Lol Jesse McCartney is 23yo, but I do agree that Scott Menville's Robin was really good, but Jesse's fits this Robin's personality more they're very different characters. I actually like the little laugh he does, and the little kidness of this Robin though.
Henry - [mysticvulcan at yahoo dot com]

What does everyone think about Jesse McCartney's work as Robin? All the other voice actors strike me as being perfect for their respective roles, but I think I'm just going to have to get used to McCartney's Robin. I am not some diehard Teen Titans fan or anything, but I have seen a lot of episodes of that show, and I got so fond of Scott Menville's Robin that it's hard to accept the voice of the Young Justice version of Robin. On the other hand, at least McCartney is somewhat close to Robin's age, whereas Menville is in his thirties.

Wow, the entitlement complex of "Cartoon Network should put this stuff online, I don't want to pay for cable or satellite!" Where do you think the money comes from that Cartoon Network pays to studios that pay to develop and produce shows like "Young Justice"? I'll give you a hint: it doesn't come from clicking on a link to YouTube.

I originally wrote this for my blog, and decided to paste it in here.

Young Justice

Well, what do you know? This is my one hundredth entry. Appropriate that it is about Greg Weisman's newest TV series.

Anyone who knows me knows I am a huge fan of Greg Weisman's work. "Gargoyles" is my all time favorite TV series; I adored "The Spectacular Spider-Man;" I was quite fond of the second season of "W.I.T.C.H.;" and the freelance scripts he wrote for shows like "Men In Black" and "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" were always fun.

Okay, I really hated "Max Steel" and couldn't watch more than one episode, but that show had all sorts of behind the scenes problems that were not his fault. And sadly, "Roughnecks: Star Ship Troopers Chronicles" never aired in my area, so I've never really seen it. But, overall, Greg Weisman is responsible for high quality television. So, I was greatly anticipating his newest series, "Young Justice."

"Young Justice" is loosely based on a DC Comics title by the same name, but draws from many other sources. It focuses on a group of sidekicks (but don't call them that) who band together to become a covert ops team connected to the Justice League. The stars of the show are Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Superboy, Miss Martian, and Artemis. Although, we have yet to meet Artemis and only briefly met Miss Martian.

The theme of the first season is "secrets and lies" and this is very apparent within the pilot already. The Justice League is keeping secrets from the members of Young Justice... which was enough to piss off Speedy, and get him to storm off. And Project Cadmus was keeping secrets from the rest of the world.

I love a good mystery, and we've got one set up with a shadowy organization called The Light, who were behind Project Cadmus. Although, I am somewhat reminded of the Illuminati from "Gargoyles" (Hmm... Light - illuminated - Illuminati) and the Council of Thirteen of the Guild of Calamitous Intent in "The Venture Bros." although, I highly doubt Davie Bowie is L-1.

The writing and dialogue are very sharp, and considering the pilot was penned by Mr. Weisman himself, that was to be expected. The animation is very strong, and I kept wondering what their budget was, because it looks great. The voice acting was also phenomenal, which is to be expected from any series voice directed by Jamie Thomason.

This series has just about everything going for it, and already, in my mind, blew the competition out of the water. Yes, I enjoy "The Avengers - Earth's Mightiest Heroes" quite a bit, but the quality of that show just doesn't compare to the quality of "Young Justice." The funny thing about that is that outside of Batman, and some Vertigo comics, I have no attachment to DC Comics at all. I've always been a Marvel reader. But Marvel has never had animated series as good as DC's, with the exception of "The Spectacular Spider-Man" which was just as great as "Batman the Animated Series." But then, look at who the mastermind behind Spidey was.

I give the pilot of "Young Justice" a solid five stars. It also left me intrigued enough to come back for more when the series really gets going in January.

Algernon> Heck,
Given all that, Dick and Wally are just way too iconic to completely ignore. Heck, Dick Grayson is probably the best known DC hero after Supes and Bats.

