So here's my thoughts on Season 3 Episode 15 "Leverage"
Last episode Beast Boy boasted that Granny can't control his free time, I guess it never occurred to him that she could control how much free time he had. And Granny doesn't strike me as the kind of lady that abides by the "minors can only work so many hours in film/tv" rules.
Nice of them to acknowledge the (ahem) tense relationship between Markovia and Russia just like it was in the comics. Heck the tensions between Russia and former Soviet Blocs isn't something that's touched upon by most media outside of that period of time in the 90's. Plus Brion bristling at Russia wanting their own super team is rather ironic considering he wanted to unlock his meta-gene to be a hero for Markovia.
Glad to have Freddy Rodriquez back, but it's pretty obvious that his voice has aged beyond what you would believe to belong to a teenager. Well I've heard worse. Anyway, glad to see counseling for meta-teens has improved since season 2, and that father and son both work together to actually help these kids in their own special way.
So we both get Windfall and the Rocket Red Brigade in a single episode? Nice. I knew they would go for more obscure characters but this is just too good. I'm starting to wonder if we might get the Global Guardians in the future. Possibly if the Justice League disperses or cuts all ties from the UN, they could serve as a new UN-chartered super team.
Loved the fight between the Team, Suicide Squad and the Rockets. Really shows off why Mallah and Black Manta were so high up in the Light's echelons. But to be honest, I REALLY prefer Manta's pre-cancellation look. The gray lines around his eyes make him look less intimidating and I liked the fuller silver underside to his helmet. The New-52 animated movies look just feel...I don't know...sloppier?
And it looks like we didn't need to wait until going to Qurac for Halo to start experiencing more flashbacks from her host's life.
I'll be honest, I was sorta hoping Waller would've figured out that the League had a covert team rather than being told by Manta. I pretty much guessed that she would use her knowledge of that to blackmail Kaldur and the Team, but now I'm starting to wonder. Did she want the Rocket Red technology to evaluate Russia's progress and determine strengths and weaknesses? Was she maybe hoping to use it to upgrade Manta's armor so she could send him against bigger threats? Or was she interested in how the armor integrates with the wearer's anatomy and how it could be exploited?
Final thoughts: I've got a sneaking suspicion Livewire might go the route of villain and Mist might go along out of loyalty. Beast Boy's resentment over having to stay quiet on the Suicide Squad is probably going to influence his choices in the future. And that scene where Doctor Jace picked up the hairbrush from "True Heroes" is leading up to something undoubtedly strange. And Zehra Fazal is definitely winning the voice awards this season with how many different roles she's got.
