Greg Bishansky>Um...WHAT IN THE HELL HAVE YOU BIN SMOKEING "P".

Wha... What in all of hell are you talking about...

Now don't even say a word, Dragon Ball Z is NOT "Dragon Ball". Now that was crapy. The 1st show was Dragon Ball & that was the crappist show ever until Dragon Ball "Z" witch is a brake threw in hand drawn & computer tech ever conseved of by man "EVER". Look at the detail in the people & energy of Ki thay generate, Gundam wing is crap compared to Dragon Ball Z. The detail in their musclar bodys is insane, the destruction & power thay make is asome. No way anything can beat it "NOTHING" "EVER"... Big Mechs fighting is cool but people fighting with the power that destroy worlds is freakin over the top!

Copy me will you well I'm sorry but witch shows did you see, you don't even sound like you even watched a saga of it... The show is long in its beauty & detail of fighting.
Long battles are better than some weak ass battle in Outlaw Star that lasts only 5 minutes at the very end. The rest of it is all talk & no play. Now I don't like to be bord out of my mind so I like a half talk half, fighting show that is cool... That is DBZ & Gargoyles. So their...

Battle Beast>Thank you! Atleast somebody likes Dragon Ball "Z" But yea the battles are long & complex but its better than any fighting anima on earth.

To anybody else...

If you think DBZ sucks than you suck too & stuff...

I don't see the logic in anybody that says DBZ dose not look good... I seen all of the shows & know whats good & whats not of most anime!

Even Gargoyles has it's drawing limits & DBZ has the freakin detail in every strand of hair & the muscles on their bodys & that took a lot of freakin time to draw.

I draw Garg stuff & DBZ stuff... So let me tell you it takes 30 minutes to make a good garg drawing & for a DBZ drawing it takes 1 1/2 hours or so to make a quality DBZ drawing & thay use computers to enhance the drawing too & I never seen that before at the level that is DBZ... No anime has ever bin created at that detail only for DBZ & DBGT, so no one can convince me that any other type of anime is better then DBZ in looks so I'm done...

No comment ferther than this can push me to the limit of insanity like this one has... People the next time you watch DBZ make sure it's the Boo saga because thats the best looking saga & also put your glasses on, you'll never see that kind of detail in any other show in a long time. It took 15 years to make the 290 or so episodes of DBZ so look at the later episodes, than GT witch looks better but the fights are weaker so DBZ has the most action of all. & don't even put DB in it because it was made in the 70's like every other crapy Voltron show & anime that ever was made. DBZ was made in the 80's & 90's but was the big leap of all anime like what you see today...

Now I like most anime so don't get me wrong but Gargoyles DBZ are my fav for all time...

(I'm sorry but I had to put this post up to express myself for my love of good looking anime so don't get all bent out of shape on my part, OK! NO HARD FEELINGS PLEASE!

& thats all your getting out of me! Geeze...

Weee awesome answers..

are there any realistic gifts you could get right now?

(aka merchandise, shakespearian books, or just something obtainable. O.o;;)

(Not that the DVD and episodes coming out aren't good ideas etc. Just not exactly what I'm looking for. ^_^;;;))

I dunno. I liked DBZ, but the thing that bothered my about it was that one story line took 150+ episodes.

I mena, in one episode we have announced or shown that character #1 is comming to help fight. Or another character is going to launch a powerful bomb. OK. fine. That doesn't happen for another 20 episodes.

Another was that at the end of each episode, they would say what would happen in the NEXT episode.

Ex) Ep #1 "In the next episode, Joe fights doe."

That wouldn't happen untill the last minute of Ep #2, and would get going in Ep#3.

ANYWAY, I still liked the show.

another anime I like was Sabre Rider (does anyone remember that one?)

That's is all I will say.

Siren> "News they are either bringing back the show, making the live action movie, or both."

I agree. That would definitely be the best present anyone could give to a Gargoyles fan. That, and an all expenses paid trip to the Gathering would be great too! (and don't forget to throw in a dictionary for French-English). ;)

DBZ> *cold shudder* You could skip a month of that show, come back, and not miss a thing.

BROOKLYN X - Um... you think Dragonball Z looks good? I'm sorry, but that is some of the crappiest animation I've ever seen come out of Japan. With a crappy story going along with... or perhaps I should say, no story going with it.

Okay, here is the plot of Dragonbal Z..... "Fight, Fight, Fight, You get stronger, Fight, Fight, Fight, They Get Stronger, Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight, You get much stronger, Fight, Fight, Fight, You win."

You want good anime, some of the ones you listed, Rurouni Kenshin, Outlaw Star, Trigun and Gundam Wing are good. Cowboy Bebop, Berserk and Inu Yasha are really good. And I've heard great things about Slayers and Neon Genesis Evangalion.

"Dragon Ball Z can't be beatin because it was in time magizne
for the best action fighting anime "ever"!"
I love Time Magazine too, but just because they say this does not make it true. It's made a lot of money, yes. But that doesn't make it good. Power Rangers made more money than "Gargoyles" did and look at the pile of crap that is.

Wha... "Justice League" & "Batman Beyond". Some of most sucky cartoons on earth... I'm sorry but I hafe to say that because I've seen most of the shows & think they suck comeparing Dragon Dall Z, Hack, Zoids all 3 of the shows, Ronie Kention, Blue Gender, Trigun, Outlaw Star, Gundum Wing, Dragon Ball GT, & The YU YU HACKA SHOW (Yada, yada, yada)... Are much better than that cheap cartoon crap that is Justice League & is Batman Beyond! Thay look like a 5th grader drew tham compared to DBZ.

Dragon Ball Z can't be beatin because it was in time magizne
for the best action fighting anime "ever"!

Gargoyles is as Good in simmilar ways too...

These 2 are the best on the planet of all so...

& by the way DBZ & Gargs just look so freakin good too, much better then any other.

Thats all your getting out of me!