It was planned that Dick Grayson was going to be killed in Infinite Crisis rather than Kon-El. Said death was rejected for that very reason.
Landon Thomas - [<- Gargoyles News Twitter Feed]

Coren>
In regards to the Dick & Wally vs Tim & Bart argument, you got to keep in mind that Greg's been very clear that this isn't a straight up adaptation of the Young Justice comic. Rather it's a composite of 70+ years of DC's sidekick lore, cherry picking from various teams and eras, Including but not limited to the Peter David's "Young Justice" comics, various incarnations of the Teen Titans, The Justice League itself and the DC universe as a whole.

Given all that, Dick and Wally are just way too iconic to completely ignore. Heck, Dick Grayson is probably the best known DC hero after Supes and Bats. I like Tim Drake, but having him be Robin in a continuity where Dick Grayson never just feels wrong unless it's some kinda freaky Elseworlds story. Even Under the Red Hood which had the benefit of it's own continuity and a huge focus on Jason Todd, still made a point of acknowledging Dick Grayson as the original Robin.

As for Miss Martian, she's still a first generation sidekick in the sense she doesn't have a predeccesor like Tim or Bart (unless you count Zook, but that's seriousy stretching it).
Make a REAL "Gargoyles" movie, Disney!

Anyone notice how for Young Justice, a story all about freedom was set on July 4th? That was a nice subtle touch, just the sort of thing that Greg does so well.

And yes, I am very careful about GARGOYLES, and if there is something that I do not understand, I do some question here (in the GUIDELINES it is adivesed).

I am particular careful about news of the DVDs. I know there are not, for now, available in other countries. I really hope that Disney decides once for all to finish to release other DVDs and then to take them in other countries.

Cheese, it's as good an answer as any.

Rebel - Captain Atom, Greg's first comics writing gig: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Atom

If you find a YouTube clip, I say watch it. Just be sure to support the show later when you do have the chance, i.e. buy the DVDs or digital downloads. But please, never post a YouTube, torrent or any other copyright-infringing link on this message board. We don't want to attach this fandom to piracy in the minds of media companies.

Personally, I think YouTube is the single greatest advertiser for Gargoyles at the moment. It's hard to ignore that the pilot episode on YouTube currently has 347 thousand views. Disney just doesn't understand the implications of that yet.

Landon Thomas - [<- Gargoyles News Twitter Feed]

Chip > Watch it. Networks need to understand that viewing audiences these days need and demand an online option for watching their shows. If Cartoon Network fails to provide you with an "official" online option, then I think it's fine for you to watch it on Youtube. Do it quickly though, before it gets pulled. It's really good quality too.

Personally I'd rather watch Young Justice on Hulu or Cartoon Network's website or some other official site where they could force me to watch commercials. I hate commercials, but I know that ad revenue is how networks support themselves so I don't mind. But if they won't provide a place for me to watch online officially with ads, I'll find my own way, even if that means watching on youtube and not viewing any ads, thus not supporting the network. I'm not going to go out a buy a television and start paying for cable or satellite just for the sake of a handful of shows. If they start showing it on Hulu or other official site, I'll start watching it there. In the meantime...
Don't think anyone has mentioned this yet--but that moment when Kid Flash tears off Blockbuster's old face and says "Got your nose!" was SO funny and yet SO gross to me at the same time. Genius!

Also, who is that hero in the white suit with the glowing red thing on his chest that sorta looks like a heart?
Rebel

I also caught the Young Justice premiere. I thought it was pretty solid, although waiting til January is going to be annoying. There was one thing that bothered me..not really a spoiler, but I'll tag it anyway.
I know Greg has said that heroes are relatively new to this universe (and maybe that Superman only showed up 10 years ago and Batman 9...which to me isn't relatively new, but I'll roll with that. And because of the newness, Robin and Kid Flash are Dick and Wally - the first to hold their roles. And that sort of makes sense - except that there's an entirely new Aqualad (with a character modeled after him already debuted in DC proper), and that Miss Martian is added to the team at the end.

I get that this is separate continuity, and not everything will be the same as the original. But if anything, I'd think separate continuity is a very convenient excuse to skip straight to Bart and Tim ignoring Wally and Dick altogether (or having Wally as Flash and Dick as Nightwing, or whatever (heck even Dick as Batman - since apparently death isn't off the table)). Given that they're two of the three founders of the team, it seems more appropriate to me.

