First let me say i really enjoyed the first season of young justice and couldn't wait to see the second season of young Justice!!But i wouldn't be honest if i didn't say that i was surprised and shocked at the changes that were made, the time jump of five years, the focus changing from the seven members from the first season and the big shock, Miss Martian and Superboy breaking up!!

Even those i could see that coming not because they weren't a good couple. A lot of things have turned out to be the same as the first young justice comic book series, you changed the way they get there, plus it seems everybody wants superboy to be with wondergirl like in the comics. As for me, i like Miss Martian and Superboy as a couple and hope they get back together in the future but that just me!! That being said, i did enjoy the first two episodes from season two! My Questions,

1.How tall is Miss Martian in her true form?
2.Did Miss Martian have anything do with Superman finally accepting Superboy?? She seemed to know he was coming!!I guess what i'm asking is did she talking to him.

Greg responds...

1. Pretty tall.

2. She was facing Superman and saw that he was heading toward Superboy. So she made herself scarce, so the two of them could talk. For more on the Superman/Superboy relationship - including what role M'gann might have played in it, check out our Young Justice companion comic (issues 20 (on sale now) through 25). This is a major subplot of the story.

In the comics, Bumblebee could not use her suit to shrink, nor did she have a relationship with the Atom, but in Young Justice she can shrink and is the Atom's sidekick/lab partner/student something (as of my asking this, only Earthlings has aired). These two traits wouldn't happened to be derived from another bee-themed superheroine owned by a certain other comic company, would they?

Greg responds...

Our show was NOT the first time Bumblebee shrunk. We got it from existing sources. So you'd have to ask the creators of those sources if Wasp was an influence on them. We are - as far as I know - the first to make Ray Palmer her mentor, but that mostly fits in with the dynamic of our series, and has nothing to do with Marvel's Wasp, who was in a romantic relationship with Hank Pym, not a mentor/protegee relationship.

So, if the theme of Season One was secrets and lies, what is the theme of Invasion?

Greg responds...

There are - and have always been - a lot of themes, and 'Secrets & Lies' is still the biggie.

hey Greg awesome job on the show. I am really loving how Megan's character is being developed. I love the fact that she isn't as inocent as she made us believe.

I have a questions regarding the episode "earthlings"

1.-Is Adam strange related to Hugo Strange?

thanks for your time

Wow! I was watching Young Justice: Invasion episode two and I must say, that was awesome!!!! But what caught me off guard, was when Adom Strange was talking about Alice and wonderland characters, such as the jaberwock and the bandersnatch. (sorry if I misspelled the names) I find it funny how he used that as a distraction. :) Why is it that many DC Universe characters are affiliated with Alice and Wonderland? (Characters such as Artemis and Adam Strange)

Greg responds...

Um... probably my fault. I have a fondness for the works of Lewis Carroll. Not on the level of my Shakespeare obsession, but I'm a fan.

On the other hand, Nicole Dubuc wrote this script, and I honestly can't remember if the Jabberwock stuff was her idea or mine.

Hi Greg, so far the second season is looking good. for this week's episode, I especially loved that part where Adam was acting like a bit of a nutcase to distract the guards. Special thanks to whoever's idea it was to make that Jabberwok reference and I look forward to seeing how the rest of the season turns out. A while ago, I remember finding a question in which you said the Flying Graysons "accident" happened on April 1st, also known as April fools day. Was there any particular reason for this? I ask because it seems like a strange and deliberate choice to me.

Greg responds...

If there was, I can't remember. It may just have fit in correctly on my timeline, which, if anyone is curious is currently 205 pages long. (And I still haven't had time to update it recently.)

K. As much as I loathe Season 2...
I have to say/ask:

1. Some of you love Season 2. Awesome. Good for you. Some of us hate it. Loving the new season doesn't give you the right to tell everyone else to "get over" anything, keep their opinions "to themselves" or to not post their feelings here. It's not your board. It's Greg's. Some negative reactions have been "approved". That tell you anything? It should. Yours is not the only acceptable opinion in the world or in YJ fandom (former or otherwise).

2. Liking/missing the relationship aspect of season 1 (and asking what happened?) does not make someone a "shipper". Stereotypes are just that. I moved out of my parents' house when I was 16. Got tattooed. Got into fights. Lived on the streets. Pulled myself up by my bootstraps, so to speak. I now have a good life. Have always had an active "intimate" life and have decent social skills. But? I LIKE COMIC BOOK MYTHOLOGY. See? Not a "geek" or "fanboy", etc. So much for being able to pigeonhole people based on what they like. Relationships are part of the story. Like costumes, to a degree. If Robin started wearing clown shoes, a ball-gag and a pirate hat, somebody might express their displeasure. Does that make them a "'stumer"? No. This isn't the "Big Bang Theory", so let's not entertain these insipid stereotypes.

3. WHY DO YOU PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW HOW OLD CHARACTERS ARE!?!? Every other question is "how old is Alfred?" "how old is Sphere?" "what is Batgirl's hat size?" Does this really matter... to anyone, on any level? Does not knowing Blue Beetle's exact age, Teekl's high school locker combination or Hawkgirl's bra size really keep you awake at night? If you enjoy season 2, just watch it, enjoy the ride and stop sweating the small stuff! Some of us are backside hurt over the time skip and quit watching after season 1! You're lucky if you're not one of us! Just be happy and enjoy the show.

