I also felt very positive about what I hope is the first of several Chronicles of Narnia films. A lot of really great effects work with a good basis in pratical effects. There was stuff left out from the book, but I mostly felt they did a good job of fleshing out what is actually a fairly short story. There were some lines not from the book that didn't work, but many that did. I really liked how the kids were fleshed out so that pretty much everyone had character arcs, not just Edmund.

I'm curious as to what scenes in particular you missed from the book, BB. The link to your review doesn't seem to be working.

Wow. Almost 24 hours between posts. Record?

I saw THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA yesterday, and WOW. It was really good. It was like a children's version of the Lord of the Rings. The special and visual effects were almost the same; but I'd givbe the hand to LOTR.

The film was slow to get going, alomst 30 minutes before we get to Narnia fully. It felt like a lot was cut out from the book, too.

Still, the acting was good, and I wouldn't be surprised if Narnia was nominated for a bunch of oscars. I hope Tilda Swinton receives a nomination for her amazing performance as the White withc. She was truly evil; the only other character I've seen more evil is probably JR Ewing.

ASlan looked REALLY well done; at some points you could tell he was digital but for the most part you never noticed.

The film ended without something to say that there would be a sequal, which there probably will be.

I don't know if there's a problem with my DVD or all of them are like this. On disc 1 of Gargoyles season to volume 1, after I selected play all and yes on the episode introductions, it showed Greg giving his introduction, but I couldn't hear like the first two seconds of it, it was mute. Does anyone else have that problem?

Re: Gargoyles trading cards - Don't know how much they're worth, but I know they're not too hard to find. Seems to be at least a couple auctions up on eBay for sealed boxes of them at any given time.

Speaking of selling millions of copies, I know nothing of the comic book industry. How many issues of something like this will even be printed? A couple hundred? A thousand? Five thousand? I have no idea of the scale of something like that. Although, since this is a smaller comic company, I'd guess the number is relatively small. If they sell well, will they print more? Does anyone know much about the comic industry?

IRC GOLIATH - Yes, I really ought to write these things more carefully.

The element about the Captain of the Guard in "Shadows of the Past" that I view as more questionable is that his real crime wasn't directed against Goliath and his clan but against the humans of Castle Wyvern, and he shows no remorse about having attempted to turn them over to the Vikings.

I wonder whether there were any deaths (or serious injuries) when Oberon put all of New York to sleep during "The Gathering". But I can see why they wouldn't want to dwell on that (aside from the S&P issue); it would only distract the audience from the struggle over Alex (and probably lead to many viewers taking an attitude of "Oh, sure, ignore all the helpless sleeping citizens in favor of some rich guy's son!").

just got through watching the commentary on City of stone and a few other other eps. I know most fans know most of Greg's stuff. but I did a get a few answers for myself I've been wondering since watching COS for the first time.

I can't believe I didn't notice that the face Demona picks up was Coldstone's at first until Greg stated the obvious, nor did I notice Desdemona's crumbled body next to him.. couldn't find Iago among the rubble but oh well :p.

and one of the scenes that made me go WTF? in COS pt 1. when Demona talks to the Captain she's instantly older. good to know it was a flub in the model sheets..

too bad Luach was later killed by Canmore. he looks like the Prince from Beauty and the Beast for some reason.

also at the very end of COS when the Gargoyles leave the castle you can notice that Goliath has a bracelet around his ankle like Demona :lol:

I noticed in Vows, in the first flashback when Demona runs up to Goliath she doesn't swing her legs up like she did in the 2nd flashback. I remember when it first aired she did it both times .. oh well.

speaking of Beauty and The Beast . I wonder if Belle has a holster like Elisa does ;) also did Elisa ever get the lower half of the gown back?. I thought that epsiode was a little risque with Fox naked and Elisa without her gown.. VERY understanding S&P people indeed

you did mention Demona going around killing people, esspecially in City of Stone she does some hardcore murdering both in flashbacks and of helpless New Yorkers. not to mention those who died in car accidents and the like when they turned to stone.

Spoilers in intros? Yes. There are 3 that come to mind. Greg gives away Fox being pregnant in the intro to Outfoxed. Greg gives away Thailog's existence in the intro th "Double Jeopardy". And I believe he gives away Angela's parents before Avalon 1, but I'm foggy on that one (it was late when I reached Avalon).

