Hi Mr. Weisman. I have a question for you:

I don't know if you are aware, but in the "Early Warning" episode of Whelmed: The Young Justice Files (back in Oct. 2019) the host quoted you on something you told him in conversation. This is something that used to happen now and then, but lately it happens in almost every episode: "Greg texted me this", "Brandon emailed me that", "Greg/Brandon told me whatever", etc.

So, looking at your 2-year-4-month-and-20-day backlog of 1216 questions, I'm wondering: why are you giving BTS information to this one person while the rest of your fanbase has to submit questions and wait months (at least) or YEARS (worst case and more likely scenario) for an answer???? It must be really cool to be so intimate and chummy with one's idol, and I bet the host feels super important and validated, but this is some double standard bullshit!

Are you aware of this? And if you are, how can you be okay with it? Don't you think this is unfair? You have thousands of fans who support your work whichever way they can, but 99.9% of them have never even met you in person, let alone exchanged emails or text messages with you.

If I make an entire podcast dedicated to kissing your asses, will I earn the same privileges? Will I be able to ask all my questions without a waiting queue? Will I get to hang out with you, have lunch together or exchange personal contacts?

(Originally I posted this on AskGreg, but then I decided I shouldn't have to wait 2 years for an answer, for all the reasons above.)

One of the posters at #KeepBingeingGargoyles did an appropriate posting for Valentine's Day yesterday - Elisa kissing Goliath at the end of "Hunter's Moon".

You could also just take pictures with a camera or phone if you wanted to. Put it up in a google drive or other cloud service and link it here.

JAMIE - Sorry to hear about that. Still, if you could share the "non-visual" details about the Ladybird book, it'd make a good new entry for the GargWiki. And maybe other British "Gargoyles" fans might have access to a scanner....

Happy Valentine's day if anyone out there having fun on this day... I dont just as normal as always.. 😛😝

Once alone always alone..... nothing as always..

Todd Jensen - The only downside is I don't have a photo scanner. Maybe I'll post them sometime in the future, if I ever afford a scanner.

Since I'm here anyway, is there anything I should expect when I meet Frank Welker? It will be a big deal since it's his first UK convention.

JAMIE - You can send the photographs to GargWiki; they could add an entry on the Ladybird "Gargoyles" books, complete with those photos.
Todd Jensen

Todd Jensen - Thanks mate! I was surprised Ladybird Books published various Gargoyles books in the UK, back when the series aired on Toon Disney in the late 90's if my memory serves me right. Considering the nature of the show it was very much outside Ladybird's normal content.

If this site had the ability to show photos in the comments, I would have shown what the book is like since they were only made in Britain. But if you can find the front cover of Gargoyles The Beginning somewhere online, it has a magnificent painting of Goliath that I've never seen else where.

Jamie Spilsbury - [jamiespilsbury117 at hotmail dot com]

This is the first I've heard of Ladybird Books doing a "Gargoyles" adaptation; I have fond memories of Ladybird from my boyhood in England (though it was years before "Gargoyles" came out). Thanks for sharing that with us, Jamie - and it *is* a pity that the UK doesn't have that much "Gargoyles" merchandise.
Todd Jensen

Greg Bishansky - Thanks! I never thought I would meet Frank Welker in my life, he is one of the most legendary voice actors of all time without a shadow of a doubt. I'm counting down the days to Liverpool Comic Con, really looking forward to meeting the man himself.

I'm glad I have something Gargoyles related for him to sign, because anything else I try and find online has always led me to a dead end. To be honest I don't recall ever having any Gargoyles toys when I was a kid, my folks couldn't never find any whenever we went out shopping, the only thing I had were several episodes I recorded on VHS.

I think the merchandise here in the UK wasn't as big, compere to what it was like in the US. I would so love to get my hands on them comics (Clan Building and Bad Guys), but as I said it's impossible to find anything Gargoyles in the UK.

Jamie Spilsbury - [jamiespilsbury117 at hotmail dot com]

Congrats on meeting Frank! We were never able to get him to a Gathering, but I don't believe he was doing conventions at the time?

So here's one to the group... which Gargoyles professionals have you met that have never been to a Gathering?

For me, Jonathan Frakes and John Rhys-Davies come to mind. I met them at separate New York Comic Cons and they signed my DVD's. I remember advising John to sign as close to Marina's signature as possible so Demona could feel Macbeth's hands wrapped around her throat. ;)

The only other one I can think of is Terrance Mann, who was performing in a Broadway revival of Rocky Horror as Dr. Frank-N-Furter. I saw that with three other Gargoyles fans and we met and chatted with him outside after the show... the only thing more surreal was Dick Cavett as the Criminologist.

MATTHEW - I forgot to mention last night the "Gargoyles" tribute in "Catalysts", with the Green Globulin being labeled "#994". I liked that little touch.
Todd Jensen

Greetings from Great Britain! It's been a few years since I last visited the site, great to see the fan love for Gargoyles is still going strong.

Next month I'll be going to Liverpool Comic Con, which is local to me since I only live across the River Mersey in the Wirral. I'm so hyped to meet Frank Welker (the voice of Bronx), as far as I know this will be his first ever UK comic con appearance. The only other Gargoyles cast member I've met was John Rhys-Davies and that was a couple of years ago now.