Also, there were numbers when Batman and the rest were scanned in. Batman got 2, I think it was 4 for Flash, Aquaman 6, Green Arrow 8, Martian Manhunter 7 and Red Tornado 16. Obviously Superman has 1, and Wonder Woman, Black Canary and Green Lantern have early numbers (being founding members or close to). But what about 10-15, who do you think has those numbers? I'd think Hawkman or Hawkgirl might come in that range, and maybe Captain Atom? Maybe John Stewart too?
I agree with Williams. It seems that English is not K7's first language. I think he was trying to say, "Is it not cool, that image?"

Personally, I am not a big fan of that poster but I appreciate K7 posting it here. He is showing his love and attention all things concerning the show and shouldn't be faulted for it.

K7> I think that poster is too bland. I can see how the artist is using the woman as Eliza but the eye in the back is to anonymous. A fan would recognize it as "Goliath" but a noob would not. Personally I like this poster more: http://fav.me/d23r5ws I hope that link works.

Someone posted the Pilot of Young Justice on Youtube, and now I'm torn. I REALLY want to watch it. On the other hand, I also REALLY want to support Greg's work, and he doesn't get paid for Youtube viewings. WHY couldn't they put it on Hulu? I don't have cable or satellite or any equivalent. What should I do?
Chip - [Sir_Griff723 at yahoo dot com]
Cheese, it's as good an answer as any.
I'm pretty sure I've only missed a total of two or three scenes. I missed whatever events and whatever dialog occur between Speedy's "Who cares which side of the glass we're on?" line (though I do know snippets from that sneak peek--when the Justice League tells the sidekicks they're not trained, and Kid Flash says "Since when?" and Batman says "Stay Put") and the scene where the guys have just entered Cadmus and Robin says something like "You handled it" to Aqualad.

It's not hard to figure out a general idea of what happened in that span of time. Basically, after Speedy delivers his "side of the glass we're on" line, he probably exchanged more words with the JL (probably Green Arrow in particular, but I'm not sure) then he probably said something really angsty and stormed out. Then when the JL leaves, the other guys probably complain, and then somehow they find out about Cadmus and decide to investigate. I am not, however, sure of the specifics so if anyone feels inclined to fill me in on the details of these scenes (whatever you can remember), I'd be very appreciative.
-" In tutti noi c' e' il bene e il male, sia negli umani che nei gargoyle..." - Goliath in Awakening part 5 (italian version)

Finally managed to catch "Independence Day," and...

Well, to be honest, it was so incredibly awesome that it may have melted my brain a little bit. XD
To start things off, unlike many of the people posting before me I AM a DC Comics geek (indeed, I must say that I vastly prefer its Universe as a whole to Marvel's and always will), so my comments will reflect that...

- Mr. Freeze, Icicle, Killer Frost, and Captain Cold launch nearly simultaneous attacks across the country, and to the League's credit they immediately figure out something's up with that. My guess is that the first iteration of the Secret Society of Super Villains/Injustic League/Legion of Doom/pick your poison has been covertly set up fairly recently in this Universe, which will give Young Justice an organized enemy to fight in addition (or possibly in tamdem) to this mysterious "Light."

- I...freaking...love...this...Aqualad. The cool delivery from Khary Payton (remarkably distinct from Cyborg, though their battle cries and impact grunts are nigh-identical), the badass power set, and the little verbal tics like constantly referring to Aquaman as "my King" (now that should make for some interesting drama once poor Kaldur'ahm learns of his true parentage) all combine for easily the coolest "Aqua-" related character ever to exist outside of the comics (although the OUTRAGEOUS! Aquaman from "Brave and the Bold" comes close).

- Speedy getting the Hell outta dodge after learning what their true reward on their "big day" was definitely had my sympathy (Kid Flash emphasizes this beautifully in the next scene by describing the Watchtower as "a secret HQ...IN SPACE!"). Looks like this both explains why Artemis will end up joining the team instead, and fortells the coming of Red Arrow rather earlier than usual in this continuity.

