash an atheist?
2. Is there a Catwoman on Earth 16?
1. I guess he thought he was.
2. NO COMMENT.
Were there any sidekick during the 40's?
Yes.
1. Where does Roy live?
2. Can Atlanteans breathe in chlorinated pools?
Thanks!
1. Star City, mostly.
2. Good question. I don't know. Any biologist out there want to take a stab at this?
1.) What does GBS stand for?
2.) This question is in regard to your last update. What exactly are beatsheets? Also, are you going to also post updates for the comic from now on?
1. Galaxy Broadcasting System.
2a. A beatsheet breaks an episode down by its basic beats, but in a very rough non-prose format, useful as an internal document only.
2b. Yes.
First, I wanted to thank you for all the hard work put forth on Young Justice. The show is an absolute delight to watch and this may sound silly -- but it is very meaningful to see passionate creators doing what they love. The experience of storytelling helps people cope with their lives and the stories on Young Justice are some of the best!
All that said, I'd love to see Young Justice go on as long as possible. I see that it's been renewed up to 46 episodes -- awesome! If there were further orders, would they continue to be in 10-episode increments? Is that a new standard as opposed to 13 or 26?
Thanks again to you and everyone working on YJ! Keep up the phenomenal work.
I really don't know. It's a decision made way over my head.
1.How much weight can Superboy lift?
2.Is there going to be an episode that focuses on the relationship between Superboy and Miss Martian?
3.Are we going to see Miss Martians room in the cave?
1. I'm not interested in quantifying these kind of things.
2. It's an on-going subplot.
3. Yes.
1. Does Chris Kent from Countdown still exist on Earth 16 or did he and old Earth 16 were destroyed in Final Crisis and Earth 16 was reborn as the Young Justice Cartoon?
2. Does the DCAU exist as part of the multiverse on Earth 12?
1. I don't know who Chris Kent is... but I'm thinking your latter option sounds good.
2. Don't know. I only really have jurisdiction over Earth-16. Beyond that, you'll have to ask DC.
1. Has the Joker killed anybody yet?
2. Are there any other super power drugs besides venom for example does velocity 9 exist on Earth 16?
3. Will there be any gay or bisexual characters in young justice?
4. Are all the good guys in young justice besides the married ones virgins?
5. Does General Lane hates Superman on Earth 16?
6. Why did ya'll make Cat Grant less vixen like?
7. Has Lex ever lived or visited Smallville?
8. Was Lex born into his money?
1. Yes.
2. NO COMMENT.
3. Undoubtedly.
4. Now, you're just trying to get me in trouble.
5. NO COMMENT.
6. Who says we did? Do you expect her to be "vixen like" ON THE AIR?
7. NO COMMENT.
8. NO COMMENT.
Hi Greg-- just a couple brief items. I wanted to comment that I think you and your team are doing an exceptional job with the Young Justice comic book which I don't think is getting the appreciation it deserves. It not only fills in a lot of character gaps that there is not time to get into on the show but it works around all of the plots/arcs of the show without spoiling or repeating them. The most amazing thing is if you only watch the show or only read the comic, neither experience is ruined as they both present themselves in a self-contained manner while also being a constant, evolving continuation. That is a fine balancing act that is not easy to pull off but as someone who both watches the show and reads the comic, the full experience of both really has brought this property to life and I am very glad it is going to be around for awhile. Without a solid DC show since Justice League ended and the Gargoyle property on hiatus, it is very exciting to have your working on a project that brings all of the elements that made Gargoyle's so special to the DC Universe. Thank you to you and your team for all the hard work-- please keep it up!!
Two quick questions:
1) Can you please get back in the habit of posting the credits for each episode after they air since it appears Cartoon Network is still going to split screen them into oblivion? I really enjoy seeing who does all of the voice work on the show.
2) Speaking of that, any possibility over the course of the this season and the next that Keith David will be tapped to play any kind of role on the show?
THanks for the kind words about the comic. That's exactly what we're attempting to do with it.
1. I never got out of the habit. I've been posting credits as soon after a new episode airs as I can possibly find the time.
2. NO COMMENT.
Hey!
First of all, I LOVE YOUNG JUSTICE! I think that it is really great, and I'm so glad that new episodes are coming :)
I just have a few questions:
1) Is Hawkwoman supposed to be Hawkgirl? If so, why do you call her "Hawkwoman"?
2) If Wonder Girl were on come onto the show, would you use Donna Troy or Cassie?
3) I know on YouTube there are a lot of fanmade videos of Young Justice. Have you seen any? If you have, do you like them?
Thank you for your time and keep up the good work :)\
Laurel:)
1. Hawkwoman is Hawkwoman. That's why we call her Hawkwoman. There is no Hawkgirl on Earth-16.
2. NO COMMENT.
3. I haven't.
