Holy crap! Toon Disney is airing "Deadly Force" tonight! I guess they finally figured out that its not so big a deal after ABC Family aired it a few weeks back.

Stephen: Sorry to hear that man. My condolences.

7 days left to submit entries for the Gathering T-shirt contest (deadline is May 1).
68 days left to submit entries for the Music Video contest (deadline is July 1).
73 days left to reserve your hotel room at the Delta Centre-Ville (deadline is July 6 at noon).

And finally...

Stephen R. Sobotka Jr> My condolences. Take care.

Battle Beast> Well, he's ex-RAF (both the 'rents are) and had a year's posting out there in 1974. Only got to serve 7 months of it though cos frostbite got to a leg injury he'd been recovering from, and unless he came back to the uk all they'd be able to do was amputate (in which case his career was finished) - so he came back, saved the leg & carried on in the force til 89. I think the main attractions were the skidoos and fancy food - though I honestly can't say I'd find seal pie that appealing myself! I know he'd love to go back there some day - the falklands too.

Unfortunately I'm lacking in the basic needs for a holiday abroad at the minute - like money, free time and a passport! Nearest I'll get to a holiday this year'll probably be the college trip to Orkney again in the autumn - but that's always a laugh, and we've seen so many great sites I never would have otherwise (like skara brae, maes howe & the stone circles at brodgar & stenness.)

I do envy your visit to stonehenge though, even if access is so limited these days. (And now it looks like they're gonna dig a tunnel underneath!)It's so much easier to understand these things when you've seen them for yourself.

Night all

Stephen R. Sobotka Jr> My condolences. Without going into detail, let me just say that I know EXACTLY what you are going through. :'(

Sheltie> YOU WIN!!!

Your Dad ONLY saw Goose Bay and STILL loved it?! WOW! (Goose Bay ISN'T the greatest place in Canada to visit.) Beauty is in the "Eye of the Beholder," so your Dad must be a great beholder. I hope you DO come to visit. You'll love it. I live about 1,000 KM due west of Goose Bay, in Edmonton... Site of the famous West Edmonton Mall. Visit anywhere in Canada you'd love it!!

Sheltie> I am part English, so I have strong ties to the UK... (My paternal grandmother (Father's mom?) was from London. I visited there in 2001 and was astounded by the beauty, but HORRIFIED by the drivers... I mean, driving in London! OUCH! (I don't recommend driving in London.) and driving on the opposit side of the road... ugh... :P

I visited Scotland (Glasgow), Wales, England (London, Bath, Stonehenge, Liverpool Stratford-Upon-Avon), etc. I LOVED it all. Can't wait to go back.

I guess my English side is why I love "M.I.A." My Grandfather fought in the WWII for Canada and the Allies. He met my Gran over in London.

My GREAT Grandmother asked him "What time would you like me to knock you up?" (He didn't know this meant when he would like to get woken up.)

ANYWHO I love the UK. Can you tell?

That is all I will say.

STEPHEN - I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

Just the day after Shakespeare's birthday, ABC Family begins to air "Gargoyles"' own take on "Macbeth".

One odd little thought: Greg Weisman once mentioned that one of Macbeth's everyday occupations in the modern world is stage acting. I wonder if he's ever played his Shakespearean counterpart. (For that matter, I can't help but suspect that he'd need an alias for such theatrical work, in light of a certain well-known superstition of the acting world; I don't think that Macbeth believes in the "Curse of the Scottish Play", of course, but I'm sure that he'd have some deference to his fellow-actors who do believe in it.)

I just got the call from the hospital... things with my grandmother have not improved... in fact, they say that she cannot breathe without aid of a resperator, and because of this they cannot perform some critical surgery that would ease her distress.

The family has come to a cocensus. They're easing her off the resperator and letting her go... they say she'll be gone in a couple of hours.

we expected this might happen, but damnit... no one can be prepared for this.

Wanted to let those that care to know. Sorry for interupting everything.

WHITBOURNE> ROCK ON!!!!! I am also heavily pro-Candian, if anyone has ever noticed it or not ( I flaunt it whenever I can).

GO FLAMES> You Americans with your "March Madness" and "Super Bowl" don't KNOW good sports. The ONLY sport at this time is the NHL playoffs. Those others I mentioned don't hold a card. Anyway... GO FLAMES!! (But I'm just on the bandwagon. It's normally GO OILERS GO.)

