Tahmidk> I suggest you save yourself the trouble, because I guarantee that Greg will not answer that question. It is a spoiler request.

Hey I was wondering when Greg would start accepting new questions? I would like to ask if Roy Harper and Vandal Savage are related to each other like in the comics(Roy is a descendant of Vandal). This was the basis of my original suspicion that Roy was the mole, but now im wondering that
Perhaps luthor kept Roy alive for Vandal Savage

Greg W> Well, Image and Agendas showed up as promised. Looks like everything's running properly on Boomerang. I may not have seen evidence of Coldhearted personally, but I'd say it did run as planned last week as well given the current airings.

Tomorrow is Rememberance Day. I hope you ALL, at 11 AM, stop and refelect. We all know someone who was in WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan or Iraq.

November 11th is a day in which to refelct and think of the sacrifices that men and women long before us made so that we could sit at our computers and argue and disect animated characters in our spare time.

It would be a good day to watch [I}M.I.A[/I].

My Grandfather, DFC Thomas A. Lukinuk, fought heroically in WW2, flying 37 bombing missions over nazi Germany. He was a veteran who wrote a blank cheque payable to his country, Canada, for an amount up to and including their life. Thankfully that cheque was never cashed, but that is beyond honour, and there are too many people these days who no longer remember that MANY, MANY people did just that.

I am in his, and every veterans, debt, as we all are.

___

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Thank you.

Greg B. : Jason's Illuminati story surprises me a lot less than it should. The crazy lady who's renting half of my house totally believes in the society, and also believes that they're having her followed at all times. Personally, I can't think of anything I'd want to do less than follow her around, so I can't imagine the society wasting resources that way, but whatever floats her boat, I guess.

I'd say more, but my mind isn't just dirty, it's damned filthy and this is still a PG-13 CR.

Here's the problem with most fanfic writers: they seem to think Dominique is a second life. It isn't. Demona spelled it plainly in "High Noon." She's a gargoyle. Dominique is just a tool to help her in her goals. She'll use the form because she changes into a human, whether she likes it or not, but Dominique is not another life for her.

In all seriousness, I know that Disney's S&P wouldn't allow any depictions of people being cut, stabbed, shot, or strangled, so it's perfectly understandable that there would be plenty of non-penetrative swordfighting in Gargoyles.

I'm actually more interested in how people "got crap past the radar" regarding violence rather than sex. Maybe it's the aura of political correctness gone mad nowadays, but I think it took a lot of guts to have Elisa actually get shot. (Of course, that was pretty much the whole point of "Deadly Force.") And having Duncan die from a magical grenade to the face was pretty gutsy too, in my opinion. (In hindsight, the Double-Subversion of the Disney Villain Death is hilarious too.)

Paul - [nampahcfluap@yahoo.com]

In the other context, the previous few posts are actually quite amusing.
Supermorff

On reflection, the phrase I'm probably looking for is "sexually slow on the uptake."

At first I honestly thought it was a jab (pun intended) at the Society for Creative Anachronism.

Paul - [nampahcfluap@yahoo.com]

I guess that goes to show how... what's the opposite of "dirty?"... my mind is. It didn't even occur to me that that might be a euphemism.

I know clean is an antonym of dirty, but nobody talks about "clean minds."

Paul - [nampahcfluap@yahoo.com]

Masterdramon: Yeah, you're right; I forgot about that. And then there was the swordfight between Kenneth III and Constantine, where Kenneth was just about to stab Constantine.

Paul: Points stabbed Yama in Issue #6 of "Bad Guys."

Didn't really work out as well as Points was probably hoping, though.

FTBM: I was particularly amused by this one: "Any male president will be required to have at least one gay experience if he has not already had one. Swordfighting and other non-penetrative activities will not count."

Swordfighting is a non-penetrative activity?

Then again, on Gargoyles I guess it isn't. Canmore is the only one who ever actually stabbed someone...

Paul - [nampahcfluap@yahoo.com]

There are gargoyles in Oz (as in "The Wizard of Oz").