Actually, I've seen atleast some of the Mr. Roger's episodes with Keith David. He was never a puppet (to my knowledge). As far as I know he was just one of those random friends/neighbors in the neighborhood of make-believe. In one of the episodes they were having a violin festival or something like that and he and (I think) someone else (maybe Daniel striped tiger??) put on this weird little puppet show with these two violin brothers. Still, it was cool to see him on Mr. Rogers.:)

Howdy folks.

What Garg merchandise would I want for Christmas? Hmm...I'd like Disney to announce that the Gargoyle DVD will be available for preorder from the Disney store with a series of lithographs. I can even mention a few scenes I'd want included. I have one such "must-have" scene linked to this post. (if I did the link correctly)

I just realized that my pic folder I put the gargoyles screenshots in is getting overloaded. I currently have 149 shots and still have half the series left to convert to dvd. If I can figure out how to do it, I may start putting slide-shows on my discs.

Well, I think I've misplaced an episode I need for the 11th dvd. It aired this past week on TD, but I missed it. now I gotta wait to get it. I think I'll skip that disc and do the rest while I wait.

re: Justice League> "now you sound like Yoda"
actually it wasn't Despero's line but Green Lantern's.
I was surprised to hear Keith David's voice, when I watched the english version on Cartoon Network. The french version isn't bad, but I so prefer the original!

Also, according to Comics Continuum, next season we'll see Oliver "Green Arrow" Green and Black Canary. too bad that Batman Beyond already established that Batgirl wasn't crippled, or we would have had a cool version of the Birds of Prey in the JL! I wonder if they'll introduce some characters like Savant, Lady Shiva.
And speaking of new character, would we see some character for the Wildstorm part of the DCverse like the Midnighter, or even cooler, the Wetworks team?
I know, I know, I'm dreaming, but hey, a guy can hope, can't he?

Seems that Witchblade Animated might get to see the day, too. With a Dini-esque design to boot, just like in the one shot comic book. So? who do you think would do Prudence's (aka the Magdalena's) voice? and Jackie Estacado's? Sara Pezzini's voice is obvious: Yancy Butler, as well as Ian Notthingham's (Eric Etibari) and Kenneth Irons' (Anthony Cistero)
what's your casting call, guys?

Sorry, But I have something to add...

I just was looking up Keith David on IMDB and I found out that he played himself on "Mister Rogers Neighbourhood" in 1985.

What the heck could he be doing on that show? Hopefully not speaking for a puppet or something like eh?

That is all i will say.

Keith David was on "Justice League" agian today (Part II).

He again played 'Despro,' a purple skinned being with three eyes bent on universal domination, but ends up thwarted by the Green Lanterns.

I also thought I heared another Gargoyles voice but I couldn't place it.

Some funny lines, including:

Despro: "Relearn what I have leanred? Your starting to sound like Yoda."

Despro to Hawk Girl: "Wings make one look dignified. I wish I had wings though I feel like I always have..."

Great ep. I must admit that I like this "Justice League" show. I think I'll try to catch it again next week. I've never really been a fan of the "D.C. Universe," although I did like the first three batman movies, and of course the original 60s series, and I do like Superman 1 & 2.

That is all I will day.

Hey, don't blame me, blame the NET! "The force that allways wants the good but makes the bad." ;)
However, if I would have warned anyone it wouldn't be half that much fun... ;)

PRESENT: Yeah, the release of the real action film would be cool... but then again, what would it feel like when we hear that Ben Afflek would play Goliath, JLO Elisa and the whole would be directed by McG??
As said earlier: Let's stik to a re-release first... ;) Maybe an animated movie??? Animation has leaped forward a lot, mostly in japan! Take a look at Studio Gibli (Sprited Away, Princess mononoke), Oshiis films (Ghost in the Shell, Avalon, Jin-Roh) or all the animated series like "X" and "Hellsing"!!! Fabulous stuff, especially Hellsing!

However, anyone noticed it is getting crowdy in here??? :)

I don't see the need for Disney to release Cheapquels.
Literally, they're sitting on lots of material that hasn't been released at all or hasn't been released on DVD. All they would have to do is a steady stream of releases while watching to make sure they don't over-saturate the market. Correct me if I'm wrong, but most of these 'cheap quels' would have the same market as releasing their old stuff. The big difference is no new cost would be involved. The catch would be not releasing too much old stuff at the same time. Hypothetically, DVD releases of old stuff could probably be preplanned for years to come.

Side note: After watching Altantis: Milo's return, the first two parts felt like a nice conhesive story, but the third part felt like an independent adventure.

Siren - <The built in audience is usually children when it comes to Disney films. Look at The Land Before Time series, it is what, in it's 11th film?> I stop keeping count after #5.

I have to admit I don't like looking at the questions being submitted page of Ask Greg.

**Not intended to be actually done**
Hypothetically, a nice Christmas present would be somebody hacking into the Ask Greg System and removing los of the previously answered questions AND conviently nobody comes forward with an old copy of Ask Greg before it was hacked.
**Not intended to be actually done**

On a possibly realistic hand, it would be nice for a new Ask Greg system to be revealed over Christmas holidays.

For Siryn ?'s I think I would like to get an orignal copt of the drawings of the very first ep. and some names OF the people that worked on it, couldn't hurt.

And for Sequals keep making I say, The way I see it, all the sequals give beginer drawers an open door to show what they got. 99.7 % of them I wouldn't bother watching due to the previews that were crapy, but thats just me.

