ESG>>Greg's right.

Immortality is quite obviously possible in the Gargoyles Universe. And Xanatos has already met both Demona and Macbeth by that point, and knows they are immortal, even if he doesn't know HOW.

Here's the problem with most fanfic writers: they seem to think Dominique is a second life. It isn't. Demona spelled it plainly in "High Noon." She's a gargoyle. Dominique is just a tool to help her in her goals. She'll use the form because she changes into a human, whether she likes it or not, but Dominique is not another life for her.

It's because he isn't dumb that he should be able to think of another way. This is the guy who utilized science and sorcery to create a frankenstein-esque monster, partly so he could launch an attack synchronized with police efforts in order to weaponize a virus. He shouldn't be stopped by mere tribal police. As I said he could have sent Coyote again, or any number of robots made to implicate others, or at least not himself.

Besides, it doesn't matter how smart the trickster is. He seems incapable of guarding the soil carving at a distance, so he'd have to come in person again.

And whether or not he has other plans for immortality is irrelevant. Nobody has achieved such a thing in the history of mankind. He should be hedging his bets as much as possible.

There is balance in all things. Live in symmetry with the world around you. If you must blow things up and steal from those around you, THAT'S WHAT RPGS ARE FOR!

Because Xanatos isn't dumb. Can't destroy the carving now...It will be guarded. And there's no point either, because Xanatos is a trickster too. He knows that Coyote won't fall for the same trap twice. He was bested, and, I'd imagine, just like Hudson, Coyote the Trickster has "earned it".

Xanatos has lots of schemes for immortality in the works. The Emir was another one. And I'm sure there are others. One failed, so he moves on to the next one. No biggie.

One wonders why Xanatos gave up on capturing Coyote. I mean, what was stopping him from trying again? He had a couple weeks still before The Gathering. Even if the Tribal Police shooed him off, he could have sent Coyote and a few other robots to try again without implicating himself.

So I have seen the Season 1 and Season 2 DVD's available through Disney, but every once in a while a 5 DVD set of the complete series pops up (see the link below, I am not sure if it will work). Is this legit? Was this an official release at some point, or is it something that was captured off of Toon Disney? What do you think?

Yesterday, I got a catalogue of British-themed objects in the mail; one of the items in it was a necktie with a print on it of a mural painting in a Scottish museum of the kings and queens of Scotland. The part of the painting it zeroed in on showed Macbeth, Gruoch, Duncan and Canmore (though with different character designs than "City of Stone", of course).

Kind of appropriate for the 19th anniversary of "Gargoyles", in a roundabout way.

That's not unusual with Amazon books, though, so it's not like it's something you could justifiably do something about. Just to make sure it wasn't weird, I just glanced at one of the Artemis Fowl books, which probably has the same general demographic, and it does the same thing.

I mean, it's kind of a bummer, but it's not like it's exclusive to Rain.

So, the "Look Inside" feature on Amazon's Rain of the Ghosts page seems to be a bit...um...all-inclusive? It has a LOT of pages, going up almost to the end of the book, including an excerpt from the second book (!). Some of the pages are sequential, and some are just random and totally without context, beginning and ending in mid-sentence. Is this really the way Greg wants to promote the book? If it's a mistake, someone close to him should bring it to his attention.

Ok, your criticism is correct. And thanks you for the informations. I've read the FAQ and my english isn't so well. The words i've used were not these that i've meant. Ok ive not the so many words for choice but i try it with a dictionary.

You are right the seasons 3 is not a filler that was my mistake. Ive thought it was because the comic clan building that ive saw was a bit different. The animation wasnt brutal for me but since Naruto not only the bloody scenes were cut the storyline were cut too. Dragonball Z was the last animes ive saw uncut.. Im not happy about it but thats the new time and we have to live with it when it should come to tv.

And your right since simpsons american dad and south park spongebob my opinion about the cartoons have changed.

I'm only a old Fan of these series and i love shakespear Arthur and Middle Ages and Co. and only would im hope in the future is that the rest of the storyline could be told. And if its a gigantic book without any images it would also ok for me.

Thank you for your time :-)

Harlan Phoenix: "Your sentence also is either very nebulous at best or makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE if I stop being generous (and I'm rarely generous, so why I'm being so now is beyond me besides that it's slightly less boring than being a douche)."

I would think you could muster up some generosity (or at least courtesy) for someone trying to communicate in a language other than their native tongue. Some of the sentence structures made me suspect this, and then I saw that Slayer86 has a German e-mail address which confirmed it for me. I commend him/her for stepping out; I've been tempted to post on message boards where I'm not fluent in the language but haven't for fear of looking stupid (or being treated that way, as Harlan has done).

Anyway, what Harlan has said is correct (if not polite). The bottom line is that Disney owns Gargoyles and only they can legally make new episodes. And they don't really need donations.

Phil - [p1anderson at yahoo dot com]

Amazon.de is selling only one Clan Building Vol.1 comic for 110 Euro (like 160 dollars). Wow, I'm so glad I already bought one for the normal price... maybe these comics will be even more expensive in the future and maybe collectors will pay a lot for them someday.
Comet
Double, double, toil and trouble. Fire burn and cauldron bubble.

