Well if anything I might just put up a tidbit section for the Amphibia article to mention those gargoyle statues. Hard to believe it would be a coincidence too still as they appear around the same time as a Keith David voiced character.

Also if Goliath got into a new book series but missed a volume, you think he would lose his cool if someone got him the volume after by mistake?

Antiyonder

Actually, I have seen Humans be capitalized before, in the Imperial Radch books. Humans don't say it with capitals, but the Translators for the alien Presger and, I think, the Geck, do. It's a neat little detail.
Karrin Blue

ANTIYONDER - True. Remember that Marigold's vision of the end of the world is everyone losing interest in Unicorns. "The living would envy the dead."

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Todd Jensen

Todd Jensen> Yes I'm wondering if having the Cloak-Bot (name from the credits) showing up twice around those gargoyle statues is suppose to be another Gargoyles reference.

Incidentally, I definitely don't capitalize gargoyles unless I'm talking about the title of the series as of course it's like capitalizing humans.

But when speaking of Phoebe and Her Unicorn, I do capitalize Unicorns regardless considering how Marigold and the rest think highly of themselves:-D.

Welcome Undine!
Here at Station 8 we celebrate not only Gargoyles but most of the works of Greg Weisman and his associates. Currently speaking a lot of our attention is on the latest season of Young Justice but we often go on pretty lengthy discussions on Gargoyles.

Now for the fan fic bit, unfortunately I'm not technically versed either but we are indeed supportive of fan creations.

Todd—
Actually it IS a clock tower, though it’s more obvious that it’s a clock tower in season premiere when the robot first hides there than it was in this episode. And knowing Matt Braly, who has gone on record several times as saying he’s a big fan, it was almost certainly a deliberate shout-out, though not quite as blatant as Goliath’s cameo in Dr P’s book last season
Welcome, Undine! Please help yourself to the traditional plate of cookies.

As for your question, I don't really know about the technical details or how individual authors would feel, but I think we're mostly supportive of fanfic here. I've written a couple myself.

"Jurgan: In fairness, YJ is the show that's currently getting new, serialized content. Of course it would represent the overwhelming majority of new questions. I'm ecstatic at all the new merch "Gargoyles" is getting lately (including the NECA figures, the "Awakening" board game, and more) but otherwise, there really isn't much new to talk about."

Sure, and I'm not really complaining about it. I'm glad people are engaged, and in theory YJ having a bigger presence give Greg more leverage when talking about a hypothetical Gargoyles revival. I just kinda wish there were some sort of tagging system so I could only see the questions I'm interested in, but I realize any such suggestion represent a lot of tech work behind the scenes. So I'll live with it.

Jurgan - [jurgan6 at yahoo dot com]

I have only recently discovered the Gargoyles series due to the availability on Disney+. Loved the characters and the story. In desperate need of more stories and to keep the buzz going I have been hunting down comics and then delved into the fanfic realm to get a taste of the fandom as it once was at its height.

As an active reader in other fandoms I found the Gargoyles fanfic to be a diaspora spread over many sites. I was wondering if any of the archives on livejournal, dedicated sites etc have considered applying to AO3's open door project to have the material imported and archived there to unify the fanfic works in one place and preserve them. Fanfic is often a controversial issue for many fandoms but it represents a historical timeline of fans thoughts and feelings, as well as a community. Even as new to the fandom as I am I think it would be a sad loss for these works to be lost, nevermind those to date which have already been lost to the internets rapid evolution. The stories lost with geocites death alone and Yahoo lists recent demise is saddening.

Just wondering.

His robot *did* house itself in a tower (though not a clock tower, as far as I could tell) with a couple of gargoyles for company.
Emphasis on "did", of course.

I did hear a theory that that device wasn't a second bomb - rather, that it was a Phantom Zone projector, which also sometimes leaves the ash shadow residue. Which, I had thought that might be one of the double meanings of the title way back when, and it could be fun for Conner to have to rely on the sneaky covert tactics he learned on the Team to dodge around Zod et al, having to compensate for being injured and weakened - and perhaps finding a young Kara sealed into her rocket. And on a pure 'superheroes are a soap opera' level, 'Your fiance is still alive, and he brought a child for you to raise together!' Would be pretty delightful.
Well, we have log lines, titles, and a new poster...
Of course as soon as I'm dying to find out how the Mars plot ends and don't want to check in on Earth, we swap back. I'm curious to see if this will pick up when the wedding party took off, and we'll have two views of the same time, on two different planets, that then merge together right after 'now'? So the audience has time to sweat, but the resolution of the Legion stuff happens relatively quickly from the characters' POVs.