If TGC comes out on DVD I will absolutely support and buy copies just like I have thus far. I still think there are some very nice storylines in TGC, even if they butchered what Greg had envisioned. "Dying of the Light" is still, by far, my most favorite TGC episode. For that episode alone I'd get the set.

We talk every so often about deaths of characters in the series and how they typically fall to their death so you don't see it. Then you have Demona in CoS just out and out murdering people and you see it and, if you catch on to it, is actually pretty shocking for a kids/Disney flick.

But then I'm watching "Leader of the Pack" and you have Coyote rip the iron gates at Rikers and throw them on top of a group of 4 or 5 guards. After it lands, you see 2 guards sort of squirming as their legs are trapped.. but the 2 or 3 guys in the middle of the group never even get a step off to run away before the thing hits. So they're pretty much dead, and not from falling (well.. not from them falling, but from a falling gate.. but still, significant difference).

Then you see Magus die in Avalon 3 which, by far, is the most emotional death you see (up to that point anyways). Even if you want to call Goliath's "suicide" in Awakenings a death, I'd still put Magus' as more powerful. That one still almost gets me.

I still have some problems with "Shadows of the Past". It feels like Goliath forgives Captian of the Guard just a little too quickly. (But then again, he's always seeming to forgive Demona.. but I think there's some sentimental thoughts that push his willingness to forgive with her).

Harvester of Eyes: It's the Interactive VCR Board Game at the end of the Heroes Awaken tape. When you make it all the way to the end, the words "orday rewindum tapus!" come on to tell you to rewind to the beginning of the game so you can start over. It's a neat little game. They even got the voice actors to record lines for it! This line's my favorite:

Demona: I can come back and freeze any of you whenever I want! Bwahahahah!

Kris: I don't think Greg will be making fun of the Goliath Chronicles, per se, but rather telling the stories that he'd originally wanted to tell, but couldn't. The whole sordid tale behind the Goliath Chronicles is in the archives (check the link provided), and from what I've read, he doesn't begrudge them anything. I should warn you: have a generous quantity of inebriants on hand when you sit down to watch any of them, but ESPECIALLY when watching "To Serve Mankind," "A Bronx Tale," and "Generations." (One of the things I'm anticipating from the comic is to see what Greg had planned for Demona and Angela).

Patrick: Actually, I've noticed that there's still some mastering issues on a few of the "Definitive Edition Remasters." Again, that's my main motive for wanting to get the Platinum Collection. With just a little more tweaking, a few of the early songs like "The Musical Box" and "I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)" would be perfect.

Yep. That's still on the DVD. If you look closely you can watch Talon pass right through the first Hudson. And the tip of Broadway's right wing vanishes for a few frames when he's stretching. (Thanks to Demona Taina for pointing that last one out)

HoE - I used to have every Genesis album in cassette form, but then the tapes started getting so old that a number of them just wouldn't play anymore. So I've been gradually re-buying them on CD. The nice thing is that most CD versions of albums from the pre-CD era are "remastered" from the original studio tapes, so the sound is a lot better. The CDs I've just bought are "Invisible Touch" and "We Can't Dance," which were the last two albums before Phil Collins left the group.

The highest I saw that DVD sales rank get to was 230.

The "Vows" animation error is the only one, that I know, which was corrected in later episodes but found its way to the DVD.

Any easter eggs? I haven't spent any time looking for them.

I lurk on the board every so often and I have the Gargoyles S2 Part 1 DVD Boxset on order. Anyway, is the Clocktower background at the end of "Vows" the only error on the DVD set that has been found? (which I think is a minor error)

Also, should the rest of the Gargoyles Season 2 be released, I hope they make sure NOT to use the first version of the episode "The Gathering Part 2" with the audio skew error with Puck right before commerical break in the episode. That would be very annoying.

Does anyone know how high the sales rank for Gargoyles got on Tuesday? I was working an 8-hour shift between 11:30 and 7:30. When I left, it was around 283, and I don't think it had gone past 200 when I got home.

As for Elisa's response to "Metamorphosis", we do get a reference to it in "Eye of the Beholder", where her first thought is that the "werefox" could have been another mutated victim like Derek (and proceeds to show a lot of strong suspicion towards Xanatos thereafter, such as saying to him that she trusts him as far as she could throw him). It also gets mentioned in the "City of Stone" commentary where she's storming into the castle in Part Three to confront Xanatos (and winds up getting frozen in stone while touching Owen).