"The Season 3 is not the right season. It was just a filler because the official story that you can see in the clan building comics were to brutal and bloody."

That's not really correct. Though the full details (or as full as they can be) on the production of The Goliath Chronicles can be found on this very site, a summary will do for the sake of this conversation: Greg Weisman was not brought back beyond a consulting position (which he rejected, as he felt his consultation was not done for the narrative benefit of the series) and many of the broad abstract themes of his third season plans were adapted by a new staff.

Now, while it's true that Goliath Chronicles's status as a network show rather than a syndicated show tightened the standards, that's not to say that, by comparison, Clan Building is "more brutal." There's not much in the way of bloody content in the comics beyond Thailog stabbing Goliath and in terms of the non-bloody physical violence, well, it was par for the course when compared with the animated series. The content, overall, is pretty much exactly the same.

Your sentence also is either very nebulous at best or makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE if I stop being generous (and I'm rarely generous, so why I'm being so now is beyond me besides that it's slightly less boring than being a douche). Season three is "filler"? That makes no sense. It carries a seasonal plot based around the fallout of Hunter's Moon and brings that arc to a conclusion. It's arguably just as serialized as the rest of the series, and arguably to a fault considering we lost the wide scope of the Gargoyles Universe for a more centralized Quarrymen plot. It's not structurally "filler" and from a production perspective, it serves the exact same purpose as the first two seasons did, e.i. to be a cartoon on television.

Clan Building also isn't exactly an accurate reflection of the structure of a hypothetical third Weisman season, either. Though it's been argued that you could make Clan Building the BASIS for a third season, it's something that never made sense to me. The hypothetical "real" season three was a collection of springboards (episode premises) that had not properly reached the development stage. There also wasn't a Thailog in the Illuminati. Or Shari. The Stone of Destiny arc was originally in the development for Pendragon! While a third Weisman season on ABC would've had some hurdles, it would've likely been another well done season of television. It just wouldn't have resembled Clan Building, a product of hindsight and structuring that hindsight into 12 issues of comic book, as much as we'd like to think. There'd be some similarities, though. But Clan Building as present is NOT some mythically rejected storyline in favor of "filler."

"Gargoyles were made for Kids 9-11 years and that was the year when i watched the show. The Problem is the most Kids in this age don't understand the story they just see the actions and see the emotions. I never thought Gargoyles were made by Disney because Disney is other less Brutal easy to understand story. Gargoyles is more like Bob Morane a show that can only be shown at afternoon. Im now 20 and i still love the Gargoyles. But in that age i dont know why but the most adults dont like animated showes. And at that time it is difficult to air at 7 p.m."

What defines "brutal?" Darkwing Duck's daughter had lost her family. Simba witnessed his own father's death. Even recent shows like Tron: Uprising have genocide and prejudice as part of the backstories of a few characters, going to some chilling places given the source material.

For all that Gargoyles gets praised, by you, for its intelligent writing, you say NOTHING about the actual intelligent writing and ramble with barely comprehensible sentences about how "brutal" it is. What IS intelligent writing to you?

"Today its much harder to bring that show back, because the animators are split off and its much more unhandsome competition as in the past. The Kids dont want Intelligent stuff. They only want glittery blinky animations with much action and easy story thats enough for them. So sad it is."

And that's a ridiculous oversimplification of why shows succeed or fail. You sound like someone who hasn't actually watched a cartoon since he was a child and assumes all cartoons are bad because you saw five seconds of Johnny Test and totally remember what it was like to be a 90's kid. Brah.

You demand intelligent entertainment, but you can barely articulate yourself and your entire displayed basis for intelligence is how "brutal" something is. There've been plenty of intelligently done cartoons, some by former Gargoyles staff members!

You sound like an incoherent 90's kid who wants to cling to the thing he liked before. Like most animation fandom because, on average, cartoon fans hate cartoons.

"There is a much story that has to be told the future version of the gargoyles when the aliens attack. The only chance that i see is to make money by donations to create that lost episodes private and bring that finally on dvd. Other people with new inventions also do that to on a page."

And to correct your terminology: these episodes are not "lost." They were never MADE. The closest to a "lost" episode is perhaps The Last, an episode of Team Atlantis featuring Demona and making a few ties to the Gargoyles Universe. Your proposition, this only way to bring these stories to light, is actually technically illegal.

So there's that.

By acknowledging how hard it is to find a channel to "make Gargoyles", I assume "missing" means "unmade."

There's no real context where the Goliath Chronicles have ever equated to being missing.

Though I think the person most disgusted at Delilah's genetic heritage would be Demona - especially because of which gargoyle and which human were used to provide the genetic material to produce the original Delilah.

(And that's as close to a Demona/Elisa mating as we're ever going to see.)

Seeing how the other clones seem to be the Ones fulfilling the prophecies, it's likely Burbank will be the one I die in battle with Xanatos/Coyote.
Also, Delilah's feeling like an outcast could be indicative of the entire Labrynth Clan, with most of them having some human DNA. So within the Global Gargoyle Community, she and her clan are the minority.

