He also said he's got four projects in the works. Not just one. The first one will be announced at NYCC.

If it's an animated series based on the original draft of Star Wars, I will excrete pure glee from my orifices.

You should've warned us, Raven. Reading isn't just fundamental. It's dangerous.

Because speculation is always fun:

It's not Young Justice - https://twitter.com/Greg_Weisman/status/518239285510537216

"@NoahGoodeve: @Greg_Weisman now that you're leaving star wars rebels will you resume work on young justice?" No.

It's not Spider-Man - https://twitter.com/Greg_Weisman/status/517895897493950464

"@wakingthedead17: Maybe GW's off Rebels cuz Spider-Verse stuff leads to a revival of the excellent #TheSpectacularSpiderMan." Nope.

It's not Gargoyles (at least not through LucasFilm) - https://twitter.com/Greg_Weisman/status/517894231533170688

"@RebelsReport: @wakingthedead17 How cool would an animated revival of Gargoyles be under the Lucasfilm banner w/ @Greg_Weisman -Pete" Nope.

People keep guessing a revival of an old series. I think it's something new. Due to these 2 hints:

https://twitter.com/Greg_Weisman/status/517887289481908225

"@StoryHobbit: @JustinL81 @LucasSiegel sad :( Come back @Greg_Weisman!!!!!" Haven't gone far.

https://twitter.com/Greg_Weisman/status/517890723564097536

"@AmazingNickF: @Greg_Weisman Mr. Weisman, I'm going to miss you on Star Wars Rebels when Season 2 starts..." Or you won't. Wait & see.

My prediction is a new Star Wars animated series. Greg is definitely keeping it closer to his vest than Sparrow and Silvani on Darkwing.

I've purchased buttons from Kythera of Anevern at a convention. You could ask if she's willing to ship something out: http://www.anevern.com/

Hey all! I know they are around, and so I am looking for Gargoyles pins. Specifically, the logo, Goliath or Demona. if anyone has any to sell, I be willing to make a deal!

Thanksgiving weekend is next weekend, and so I'll be able to stay close and (hopefully) find out what Greg is up to. If it IS something Gargoyles related, I would be ecstatic! But if not, I wish him the best of luck in what ever he does!

Battle Beast - [Canada]
That is all I will say.

Really liked the Rebels premier. I'm in for a season.

And so is Greg? The intrigue! The fantasy is it's something Gargoyles related. Although a continuation of Spider-Man or YJ would be awesome too (just bring back Wally or don't kill Gwen!) But I'm going to guess it's a new television project, not a continuation of a previous one. To which the most important question is: does it have dragons in it?

But seriously, if it's YJ, look, I'll trade one very much alive M'gann AND one very much alive Conner, whose demise (demises?) you may do with as you please, for one mostly dead Wally and a pill from Miracle Max.

Very interesting tweet from Greg:

@Greg_Weisman: "@BrandonDNH: What is @Greg_Weisman up to?..." FOUR different projects I can't reveal yet. But 1st will be revealed at #NYComicCon

https://twitter.com/greg_weisman/status/517893725863682048

He's has been going crazy with denials and sketchy answers over the past 2 days when people speculate on the projects. It's rather maddening and fascinating. At least we know(?) he has work. New York Comic Con is October 9-12.

So I finally caught the premiere of Rebels, good start and good introduction to the characters. I was especially impressed with Kallus (hey one with Greg's taught me is good villains make for great heroes). Glad to see the CG has improved since Clone Wars with character's hair actually moves around a bit. Looking forward to how this series goes.

Matt> Yeah, while the mental image was funny, I tend to think along similar lines (at least for Elisa and Derek). Plus, given Diane's occupation and interests, the trip was probably less "tourist vacation" and more "teach the kids about their heritage."
Ross

MATT - My thought as well - though only Greg can answer that question for certain.

I always assumed that the Maza family visited Nigeria when the kids were high school age or something.

So, I was randomly thinking about when Elisa mentions in "Mark of the Panther" that the Maza clan had visited Nigeria once when she was younger.