I can't wait to see these episodes. All of the Gargoyles were re-edited in some way when they were broadcast over here (the merging of the first two episodes of Awakening into one twenty minute episode was the worst example). It will be interesting to see what I missed, particuarly City of Stone, my favourite multi-parter of the series.

Resurrection of Wolf avatar!...in honor of Season 2's premiere, "Leader of the Pack".

At the end of "A Lighthouse in the Sea of Time", the credits for John Rhys-Davies read, "Macbeth" and "Morwood-Smyth". Who's Morwood-Smyth? One of the newscasters?

I also wonder which characters were Duane, Fleance, Banquo, and Gilgamesh in that ep--especially since Macbeth only had two lackies (the blonde guy and the tough-looking red head girl).

Given the more recent discovery (for me at least--not sure what year Greg revealed this) that Hudson is Broadway's father, it gives the character development a little extra something, considering what they both go through.

I forget, does Goliath claim that Merlin's time was 5 B.C. or 5 A.D. ? It's funny that we're pretty much given Arthur's backstory in a speech by Macbeth. Wonder if the writing team knew this early into the Season 2 scripts development that he'd actually be making an appearance.

I don't remember it being such a long stretch of time between Derek changing in "Metamorphosis" and the show dealing with that again. Shame there's no acknowledgement of it or any indication of emotional toll on Elisa in the several episodes following. Guess it's one of those off-screen things...maybe we're to assume that after her big cry in the clocktower at the end of "Metamorphosis", she bottled it up and did her job the same as always until Derek and the Mutates showed up again.

Yay, "The Mirror" ! Huge fun, so well written, and a very well-animated ep as well. Must watch again soon.

Man, these DVDs are a really big deal, especially for those of us with no recordings who're unwilling to touch bootlegs.

The intros are kinda neat. The Gathering of Cast and Crew featurette was decent. The commentaries are what I'm most interested in, but I didn't get that far yet. Just watched most of the first disc tonight, up to "The Mirror". That whole string of episodes is series gold (Lighthouse, The Mirror, Eye of the Beholder, Vows, City of Stone 4-parter--we'll see about The Silver Falcon, dunno if I ever saw that one).

yes, Gargoyles is a great show, but anyone who wants G&D to get back together romantically or thinks they should also wants to ruin the series and make it so its no longer a great show. having G&D re-couple would destroy the realism of their evolving relationship and make them no more than your typical cookie-cutter kids program protaginist with girlfriend. boring.

80% of the xena fandom wanted gabrielle and xena to be lesbians which they where not if you followed the show haha. Does'nt mean anyone who wished this was any less of a fan.

Some people love the demona and goliath coupled and like the episodes that show the past. Some people don't. DOe'snt mean everyone has to be down on these people for that. At least they are fans and contribute to liking the show and to the dvd sales.

Not all fans are ones who can quote things from episodes either. Not all fans are ones who know every episode of the show. Does it matter. We are all fans of a great great show.

Demona/Goliath> i can't think of any serious fans of the show who talk about wanting Goliath and Demona back together. i doubt there is even one regular poster in this Comment Room who wishes that, though i could be wrong. now, i have seen that desire expressed from some of the people who ask stupid or already answered questions over in Ask Greg. this signifies, in my head at least, that the fans who want Goliath and Demona together are the same fans who are ignorant of the show or of the characters therein and don't bother to familiarize themselves with the characters before making judgements on how they think said characters should behave. either that or they are just not aware that when an ex-lover repeatedly makes attempts against your life you probably shouldn't pursue a relationship with them in the future.

At least for the US Military, t's basically the base store. I think it stands for Public EXchange, but my Dad retired from the Navy years ago so my brain's rusty on the exact meaning of the abbreviation. Definitely not a dumb question.

First time poster, long time reader. I went to my local Best Buy on Dec 6th to buy the dvd and couldn't find it so I asked a guy for help and when he found he was didn't even know that Season one was on dvd. I thought that was really weird.

I don't think you have to be a Goliath/Demona shipper to like the original ending of Vows. Though I wonder if anyone will be confused by it, such as people who haven't seen the ep or haven't seen it in a long time. Anyway, I can't compare the endings yet. I have to wait for my DVD to arrive :)

Got my copy of the DVD from Amazon.com today, and it was worth it. So far, I've seen "City of Stone" with the Commentary on (though I'll need to watch Part Two with the Commentary on again, because I was interrupted by my landlady - the apartments in my building are having the locks changed and she needed to give me the new key - and missed part of the commentary on the scene where Duncan and Gillecomgain fall out).