- I like how the writers decided to turn "side-kick" into a dirty word amongst the prospective Young Justice members. Speedy prefers "partner" (which, like his aforementioned storm-out, is perfectly in line with his character), while the others just seem to find the term generally degrading. And I got a real kick (pardon the pun, LOL) out of all the little jokes at the beginning over the characters' anonymity; no one in the general public seems to be able to remember poor Kid Flash's name, with one person in the crowd mistaking him as Speedy and decrying that name going to the archer instead to "make no sense" (now that made me laugh).

- The Genomorphs, particularly the "dwarf" psychic ones, had me in chills. As did Mark Desmond (recognized him immediately, mostly by the rather conspicuous "Blockbuster" vials shown in his first scene), sporting a rather twisted version of the voice the same actor used for the Mechanist in "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and using said dwarf Genomorphs to keep Guardian's mind under lock and key. On the other hand, this notion of them achieving sentience as a hive mind - and proclaiming Superboy as their possible savior - has me heavily intrigued.

- Superboy himself is an excellent take on the often cliche-ridden clone concept. He's been taught to hold Superman up as a perfect ideal (sensical, given that he was designed to replace him in role and function), leading to an in-universe dropping of the phrase "What Would Superman Do?" being the catalyst for his change of heart. But now that Superman (who, of course, knows nothing about dealing with kids, as Supergirl is conspicuously absent from this Universe) has tried to dodge the semi-parental responsibility he really should have to him, it looks like the proto-Connor Kent is stuck in permanent teen rebellion mode...up to 11. This is obviously going to lead to some real problems down the line; hopefully, however, not nearly as severe as his Earth-Prime counterpart.

- Tons and tons and tons of mythology gags riddled throughout these two episodes, to the point where I can't even remember half of them. I love it when writers show their work and their research, and Greg Weisman never fails to deliver on both counts. Particular highlights included Superboy's immature powers not including flight and heat vision - in other words, being at the level of the Golden Age Superman, whereas the adult powers of the original Kal-El are at his more well-known Silver Age levels - and Kid Flash's reference to Flash always taking his time at crime scenes to get chummy with everyone, the villain included...which, of course, has always been Barry Allen's trademark to a "T." Though be warned, Wally; if your character development proceeds anything like your mainstream counterpart, you'll eventually end up doing the exact same thing.

- As has been noted plenty of times already, the voice acting, scoring, and animation quality is absolutely superb throughout. The entirety of both episodes appear to be produced at roughly the same level as the recent DC Animated films, which is just tremendous. Here's hoping that the series remains comparable to the standards set here once in resumes in January.
And with that, I take my leave of noting the wonderful intricacies of this unbelievably incredible show until Episode 3 rolls around next year. So until next time...

I also managed to catch it.
Like others here, I've never been much of a DC fan and know very little about that universe. Out of the Justice League, half I've never even heard of, a quarter I only know by name and the remaining quarter I still don't know a ton about. But, the fact that Greg W was involved made me inclined to watch, afterall, I really got into Spectacular Spider-Man so who knows.

I almost hate to admit this, but for the most part I was a little underwhelmed by the episode bordering on just "whelmed". A large part of that is just that Marvel always had more appeal to me because the DC characters tended to be more unbelievable, cliche and tacky. So I suppose the real problem for me wasn't the writing (which was very good, I could hear Greg Weisman in a lot of lines) or the animation (which I felt was a great mix of classic comic book meets action cartoon), it was the source material. I didn't really feel I could really get into it.

Still, I'll probably continue to watch new episodes as they come out. Maybe I'll get more wrapped up in it as I watch more. *shrugs*

Oh, and I have to admit that I laughed out loud at the: "He hacked the motion sensors...", "I hacked the motion sensors!" scene. Very well delivered with great comedic timing.
Wow. I had high expectations for Young Justice, but this took them all and WAY surpassed it.
One thing I really liked was the emphasis on realism. I know Greg said they'd be doing their best with that, but all the small touches really stood out to me, such as Kid Flash skidding after he had climbed up the wall some, or Robin and Kid wincing in pain after they do a high five at the end.

One of my favorite lines (there was many, but here's one_

"He hacked the motion detectors."

"I hacked the motion detectors."

