Re April Fool's Day - I might also point out that this year I was careful to skip questions that I thought I could answer substantively. I only "fooled" questions that would have - in essence - received non-answers of one kind or another anyway.
Greg Weisman

Todd: I might agree if we were back in one of those eras where Greg was a year or more behind in the queue.

As it is, there's nothing being asked these days that couldn't stand to wait another few months to get re-answered sincerely.

And if the asker doesn't even bother to repost - as "Rain Fan No Longer" refused to - then that's their own fault.

PHOENICIAN - [I'm also late on mentioning this, but (as usual) I got a serious kick out of reading this year's batch of April Fool's responses by Greg :)]

I'm not quite as keen on those, I'm afraid. If they were all in response to frivolous questions (such as requests for more Earth-16 trivia that keep being asked over and over), I wouldn't have any trouble with them, but when they come in response to legitimate questions that simply had the misfortune of becoming first in the queue on April Fool's Day, that does become kind of tough on the person who asked those. (One person was so angry about his question being answered that way, I noticed, that he left a blistering reply in the queue the day after, and while the snarky tone suggested that he'd have probably wound up offended by something else anyway, it did have a point.)

Hufflepuffs are really good finders

I found a Comic/sports Cards store today that has about one dozen boxes of the "SkyBox" Gargoyles trading cards. I think next pay day Im going to go and buy one of them. If anyone else wants one... let me know.

I initially pre-ordered my copy of Rain of the Ghosts from Amazon, but I've additional copies from Barnes & Noble as gifts for the holidays . . .

I bought it at my local Barnes & Noble. I still see it there when I go.

Here's the problem with most fanfic writers: they seem to think Dominique is a second life. It isn't. Demona spelled it plainly in "High Noon." She's a gargoyle. Dominique is just a tool to help her in her goals. She'll use the form because she changes into a human, whether she likes it or not, but Dominique is not another life for her.

This post was inspired by Greg's recent mention at "Ask Greg" that "Rain of the Ghosts" hadn't sold as well as he'd hoped.

I do most of my book-buying at an independent bookstore called Left Bank Books, a few blocks from my apartment building. When I went there last December to look for a copy, I didn't see any on the shelves in the young adult section, so I had to go to the desk and order it. I haven't seen any more copies on the shelves since then; as far as I know, the copy I ordered and bought might have been the only one that ever entered the store.

Later in December, I went to a Barnes & Noble, and did see a copy of "Rain of the Ghosts" in the young adult section, though I didn't count to see if it was the only one or not. But Greg's post reminded me of that - and prompted this question:

How many of you have seen a copy of "Rain of the Ghosts" out in the bookstores (whether in the young adult section or elsewhere)? Have you had to specially order a copy from the bookstore, as I did? (Of course, some might have ordered it from Amazon without checking any of the bookstores.)

http://mashable.com/2014/04/09/heartbleed-bug-websites-affected/?utm_cid=mas

Just leaving this here for everyone's benefit. If you've got sensitive information attached to any of the websites that have now patched vulnerabilities to the Heartbleed bug (Facebook, Tumblr, Yahoo, Google), you should change those passwords immediately.

If you've got sensitive information attached to a website not on this list, but that has been confirmed to be vulnerable or to have been vulnerable in the past (examples include Comixology and Flickr from my initial research), I would advise waiting until those sites make a statement that they have similarly patched themselves. Otherwise, a new password is just as vulnerable as the old one.

Keep informed, and keep alert.

Adam> Yeah, I've thought that was a distinct possibility. Also can see the new Wyvern Clan being an offshoot of the Avalon Clan.

Anyone else think it would be cool to have one of Broadway and Angela's children be one of the driving forces behind recolonizing Wyvern and the forming of the future Wyvern Clan?

I read about the pro-geocentric movie Jurgan mentioned at the blog of the guy who used to draw the "Nodwick" comic (and now does "P.S. 238").

I read about Soho (the region of London where the "Into the Mystic" shop stands) in "Brewer's Britain and Ireland" (which I mentioned last week). A few things I learned:

1. It was originally hunting territory until late Stuart times when plenty of houses began going up there (and presumably shops). I don't know if there's any significance in the architecture of Knight's Spur looking late Stuart. (There were some houses in Soho earlier, but largely belonging to the aristocracy.)

