HAPPY CANADA DAY, EVERYONE!!!
Battle Beast - [Canada]
That is all I will say.

Are we all messaging Disney Home Entertainment which is disneyinfo@disneyhelp.com to remind them of how excited we are for the DVD releases of Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 and Gargoyles Season 3 this year?

Have you thought about using kickstarter as a means of either 'A' getting the next DVD out or 'B' furthering the comic book? It would be a great way for the fans to put their money where their mouths are and potentially getting the franchise up and running again. Just a thought.

Thanks

Jonny : It's still tentative. When that changes, you'll know.

Is Disney releasing Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 and Gargoyles Season 3 both on DVD this year and are they still tentatively set to be released this year? I am excited and looking forward to the DVD releases of Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 and Gargoyles Season 3 this year to complete the series.

Fantagraphics Books has just published "Only A Poor Old Man", tie first in a series of reprints of Carl Barks' Scrooge McDuck stories. (They already came out, a few months before, with "Lost in the Andes", the first in a similar series of reprints of Barks' Donald Duck stories.)

I just bought a copy and enjoyed it. Many of the stories, including the title one, might seem familiar to "Duck Tales" fans, though with enough differences from their televised adaptations to make them new.

Got the DVD(s) today. I was really happy about it. After some problems my PC was able to play them, but the quality is horrible (which is probably my PCs fault) and there's no sound. I can't play it on my newer PC since it has no DVD drive. Now I think I'll just buy a mini DVD player... ~_~

Battle Beast: yes, TV Shows On DVD.com announced a number of months ago that Disney had joined the ranks of MOD DVD services, and although no TV shows were on the schedule, it would likely not be far off.

BTW, For Disney XD Canada Viewers. Although they have showed "The Journey" from The Goliath Chronicles ones before, they've not aired the other episodes. It appears that they're finally going to do it. Airing on their weekend slots at 4am beginning July 1st. Not sure when the rest will air-as the rest of the July schedule hasn't been posted. (Yes, I know they're on youtube and people hate them, blah blah blah-but for those who might want to record them, you'll finally have your chance). watch the disneyxd.ca site for the updates.

The Warner Archive (Which I use frequently) is an amazing service, and Disney is JUST getting started in the MOD business. It is entirely possible that they will be releasing Gargoyles with their Disney Generations MOD program.

Yes, Still tentative.

K Wable> "Back in the day" yes the season 2 vol 2 etc were cancelled due to not reaching whatever number disney had in mind for sales of vol 1. Though I think that is a bit of a catch 22 since i know people who were waiting for vol 2 to buy them together hence not buying when just vol 1 was out... but I digress.

Having said that, there are mentions of disney releasing them tentatively this year. Though until there is a concrete announcement, it is all still "tentative."
There are rumors that Disney is simply planning on doing a disc on demand service with their archive collection (just like WB started doing) and it is through that type of service that the gargoyles dvd (along with other older shows) will be released. But again, all that is just rumor and speculation until an announcement is beyond beyond the 'tentative' mumblings.

It was a misunderstanding and confusion that it happened in 2006 about they had cancelled the release of Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 and Season 3 in 2006. Do you understand that I read on Open Vault Disney Facebook Page that the emails from Walt Disney Home Entertainment shared by various members about Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 and Gargoyles Season 3 are still tentatively set to be released sometime this year. and we are close to our first serious victory.

That sounds like progress to me. I've heard that Disney had originally canceled the release of season 2 volume 2 of Gargoyles. I wonder what made them change their mind? Anyway, I hope this means that they are considering production for a season 3 (the one that's following greg's original script). I also hope the comic series will start up again. In the last rant Weisman mentioned something about working on a script for something but that he rather not say at the moment. I hope he was hinting what I think he's hinting. ;)
It appears that the Gargoyles fan base is perhaps reaching the Walt Disney company (at least I hope so).

@Comet

The Gargoyles DVD from Amazon are Region 1 DVDs. Your DVD rom drive in your PC should have the ability to change region, but please keep in mind you can only do this 5 times and THAT'S IT.

Region 1 covers U.S., U.S. Territories, Canada, and Bermuda. If your PC was made any of those places, you should be good to go. Since you live in Germany and if your PC was made in Germany, then your DVD rom is probably set to Region 2.

Also, I hope your computer came with some sort of program that enables you to watch DVDs on it. Windows Media Player MIGHT be able to do it, but I've had trouble with it. A really good program is VLC Media Player. I love it and use it all the time.

Good luck!

I had a "Gargoyles"-related dream last night. I can only remember it vaguely, but it involved Demona scheming about something in England, with Goliath and his clan having difficulties getting involved to stop her since they were in New York (the dream didn't bring up the London clan), but Macbeth being present. At the end of the dream, Demona was on a bus (in gargoyle form - why she took it in that state, I can't imagine) with the only other person on board being the driver - who turned out to be Macbeth in disguise.

I won't even try to make sense of it.

