There is a poster of Aqualad in Gar's room during Image.
1. Since Rocket had debuted in May, was Gar aware that there was a public figure called Rocket before Image?
2. Out of the public figures, Robin, Speedy, Aqualad, Kid Flash, and Rocket, was Aqualad Gar's favorite before Image?
1. I don't know.
2. It seems so. But honestly, I don't even remember the Aqualad poster. I can't confirm it's existence.
Greg,
I noticed while watching Young Justice that Roy shoots his bow right-handed but keeps his armguard on his right arm, as if to shoot left-handed. I had originally meant to ask you why that was, but I think I have figured it out: is it because he is skilled enough to not need an armguard for shooting right-handed but has one on his right arm in case circumstances force him to change hands? This presumes that he has less practice overall shooting left-handed, or at least feels less comfortable in his ability to do so safely.
I like your reasoning!
Hello, Mr. Weisman. Hope this post finds you happy and well. I love and admire all your work (Gargoyles was a huge part of my childhood and still inspires me to this day).
My question is related to Young Justice:
Would you or have you ever considered doing episode rambles on Young Justice one day?
Thank you for your time (:
It's been brought up before. But I don't seem to have the time these days. But someday, maybe...
Hey Greg,
I was a huge fan of Young Justice when it was on air, and would even manage to wake up for it on Saturdays (Specifically for season 2) despite being a college student who loved to sleep in.
I especially loved Wally's character, and felt that he was the best character (With Robin/Nightwing being not too far behind with his constant prefix questioning)
My question is, which do you think caused the most people to react to Wally's sacrifice at the end of Season 2? The attachment to this specific Wally that you guys built up over two seasons, the fact that your Wally was the only remaining Wally in media at the time (As it would be a while before he was added back into comics), or the end of the show meaning that we might not know if he could ever return.
And heck, I'll add in another question. What was the inspiration for Dick's obsession with prefixes, and why he chose to use the non-prefixed words? Specifically Whelmed because that was always my favorite.
1. I can't speak for the fans. It sounds like all three of your suggestions played a role.
2. As I've stated many times before, Robin's "unwords" were inspired by actual conversations I had with my kids.
This might be a totally silly thing to ask, but it occurred to me today and has been bothering me...
If Nabu refuses to let Zatara remove the helmet of fate because he's afraid that neither Zatara nor anyone else would put it back on again, then how in the world does Zatara eat? There's no way to access his mouth with that helmet on 24/7. Does the host of Nabu no longer need to eat? And I'm not trying to be facetious, I'm 100% serious with this question. Like, in season two, Zatara has been Doctor Fate for over five years. Surely he's eaten something in that time? Or is his body sustained through magical means? Thanks for taking the time to answer all these questions!
Is Zatara still Doctor Fate in Season Two? What's your evidence for this?
In any case, I'm sure magic is useful for eating, bathing, etc.
Out of universe explanation for
1. Why was Hal used as one of the original seven members of the Justice League instead of John?
2. Why was Ray Palmer used as the Atom instead of Ryan Choi?
Beth Chapel is a skilled surgeon.
3. Why was Pieter Cross used instead of Beth Chapel?
1. Because, not counting Alan Scott, he was the first Green Lantern.
2. Because, not counting Al Pratt, he was the first Atom.
3. I honestly don't remember.
Does John Stewart have a mentor within the Green Lantern Corps?
Probably more than one.
1. Does Dr. Mattie Harcourt live in Boston?
2. What type of medical doctor is she?
1. Yes.
2. I'm guessing thorasic surgeon, but I'd have to do research to confirm that.
In Young Justice #14 Wyynde wears a golden diadem. A diadem is a crown worn by a king or queen as a symbol of royalty.
1. Is Wyynde royalty?
2. What Polis is he from?
Sorry, but no spoilers.
1. Did Carlo and his brother join Haley's Circus before the deaths of the Flying Graysons?
2. Did Dragon's Breath?
I haven't thought about the answer to either. I'm tempted to say, "no spoilers," but the truth is I just haven't needed to decide that yet.
1. What is Melisande's ethnicity?
2. Sensei?
3. Dragon King?
4. Black Adam?
5. Rako?
1. No spoilers.
2. Japanese.
3. No spoilers.
4. Egyptian.
5. Cambodian.
In Misplaced Cat Grant mentions Sabbac.
Is Sabbac Timothy Karnes or Ishmael Gregor?
No Spoilers.
Hi Greg!
About the League's leadership:
1) When Canary becomes leader, was it because Captain Atom's lenght was over or because he stepped down?
2) Can a member be leader two years in a row if he is elected?
3) In Legacy, Batman was acting as Team supervisor (or liason with the League), which is a duty of the League's leader. Almost at the end, he says "I've sent the League out to help quell the panic". So during early 2015, was he the leader?
4) If so, when did Batman's lenght as leader (during 2015) start and finish? And during 2010?
5) After Aqualad leaves, the task of recruiting new members falls into Nightwing. Does that mean he always recruits the freshmen or, like in season 1, the mentors bring them into the Cave?