Well, not in Oz itself, but in a nearby land. L. Frank Baum wrote several sequels to "The Wizard of Oz" that aren't as famous as the original, and one had Dorothy transported to a "Hollow Earth" land after being caught in an earthquake during a visit to relatives in California (varying the natural disasters to suit the location). She and her friends (including the Wizard, who gut caught in the earthquake as well while in his balloon, looking for the way out, have to pass through a land inhabited by living gargoyles. They differ from our gargoyles in being made out of wood and are mute (they even dislike loud noises) - and are, like most fictional gargoyles, unfriendly.

I bought a copy of a graphic novel adaptation of this story today, "Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz", as part of a series from Marvel Comics by Eric Shanower and Skottie Young. The gargs in it are probably around the same size as Lexington.

Jason: Yes.
Student: For who.
Jason: I'm not going to say.
Student: So was it Romney?
Jason: I'm not telling you.
Student: Why not mister?
Jason: Because as your teacher I want you to form your own opinions without worrying what I think.

Olivia: That's definite "SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT" territory. You'll just have to wait and see where Dick/Barbara's relationship progresses, assuming there's room in the show/comics to tell that story.

Although Babs did smile wryly when Nightwing's inexplicable ability to stay friends with all his exes is discussed in Issue #20, so draw your own conclusions from that.

Gargoyles rocks!

Sorry for the double post, but I just realized something.

I don't think you had to see and hear the whole thing to get turned to stone; Elisa was shown running out of her apartment just as Demona was chanting "dum caelum ardeat," so presumably Elisa didn't see that last part of the broadcast. I'd venture a guess that anybody who saw and heard up to "ad saxum commutate" would get turned to stone, since it means... well... "turn to stone."

Paul - [nampahcfluap@yahoo.com]

It's a nice way to lean on the fourth wall in any case, ensuring that the real-life audience never sees and hears the spell in its entirety.
Paul - [nampahcfluap@yahoo.com]

I love that in one of Greg's recent smartass responses, he mentioned Ceti Alpha V, a Star Trek planet.

Comet> Interesting. Sounds like a valid question for Greg himself, although it also seems like something he might not necessarily have been involved with/have memory of. Who directed City of Stone?

Supermorff

I just rewatched the first 2 CoS-episodes and realized something.... Demona's spell to turn the humans to stone is NEVER shown in a full sequence in sound and vision. Sometimes the view to Demona is cut off and sometimes her speaking.
One must probably watch at least one full sequence to make the magic work. So I wonder if this way to handle it in the episodes (not the universe) is some kind of easter egg, or just coincidence?

@Battle Beast - I am lucky to count amongst my friends folks from other countries (including Canada) and it always cracks me up how much attention is paid to US elections, compared to our (generalized) ignorance of elections (and frankly basic news) in other countries. I mean, I understand it, given the USA's position and influence on the global stage, but the contrast is always striking to me.

Could you explain Dick and Babs relationship in Young Justice? Will it ever involve into something more? Or are they already a thing?

I've been voting since I was 12. (I actually told my mother whom to vote for). I haven't missed an election since I turned 18. Unfortunatly, I couldn't vote last night... I'm a Canadian. If I was American, I would have voted. And, I am glad to say, my candidate won.

I love watching the returns. It's fun.

Phoenician> You're not the only one who was a poll worker today. In Missouri though, I was up at the crack of 4 AM to be at my polling station at 5AM and worked till 8:50PM. Poll workers here don't do shifts. It's an all day commitment.

I also voted early (since it's the poll worker's privilege) And much like you, we had wonderful folks from both parties working. (Though unlike you, our party affiliations were revealed at the beginning of the day, because we weren't supposed to sit next to someone from the same party, and a Rep and a Dem had to sign just about EVERYTHING)

(I'm a Rep, BTW)

Hat's off to my fellow poll workers around the country. And hat's off to democracy.

Voted early ballot a week or so ago and worked today at a precinct from 5:30PM to a little past 9:30PM MST . . . gotta give major credit to my various co-workers who worked together respectfully despite our different political affiliations (which was only discovered when we had to draw straws to decide who would be delivering the ballots to the official counting sites, which needed to be transported by two volunteers of different parties to ensure things would remain objective) . . .