Almost all of the information on it was things that we already know from "Ask Greg", though there were one or two new bits here (such as why they had Macbeth's soldiers dropping stones upon the English using the battering ram on the castle gates instead of pouring boiling oil out of a cauldron). I was pleased that they deliberately paused long enough for us to hear Demona's two big lines, "What have I - what have they done to you?" and "The access code is 'alone'." Plus a little about the historical background (including admissions that they might have maligned Gillecomgain and Bodhe, the same way that Shakespeare maligned Macbeth and Gruoch). I haven't seen anything else on it yet, but I'm planning to see some of the episode introductions tomorrow and over the next few days. This'll be great fun.

And I don't think that the menus are quite so bad - I like a few of the touches on them such as the "gargoyle claws tearing a scene away" when you go to a new menu, and the Hunter's emblem for a cursor.

Just a quick note to say that you can love the original ending to Vows without being a Goliath/Demona shipper... I've always preferred the original ending, even if it was a mistake (and I am wholeheartedly a Goliath/Elisa fan). I think maybe it's a second or two longer than the corrected one? I don't know, but the first one always felt to me like Goliath was mourning his loss and acknowledging that it's permanent. And it gave him enough time to do that. The second one always felt more rushed. It didn't quite last long enough for me to feel the same sense of closure. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, or am I just babbling on? ;)

As for DVDs, my local Best Buy had two filed away in the TV Shows section. None in the New Releases, but at least it wasn't filed in Children's...

I don't know what the deal with people wanting Demona and Goliath together is. You're right, though, that in our society it seems that a man hitting a woman is abuse but a woman hitting a man is no big deal. If a man reports being beaten by his wife, most people would probably just think he's a wuss. Likewise, nobody seems too upset about the female teacher who had sex with her fourteen year old student- if the genders were reversed, everyone would call it molestation, yet as is, a lot of people think the student got lucky. An adult having sex with a child whom (s)he teaches is an abuse of power and sexual assault, period. This has gotten far afield. Back to the main topic: Demona had 1,000 years to grow apart from Goliath, and she's much too far gone to come back anytime soon.

Oh, and I wrote my amazon review yesterday. Should we start posting reviews elsewhere? I don't have an account at Best Buy's website, or any other online broker I can think of.

Yesterday, using my meager funds, I managed to buy all the copies of Gargoyles Season 2 Volume 1 at my local hastings . . . . . . . . after spending over 15 minutes looking for the only copy. It was sealed away so that only those looking for it would have hope of finding it. Thankfully, my local Walmart had enough copies to make for it.

Ok, forgive me, I feel like ranting ;)
Demona/Goliath: Okay, I mean no disrespect to shippers for this pair, but I honestly don't know how anyone can watch every episode of Gargoyles and still think that these two belong together. Yeah, Demona is an awesome character, so is Goliath...but together? nah. Their views are too radically different.

And really..how much abuse from Demona could Goliath take? Before the end of vows, before Goliath knows it's officially over, Demona threatens his life, the lives of his clan mates, and Elisa. She turns him into a zombie, and uses his emotions for her against him to coerce him into helping Xanatos to make constructs that will harm him and his clan. Not to mention how she uses Goliath wrongly in VOWS.

Now, if we think about it, what if the gender roles were reversed? What if Goliath was the female and Demona the male? if the "male" Demona did these things to the "female" Goliath. Or if Goliath was the villain, and Demona leader of the clan... Would people want them together? I doubt it. It's sexist
I know, but unfortunately, it's how most people think. (I remember reading a ramble by Greg Weisman where he talked about this, but I can't find it in the archives).

And I just love the irony that many of the atrocities Demona performs against the clan and Goliath, actually helps bring Goliath and Elisa closer together, as in THE MIRROR!

No, Duncan got electrocuted by the Weird Sisters' little ball of light thingamajig, that way they could avoid another fall to the death. I don't know who fell into a rock, but it might have been a character with a name in the script that was never spoken out loud. I think Macduff was like that.