Really, as excited as I am to watch everything for the first time, I might be more excited for my eventual rewatch. Not that I want to binge it - having episodes have time to breathe is great - but I want to be able to see it as a whole, with context, and knowing how it all turns out.

Are you saying all Martians look alike? Just kidding. So what I did was took some time to memorize which voice belonged to which character then checked to see which actor was playing them because that helps me keep track. Alternatively, the wiki generally keeps a good picture for each character so you can use that for reference. Plus they did put the effort in and made sure the Martians all dressed differently.
In other news, Greg and Brandon Vietti are going to be doing a Q&A on Reddit on November 2, 2:30 PST
M'comm didn't go out of his way to kill Conner. He set up the Martian gene bomb, then the mystery time traveller snuck in, possibly intentionally tipping off the heroes, and added the Kryptonite bomb. So it's that person who was trying to make sure either Conner died instead of or in addition to all the Martians - the question is why, and which they meant to do, and if the Legion has a way to put this all to rights.
Karrin Blue
One problem I have with the arc is that Martians in their martian form all... pretty much look identical, and until they telepathically communicate I can't really even tell who I'm looking at half the time.

The payoff for the mystery of who killed the king was all right, there's just so much going on it's been hard for me to keep track of who's who and what everyone wants exactly.

The Prince has a line "but it is not the way things OUGHT to be!". It wasn't a bad read or anything but it was VERY Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest. Which made me laugh a bit.

The ending was intense. I feel a bit like it's kinda weird that both characters who've died were part of the two core relationships from season 1. I didn't think Superboy's death was manipulative or out of place, and I was definitely effected by it.

M'gann's brother all but directly (and seemingly went out of his way with the green kryptonite) to murder M'gann's fiancé. After she tried to make amends with him. That's pretty messed up.

I still kinda feel like this isn't quite as clean as the opening arc as the beginning of Outsiders was. There the motives and characters were so clear, and where the focus was, was also very clear. Here... this is obviously a lot of M'gann story. And I've liked a lot of the focus on M'gann's character, but I'm also not sure what the focus is here. This is obviously a pivotol moment in that arc, but I can't help but feel like the presence of the Legion just makes things more confusing rather than adds much to the story being told (and clearly long-term I don't know where they're going with the Legion). Maybe that's unfair of me, but I feel like if this was meant to be *more* focused than Outsiders, while being very good, it's more or less the opposite.
Alex (Aldrius)
Wow, what an episode. For some reason, I keep forgetting that Martian magic is just as wild and unpredictable as the human kind. I did love that brief conversation Em'ree had with our poor priestess - as far as 'last times you get to speak to someone as a guide' go, helping a family reconcile is good, and I hope that memory brings her some comfort in her days ahead.

Also... listen, the ONLY reason I would think Conner is actually dead is Greg's preference to reveal fakeouts before the end of the episode. Not that they couldn't make killing him off work, but really, he's in the main credits for goodness' sake (although that's certainly one way to tip the gender parity of the Team back towards the girls.)

...I joke because if they're actually going for this WOW that'd be heavy. The pain for Gar and M'gann, then everyone back on Earth - geez, I can't imagine it.

But here's what I'm wondering - did the bomb go off and kill everyone but Conner in the original timeline, and our mystery traveller do what he did to both tip the others off AND kill Conner, or was his being heard, spotted, and leaving the bomb uncovered truly accidental? And did the Legion come back to make sure no one died, or restore the original timeline - and the plague? I can't see these three going along with the deaths of a civilization, but that seems like the kind of thing that'd have a ton of ripple effects into the future, or rip open spacetime altogether. So... hm. But then I guess that'll all be revealed next episode? If they DID save him he's going to have an absolute ton of questions and shouting.

Just, well... in the end I trust Grandon to give us a sort of happy ending. Maybe not the one we were expecting, but still.

If Conner DOES come back, though, there really will be no end to the people expecting Wally to reappear, though. Such is life.
Karrin Blue

Masterdramon:
I've had my suspicions that Conner might be involved with the Legion due to the history of young Clark having adventures in the future. Whether he'll be brought to the future or kept on ice for a while is anybody's guess.