With Spirits of Ash and Foam fresh in my mind, the image popped into my head of Diane and Peter attempting to herd their tired kids into a Nigerian hotel after a long flight from the States...

little!Elisa: "I'm so tired..."
little!Derek: "What are we gonna do here anyway?"
little!Beth: "Mommy. Mommy. Mommy. Mommy. Mommy."

Though hopefully their vacation featured a little less drama than the Kims'. :)

Pretty sure it Gargoyles something something.

You should've warned us, Raven. Reading isn't just fundamental. It's dangerous.

To kind of echo what others have said, my take on this question is that: Demona has been previously said by Greg W that she "took over" leadership of some of those splintered cells of gargoyles by the old fashioned method (force). Which would have been in line with how things went in that time (for humans) and indeed up thru recent history or even now (people are shocked by ISIS's brutality for example, and I wonder why? Pretty darn normal, really) So simply put many of her clan may have been too intimidated by her to press the issue.
But also given that we understand gargs to be "peeps" too and to have higher emotional and cognitive feelings (anyone recall Margo scoffing at the idea gargolyles could have "human" thoughts and emotions?)...anyone know anyone who has been through a trauma, say rape, abuse, loss of a close friend or family member, war? Or been thru that yourself? When the grief is evident, you don't always ask for details. The gargs around her may well have been acting out of that consideration. Also her clan came from remnants - many of them came from massacred clans themselves. Perhaps detailed explanations were not needed.

Why would Greg leave Star Wars Rebels?
Battle Beast - [Canada]
That is all I will say.

994 Demona hadn't gone through the changes and traumas yet, or had the humans rub off on her as much as she had by 1994.
Greg Bishansky

PAUL> Once again, you are confusing 1996 Demona with 994 Demona.

Star Wars Rebels gets a 2nd season, but Greg isn't part of it anymore:

PAUL - Whatever else you do, don't even suggest that to Demona.
Todd Jensen
Hufflepuffs are really good finders

I always thought that Demona would value her own egg more than the others. It seems to me like humans are more inclined to value their own children more than other people's children, whereas gargoyles have communal parenting, where all of the adults are parents to all of the children.

And Demona's behavior in other respects is more characteristic of a human than of a gargoyle.

Paul - [nampahcfluap at yahoo dot com]

MATTHEW - [Also considering that Demona had just lost her mate and egg]

Eggs, technically, since gargoyles look upon all the eggs in their rookery as their children. And, yes, since Demona was the lone survivor of her clan, the other gargoyles probably didn't want to ask her too much. (Not to mention that as they got to know her better, they must have picked up in a hurry that asking Demona too many questions about something she does *not* want to talk about can be dangerous to your health.)

Todd Jensen
Hufflepuffs are really good finders

Also considering that Demona had just lost her mate and egg the other Gargoyles might not have wanted to press the issue. I'm betting that she told them that it was the humans that sold them out which is why they avoided human contact except for when they raided places for supplies. They probably avoided talking about it because it was a sore subject for them all (especially for Demona) and talking about it would bring up a lot of bad memories (again especially for Demona). Though this is mostly speculation.

Matt> I don't really think it would have been that hard. She blames the Captain of the Guard, the gargoyles' best human friend. Which is, you know, completely true that he sold out the castle to the Vikings, and also plays into her message that even the apparently friendliest humans can never be trusted.

What happened to the eggs? Smashed? Stolen? Depends whether she wanted to blame the Vikings or paint the castle defenders as evil.

Supermorff

In the interest of sparking a conversation...

I think it's likely that the cell of Demona's Clan consisting of gargoyles who were hatched at Wyvern would have been very curious about how what happened there and how Demona survived. Clearly, her "getting lost in the forest while looking for Goliath" story (that she told Brooklyn in 997 and Goliath in 1994) was probably her go-to lie, but I have to wonder if some of the gargoyles (particularly Second, Sacrifice and Brooksbro, who had parented eggs left in the Wyvern rookery) must've pressed harder for more information than that. If they asked about any details about how the castle was sacked (since help from inside was likely needed) or what happened to the human survivors or what happened to the eggs, what do you think Demona said? Answers to those questions would be trickier to answer, largely because Demona might find herself getting caught in a lie. Thoughts?