Brack

@Todd - you are also taking it way to literally. "In various ways" - "Xanatos" in this case could well be Coyote - recall that the megalomaniacal robot Xanatos crafted in part after himself is going to try to take over the known universe in 2198? And Alex is certainly still alive then, if in stasis. We know Lex is going to "turn into" a robot (The little ones he designs, and maybe he'll even really go a bit cyborg). We know we'll have the Clone Wars. We know we'll get the Pyramid. Etc etc. So I think Hudson will die in battle, and I also think it will have something to do wit Xanatos. I also think Broadway's going to go/be struck blind.

@Chip - "You're forgetting the obvious. The rumors that the Labyrinth Clan still practices cloning. " Wait, what? Where doe that rumor come from?

FTBM

Yes, and Demona and Brooklyn will be mates. Xanatos will kill Alexander...]

Not to mention that the Xanatos of "Future Tense" was acting a lot more like a conventional (almost cliched) "take-over-the-world" super-villain than the Xanatos we know. (The main difference between the Xanatos of "Future Tense" and such cliched super-villains was that Xanatos was winning at every turn; even when Goliath seemingly defeated him - before it turned out that Lexington was the real "big bad" - Xanatos and his troops had killed almost everyone dear to Goliath except Elisa.)

FTBM> You're forgetting the obvious. The rumors that the Labyrinth Clan still practices cloning.

In other words...It's 2198 Delilah is a clone of Modern (1997) Delilah. In which case, the fact that she has human DNA is rather obvious, because of who her genetic template is.

Please. The predictions have been coming out. besides, could be Demona and Gnash ;) Or Delilah and Malibu.

Which leads me to a question - Delilah 2198 has a short description, which renders her character placement as being someone who feels they are an outcast due to their (extremely) minimal Human DNA - which should be even more minimal (originally 2%) with subsequent breedings, starting with Delilah (original) and Malibu. What I took from that is that, for whatever reason, Delilah 2198 has very few relatives in the Labyrinth Clan, to offset that oddness and make her seem less alone. Especially considering how small the clan would be to begin with, and how many offspring should result from each pairing (at least three although perhaps due to bio age Delilah original would be at 2?) Delilah 2198 should have plenty of relatives that share her DNA, and Greg W made it clear ppl. knew of lineage in that clan, so what gives? Does she somehow have far fewer? Or what?

Here's the problem with most fanfic writers: they seem to think Dominique is a second life. It isn't. Demona spelled it plainly in "High Noon." She's a gargoyle. Dominique is just a tool to help her in her goals. She'll use the form because she changes into a human, whether she likes it or not, but Dominique is not another life for her.

The Wind Ceremony
When a gargoyle dies, the disposition of his or her body depends only slightly on whether the gargoyle died during the day or at night.
If at night, the corpse is cremated.
If during the day, the rubble is pulverized.
(The notion of pulverizing the undamaged stone corpse of a gargoyle who has died peacefully in his sleep is disturbing. But in fact, gargoyles so rarely die peacefully in their sleep as to make this a non-issue.)

Based on the above, if Hudson dies of old age, in his sleep, that is - he'll be pulverized. However, given that Future Tense has come true (or will) in various ways, Hudson will die in battle, and it will have something to do with Xanatos (or Coyote, which still has to do with Xanatos).

FTBM

This is their culture, if a gargoyle is dead, they're dead. The Wind Ceremony is very important to gargoyles... why would they just leave a corpse standing?

Pulverizing a dead gargoyle wouldn't be that much different than cremation, I would think... but then, not every culture practices cremation.

I'm rather inclined to believe that if a gargoyle died in stone sleep and remained a statue, they would leave the statue standing, though. I would consider it a monument.

Of course, erosion could probably pulverize that statue anyway, given a few centuries. I think the only reason that the remnants of the Wyvern Clan didn't get eroded by the wind and rain during their thousand-year sleep was that they were still alive.

Paul - [nampahcfluap at yahoo dot com]

I dunno about the rest of you, but if I were in the clan's place I would certainly not pulverize the dead, even for a Wind Ceremony.

Battle Beast> I tend to think the clan would still powder him down for the Wind Ceremony. Presuming of course they were absolutely certain he was actually dead and not magically frozen or some such.

Wind Ceremonies seem to be a pretty big deal in gargoyle spirituality, to the point where Greg once implied that lack of one was a big reason the Coldtrio were never able to move on.

"Don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back, don't look away, and DON'T blink." ~Tenth Doctor.

I once asked if Gargoyles ever die in their sleep, and Greg Said yes, but it is very, very rare. I imagined that when a Gargoyle dies in their sleep, they just don't wake up. Their don't turn to flesh, they stay stone.

I don't know if that could or would ever happen or how Greg would handle that, but I think, personally, that would be a neat way to keep Hudson around; but on the other hand, have a corpse around all the time isn't exactly welcome, either.

I didn't try to read too much of it. I read the first six or so pages just to get a taste for what the book'll be like. Those Amazon previews have a ridiculous amount of pages, yet seem to skip others at completely arbitrary intervals.