Wingless>That looks eerily like the gargoyle from Disney Quest. If I think of it, maybe I'll scan my t-shirt with it on or the sticker. If you click my name, (and it should work), that's a pin from Disney Quest featuring the gargoyle. It's more in it's stone cameo though. But I will keep looking.

notice the 3 fingers-which definately reflect on our disney gargs. That leads me to believe that there was some truth to the story that this was a prototype figure. Wouldn't you just love to have this in your living room(I know I would). Also notice the very large(detachable) wings. I waaaaant it. ^_^

Boba Fett>Not that I like many sequels, I doubt people will stop buying Disney movies all together, even their sequels. The built in audience is usually children when it comes to Disney films. Look at The Land Before Time series, it is what, in it's 11th film? Not counting the sing along. Gawd, I can't stand them, but you know what, I buy them. I have a 5 year old daughter who LOVES them. And so long as children are asking, parents will be paying, and the production companies will keep making. Yeah, they suck and annoy me. But I have seen them all, they are not harmful in anyway, and they keep her busy for at least a hour so I can cook dinner, clean etc. That's how parents see it. As a fan of the original Don Bluth's Land Before Time, I am disappointed in how Universal has made the films, but they could be much worse.

Wingless>The way you describe the figure, I wonder if it was from Gargoyles. Unless you know for sure they made them for the series or live action movie, it sounds like it may be the prototype for Disney Quest. Disney Quest is a virtual theme park. They have one here in Orlando, think there is one in Cali and another in Chicago. Their logo featured a very Goliath-looking gargoyle, yet drawn more in the art of Spawn. About the only thing different was the eye color. It's eyes glowed green. Otherwise it was a lilac skinned, long black haired gargoyle.

Siryn: in answer to your question. the only piece of garg merchandise I'd still want to have is the ultimate one. It was a prototype garg statue of Goliath that was sold on ebay about a year or so ago. Apparently it was part of a line of real looking figures based on movies & such that one toy company was doing. Statue didn't look much like the animated goliath, but more realistic, maybe one that the movie Goliath would have looked like if they'd made the movie. it was gorgious statue. Think it went for close to 500 bucks on ebay. The info said there were only 3 made(if i remember correctly) Think Raptor Woman won it, but i'm not sure. I saved the pictures they had on ebay for it, i liked it that much.

I think i have all the other garg merchandise I could want...other than maybe some Gargs animation cels.

Hi all.
Finally managed to catch Walkabout on Toon Disney today. Any of my fellow Brits happen to know if they've shown Shadows of the Past? I always seem to miss the transition from the earlier season 2 eps - world tour. Its the only (Avalon) one i haven't seen back on air yet.

It's been wet & miserable out since i left for work @ 7 this morning, and sounds like it'll be gale force by tonight.
Though the ability to wear sandals in December sounds wonderful - could do with some of that sunshine.

meep.

Now I see why lurking fish told me to read up in here; I'm not a consistent poster in this comment room, and was worried that if I came back while the topic was still up, I'd wind up griping about it more, so I cleared off for a bit.

This was, to understate it, a little more than I was expecting…

Let me start by saying I *had* thought that I'd kept any original ideas from getting in; obviously I wasn't careful enough. I'm sorry for that, and not just because it meant the deletion of the post. At the time I wrote it, a long set of single-question posts had just been responded to, most of them fairly inane, and all I could think of was "put it all together to keep from flooding the queue."

And as for exacerbating the situation, well, yeah, certainly nothing said was much help…that's why I decided to step off on the subject and leave the room alone until the room cleared, and hopefully, the subject dropped to a point that I wouldn't feel the need to comment again. It had been made clear that the current system gives no room for post alteration, and thus moot for me to whine further about it.

I'll admit I may have overdone it a little on the anger in my posts, which I could blame on the recent stress of what I've had to do to prep for this semester's final critiques, but I won't. It was just lack of control; I had frustrations built up, and this was a convenient thing to vent on. I could have handled it better, and yeah, I'll apologize for that. I'll try in the future to keep it aimed on things that deserve it more, like Britney Spears.

I'd also like to add my stunned appreciation to Greg Weisman for being willing to take extra effort in calming the situation down. The fandom as a whole already owes you so much, not just for giving us the show, but for sticking around and being such a good sport with Ask Greg and the conventions. You rock.

And now that I'm not pulling 14-hour, "get home at 5:30 in the morning or later" studio nights, I'll dig up and forward what started this all to Todd, who I'd also like to thank for having to put up with things like this.
And the room in general for the same reason.

DPH - Yes, I'm looking forward to what Greg has to say about my ramble - particularly my remark about how Thailog has come to remind me as much of Mordred in the Arthurian legend (particularly the way that he was portrayed in T. H. White's "The Once and Future King") as well as Edmund in "King Lear" (I still remember fondly Greg's response to my asking him about that after he mentioned that Edmund was his favorite character in Shakespeare's plays).

Hmm. I noticed that Todd's ramble on "Double Jeopardy" is coming up (if it's a ramble for a different story, I'll stand corrected). About how many questions are in front of it waiting to be answered before that rambles comes up? I didn't stop to count because I noticed more good stuff coming after it.

CKayote> The problem with cheap-quels is that while they're quick moneymakers with lower budgets and a built-in audience, they run the risk of undermining the brand name. A brand name only goes so far, and eventually customers get wise. They might stop buying Disney videos all together.

Gargoyles DVD... I don't think it'll be too expensive, animation DVDs usually go for around $30(Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, etc.), it's the one hour shows with more disks that are the ones that cost more. But with Disney releasing it, who knows how much they'll charge.

I just tried to post a lengthy post, but it crashed on me. So's here the summary/recap/bullets/etc.

Eisner has been running Disney since 84. So he's responsible for lots of Disney's good stuff to: Lion King, Aladdin, GARGOYLES.

Disney's Problem= Less $$$ coming in.
Becaue of: Bad economy + parks attendance down since 9/11 + ABC sucks.

The solution is what people seem to have a problem with.
Cheap-quels and cost cutting aren't working, and Eisner hasn't the writing on the wall yet.
---------------------------------------------
I plan to preorder the DVD. I just hope it isn't 80 bucks ($54.95 at WalMart) like so many of those 'Complete 1st Season' DVDs.

I know I plan to buy two or four copies one the DAY it comes out. That is truely the ONLY day Disney looks at sales stats for. If an Item (like the snow white DVD which sold 1 mill copies in the first hour) sells BIG on day one, they get interested.