It sounds simple, but the delivery by the voice actors just made me laugh really hard.
I could go on about how everything else was amazing, but I leave it at that and go to bed right now. ;)

Young Justice: As I think I've previously mentioned, I have virtually the tiniest of knowledge regarding any of the DC properties (which can pretty much be summed up as the name of the characters and maybe an origin story or two), nevertheless, I wanted to give the show a shot, because obviously, good ol' Greg Weisman is working on it :)

So fair warning that I'm probably going to be pretty noobish about a few things . . .
Show starts with the action already hitting the screen, which for me really emphasizes this feeling that I'm about to get a crash course in all things DC Comics. We also get FOUR ice villains, of which I can only identify one: Mr. Freeze (and I never even SAW that movie).

Having heard of only Metropolis and Gotham City in regards to DC properties, I found it just slightly jarring that the show used real city settings like Pearl Harbor and Washington DC (I would have guessed that the Justice League "headquarters" was in Metropolis) . . . and having never heard of Star City (thank you time/location stamps! ) which I guess I should take as a San Franisco look-a-like. In my next lesson in DC, I guess not every city is fictional d:

Never heard of Speedy before, but getting the vibe he's not going to be part of the Young Justice group, I hope we see him soon . . . his view is a nice contrast to the other characters . . .

Side thought: Robin is a LOT less annoying than I think I ever gave him credit for, lol.

Rebel -- See, I don't get the vibe that Aqualad is being set up for the leader just yet, but I'm enjoying his role as the Voice of Reason . . . at the very least, he's at least the more cautious and focused of the three (now four).

I've never heard of Desmond before this show (his first name or his last?), and I gotta say he's a special kind of "out there" (and that was before he became Blockbuster, just one of many villains/DC characters I have zero previous knowledge about). I hope he's back in future episodes, as he had me glued to the set for whatever reason (voice actor, the character model, his motivations -- I don't know, but it worked).

Red Tornado not saying anything in his two scenes make me curious . . . I doubt this is another "Hobie Brown (or even Emily Osbourne)" bit, but knowing that Greg was not so very long ago working on a limited Red Tornado series (before it got pulled), the curiosity remains :)

Definitely think I caught Electro (Crispin Freeman as Guardian) and Tombstone (Kevin Michael Richardon as Martian Manhunter) . . . definitely didn't recognize Phil LaMarr as Aquaman or even Crispin Freeman as Speedy however . . .

Count me in as someone who also got vibes of Goliath/Thailog when Superman saw Superboy . . . the similarities are pretty superficial but hey, I know I wouldn't be that thrilled upon discovering that that someone (or some group) cloned me without my consent >_>

And speaking of former series memories popping up: couldn't help but think of TSS-M when the four YJers were getting Blockbuster to bring down the roof (with episodes "Market Forces" and "Accomplices" coming to mind). But of course, taking out support structures is no doubt Super Hero Antics 101, much like the Manhattan Clan enjoyed the Wronksi Feint so much ;)

Lines I liked:

Mr. Freeze: "I like these moments to last forever"

As Robin broke free and he said "Sheesh, Batman would kill me if he realized I took that long..."

Kid Flash had a few:
"How -- how did you do that?"
"At least I didn't call him an 'it'"?
"Why does HE get to call him an 'it'"?
"Pshh -- He reeeally doesn't like to be called an 'it'"

And of course, Superboy's:
"Well it seems I don't have heat vision, so I guess helping is my only option." (the squint was awesome once I put two and two together) d:

Don't know if it was supposed to be an in-joke or not -- probably another coincidence as I have no previous knowledge of the character and his prefered choice of weaponry -- but I definitely thought Gargoyles when Aqualad fashion a mace to attack Blockbuster ;)
Overall, the animation was great, voice acting was top notch as far as I can tell . . . and of course, there was plenty of groundwork laid out for future episodes. Great stuff, I do hope to catch this in January :)

Oh, and I have NO clue if its my computer and its various cookies, the browser I'm using (Google Chrome) or Gore's magic on this site, but I accidentally clicked out of my unfinished post figuring I lost everything I just wrote, with the sad gesture of clicking the back arrow only to find everything still written down. A sigh of relief and a quick chance to copy everything I just wrote down (can't rule out it was a fluke).
Was able to catch a few more minutes of Young Justice the second time around that I missed earlier, and upon a second viewing of what I saw before, and it looks like Aqualad *is* being established as the obvious leader of the team. Robin is a great strategist and clearly bright, but still immature.
Rebel

Well I missed the first 15/20 minutes of Young Justice, but between the sneak peek that got posted online as well as some of the other scenes I saw, I felt like I was pretty much up to speed.