MASTERDRAMON> I must admit, I'm curious to know who those other formerly off-limits characters were but I doubt Greg would reveal that while the show's still airing.
Algernon

Tj louis: Assuming you mean DC Comics characters, the best information we have is from this post:

http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?qid=13435

Specifically, this excerpt:

"The reasons for an approval or lack there of, have to do with various legal, strategic and financial issues, which I am NOT privy to. When we began Young Justice, we asked - more or less - for everyone. The entire DC Universe. And that's pretty much what we got. There were, at the beginning of the process, a handful of characters that were declared off-limits, and - because I've admitted this previously - I'll acknowledge that one of those was Wonder Girl. Since then, all restrictions have been lifted."

As you can see, the base answer is...few, if any, characters from the main DC Universe are off-limits at this point. Now, there are a handful which DC generally doesn't like to cross-over with their other properties much, such as Dream, the Endless, and other characters associated with Neil Gaiman's "Sandman," and I'd be very surprised to see such characters in "Young Justice." Same with John Constantine, Rorschach, probably Swamp Thing, etc...

But beyond that, I'd say mostly every DC character is open for use in "Young Justice," should a script call for them to take a role.

Comet> Here are some videos of snowfall/blizzards in Southern Norway around Easter and early May:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PC1_oeLCn3I
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iz9Ss04sn_s

I'm betting the portion of Norway visited in the Tour was more to the north and at higher elevation than those videos.

I'd also point out the extremely long periods of sunlight during that time of the year for such latitudes. If the travelers had actually been a fair bit above the Arctic Circle, such as at the North Cape or near Tromsø, they would have had 24 hours of daylight to deal with. As such, Angela and Bronx were likely asleep for a rather lengthy number of hours, picking up ice that entire time.

COMET> Like I said, I'm only going of what Google tells me so I can't say what kind of snowfall is typical in Norway at that time of the year. Unless someone more knowledgeable about the Norwegian climate chirps up, I'm inclined to give the episode the benefit of the doubt.
Algernon

I mean Goliath's xD Sorry, mixed it up.
I should rewatch that episode....

Comet
I'm shipping off...to find my wooden leg!

Maybe, but the whole landscape is covered in huge masses of snow, like in the deepest of winter, also Angela and Bronx have a thick icesheet over their sleeping bodies until they awake in one scene (but okay, at this moment Odin's weather magic is already active).
Comet
I'm shipping off...to find my wooden leg!

From what Google tells me, May snowfalls are not unknown in Norway, particularly in the more mountainous areas. Though I imagine it varies from year to year.
Algernon

Um, that made me think about something else... on that Avalon world tour station in Norway it was May, almost June, so why did it snow? :O I think it probably adds some atmosphere to the episode, but I still wonder... was that natural weather, or was it maybe caused by Odin? Since even in Norway it shouldn't look like this at the edge of summer.

PAUL> Yeah, Demona has no bellybutton. At least she doesn't in the episodes that are well animated. In some of her appearances in episodes not well animated, it's there. Of course this is off model.
Greg Bishansky - [<--- Greg's Blog of Clue-by-Fours]
"Brave words for a man who hides his face behind a hood." - Goliath, "The Journey."

I'm pretty sure that Demona has a visible navel in human form and doesn't in gargoyle form. And her loincloth covers the same amount of flesh in both forms.
Paul - [nampahcfluap@yahoo.com]

>comet

lol. I found an answer to that while scrolling the archives :( (navel)

I didn't know such a thing existed beyond mammal and reptile without being a hybrid. (I guess I just learned something new).
Hm...it's fascinating that anything beyond mammals would be able to have a navel. Interesting stuff.
I should probably read up more on my biology.

Thanks everyone for clarifying it for me.

K. Wable

Comet> I object to the term "primative" since platypuses have capabilities that no other animal has.

Also, platypuses DO have navels. As do certain large species of crocodilians, so while gargates having or not having navels is not an issue for me, there IS precedence in oviparous animals for belly buttons.

Chip - [Sir_Griff723@yahoo.com]

Sorry for double posting...
The platypus is not a hybrid (seriously?!), it is just a very "primitive" mammal.

Comet
I'm shipping off...to find my wooden leg!

Gargoyles are Gargates. They are no mammals, no reptiles, and no birds.
In my opinion, Gargates are a therapsid branch that evolved before therapsids became mammals, so they are closely related to mammals, but not more. We had a very interesting discussion about that some months ago, but I'm not sure anymore when that was.
About the navel question: for me they have none.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Therapsida

Oh, I think the countdown is broken. :/

Comet
I'm shipping off...to find my wooden leg!

So last night when I went to bed something crossed my mind because I had recently made a fan art of Goliath. It occurred to me that I have never seen or noticed if Gargoyles have navels.

They're hatched from eggs and have dragon features. So a quick assumption is that they are reptilian, but I've read in one of the "ask greg" archives that Gargoyles suckle their young which would make them mammals.
So my point is, you need an umbilical cord in order to have a navel which I'm assuming all mammals have, but gargoyles are hatched similar to reptiles, but are clearly mammals. So the debate is to have or not to have a navel? that is the question.

I have read also that the platypus is an egg laying mammal. I assume this animal is warm blooded and nurses since this is the case, but the egg laying is a little weird. Perhaps this proves it is possible to be a hybrid species. What does everyone else think?

After all, it's hard to tell if gargoyles have navels due to their loincloths being high up on their waist.