That is all i will say.

Gargoyles still has a chance to be brought back to life. I am too much of a true fan to give up on Gargoyles even after Disney gives up on it now. First of all, they are releasing Awakenings to DVD. And Greg said, depending on how it sells, they may release most or all of the series to DVD. It's the big fad these days, to release entire series to DVD. They make buco bucks on it. Go to any Best Buy's "Boxed Set" area and you will see series older then any of us to brand new series on DVD. Even a series like Firefly (Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy's other series) made it to DVD and that show did horribly in ratings and critic reviews. If a "bad" show (by critic and numbers) can make it to DVD, then why not a show with high reviews and a very large fan base? Not to mention, it's Gargoyles. What is out in theaters and DVD mostly lately but fantasy AND superheros. X2 and LOTR are big sellers. Gargoyles ties fantasy and superheros together so flawlessly. It's only natural it could do well. And perhaps if the first DVD sells well, and then the rest of the set, Disney may dust off the Gargoyles live action movie off before the great fad of fantasy and superheros dies. Afterall, look at the history. Superman movies did well, but then it was pretty quiet in the movies with superheros, they just didn't do AS WELL, then came Batman, after Batman and Robin, the fad went into a coma again. Then came X-Men, Spiderman, Hulk, and Daredevil. All blockbusters. X2 and I am sure Spiderman2 did(will do) well. Elektra and Catwoman are going to have their own movies. Disney right now is sitting on their hands with Gargoyles. Disney is pretty much out of the picture with a superhero movie. They really haven't got on (save perhaps Pixar's Incredibles). I do hope if they plan to make Gargoyles, they do it within at least the next 6 years, but we have years ahead of us that they can still do it. It took this long to bring Lord of the Rings to live action. Hopefully Gargoyles is done within OUR lifetimes though and I do hope soon. Gargoyles is afterall an original storyline. Disney has a hard time coming up with those and they got one right there. I think they will eventually do it. Technology wise, it can be done. Look at Golem. Though I do hope all the Gargoyles are not CGI 100% (look what they did to the Hulk). Special effects and make up effects artists like Stan Winston and Rick Baker would be perfect for the job. Whoever did Nightcrawler's make-up as well. It can be done. And it probably will be done.
But for me, once the DVD comes out, I plan to buy a few copies just to add to the numbers. One copy to watch, one to keep in it's package, and a few others for gifts for family members and friends. The more DVDs they sell, the more likely we may see new and more Gargoyles yet. ;-)

In the interest of clarity and at the risk of further beating this poor dead horse....

The ASK GREG related incident that occured last week was all my fault and I apologize for it. Sincerely.

Todd is reconsidering his resignation, but has agreed in the meantime to facilitate getting Lynati's legitimate questions answered on a fast track.

ASK GREG will continue to stumble along for the time being. Todd has cleared a number of questions, so I won't be running out anytime soon.

Again, for clarity, this is how ASK GREG currently works:

Questions, comments, etc. are posted. Todd has one chance -- and only one chance -- to clear or delete each post. Here are the GUIDELINES I've asked him to follow (reprinted from ASK GREG):

1. Please do not submit any original ideas, notions, concepts, or drawings of original characters. No stories, no fanfic, no teleplays, nothing.

2. No original ideas masquerading as questions. Asking me what Demona did during World War II is fine. Asking me if Demona tried to assassinate Hitler during World War II is an idea masquerading as a question and is not all right. I'm sure you can all see the distinction. [But sometimes we have to look closely to notice the distinction.]

3. No requests for employment. If you want to ask generally about how one might break into the business, I'll try to give my perspective, but this is not an appropriate forum for personal pleas for work.

I've asked Todd not to edit your questions. If he even suspects that a posting violates one of the three above guidelines, I've asked him to kick out the entire
posting. That means if you ask ten legit questions and toss in one notion of your own, the whole message gets kicked.

----

After Todd passes the posts through to me, I see them one at a time. I also have one opportunity to delete any post that breaks one of the three above listed rules. But I cannot delete partial posts. Again, it's all or nothing.

And I will delete when necessary -- and (in the future) without warning or apology.

This is the system that we have. It is flawed. We all know that. Todd and Gore and I have discussed a number of improvements that we'd like to implement eventually.

But this is the system we have for now. And it WILL NOT AND CANNOT CHANGE until Gore is ready to make those changes.

Period.

Asking Todd to change the system, even assuming he stays on, is pointless. He can't. Period. And anyone who might potentially take his place, should he find it necessary to go through with his resignation, would be in the exact same bind as Todd is.

You could, I suppose, ask me to change my guidelines for deletion, but I'm disinclined to do that until Gore can make wholesale changes to the way the site is run.

Now, I don't think that Gore often stops by the comment room, but if you want to e-mail him directly with suggestions or pleas or offers to help, be my guest. Free country. I just hope that you'd use a VERY respectful tone. Cuz ASK GREG is here at his discretion and if he decides it's more trouble than it is worth, I will not fight him for one minute.

I am sorry this happened. I take full responsibility. But I'm hoping we can now all put it behind us.

The only 'Gargoyles like' episode that never aired was an episode for the defunt 'Atlantis' series. It had Demona, and one of the hunter's ancestors in it. The episode went as far as having the voices recorded for it.

But as far as Gargoyles the series goes, although several spinoffs were proposed, none made it past an animated Reel stage.

Honestly, the _ONLY_ way to get gargoyles back on the air is to show support, ONE way of doing this is going to the Gathering of the Gargoyles, which is the annual gargoyles convention. Last year the attendees got to see Original production artwork (on loan from disney) from a couple of episodes. Disney knows OF US..it's just that we're not big enough to be acknowledged yet.

The OTHER way is to participate in fandom AND most importantly..BUY THE DVD when it comes out.