And I certainly understand that the commentary would spoil the episodes it's commenting on, or there'd hardly be a point. I'm fine with it spoiling other eps. in the same DVD set. I just wish it hadn't given away things that didn't happen until much later, as it seriously weakens the surprises for first-time viewers.

I picked up copy #11 from Best Buy last night so I had something to watch tonight, rather than wait for Amazon to ship it out. The DVD wasn't in the new releases section, but rather with the season 1 DVD.

Watched Mirror, Vows, CoS 1-4 (with commentary on), and the 10 minute featurette with the cast interviews.

I don't recall there being any real spoilers in the intros. There is a bunch in the CoS commentary, but you have to assume spoilers in commentary tracks. However in CoS 1 Greg does say something like (paraphrasing) "hey, if you haven't watched the series yet, spoiler alert, as we're going to be talking about lots of stuff" and then there's like a 30 second pause in the commentary.

The CoS commentary has some great stuff in it. The guys (Frak Paur, Michael Reaves, Greg) seem to still genuinely enjoy the show and have a lot of fun. One example is how they would keep goofing on Bodhe and what a coward he was, but then Greg throws in something like (paraphrasing) "but the real Bodhe might have been a great warrior and we're doing a disservice to him". They would also keep pointing out the classic Disney "fall to your death". Then you see .. some named character (I'm drawing a blank) get thrown into the side of a big rock by a gargoyle and (I think it's) Frank Paur makes the comment "well he fell sideways". Great stuff, really fun.

CoS is especially great with all the insight into Demona's character. The whole "What have I... what have *they* done" line. The use of "alone" for her password. The bit where she seems really happy working with MacBeth and her gargoyle group, but then turns on a dime when she overhears Bodhe's suggestion to get rid of the gargoyles. And, what I think was the most revealing bit, when she saves young MacBeth and Gruoch from going over the parapet (the first time, anyways) and lets hunter get away in the process. Really good stuff.

I don't mind, at all, the original (mistake) Vows ending. I think it adds a kind of surreal, tragic moment there.

Great DVD. Almost all my favorites are in this one set. I can't wait for Volumne 2!

HARVESTER - Yes, I agree that Goliath and Demona certainly aren't getting together again, but what I meant was that there are a few other people in the fandom out there who aren't willing to accept it. Greg's even been asked by those people if Goliath and Demona will ever reunite, in a way that indicates that they want it to happen, and keeps on having to tell them that, no, Goliath's future is with Elisa, despite the obvious obstacles along the way.

Sadly, I won't be able to buy my copy for a couple days, until I get some money in my account. However, I have been letting others know. I passed along the message to an anime-related message board, and at least one person said thanks, and presumably plans to buy it or already has. And a few weeks ago I was volunteering at an elementary school carnival. I went to the face-painting station and had three diagonal red lines painted on my face. One of the kids recognized it, and I told him about the DVD. I may end up giving him one for Christmas. I also went by fye at the mall. They had one copy, as well as a copy of Season One (which surprised me- perhaps they decided to reorder with the new release?). Unfortunately, it was buried behind Garfield and Free Willy, but as no one was watching I decided to do a little judicious rearranging of the shelves. >:) I also went by Wal-Mart and didn't see any copies, which surprised me, given that I bought three copies there on release date last year.

And if you want to buy multiple copies but are worried about others not being able to find it, you can buy at amazon, as they don't sell out. On the other hand, if a store sells out of a product on day one, there's a good chance they'll reorder more than they had before.

Shara: Your writing contest doesn't end until Christmas, right? Don't assume no one is going to enter- I plan to, but I'm not going to have time until after exams are over.

For those who already have the DVD, I've got a question about Greg's intros: do they have any spoilers in them? I'm watching the series with my girlfriend, who hasn't seen most of the series. She knows a few things about it, such as that Xanatos and Fox have a child, and that Demona eventually turns human during the day, but she hasn't seen most of the series. She has no idea about the Owen/Puck connection. We were watching "Awakening" with commentary, and sometime in part 3 when Owen was on screen, Greg said "we eventually find out that Owen is really-" Fortunately, I hit pause at just that moment, or one of the biggest surprises of the series could have been ruined. Of course commentary assumes that one has seen what is being commented on, but I was a bit disappointed that Greg didn't think to avoid spoilers for future episodes. Now I can easily just only watch the commentary alone, but I assume the intros play automatically before each episode. So do any of them give away future events (e.g., in "The Mirror," Greg says something like "Notice how Demona says Puck served 'the human,' referring to Xanatos, whom he served as Owen")? If so, I'm going to have to fast-forward through all of them.