This isn't so much a review, as it is my thoughts and observations about the show.
I'm liking the relationship that's developing between Robin and Kid Flash. They are clearly going to be buddies, even if Robin does use the nickname "Kid Mouth" for his new friend.

Didn't like Robin's "whelm" jokes. Not that they weren't funny, it's just that it was done before in "10 Things I Hate About You." Or some other teeny bopper movie, can't remember.

The animation. GORGEOUS. I could sit there with the sound off and watch this show and still enjoy myself, though obviously I'd enjoy it more with the sound on.

A bit annoyed that Miss Martian appeared at the end of the pilot rather than being included all along, and even more annoyed that Artemis wasn't in the pilot at all. I can sorta understand why it might be a bit unwieldy to start off with the entire team right away, but why is it that the two members who weren't included initially both happen to be the female members? Grrr. Also a bit annoyed that Miss Martian's first appearance shows her being eye candy for a couple of the guys, rather than kicking ass.

From the part of the show that I saw, it doesn't look like Aqualad is being set up as the obvious, "natural leader" like Brooklyn was in Gargoyles. So far it looks like one of Aqualad's positive traits is the ability to empathize/motivate. The others try, but ultimately it's Aqualad who is able to convince Superboy that remaining at Cadmus isn't in his best interests. The ability to keep a team together and motivate others is key in a leader. And Aqualad is the one who ultimately spoke everyone else's thoughts to Batman, defending the actions of him and his new team. Yet, in the final battle against that Blockbuster thing, Robin is the one calling the shots. Interesting. I'm looking forward to watching the team develop and Aqualad emerge as its leader.

Superboy--kid definitely doesn't like to take orders, or have his individuality or humanity called into question. His first encounter with Superman was, IMO, somewhat reminiscent of Thailog and Goliath's first encounter. No, Superman didn't openly condemn Superboy or call him an abomination or anything, but his eyes said it all, and I think Batman said what Superman was thinking. Superboy clearly cared a lot about Superman's approval and Superman's reaction to him was obviously a disappointment. I think that reaction is going to mar their relationship with each other for quite a while. Superman makes an effort to be civil to the boy after he's gotten over the shock but by that point it's already too late. The damage is done. I'm hoping that Superboy's lack of heat vision and inability to fly has to do with his biological age or lack of experience in the real world rather than him being completely unable to do those things.

Loved it when Superboy narrowed his eyes at the other three guys and said "Well it seems I don't have heat vision, so I guess helping is my only option." That was clever! And I love KF calling him "Soupy." Kinda wish the genetic material from KF, Aqualad, and Robin hadn't been destroyed. Could have made for an interesting story later on down the road. Oh well.

I like this Dr X character. Hope to see him again. I'm sure we will. Definitely curious about these "light" people, especially since I think I might have missed key information about them.

While there's a few things that bugged me overall I really enjoyed Young Justice and I'm looking forward to it airing regularly. I think it's going to be so great to watch these stories unfold.

I don't actually have a TV at my own home but I'm currently at my family's house for Thanksgiving so that's how I was able to watch the last 40 minutes or so of Young Justice (missed the beginning). Not sure how I'm going to watch the show when it starts airing in January and I don't know when/how I'll get a chance to watch the 15/20 minutes that I missed. I REALLY wish Cartoon Network would provide some kind of "official" online means of watching the show. I don't even care if I have to sit through Hulu-style ads, I just want to be able to see it and don't own a TV and couldn't normally watch TV during Prime Time even if I had one.

Yeah, for a first episode that was fantastic. Justice League took a season or two to get its footing but Young Justice looks great and amazingly fleshed out from day 1 (which is July 4th, as clearly indicated). Those time stamps are an awesome feature.

You wouldn't happen to know if Young Justice will be on Hulu or some other similar site would you? I don't have cable/sat so i have no way to watch it except online. (I had the same problem with Spectacular Spider-man)

Grr. Arg.