Okay, I have a question for everybody: Is there some way to MAKE them create more Gargoyles episodes, or at least air the ones they never showed? I know there were some that were created that were never aired of the original series.
And I do agree with those of you who think that The Goliath Chronicles weren't exactly Disney's best effort, but at that point, weren't we all so hooked on the series that we watched them ANYWAY no matter how bad they were? I kinda feel like we shouldn't knock them because after all, we DID watch them. A couple of'em weren't so bad either like the episode when Proteus escapes to New York.
I do have a gripe with the original series though. I think they should've showed more of the Catgoyles/Mutates and WAAAAAAAAAAAY more of Puck. I really would have liked to have seen more development with both of those story lines. It seemed such a waste to let them fall dead like they did.
Anyways, enough of me. If anybody out there feels the same way I do, feel free to email me.

There's a _very_ interesting rumor going around right now, saying that Pixar may be starting its own 2D animation department! The reports of traditional animation's death may have been greatly exaggerated, if this turns out to be true. I think it's amusing how the company that launched the 3D craze may be the only one that can see past it.

Good morning wednesday! Miss the last subway to NewYork? Well, look no further, Brook finally talks about the future of gargoyles but it looks grim...

It looks all down hill from here!

To talk about gargoyle matters more...Ok, I see a problem with Disney & the future of gargoyles. This is really bad people, because no old gargoyle staff members are or may never be on the job eneylonger!

You see were I'm coming from with this. The fate for the gargoyles saga is gone from this day forth... The original team that made the gargoyles show is what made it what it is today, until Disney destroyed it with the Goliath Saga, & that's it's downfall. The 12 or so final chapters of the show created by a new batch of people is the example of Disney's bad work & goodie 2 shoes creations to the Goliath Saga. Like I said last week but I don't want to be all negative & or eneything.

Before it was the best show on earth, now it's good until the Goliath Saga. Why... Did Disney create the last Saga to be bad on purpose, I wonder? A plan to stop the Gargoyles Saga because Disney thought it was too violent. I really hope Greg can get back his work & give it to a better team than off of Disneys line or if he could take it over once more to make it the best show on earth again.

I mean can you blame me for loving Gargoyles or what. I want to see the show get to the spotlight here, not the trash can or eneything... Only the top of the food chain will do for gargoyles! That's what I think. But what will happen to the gargoyles saga for real? It's ALIVE or it DEAD, that's thee question...

This is all I will say for now!

This one is for Todd.

Hey, bud, you've been at this for awhile now and I can't say it has been a marvelous career, for one simple reason, I haven't a clue as to what you were going through. I've never helped run (is that the proper term? Ah well!) a web forum like ASK GREG, so I'm a bit clueless. However, I do know what it is like to make a mistake. Neither Greg nor Gore gave you any ability to edit questions, mind you that would make our waits even longer, but I'm pretty patient. I'm still waiting for Greg to get to one of mine after all, I'm not complaining. I've got more important things to do than to complain about how the site's ran. When Greg gets to my question, he'll get to my question, meanwhile I'm working on getting my doctorates. I don't have time to complain about things that don't really concern me too much. As for the rest of the fandom, if you're only quitting because they jumped you and proceeded to turn you into hamburger helper, then don't. Don't give them that kind of sadistic satisfaction. Had Greg not apologized and taken responsibility, I don't think any of those people would have apologized to you. If you're quitting for other reasons aside from that, then hey go ahead, no harm done. As for Greg's question, something along the lines of: "If it were me to take responsibility for it in the first place would you have attacked me for it?" My answer to that query, "If I felt that I was justified for it. If I felt that the majority of the question wasn't necessarily an original idea and that Greg should have merely answered with "I'm sorry, but I can't answer that as it does not follow the guidelines." That would have been the responsible and polite thing to do, after all. All in all, I think Greg should accept the majority, if not all, of the blame for this. You made a mistake, it happens, people trip, they get back up, they tie their shoelaces and they get on with their lives. So, you let one measly little original idea slip by big deal. If you don't quit, you'll be more careful and look at things a bit more judge mentally you learn and you grow from it. If you do quit, as I said no harm done, the next person comes and if they've read the forums they've learned from your mistake not to let things get by them. Hope, that no matter what your decision may be, that you'll be happy with it. See ya around the forums and chat rooms, perhaps.

To The Rest of The Fandom, especially those that scorned Todd:

You people need to Grow Up and go Get A Life! If you people are that hung up on this show that you watch the ASK GREG Forum like hawks watching a mouse then it's time to get a psychiatrist and say, I need help I'm addicted to Gargoyles. Forgive me for my brashness, but I'm not the kind of girl who will stick it to a guy just cause he let one tiny thing through and then it got deleted. Big Deal! Greg could have told Todd to tell the fandom that some wild virus took that one post and deleted it off of the screen. Sheesh!

To Greg:

You need to take responsibility. Now that you know how some of the fans will react I hope that you will behave better. No offense Greg, but surely you could have said to Todd, "Tell them that I deleted it." How hard could that really have been? Give credit where credit is due and don't let others take responsibility for your actions. No matter if they are good or bad because somebody's always going to see the bad in a good action and someone will always see the good in a bad action.

Well, I have to agree with Roy Disney, Eisner is a greedy person, and as far as I am concerned, has all but ruined the company...I have felt for a long while now that Walt Disney is very disappointed, even upset with what is going on. Surely the man left instructions on how the company was to be run...and surely those who still care can make those instructions carrried out, even if through a court of law. How rediculous that a vision by such a truley kind man have been lost. When I see movies in which animals were used, they always seemed in good condition, and were never noticably placed in any situations where they could be harmed, and this was way before any humane laws regarding film were in place. And of course he was always very good at providing quallity entertainment that was clean and of good standing...never a dud. But that as of late hasn't been the case.

Perhaps Roy Disney will choose to continue the fight, even if not through the corporation. I just think that Eisner should be made to honor Walt Disneys' vision.

