When exactly did M'gann and Conner start using telepathy as their main way of talking to each other? By season 3, it’s become their main source of communication, but when did that start happening exactly? Obviously after they got back together, but why did they start doing it? Or had they started talking more through telepathy prior to their break up?

I think they started in Season One, actually, when they were hiding their relationship from the rest of the Team. And it gradually increased over time. I don't think there was a MOMENT when it began.

I don't think it's forced or boring. But your mileage may vary.
(And no spoilers for the future, but I will say that literally nothing about your post makes me want to change course. If anything, it makes me want to do the opposite of what you're requesting.)

Robin/Tim Drake joined the Outsiders sometime between September and November of Team Year Nine. The other four joined in December of Team Year Nine.