2. When Soho became a residential area in the late 17th century, the bulk of its inhabitants were French immigrants (mostly Huguenots who'd left France after Louis XIV revoked the Edict of Nantes), though other immigrants from mainland Europe settled there. I don't know how many of them were interested in shopping at the London clan's shop.

3. Soho's long had a bohemian atmosphere - to the point where it developed quite a reputation for vice in the latter half of the 20th century. (I can only guess what the London clan thought of that.)

4. William Blake and Karl Marx both lived in Soho. I wonder whether Blake ever met the gargoyles; based on what I know of him, I doubt he'd have found them alarming. (Certainly the London gargoyles were no weirder than a lot of the things he drew.) As for Marx - that's anyone's guess (as with how his social-economic theories went down with the gargoyles running the shop).

So, has anyone else heard about the controversy with Kate Mulgrew, aka Anastasia Titania Renard? (I'm pretty sure I saw Patrick mention it on tumblr). Apparently some sort of anti-science group called "Galileo was Wrong" tricked her into narrating a movie promoting geo-centrism. Yes, a Star Trek actor is involved in claiming the sun orbits the earth. To be fair, it looks like she was just hired on and didn't realize the context of the movie, and has since apologized.

I didn't look it up, but I feel Greg has addressed that. or at least implied that they'd return by then. Afterall, those eggs won't hatch until nearly two years after they left. Even if Jade and Turquesa take their time on Avalon and have a few stops on the way home, I can't see them being gone much longer than Goliath and Co. were.

It reminds of two other related questions: Were Jade and Turquesa allowed to take their Pendents on to the island? And why has Greg suggested that Zafiro would retrieve the Mayan Sun Amulet from Manhattan rather than Jade and Turquesa on their way home?

Sorry, I meant to say has Greg (not great, although he is) ever said if Turquesa and Jade return to Guatemala before the clans eggs hatched.

Hey all!

I have now returned from Kawaii Kon 2014. Among the guests I got to meet there was Jim Cummings, who did the Dingo voice at my request. Very cool to know that he still remembers it, between all his hundreds of other myriad roles.

Posted a pic of his autograph on my Flickr along with the rest of my "acquisitions":

Hi all. Been a while since I have checked out the comment room. How is everyone doing?

With the London clan, I wonder if one of the reasons they are more accepted than the Manhattan clan by humans is because they don't really look like "demons"?

Also, has great ever said if Turquesa and Jade return from Avalon before their clans' eggs hatch? I think trying to look after 20-40 young with just 2 adults would be trying after a time.

COMET - This is the first I've heard about viewers mistaking the London clan for talking animals rather than gargoyles. (The closest I've seen to that was the occasional question about how the London clan members feel about eating the kind of animals they resemble - say, what Staghart's response would be to eating venison.)

TODD> I'm reminded of various "weird fiction" writers' attempts to reconstruct Robert W. Chambers infamous (and fictional) cursed play The King in Yellow or H. P. Lovecraft's Necronomicon.

Even the better written ones tend to leave one thinking "Wait, THAT'S what all the fuss was about?"

Something that bothers me: Why do some fans fail to see that the London Gargoyles are normal Gargoyles and not anthropomorphic animals? I've seen some people claim these Gargoyles WERE the animals they resemble. I shit you not.

I felt a quiver of alarm when I first read Bishansky's post, followed by relief when I clicked on the link and saw it was just a fan-joke. For a moment, I feared that Greg Weisman had finally revealed the truth - which I'd hoped he never would do (since I don't think the truth could ever live up to all the speculation).

Here's a "Gargoyles" story that should never be made: a debate issues over whether gargoyle hatchlings should be admitted to school or not (the writers are so unfamiliar with "Gargoyles", presumably, that they didn't realize that unless the school's being held at night, it's a moot point) - and the media promptly christens the gargoyle hatchlings at the center of the debate "Little Rocks".

At long last, what Titania whispered to Fox has finally been revealed.