And yes, how about Greg Weisman telling us his top favorite reasons for wanting the show to continue, etc? :)

Roy Disney: as the original poster, I wil go further into detail. Today's paper also contained additional info.

The manadatory retirement age is only for certain positions, not Management (which includes board members).

In his letter of resignation, Disney (paraphrasing) said Eisner was focusing on making money to the neglect of the Disney spirit.

Also, a day after Disney resigned, Stanely Gold, Eisner's other main opponent on the board quit as well.

Sahyinepu: You're right he hasn't. But I don't think he will.

Instead, maybe we should ask Greg what his top 5 reasons for 'staying with' Gargoyles are.

Battle Beast> No, Roy doesn't own Disney at all. He was a large part of the board and had about $10 million in shares, but he didn't actually own it. About 2 years ago, he publically critized Eisner on the local news. I figured they would have a big fall out. He sent Eisner a 5 page letter and challenged him to step down. I am sure if you look online, you can find the entire letter or at least portions. Either there was a leak or Roy gave the news stations/papers the letter, but it was pretty harsh. Eisner is greedy now. That's why it costs a family of 4 over $200 just for tickets into the theme parks (not counting parking, hotel, tranportation, food, etc). Walt said he wanted to build theme parks that would allow all kinds of families on, regardless of income. He wanted it to be affordable for low to high income families. Disney World doesn't even offer a Florida Resident discount all year (just a few weekends out of the year, 4 parks for $99, but all in one day). If Eisner was smart, he'd lower the prices, have year-round Florida resident prices, and/or offer kids in for free.

Greg>Thanks. And I can see how even she accidently might have posted an original idea. The post being that long, it may have even be lost on her. Or perhaps she didn't think it was even an original idea.

On Roy Disney: He resigned. He was past the retirment age and the board planned to oust him so he beat them to it. I have said for years Eisner needs to go. It's sad to see the only family member of Disney was going to be kicked off so easily. Age or not, Roy had it in him to work for a lot more years in Disney, is Eisner allowed it. Roy actually handpicked Eisner for the job of CEO years ago. But I am sure Roy never though Eisner would become a Grinch and care more about his money then about the moralality of the company.

I'd wager you are one of the most intellectual figures in the fandom, it would be sad to see you go.

On a side note, Roy Disney wasn't kicked out, he reached the mandatory retirement age for Disney Directors. He took the opportunity to rail against Eisner. I probably would have done the same in his position.

Mara,

Obviously, you're correct, as this last incident proved. My only defense -- and it's not too impressive as defenses go -- is that I had no idea that this would cause such a reaction. I wasn't trying to hide anything. I was just being lazy. Yes, I suppose you could say there was a "cover-up", but there was no intent to cover anything up. I also would have copped to my error much more quickly had my Thanksgiving trip to Vegas fallen on different days. I was gone for nearly a week and had no idea what had fallen out while I was away from my computer.

As I said before, mea culpa.

RE: Roy Disney

Technically, he resigned, rather than was kicked out, as I understand the Drudge Report's telling of the story.

And in the message board thread I've linked to, one poster mentions that he resigned from the board once before -- as part of a maneuver that put him in charge of the company.

So this may bode well for the House of Mouse.

But once again, Todd, I know I sent you an e-mail, but I'm going to apologize here as well. I'm sorry for reacting the way I did. You do a damn fine job moderating ASK GREG.

I'll confess, my post was made more out of frustration for the whole system, but it does not justify the attitude I had, and everyone else is frustrated anyway. There were more constructive ways to state that, but in the heat of the moment, I let my temper get the better of me. What can I say, it's a gift.

But I'm just happy to have ASK GREG in the first place. I mean, how many fandoms out there are as lucky to have such a connection with the creator of the series as we do? Not many, I guarantee I could count the number of them on one hand. Not to mention the fans who put so much into it.

Todd, while at this point I wouldn't blame you if you did, please don't resign.

I just heard the terrible news. They finally kicked out the last Disney. It's all downhill from here on, folks.

And in the immortal words of someone, "Start Panicking."

That is all I will say.

Hey Greg...you never told us why you had so many of us say what we liked best, our five top reasons for watching Gargoyles...

So....why did you ask that?

And, what if anything does all the resigning and such at Disney really mean? Anyone?

Greg, Todd and the rest of you:

First off, I apologize for my language, heat of the moment. It was doubly, tripley... exponentially more irksome that this should happen to the first decent question to come down the pike in.. what? Two months? Three? Does anyone even remember? Though that in no way excuses, please understand finding out, so close to the answer being posted, and following the forum with great personal emotional investment (We care, we really do...) it was just sort of a kick in the shorts and I reacted emotionally rather than logically.

Secondly, Todd, I wish you wouldn't resign, but I would like for there to be some sort of change with the way AskGreg is handled. There are people who are more than willing to help, it is extremely frustrating... for all of us. I'm sorry I was harsh at you, once again: heat of the moment. You do a fine job, but this does illustrate that change must happen.. something's got to give.

Thirdly, Greg, I can understand on some level the wanting to avoid all of this, but when these things happen in life it is always more beneficial in the long run just to come out with the straight truth. A simply "Greg looked at it, saw a problem and had it deleted because of the guidelines." would not have been disputed by ANYONE. You the Boss here, it's your interview thingy, it's your discretion. Stick it on someone else who only gives a vague "I'm sorry but I'm not at liberty to..." and it only causes more ire. At least that's been my experience with it. I know I am somewhat bothered that there was a need to keep that underwraps... it doesn't make sense to me. We don't like you any less because you use your discretion in something important to you... there wouldn't have had to be a big to-do. You says it's kicked, it's kicked.

Anyway, to wrap up, Sorry Todd, Greg, and the rest of the CR for my comments.

Guys,

I know I inadvertently started all the negativity rolling around here, and I suppose it's too much to ask for everyone to try to actually get along.