Man, I'm having a blast!!! Here are somethings I've noticed, watching the eps again.

1) Metamorphosis> - I love how, when Jackal looks at the explosion that we can see it in his eyes. Tre cool.

2) Metamorphosis> - How did Sevarius fake being electrocuted? I've always wondered about that.

3) Legion> - Did you ever notice that Desdemona looks like Storm (X-Men)? Especially the eyes and the black parts of the wings [like the early drawins of starm])

- Did you notice the look on Goliath's face as soon as he enter's Coldstone? Awesome look!

4) A Lighthouse in the Sea of Time> - Do you think Owen - being Puck - knows EXACTLY where the Gargoyles are? He says, "You know I can't tell you that." Meaning what? That he can't say because he's Owen??

Or can he not tell because he IS a human at the moment?

5) The Mirror> - Did you notice the sinister little smile Puck has on his face everytime he makes magic? (Especially when it's not what they wanted to happen.)

- What is Goliath thinking at the exact moment when he is flying with Elisa? Man, Hormones must be raging! :P

Patrick: Which ones were you missing? The two Genesis albums I don't have that I'm interested in buying are "Trick of the Tail" and "Abacab." I'm tempted to give "Calling All Stations" another listen due to an Amazon.com review that raised an excellent point: everyone thought the band was finished back in 1975 and they did some great stuff after Peter Gabriel left (though Collins needed some convincing to take over the duties of lead vocalist). This reviewer felt that Genesis was a band whose success does not rest solely on one person, and so people didn't really give "Calling All Stations" a fair shot, simply because it was missing Phil Collins. Besides, I've always considered Banks to be one of the band's most talented members. ( ;

I'm still tempted to buy the Platinum Collection, because as I said in the TGS CR, I'd like to hear how some of the remasters sound (even on the CDs I have, I felt there were still some mixing issues on a lot of the 70s stuff). Besides, it's good to finally see a real Genesis compilation, one that takes the band's entire history into account.

Incidentally, did you happen to remember what sales ranking the DVD had when you bought yours? Has anyone been tracking?


Todd: I doubt there will ever really be anything between Goliath and Demona again. If what little I know about the plans for Gargoyles 2198 were any indication, Demona still hates humans 200 years in the future.

And I think the ending to "Vows" that I have on my tape is more appropriate symbolism than what we saw in the original airing. Sadly, I can't comment too much on anything else, since I have to wait about a week for my DVD to arrive.

Well, just like last year, wal-mart is the only store in the area with the DVD, but unlike last year, they actually have more than one copy. (I myself couldn't get the DVD at the store, but I ordered it on Amazon, and will be getting my copy in 5-9 buisness days).

Vows> I spoke to Greg at Comic Con to see if he had had any clue if the original ending to Vows would wind up as an extra on the DVD set. He told me it was very unlikely as they hadn't asked him to do any kind of introduction to explain the reason for the different endings. He also told me he wasn't even sure if Disney still had the original ending anywhere for them to include it. So, yeah, Greg didn't have any idea about the ending mixup.

It's possible BVHE fixes this error if they do a second run on the DVD. It could also be that come Season 2, Volume 2 there's a little blurb on there that talks about the incorrect ending and then presents the corrected version. Maybe an explanation given by Greg explaining the thing and then the last 5 minutes of the episode are shown.. unless there's room to squeeze the whole episode on the Vol. 2 release.

I kind of like the idea that some of the old animation mistakes seen only on the first run might be included. It brings back memories of the mailing list days when the episode aired for the first time and it started a bit of a discussion.

Are the mailing list archives anywhere? That'd be a nice thing to preserve. Scott Mecure might know. Does anyone else?

My fiance called me at work and he found me a copy at Suncoast! Yay!

I ordered three copies on Amazon for 3 different friends, one of whom needed a copy of Season One as well. (Amazon has a deal if you order both, naturally.) So I'm contributing to the Amazon effort too, despite my impatience.

Vows> I sincerely doubt that Greg Weisman knew that the original incorrect ending was going to be on the DVD. I'm sure he would have said something had he known, either to the people at BVHE or to us on the site. It's too bad and I would suggest anyone who has the episode on tape with the correct ending save it. (Ask me why I still have my VHS copy of "Beauty and the Beast" sometime.) But it is an honest mistake and a pretty small one compared to the omission of the pilot five-parters on DuckTales and Rescue Rangers.