I was rewatching gargoyles episodes and made a note of who said one of the quotes I find more interesting. In ReAwakening, Brooklyn said we live above a police station/clock tower and what could happen when in response to gargoyles can no more stop protecting the castle than breathing the air at the beginning of the episode. I find that interesting because of what happened during Hunter's Moon.

Thanksgiving is such a fun holiday. Turkey & more turkey. Of course, I've tried cooking turkey burgers, but they're always so bland without condiments that it's pathetic and if you add the condiments, you're defeating the healthiness of the turkey burgers.

I'm not gonna lie...that is one bloody awesome wall. XD

I recognize a bunch of DCAU DVDs on the top row, plus the last two volumes of Avatar: The Last Airbender...though it does make me wonder where the first one is, LOL.

And while I've never been a big fan of Blu-Ray (I'm more of a standard definition guy, honestly), that is definitely a case worthy of displaying the greatest film of all time.

Yeah, I love the LOTR extended edition. The big, white box is my Blu-ray set of "Casablanca."

The comic piece will look awesome framed, I'll bet.

You and I also both have some of the same movies, it seems. The extended special edition of Lord of the Rings is the most obvious.

I also have that exact same poster on the wall behind me, currently.

On the other wall, I have a framed poster of Jennifer L. Anderson's "Evil Shouldn't Look This Good" Demona piece. Signed by Jen, Greg Weisman, Greg Guler, and Marina Sirtis.

I also have three inked comic pages from #5, including Goliath and Elisa's kiss. I need to get those framed and put up as soon as possible.

That's cool. I have that same poster hanging a few feet from me right now. I had it framed a couple years ago to protect it. I also had my other Gargoyles poster framed. It is a poster of Coldstone, Goliath and Elisa that I got by mailing in my proof of purchase of the Season 1 episode VHS way back in the day. I believe the same image is on the "Brothers Betrayed" VHS. I've always wondered how rare the poster is since I've never seen or heard about another one. It is pretty cool though, it is somewhat 3D and a bit larger than the standard Gargoyles poster. Anyone else have one of these or know about them?

PHIL> Well, we have a medium-sized fanbase, and we've always made a lot of noise. Thanks for sharing that.
Greg Bishansky

The latest issue of Twenty Three (published by D23 the official Disney Fan Club) has an article about twenty-five years of Disney Television Animation. Has it really been that long since The Gummi Bears and The Wuzzles debuted? I actually remember that Saturday morning. Both shows were on at the same time on different channels, and I had to decide which one to watch.

Anyway, Gargoyles rated an entire paragraph in the story:

"Breaking from tradition, the studio launched Gargoyles, an episodic series that followed nocturnal guardians who transform from stone to protect New York from a coterie of ne'er-do-wells. It was the first Disney animated series to target the slightly older demographic of tween-age boys, who proved to be a fervent fan base; the series lived beyond TV with a Disney Adventures comic and a comic book series produced by both Marvel and Slave Labor Graphics."

It's interesting that Disney (or at least D23) recognizes the fan base and acknowledges the existence of the comics. It's a good sign, I think.

I think some of the slowness might also stem from an uncertainty over what to talk about. We started off with the Top Ten - no additional remarks in those posts beyond the count-up. So once the tenth post was reached, no topics to discuss, meaning that everyone most likely has to wait around waiting for someone else to come up with something.

It probably doesn't help matters much that these days, we don't have much new to discuss concerning "Gargoyles", with the comic book over and no headway on starting another one. We've had one or two moments of excitement (most recently, Goliath's cameo in "Darkwing Duck"), but most of the time, no big changes. Probably the bulk of the news here has been non-"Gargoyles" (such as the approach of "Young Justice"). And until that changes, I suspect that the comment room will be in a lull.

Yes. It is a good article, but nothing groundbreaking for me. I know most of the hardcore canon Gargoyles fans have held the opinions expressed in the article for years. And I'm certainly in that boat.

Of course that doesn't stop me from procrastinating by coming here or fiddling around on the GargWiki.

I chalk the slowness up to Thanksgiving preparations (at least for those of us here in the States).
