I've found gargoyles DVD in a comic book store also, for 29.95. I guess comic book stores are the place to go besides amazon.com.
I noticed that "awakening" wasn't as edited as much as on the VHS tape, which was more true to the orginal. It was good that they inculded "deadly force".
The next thing they need to come out with is the soundtrack a cd-rom video game.
Demona's arm braclet- maybe it's a gift from Goliath?

Greg: haven't seen you for a while - saw a post about you re Batman and wanted to reach out. I'm doing Bus. Affs for a vidgame/film production company in Santa Monica (working on numerous comics-based properties); I wanted to see what's up with you and - who knows? - maybe even find an excuse to work together after all these years. Meanwhile, it looks like all's good with you, but I'd really enjoy catching up.

Kris: Then there are those of us on the other side, where it's only early evening ;)

On the DVD - I literally jumped up and down and yayed when I found a copy on the shelf of a comic store in the city. It wasan import (naturally) and selling for $60, but it was great to see it. Plus I got into a good convo with the store clerk about Gargoyles ^_^

Aren't you get bore sometimes to answer question about Gargoyle?"

Greg would write "When they're questions like yours, yes."

sorry for the double post...

maybe that golden arm brace on Demona's arm is just kept as a handy tool should she ever need to short out the circuitry in the brig of a Hunter hovership...

Print ads would get a lot farther if we got some of the fandom artists to do the actual image. Great looking image done as a labour of love--and an fan artist's commission would likely be less than a non-fan professional would charge, simply because a fan artist has a personal stake in giving something back to the show. Then the major charge would be only the advertising space.

Since there hasn't been much to talk about here lately, I though I'd throw out a suggestion.

We've had frequent discussions here about how to fix "Ask Greg", including the idea that many if not most of the questions could be answered by us, the fans. I don't want to start up the "fix Ask Greg" discussion because it's really all on Gorebash's shoulders.

But just for fun I thought that we might go into the unanswered questions queue and try our hand at giving some answers here in the comment room.

We could go one of two ways: seriously answering questions, or trying to come up with "Weisman-esque" smart ass answers.

It might be kind of fun, and it might spark some much needed discussion here. What do you think?

You know, every time I start to drift away from Gargoyles, something happens to remind me why I love this show so much.

Lately I've been caught up in the fever surrounding the new Star Wars movie-- I managed to get a chorus part with a theater group here at MIT that was putting on Star Wars: Musical Edition at Celebration III (the big SW convention a few weeks ago), so that pretty much took over my life for a while. I can only split my attention between so many different things, so generally when I drift toward one fandom I have to drift temporarily away from another one for a few weeks until my short attention span is up <g>.

So I hadn't been thinking much about Gargoyles, but tonight I've been working with two other students on a group paper due Thursday morning. The three of us were sitting around in the lounge of my dorm with laptops everywhere, and we were starting to fall asleep. Someone suggested that we'd be better off if we had a TV or something to provide background noise, and we don't have a TV in the lounge but we do have an old computer with some pretty substantial speakers. One of my partners knows I'm a Gargoyles fan and somehow we got on that topic, and one thing led to another and the next thing I knew I was digging out my old Gargoyles CDs (no DVD player either, but I have downloaded copies of all the eps on CD) and trying to get the ancient computer in the lounge to play them.

So for the last few hours, while working on our paper off and on, we've been listening to Gargoyles and making offhand comments. Periodically someone will wander through the lounge and peer curiously at the screen; some of them even recognize the show. Some of them even sit down and join us for a while. And we all sit here discussing characters and voice actors and how cool this show was and how nothing else on television has matched up since... And all of it just reminds me how amazing this show was and how very grateful I am that I was introduced to it ten years ago.

Where am I going with this? I don't know <g>. I'm preaching to the choir, I know ;). But hey, I figure we all love this show, so you probably don't mind me babbling on about it now and then...

"The Last" was completely voice-recorded, and the first hald of Act One was story-boarded. Never reached an animatic.

Team Atlantis> I think I've said this before, but I imagine the best we could hope for would be an animatic, basicly the voice track set to the storyboards. I just don't see Disney going through the effort to finish an episode of a show that never made it to air for a DVD of a show that they currently have no plans to revive. When Disney does add a bonus short onto the DVDs for their movies, for example, it's generally something that's already been completed. (Pixar's films being the exception.) I don't know personally what state the episode was at when the series had the plug pullled, but that's probably the most we're going to see and we'd be fairly lucky to see that. It would be awesome, but I'm not sure it will happen.

Blaqthorne & Crimson Fury> As far as Extras are concerned, I was hoping that Disney would allow Greg to finish the mothballed Atlantis series episode that included Demona and the Praying Gargoyle(I think it included the Praying Gargoyle). I know he has the finished voicetrack as I've heard he has played it at past Gatherings, and I'm hoping to hear it in Vegas this year.

With talk about a season 2 DVD, is there any sort of wish list floating around anywhere? Here's mine.
1) Doesn't lock up on my DVD player. Is there a list of which players disc one locks up on?
2) Include the eye catches.
3) With 52 episodes, this would take 7-9 discs (using their season 1 release as reference). Make the box something special. My favorite box still is the Magic Knight Rayearth season 2 box.
3a) Make the box have large enough to include the season 1 and TGC releases, a la the Cowboy Bebop art box.
4) Soundtrack as an extra.
5) How about an easter egg or two?
6) Please, PLEASE don't edit them.

Since I had this posted at the last minute before forum reset, I'm reposting with additions:

I was thinking about the advertising of a Gargoyles DVD and remembered an occurance in Washington, although what it was for was unknown. Awhile ago, someone put a glossy black monolith in the middle of a field, then a few days later, it vanished. It got news coverage and there was speculation on a remake of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Now, for Gargoyles, maybe Disney could have fiberglass statues of the Clan (including Demona and Angela, it IS for Season 2), 3-5 of each member (or one of every named gargoyle met on the World Tour, including the Manhattan Clan, for variety) in various stonesleep poses, and have them put in various public locations throughout Manhattan, such as Central Park, The Empire State Building, and any other locations relevant to Gargoyles and Manhattan. Finally, on the DVD release date, put representatives of each statue on top of the Disney Store in Times Square (at least I think there is something Disney related there, I don't remember). These final statues could have a stone-colored material pressure washed off at sunset to reveal the normal colors to be lit up at night by stagelights and remain until they take them down. Afterwards, they along with the other statues can be auctioned off on E-Bay for charity.

This has been done in my home area of Portland Oregon with statues of Cows placed throughout the city and suburbs for charity, and more recently a big red inflatable ball jammed somewhere in the city every day.
If done with no forewarning to the media, the speculation could create a lot of free advertising for Gargoyles. Maybe involving the public in a kind of scavenger hunt/Gargoyle watch could be even more free advertising, like identify who/where each Gargoyle in the city is (like Brooklyn on the Brooklyn Bridge, Demona at Belveder Castle, etc.), get a rebate on the next Gargoyle's DVD purchase.

Whew! 2 finals down, one more to go! :)

Sunday morning was interesting.... Woke up to the sound of an earthquake. ;) (epicenter being close to Manilla, AK) It was only a 4.1, and I didn't even feel the aftershock (~1.6).

A question to all posters here: Anybody interested in helping a bit? I'm still missing a couple of episode synopsis' ... and I'd like them to be complete. For this, I need YOU! Contact me (either on this email address or using the comment form on the GFW) and tell me which episodes you want to write a synopsis for. A list of currently lacking episodes can be found at the page I linked in
