I always thought Thailog was a lot more like Frankenstein's monster than Coldstone. Sure, Coldstone was brought to life through the campy "It's alive!" scene, but Thailog is the one who betrayed his master. Thailog was created through Xanatos's and Sevarius's hubris, and by not raising him properly they created a monster they were unable to control.

I just checked that review of "Future Tense", and it indeed brought new light to that story - -particularly how so much of it was a reflection of Goliath's deepest fears (such as the return to a New York changed almost out of recognition through many years was an echo of Goliath's awakening in a world a thousand years after the Wyvern Massacre and almost unrecognizable, or the slaughter of almost all of his clan was an echo of the devastation of the Wyvern Massacre).

Dread's commentaries were not boring, but I do agree that there were only a few that I found particularly interesting. Future Tense, for example, where he dissected the piece and what it represented more thoroughly than I'd ever seen.

Okay... that's pretty cool. Even though the coloring is off, the wing arms seem a bit too insectile and the wing piercings seem too large to enable gliding, it is an awesome job.

As lovely as it is to see the glowing praise Gargoyles deserves, I'm not sure it's been the most thrilling commentary. Then again, it's probably because I'm far too familiar with the series at this point for anyone to say anything SO new that it blows me away.

Fun Fact: The graphic novel "I, Frankenstein" was written by Kevin Grevioux who played Black Beetle in Young Justice. From what I've read the man seems quite intelligent so I'm wondering if his stuff doesn't transition well into film or whether the problems of the film rest on the shoulders of the director.

Here's the problem with most fanfic writers: they seem to think Dominique is a second life. It isn't. Demona spelled it plainly in "High Noon." She's a gargoyle. Dominique is just a tool to help her in her goals. She'll use the form because she changes into a human, whether she likes it or not, but Dominique is not another life for her.

I kinda like the idea of demons attempting to reverse engineer "Adam" in order to create a new race of human beings in their own image. Seems like a logical expansion of Shelly's themes. Though instead of generic Legions of Hell, I would have liked to see them use the version of Satan and Co. from Milton's Paradise Lost.

Todd: To my knowledge - as I have not seen the movie myself, owing to it being terrible - the protagonist is the creature several centuries later, referring to himself as "Adam Frankenstein" (i.e. "the Adam of your labours"), who gets conscripted into a very cliched battle between angelic gargoyles and demons and also goes around shirtless half the time.

Still, it's far closer to Shelley's version than the Karloff movies were, at least in details if not in spirit. At least he can speak complete sentences.

Funnily enough, the Spring.me roleplayers seem to have done exactly what you were pondering, though the character is a member of the Illuminati and hasn't met Goliath personally:

(I don't know if any of the movie adaptations have ever done it before, but it would be great to have one depiction of the monster based on the original book, where he's highly intelligent, eloquent, and has read Plutarch's "Lives" and "Paradise Lost". Anyone see the movie, "I, Frankenstein"? The movie is based on the graphic novel which takes the concept that stone gargoyles are actually angels in disguise protecting the world from demons.

While the movie isn't particularly well acted or executed, I did find myself liking certain parts. If anything it really made me want a Disney Gargoyles movie and I think a director can watch this movie and take notes on what NOT to do.