So after the Mars arc wraps up I imagine we'll be spending time on Earth, probably doing some simultaneous story-telling. I figure it'll most likely be whatever's going on with Artemis and whatever's going on with that female martial artist (and where we'll get that clash between Cassandra and her mother). Or it'll focus on Zatanna and her merry band or magicians.
I'm ecstatic at all the new merch "Gargoyles" is getting lately (including the NECA figures, the "Awakening" board game, and more) but otherwise, there really isn't much new to talk about.

Matthew:
Totally called that Sy'ree was the killer, and that the main impetus was that the late king forbade their marriage. I definitely took note that when we got the backstory for the murder, S'turnn was stated to call it a "scientific fact" that Whites and Greens were genetically identical...but conspicuously left out Reds. The only thing I didn't see coming was that it was an accident.

As for Superboy, my guess is that he did indeed die in the original timeline, which was the "one big thing" the Legionnaires came back specifically to prevent. To preserve the timestream and stop their adversary from just trying again, they had to make it look like he succeeded...but in actuality, they took Conner to the future to save him, Griff-style.

Superboy teaming up with the Legion is a time-honored tradition, going back to literally their first appearance. Makes sense that in the YJ-verse, it would be Conner instead of young Clark.
"I don't think anyone is born knowing the reason why they're here. It's just something you have to find as you go along." - Tohru Honda
Wow, the ratio of relationships not ending tragically is really off isn't it?
So my thoughts on "Involuntary."
So the mystery of the king's murder is that it was a tragic accident because the progressive king of Mars still had his blind spots when it came to the caste system. You know back in "Fail Safe" we saw just how dangerous it is for a Martian of M'gann's caliber to lose control of her telepathy, now combine that with mystical powers. Got to give it to J'emm for pointing out how ridiculous it is to have skin-color based prejudices among a species of shapeshifters. Because all of their problems were easily avoidable. The tragedy of the king wouldn't have occurred if not for the preexisting notion that royalty should remain red. And M'comm and his plot with the virus would not have happened if Martians had realized that their differences are only skin deep.

So one tragedy is averted at the cost of another. I'm certain that there's another twist to be had but at the same time, Jeez. We're straying into actual comic book clichés to keep characters single. There's also a huge amount of ambiguity when it comes to this unseen adversary. On the one hand I wouldn't put it past Desaad to add kryptonite to the device but I'm certain that it was an addition provided by that explosive device. It's also funny that whoever this person is, their presence was key to the heroes discovering the virus plot. And as it turns out that sphere we saw on the poster? A Time Sphere which suggests the Time Masters, or it's the Time Bubble which might suggest a rogue member of the Legion. And none of this is providing any clues on why the Zeta Tube was sabotaged.

So I went back and rewatched the trailer, and any footage of Superboy comes from the first four episodes. And it makes me think that Artemis' line about things you can't prepare for and things you can't get over might be directed towards M'gann.
And almost all about YJ. I kind of wish there was a separate queue for those, but I realize there's no practical way to do that aside from starting a whole new site. Oh well.

I do try! Though which question was that, the Halo one?

I'm also pleased to get an answer to the 'which Markov got powers first' question - I did like the idea of Tara being the first meta-active Markov (at least in the modern day - who knows if any of their ancestors had such abilities) and either the first survivor of, or first victim outright, of the Tar process, for various genre trope reasons.

Also, as a sidenote, I notice even Greg's ended up using ATLA's words for elemental powers. I know I've ended up calling any old water-user a waterbender - it just feels so much tidier than aquakinetic or hydrokinetic.

Jurgan - [jurgan6 at yahoo dot com]

This day is call'd the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say, "Tomorrow is Saint Crispian":
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say "These wounds I had on Crispin's day."
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day; then shall our names,
Familiar in their mouths as household words -
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester -
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
and Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered -
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he today that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accurst they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

Greg and Jennifer welcome back series co-creator, Greg Weisman and welcome, for the first time, series co-producer, Frank Paur. The group discusses Greg Weisman moving from development executive at Disney to producing the show with Frank Paur; Frank’s trip to Japan to finalize the look of the show with legendary animator, Kazuyoshi Takeuchi (Akira); bringing New York City to life; unveiling the show to the press, to focus groups, and ultimately to the general public. How David Xanatos and Demona were (and still are) unique and compelling villains. And we briefly touch on why the show got cancelled. All of this, the 1994 Northridge earthquake, and so much more.
