Deplorable and loving it!

Watership Down is one of my favorite books. I think that one of the creepiest aspects of the book is the deal with the devil that Cowslips' warren makes.

Yes, that's certainly a good description of the movie.
We have the initial rabbit warren getting wiped out with poison gas, a few bloody fights among the rabbits - not to mention a dog going after the rabbit-villains at the end - and the movie added in one death not in the book; it invented a rabbit in the journey at the start named Violet who gets killed by a bird of prey.
Todd- I have not actually read the book so how good it is as an adaptation is unknown to me. I do know that the book itself has some pretty dark themes in it and the film's animation is disturbing to say the least. Which is what I was referring to when I said infamous.

MATTHEW - [plus I saw that SF Debris is going to be reviewing "Watership Down" this week, though I don't know if he's doing the book or infamous film adaptation.]

I'm a bit curious about your use of "infamous" to describe the movie version. Did you consider it a poor adaptation of the book? Or were you referring to the oft-commented on nightmarish qualities of the film (surprisingly so at first glance, given that its leads are rabbits)?

If you are able, lend your voice. It's in no way hyperbole to say that lives are literally at stake.

Tomorrow I will go Fourth and do my civic duty.
Also I'm leaning towards reviewing "A Wrinkle in Time." It's my eldest sister's favorite plus I saw that SF Debris is going to be reviewing "Watership Down" this week, though I don't know if he's doing the book or infamous film adaptation.