But at the very least, could we clean up the language in this room a bit. I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for explaining the problem and admitting what you did, Greg. My observation about the missing post wasn't meant to be a critique of Todd, but an honest curiousity about what was going on and a fear that other posts would suffer the same fate. Maybe I should have kept it to myself.

Todd> I hope you don't resign. I know I've grumbled about deleted posts of mine in the past, but when I'd asked you about it, you helped point out what the problem was. You have an impressive patience and detailed knowledge of the series that make you perfect for the job, and all but impossible to replace.

Mea culpa.

This debacle is my fault. Not all my fault (see below), but largely my fault. The biggest problem was that all this yelling and screaming took place while I was out of town and without internet access, so first and foremost I wasn't able to nip this in the bud sooner, because I wasn't aware it was going on. That's not exactly what I'm apologizing for, but I'm sorry that things timed out so badly.

Okay, as I see it, here is what happenned...

1. A couple years ago, Lynati submitted a very intelligent but VERY LONG post to ASK GREG. I'm sure she didn't intend it, but hidden somewhere in the middle of that post was an original idea. It was there. I saw it myself. I don't remember what it was, but it was definitely there. So that was her mistake.

2. Todd cleared that post ages ago. He missed the original idea and cleared it, when he should have deleted it. Maybe he missed the original idea and didn't delete it because the post was so long and dense. Maybe he was so glad to see a truly intelligent post with intelligent and new questions, that the original idea slipped by him. I'm sure he doesn't remember. But he did clear it. And that was his only (and I think extremely minor) mistake.

DON'T EVEN START ON CUTTING AND PASTING AND/OR DELETING PARTIAL QUESTIONS. Todd does not have that capability because Gore and I didn't give him that capability. Period. The way his access works, Todd has ONE CHANCE (more on this later) and only one chance to delete either an entire question or NOT. This time he chose not to delete it.

AND DON'T EVEN START ON WHY HE'S LETTING DOPEY AND/OR REPETITIVE QUESTIONS PAST and deleting questions like Lynati's. For starters, I personally have instructed Todd on multiple occassions NOT to delete questions whose only sin is dopiness and/or repetitiveness. So you can blame me for the glut and not Todd. And again, Todd let Lynati's question through.

Next, if we're spreading blame around, I think it's fair to include Gorebash. But don't go overboard. We all would like to see ASK GREG fixed. But this is Gore's site. He's very aware of the problems, but Real Life has prevented him from addressing them as quickly as we'd like. I don't blame him for this. I'm very grateful that he's provided this site AT ALL. I'm sure he'd appreciate volunteers, but there's no way I'm going to make him do anything on any kind of timetable that he's not 100% comfortable with. Gore and Todd and I have discussed a number of viable solutions for fixing ASK GREG's problems. He just hasn't had time to implement them. But I'm still grateful for what we've got, flawed though it may be. ASK GREG wouldn't exist without Gore.

The rest of this is my fault. Lynati's post got through to me. And I started to answer it, reading one sentence at a time. Answering one question at a time. Then I came to the original idea. It was very frustrating. BUT I DELETED THE ENTIRE QUESTION, including the answers I had already typed up. The reason for this is simple. The moment I come across a document of any length with an original idea, I need to delete it to protect myself legally. It's not that I'm specifically worried about Lynati sueing me. I'm not. But I need to have a firm and consistent policy. I don't look at original ideas. Period. If I look at Lynati's, then someone else -- perhaps even someone whose idea I never even laid eyes on -- could use Lynati to prove that I MIGHT have seen his or her idea too.

So boom. Original idea. Delete. It's that simple, and frankly, it's the risk Lynati ran when she submitted that one huge post. One bad apple spoiled the whole bunch, girl.

So you see, I'm not apologizing for that. That wasn't a mistake. That was the system. Flawed though it may be, it is simply the best and only system we have at THIS moment. I'm certainly sorry that it was necessary to delete the entire question, but I'm not sorry I deleted it.

Then Vash, I think, noticed that I deleted it and commented on that fact here in the comment room. I noticed Vash's comment and then made my BIG mistake.

*****I asked Todd to take credit for deleting Lynati's post.*****

In my own defense, I felt somewhat justified. He should have deleted the post way back when, so I was just asking him to take retroactive credit for it. But the main culprit in my thinking was laziness. It seemed easier to just give Todd credit for deleting all deleted posts, saving me the time of going through a whole rigamaroll to explain things. (You can see how well that worked.)

Of course, I had no idea that the comment room would explode over this. I certainly had no intention of making Todd take any HEAT for my actions, and so I'd like to apologize to him for that.

I won't ask GXB or Mara to apologize to him, because they believed in good faith that he was the cause of their ire, when in fact it was me. But I will ask the two of them (and a few of the rest of you) to look at your posts (some laced with expletives) and ask yourselves whether or not they were truly justified. Had you known that I was the culprit would you have been quite that rude to me? And if you're prepared to be more respectful to me, why in the world would you be quite that rude to Todd or any other fan who is simply trying to do the best he can in a difficult situation?

And I say all this hoping that GXB and Mara and Lynati will remember that I value your friendship and all the hard work you did on the last convention, etc. This mess was my fault, certainly, but you might take a quick look at whether or not you helped the situation or made it worse.

But enough soul searching.

This was my fault and I apologize to all of you for it. It derailed the dialogue in this room into the negative for a week -- and I'm to blame.

Now, as to Todd's resignation, I don't blame him for resigning in the slightest. All those people who accused him of being over-dramatic, are in my opinion, out of line. Even without my own personal culpability, I was stunned at the posts that were leveled against Todd. Full of, frankly, ignorant ASSUMPTIONS about the way the site worked (or doesn't work) and personal attacks against the guy. (I did, by the way, appreciate those people who asked Todd not to resign without managing to sideways insult him in the process.)

I was -- at one point -- pissed off enough at the way some of the posts treated Todd to say something like "If Todd goes, I go." But that's problematic in at least a couple ways.