TODD> I'm sorry to say that I missed Shake's big day. He's my favourite author/writer/poet. He was born in when, 1564... So he's what, 440 years old?

In keeping with that, I will now post my favourite passage of his.

1st PERSON TO GUESS from what play, person, act and scene, is the WINNER!

Captain of our Fairy Band,
Helena is here at hand;
And the youth mistook by me,
Pleading for a lover's fee,
Will we their fond pageant see?
Lord, what fools these mortals be!

(THIS IS WAAAAAY to easy.)

I am now going to sit down and read that particular play...

On the Ask Greg thing, I think the repetive questions and easy to answer questions like ("Why did the show end?" And "What's the name of the purple gargoyle?") could be solved by appointing someone responsible to answer those questions for Greg, so he doesn't have to bother answering them again.

A search option would be cool too. Greg gets so far behind (not that I complaining about, I understand he's a busy man), but for instance, a question I asked 2 years ago, I want to see the answer, but I am stuck searching everywhere for it. Maybe a search engine so you can see all the questions asked by a certain person or about a certain part of the show.

About other things....

I swear, it was like 2 years ago or more, I mentioned making some Gargoyle music videos. Well, I finally have the software and equipment to do it all. I am currently downloading all the episodes needed, which is just about the entire series. Hopefully they will be finished (at least some of the planned videos), as well as the web page, within a month. I'll post the web site on here when it's all done.

Mooncat> I had heard that there were at least two bids up - one for Vegas and another for Chicago. But that was from a conversation from last year, not long after the last Gathering actaully. So my info is probably waay out of date and, more likely, wrong.

The basic problem that most of us are having with "Ask Greg" is that too many people keep on flooding the queue with the same old questions over and over again that Greg's already answered innumerable times (such as "Why did the show end?" and "Is it coming back?"), and they're coming in in such torrents that they outnumber the intelligent questions.

DPH> I know little beyond rumor and speculation. Usually bidders advertise themselves in the CR's in order to assemble a staff. The fact that none have done so means that either a) A group has already formed and wishes their bid to remain a secret, or b) No one is currently bidding. The fact that the con website doesn't yet list a deadline for bid submission could also mean that people are simply taking advantage of the delay to think things over before committing.

Matt - <why do i sense another "how to improve Ask Greg" conversation coming on?> Honestly, I hope not; it's just beating a dead horse.

There's another question about a Gargoyles DVD coming out; hopefully we'll get some good news then.

I suggested a couple of days ago that it might be a good idea to include the "Ask Greg Archives" as an extra in the Gargoyles Season 1 DVD Boxset coming out later this year.

If would save Mr. Weisman a LOT of time and effort if it was included in the DVD Boxset because fans would not come here and ask him the SAME questions; OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!

Wow, took us 'til 3 p.m. to get to 10th (Hi, Greg)? I sense a slow week...

Well, my two cents on last week's discussion in the meantime:

Xanatos/Travis/WVRN>> I wouldn't be at all surprised if Greg *did* mean to suggest that Xanatos owns WVRN (and I think he did; although he's here, now, to step in if so inclined... ...) - most networks (and certainly their affiliate stations) these days are owned either directly or indirectly by corporate conglomerates, so it just strikes me as fitting that Xanatos Enterprises would have ownership of both an entertainment studio and a network. Now, Xanatos might just own the WVRN station and not the network it's affiliated with, but both are possible IMO.

As for whether or not Travis would go interview Xanatos regarding the story Carter/Canmore was covering, I think they wouldn't for two reasons, both tying into Travis' experience as a reporter. First, Travis would probably soundly reject a feature story assignment - he has an anchor position and doesn't need to concern himself with doing features on city skylines to move up in the ranks; junior reporters take care of things like that and hope that they get some air time. Second, Travis probably blew future opportunities to interview Xanatos due to their encounter in "The Edge." If Xanatos does own WVRN and looked unfavorably on Travis ("It appears I'm not appreciated around here."), it's likely that he would refuse future interview opportunities with Travis (e.g., "The Journey"... well, among other reasons, anyway) and force WVRN to send a junior reporter if the managers really wanted a story.

Thoughts?

I have a question. Broadway likes to cook and eat (mostly eat), but is someone ever actually shown, in the series, eating Broadway's cookings? I honestly cannot remember.

I am NOT saying Broadway is a bad cook, but it is a good question.