Just got myself a copy of Gargs Season 2, Vol 1. but it was a challange. Went to Future Shop first - the place that's supposed to have it first and cheapest. Of course they had none. Went next doore to Best Buy(who owns Future shop, BTW, and they they had it *sighs with relief*. I talked it up with the salesperson and he did remember the show-which is a good thing. Found out they hadn't put it out on the shelf yet-and they had exactly 3 copies! I pointed out they should have more copies-and have it out front.

Also ordered a copy from Amazon too. enjoying "Leader of the Pack right now-woo wwoo!

I must say the menus on Season one were a lot nicer - but hey, it's the episodes I wanted. *hugs the DVDS*

lets not forget that animation errors do happen and many were never corrected (think about the infamous two Hudsons and a Bronx scene in Kingdom) obviously this is a bigger animation error, but as long as dialogue has not been changed, i think i can learn to live with it.

It turns out that my local Blockbuster's doesn't have the DVD and that Blockbuster's no longer does special orders, so I had to order mine from Amazon.com instead. Not the same as walking back home with a new copy in my hand, but at least I'll get it.

Howdy all - been a while since I've been here.

I grabbed a few copies of the DVD at Wal-Mart last night and placed a few orders on Amazon this morning. I'm a bit concerned about the sale of this DVD right now; our beloved season 1 DVD was #164 on Amazon's DVD sales ranking around this time on its opening day, but the season 2 set right now is at #286.

Here's hoping that improves, or that the retail sales will be much better.

DVD should be in stores today. They ship early so they're available on Tuesday.

Your best chance is to find a Best Buy. They seem to have DVDs out on time fairly consistently.

Wal-Marts (at least around where I live) are notoriously slow and you might not see the DVD on shelves until Friday or Saturday.

No, Greg didn't mention anything about the ending in the intro for "Vows". He talked about Xanatos getting married and the time travel.

D Taina> What do you mean "symbolism"... the correct ending had symbolism. The "wrong" ending was a great big animation error. Goliath and Demona embracing and that image fading into nothing is much more symbolic of the end of a relationship than their embrace being frozen on a clock.

If they've got the old Vows ending, I wonder if any other first-run versions of epsodes are in there that might have slight continuity issues that were fixed by the time the episode ran a second time. I think Greg mentioned that those second-round (fixed) episodes would be what went on the DVD.

They used the original ending for "Vows"! Yow! We'd probably better hang on to our old tapes for a while longer (not that that's reason enough not to buy the DVD, of course).

So today's the big day. I hope that I can buy a copy at the local Blockbuster's today (there's one within walking distance of my apartment), but if they don't have one out on the shelves, I can still ask them to order one for me.

Today's also St. Nicholas's Day, which prompts me to hope that Greg will get to tell that story about Santa Claus in the upcoming comic (particularly since I'm still curious as to how you can fit the guy into a serious drama-adventure series like "Gargoyles" - Santa still strikes me as being more likely to show up in "Duck Tales" or "Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers").

Appropriately enough (since "City of Stone" is the episode - well, multi-parter - on tomorrow's DVD that has the commentary on it), Greg answered a question of mine today about "City of Stone" involving Duncan and Maol Chalvim, and confirmed (or helped to confirm) a suspicion of mine that Duncan might have hurried up the end of Maol Chalvim's reign. It's one that I find amusingly appropriate (in a black comedy way), since the evidence is that Maol Chalvim had shared with Duncan his attitude of "Get rid of anyone in your way, with utter ruthlessness" - and evidently taught him too well - kind of like Xanatos with Thailog in "Double Jeopardy". (The spooky part of it is that, a few years ago, I came across a book entitled "Royal Scotland" about various past Scottish kings and queens, which mentioned that, in actual history, Maol Chalvim died at a place called Hunter's Hill.)

On Friday, the movie version of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" will be coming out. It's reported to open with the Blitz striking London (the cause of the Pevensies being sent away to the Professor's country house and discovering that wardrobe there); I wonder how many "Gargoyles" fans in the audience will catch themselves subconsciously searching for Goliath and Griff when the bombers strike. :) (Pity that "M.I.A." isn't on the DVD coming out tomorrow - we'll have to wait another year for that one.)