Thanks
1. The former. In my head, I had a vague notion that it had been up for some weeks, but Cap stayed on to finish out the Reach crisis. But that's just a notion.
2. Yes.
3. Team liaison is not by definition a duty of the League leader. The leader can delegate that to someone else if he or she choses. But, it does seem that he's the leader from that quotation. On the other hand, he may simply have had monitor duty and was being a bit loose (and paternalistic) in his word choice.
4. It's a one-year term. I'm not going to be any more specific than that, at this time.
5. A little from column A; a little from column B.
Hi Greg. Why does Wonder Woman take Batman to task in "Agendas" for training Robin to fight crime at the age of 9 when she was trained to be a warrior when she was a child? Don't Amazonians start training young?
Sure. But training and going into action are two different things.
Hi Greg!
About Zatanna's Glamour Charm:
1) Is the Glamour Charm an ancient magical object or just a gem Zatanna made a spell on?
2) If so, in "Depths", when Wally asks, Dick says something like "Glamour Charm, Courtesy of Zatanna. Physio-morphic spell, I think. She said it backwards." So is it safe to say that Nightwing was there when Zatanna performed the spell?
3) Do all Glamour Charm look the same? I ask this one because Ra's recognized it in Summit
4) Is it too hard to make a Glamour Charm? Could Zee have done it back in season 1?
5) Has Zatanna worked with Doctor Fate after she joined the League?
1. I'd lean toward the latter.
2. Yes.
3. They all have something in common, certainly.
4. Probably not.
5. No spoilers.
Hi Greg, I've been reading the archives and I have a question about Aquaman:
1) Here (http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?qid=18518), you said Aquaman and Black Manta have been fighting for at least 16 years, but 16 years before season 1, Aquaman was 13. So have they been fighting since they are kids or it's just a continuity error?
Well, Manta was in his early twenties. Orin was a kid. But I think my point was that Manta has been at odds with Atlantis that long.
Hey Greg
1) What year was Dan Garrett and how old was he when he died?
2) This will probably be answered with a SPOILER REQUEST NO COMMENT, but I'll ask anyway. Is the original Black Canary alive? If no, can you tell me how did she died? I mean, natural causes, a disease, death by supervillain?
3) How do superheroes who don't wear mask conceal their identities? In some versions, John Stewart and Guy Gardner are public heroes and Black Canary wears a wig.
4) Black Lightning and Plastic Man wear goggles, do those work as masks?
5) Where do the Hawks live? The Watchtower, maybe?
Thank you for your time
1. Dan Garrett was born in 1915 (which I assume is what you were asking).
1a. He died in 2005. I'll let you do the math.
2. NO SPOILERS.
3. I think in a universe where Clark Kent disguises his face with eyeglasses, it takes very little to keep your identity secret from strangers.
4. I think i n a universe where Clark Kent disguises his face with eyeglasses, goggles work just fine.
5. NO SPOILERS.
5a. No.
Greg,
Why did y'all decide to make Artemis be a good guy as opposed to being a villain as she is in the comics?
Thanks!
Simply put, we liked the dynamic of a child of villains trying to forge her own way, but lying about it.
Here's a short primer on how fans can help to bring Young Justice back for a third season:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwoI2gSj1Sk
Greg, I would like to inform you that I have been making several recommendations to Netflix to bring the show back through them. I do not know how much it will help but I feel like it is at least worth a shot.
Thank you for creating such a great show!
Thank you for being a fan.
Those requests do help, I believe. But binge-watching Seasons One and Two of Young Justice on Netflix helps even more.
Do you think the newer live action movies based off of the DC comics will have any impact on the chances of Young Justice returning? Could it possibly make some new fans interested?
Anything's possible. But the best ways to get a third season of Young Justice are:
1. #KeepBingingYJ on Netflix
2. Purchase and binge the episodes from iTunes or other LEGIT sources
3. #BuyYJBluRaysDVDs
4. #BuyYJComicsonComixology or iTunes
When was Match created? How long was the gap between him and Superboy?
The year before Superboy was cloned.
How many miles a person have to be away where superman and superboy cannot hear with their super hearing in the earth 16 universe?
I dunno. Whatever seems reasonable in terms of sound waves not being interrupted by intervening stuff and/or spreading out so thin that sense cannot be made of the sound. It's a question for a physicist, not me.
i looked at genomorphs and after seeing M'gann true form I just have this on my mind.
1: Are genomorph made with White Martian DNA? Because they look a lot like M'gann.
2: Is Superboy a genomorph since he was created in Cadmus?
1. Not to me.
2. Yes.
I am a big fan of Young Justice and the Young justice comics related to the show. I was among the fans thats was crushed when it was cancled and even though its unlikely i still hope for more seasons. Anyway, on to the questions:
1.) in the comics i have noticed Artemis has blue eyes but in the show she has brown eyes. I was wondering if there is a reason.
2.) did Artemis character come off of DC Mia Dearden the 2nd speedy?
They both have the same arrow mark on their chest.
1. Production inconsistencies.
2. No. She came off Artemis, the daughter of Sportsmaster and the Huntress. As for her costume, it's an amalgam of different characters, but the biggest influences were probably Arrowette and Green Arrow himself.