--One, this was my fault, so I'd be punishing people for my error, which is wrong.

--Two, and most important, I felt it was akin to blackmailing Todd into staying, and that's flat-out not fair.

Todd, if you're burned out on the job, I certainly understand and you can bow out with my blessing and my sincere thanks for a job well done over the last few years. But I hope you'll stay on. I truly hope you will.

And in any case, I'd like you to stay on to help me redeem myself for my recent error.

Which brings us, finally, to a solution to the current problem.

Lynati -- please e-mail your long post directly to Todd. He doesn't have a record of it, and can't possibly know from memory what the original idea was. I don't even remember, and I only saw the thing a couple weeks ago.

But I'm sure if he studies it, he'll be able to find it. In fact, he may be able to find more than one. I never did read the entire post, but deleted it as soon as I saw one original idea somewhere in the upper third of the thing.

I'd like Todd to alert you to the quote-unquote "offending passage(s)" via a return e-mail. I have asked Todd not to edit people's posts for ASK GREG, and I don't want him to start now.

But if he points out the specific problem, Lynati can then re-edit her own post and send it in a SECOND E-MAIL to Todd.

Todd can then e-mail it directly to me. And I'll answer it in a ramble. That way, Lynati will not have to wait two years to get an answer.

Todd, I hope I'm not asking too much in asking you to do this one last favor for me, for the fans and for ASK GREG. If it is, just let me know, and I'll understand. But I hope you'll do this and stay on as well.

Again, I want to apologize personally to Todd and to all of you for the trouble I've caused. I'm very sorry.

Thanks for the congrats and I can't believe how old she is either. Hehe...And in other good news: JUST got back from child support court. He ignored the notice and never showed up, so they sent out an arrest warrent and if he doesn't have at least $750 on him (he owes almost $3000), then he goes to jail for 90 days. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. So I am just in a yipee! kinda mood right now.
And with the game, it is weird about the non-flying/gliding gargoyles, but because it's online, new patches are put up at least weekly (usually daily) so who knows? Enough feedback for flying/gliding gargs and we just might get them on the game. I do hope so. But I will be first in line to buy that next year!

Brooklyn X> Just calm down a little. While it's good and all that you're eager to post, it's just that it's sort of proper to make subjects in here related Gargoyles, its universe, or station 8, etc. in some remote way (even minor) as opposed to the TGS comment room next door (http://www.s8.org/tgs) where it's OK to post about anything. Don't get me wrong because it's good to have you here, but it almost seems you're walking the fine line between commenting and spamming.

Hidey-ho Garg fans! Suddenly realized that I haven't posted anything in a while.

I'm still chugging away at Garg dvds. I found a couple episodes I had not taped so I have been looking at the TD schedule lately. Fortunetly, Revelations airs tonight and two more I need are tomorrow (if everything stays in order...must check schedule again...) Once I get Revelations, I can finish disc 9. The Cage is being converted as I type this. Disc 10 will be done before the end of the week. I might be finished before the year is out (maybe).

I've started printing labels for my discs. The first one I did isn't too great, but the one for disc 7 (Eye of the Beholder, Vows, and the episode before Eye...) turned out VERY well. I don't think I'll make one that'll top it. If I can figure out how, I'll post a couple on the net.

Now to check that schedule again....later folks!

Ultima X is totally online. Wish it wasn't, but it is. Like I said, it will be about $12 a month to play and probably $40-60 to buy when it is first released. You have the option of waiting a few months for the price to go down, but then you will behind in experience and if you want to get land and build a house/cottage/castle/whatever, you will lose land as well. You can't buy land. You just kinda stand there and hold onto that lot till you build your house, otherwise people can grab that land by the sea you really wanted. When I played Ultima, I gave up the waiting game to find land or buy a house. I went to Ebay and bought a tower for $80. It was worth that much then, but when they got the new expansion with new lands, my property value dropped dramitically. So bad that when I quit the game all together, I just gave my house to a friend.
And I quit because I didn't have the time in RL and the stress of RL didn't make me enjoy the game as much anymore. But I am ready for the new challenges and new worlds or Ultima X. Not to mention all the gargoyles ;-)
In Star Wars Galaxies, you are allowed one character for each "Shard". A "Shard" is like a server. Every shard is identical in land cities/towns, and creatures. Only characters and houses differ. Normally, you chose a Shard that was within your area. Like I live on the East Coast, so Catskills or Atlantic was good. The chance you meet people within your area is better and connection is usually better then if you signed on to Australia. Ultima X will probably be no different with shards, but when I was on Ultima Online, you could have I think up to 10 characters and have 5 of them on just one Shard. I don't know if they will change that, since having multiple characters on a shard allows you to cheat (have one character to be a hunter/gatherer, have another as the bread winner, and another as the warrior, and then hide gold and other items for the other characters, thus, they can focus completely on that one task). They want you to be more realistic then that. (I must admit, I cheated, hehehe).

Brooklyn X>Just keep whining. Cause if someone really did hack into your computer and you believe they are from here, then they see every post that you bitch about being hacked and they are laughing at you now. It's the whole "ignore them and they'll go away" thing that you need to understand. The more you bitch and moan, the more their pissing their pants. So why not go on with your life, let them find another person to hack into because if you shut up about it, they'll get bored with you. This is a comment room about Gargoyles. If you feel they hacked into your comp, then call up tech support, cause your obviously are not going to get any here.
And even the REAL Brooklyn knew when to take defeat. A big thing about being a newbie is dealing with the bullcrap that established members may dish out to you. But by being a pissy baby about this whole thing, you are asking to be bitched at. You want to be excepted here? Then grow up a little and go on. Obviously if someone is hacking, from the comment room standpoint of view, they ain't doing all that big of damage. What, ruining your reputation? You can do that on your own by bitching at those trying to help you.

And as with Babs, I am done with it. I'll talk to him again, nicely, when he can do the same.