I plan on getting Frank to sign a Gargoyles book called The Beginning, it was published by Ladybird Books. Basically it's a retelling of the first episodes of The Awakening. It's hard to find any merchandise of the series over here, it's never had a UK DVD release and even finding the comics is impossible, oh well sometimes you've just got to go with what's available to you.

Anyway I thought I should mention this, it might be the only chance of ever meeting Frank Welker.

Thanks Todd!

Thanks for the latest review, Matthew. I don't have anything to add about it, but I thought you did a good job.

Watched "Catalysts" today and the first of the Chemistry trilogy, I like how this episode frames certain events as the catalysts for future plot points and developments and yet certain things have been building up for a while. While Hammerhead's pressuring from last episode may have convinced Osborn to try and take out Tombstone last episode, the fact that he had all the Goblin gear ready and the bat-like modifications ready for the glider on the very night he stole it shows he had been planning this for a while. Sally uses MJ's date with Peter as the reason for social cliques starting to end, but that had been ending since Harry and Peter tried out for football, heck you could argue the first step was when Pete tutored Liz. We get our first look at Harry using Globulin Green this episode yet we know that he had been using it to get better grades and get on the football team.

I gotta say, this may be my favorite adaptation of Mary Jane and Vanessa Marshall totally knocks it out. She really captures the "nothing's wrong with Mary Jane Watson" attitude the character had in the comics while leaving room to grow. She doesn't really tear down the social hierarchy based on how she looks or the fact that she went on a date with Peter but just by connecting with people on a social level. Couple things I didn't notice the first time around, like Liz happily nodding when Glory mentions that Pete cleans up nice, nor MJ's "dude, hands" expression when Flash had his arm around her. Speaking of which, I kinda imagined Flash was hoping that things would go all "She's All That" when he talked about the bet, but MJ's too cool for that.

Continuing first appearances, we also get our first look at John Jameson, probably the only person in the world Jonah won't yell at. I really like that he's a very down-to-earth, all-American kinda guy (ironic being an astronaut) who acts like a moral compass to his dad. Plus his willingness to protect others really shows that he has all the makings to be an actual superhero (heck he probably could've made a great Captain America).

And finally our villain of the day, the Green Goblin. Getting an actor that doesn't sound anything like Norman or Harry was a great way to play with mystery of his identity and Steve Blum brings the wonderfully, over-the-top performance. Plus the fact that he can banter as well as Spidey makes for an interesting confrontation. One thing about super villains is that more often than not they focus on either super powers or gadgets and what makes the Goblin that makes him so dangerous is the fact that he's willing to use both. He's got the strength to match Spider-Man, a wide bevy of weapons and a glider that gives him aerial superiority. Interesting that Spider-Man actually manages to catch him without too much trouble and is only thwarted due to the bomb, as we'll see in future episodes the next times they face off Gobby's planning ahead, setting traps, using "surrogate squashers" and using the environment to his favor. Really shows off Greg's "never let the villains become repetitive" style. Plus Spidey's joke about never teaming up with anyone green or psychotic is a nice little nod to how many of his villains are associated with the color green.

One last thing, I gotta admit it was pretty clever of Greg to have the answer to who the Green Goblin is hiding in plain sight. How many people missed that Harry was there applauding when MJ was crowned prom queen?

Favorite Lines:
Robbie: A green what?!
Jameson: Goblin. A Green Goblin! No, no reporter. I'll cover the story myself and save a few bucks. But get me Parker, this is right up his freak show alley!..Oh and maybe uh, call the police.

MJ: Well if I can't dance with Pete I guess I'll just have to dance with...it's Randy isn't it?
Randy: Very. (Gotta love when they sneak ones by the censors)

Green Goblin: You know the old saying: If you can't join 'em, BEAT 'em!
Spider-Man: Took the words right outta my mouth. Is that a felony?
Green Goblin: I certainly hope so. This little goblin wouldn't be caught dead committing a misdemeanour!
Spider-Man: Ooh, nice banter. Aim still needs work.
Green Goblin: Well practice makes perfect!
Spider-Man: Keep telling yourself that!

Gargoyles are inherently territorial. People have said that gargoyles would probably be bewildered by human prejudice based on skin color, but that's because it's not strictly hereditary for them. They might be suspicious of foreign gargoyles with different upbringings joining their clans. I could easily see a xenophobic faction appearing in some of the clans- look at the way Yama yells about Goliath being an "outsider!" (Presumably he was using the word "gaijin.") Frankly, that kind of conflict would be more interesting than having them all be open-minded and tolerant.

ADAM> If said gargoyle is qualified, I don't see why not.
Greg Bishansky

Question for the group. In the future (well, by 2020 at least), I think there will be Gargoyles moving to live with different clans (not counting the new clans in New Camelot and Wyvern) to help them with their numbers (Mayan and Manhattan clan stand out).

My question is, do you think Gargoyles joining new clans will be given the same consideration when the time comes for a new second to be chosen? I think Angela will become the new 2nd of the Manhattan clan, but I think she is a special case. For example, if members of the London clan join the Mayan clan, will those gargoyles be considered as a new second when the time comes?