Greg responds...

1. So you came onto MY board to tell others off? Fun times.

2. I really think you're posting this stuff in the wrong place.

3. So, you want the right to ask and/or comment on whatever YOU want to ask and/or comment about, but it bothers you that other people are doing the same? People have different interests. How does that take skin off your back?

Look, I'm sorry if you feel 'backside hurt', but you posted this after - at most - the second episode of the season. We didn't ditch out on relationships, even vaguely. You just lacked, what's the word I'm looking for? Oh, yeah. ANYTHING RESEMBLING PATIENCE. And I think your somewhat defensive, not to mention hypocritical post here demonstrates that.

Having said all that, I'm basically shrugging here. There's no law that says you have to like ANYTHING, let alone Young Justice: Invasion. But the exact same creative team worked on both seasons, and care deeply about all the characters. If you liked Season One enough to care this much about it, you might have given us a little trust and taken the chance that maybe, just maybe, we had a plan, and the characters you loved and the relationships that help define them, would not be left out of the mix. Just a thought.

Dear Greg,

Watched Earthlings today, very nice episode. First off, I gotta say I like Adam Strange and Beast Boy, you did great with Gar! I think I like him more in this than on Teen Titans. And I like you answering some questions about Megan & Connor, while bringing up more. And damn, Megan lobotomized that one! Nice. Now onto a question I didn't see in the queu;
Why did Adam Strange (or yourself) choose the Jabberwock poem? I heard that and went "Whaa??"
Awesome episode, keep it up!
PS-Got the YJ free comic book day issue. Nice!

Greg responds...

It seemed to fit the situation on multiple levels. Provided dialogue that was nonsense (to some degree) in ANY language, epitomized the feeling that Adam had that he was down the rabbit hole or through the looking glass to Wonderland, etc.

For what it's worth: I'm sorry the majority of your fans are too emotionally invested in YJ to realise that the very thing they love is something you give them. And that AskGreg is a privilege... not a platform to express a lack of gratitude and sense!
1. I'm writing the plot for a comic, and I've hit writer's block. Do you have any suggestions as to how to overcome it?
2. I mostly write on inspiration, as that's when I can create the best stories. When not inspired how do you continue to work on a writing project?
3. What type of people do you bounce ideas off of or have read over your stuff?

Greg responds...

1. Write anything. Market lists. Daily Journals. Whatever. Just get back in the habit of writing. Focus off the problem that blocked you for a bit though. The answer may come to you in the shower or something.

2. The characters tend to tell me what happens next.

3. My partners on any given project. (I rarely work in a vacuum.) Kevin Hopps, whom I've worked with for years and years now, is probably the best sounding board I've ever had.

Hiya,Greg, man I am even more psyched for this show now. The writing has really stepped it up. One thing bugs me though. Miss Martian. Under that sweet, cutesy exterior I really feel we have someone who is and should not be taking liberties and doing what she does. It's creepy and insidious what she does and I am thinking, Conner's instincts are leading him the right direction because she feels dangerous to me. This ability to invade minds...it bugs me.

I don't think as well, her being a shape shifter justifies her being with Conner as said by Alana. Dude needs to move on...no, cross that. He needs to allow himself to grow and experience the world. He is 5 year old kid. Kudos on Conner's emotional/psychological growth too. He seems less angry too and more in control.

And as for Lagoon Boy, why is he already slated as the "jerk"? He looks like a fish and acts no different to any boisterous teenager. This was the same thing said about Wally. I like underdogs. I feel sorry for him in a way. Anyway, I can't wait to see what the JL got up to in the 16 hours they were off world!!! Great, suspenseful, intelligent writing!!! And gorgeous crisp animation!

Greg responds...

Thanks.

Hi Greg - Thanks for answering our questions.

I love Wonder Girl in Young Justice. She's awesome!! I think shes my favorite character now!!
But I was wondering about her strength?
Because Superboy is the product of Superman, (and he's stronger than everyone!!!)
Does that make Wonder Girl second strongest in the Team after Superboy?

from
Pupz

Greg responds...

Yes. And a sorcery-powered puffer-mode Lagoon Boy is going to give her a run for her money too. But she's young. Give her time.

I posted questions up here before that you answered, so thanks for answering them. Loving season 2 so far, the new characters seem fun and I hope the older charaters get some of the spotlight.
I only really have 2 questions so far, both relating to Miss martian.
1.) so, I didn't really get the design change until ep 2. is the reason for her change of appearance because she looked like Beast boys mom, and she changed her appearance so he wouldn't feel like she was trying to replace her. btw, love their relationship.
2.) She acted really dark. was that darkness the reason superboy broke up with her, a result of the break up, or just a new attitude she developed after 5 years as a superhero and seeing what most villans will do.
Really liking her character. I never disliked meg, but she was probably my least favorite in season 1, she didn't grow on me till failsafe. Keep up the good work greg, and thanks for giving us this series....MY LIFE NOW HAS MEANING.
ps. loved mae as wondergirl <3
unrelated to the show, did you watch avatar the last airbender, and if so then did you cast her because you liked her in it?

Greg responds...

1. I'm going to leave this to viewer interpretation.

2. Ditto, though by now you should have enough info to make an informed interpretation.

3. Thanks... but if YJ is what gives your life meaning...

Greg, I really admire what you've done with Superboy in the episode Earthlings. You've made him more calm and levelheaded as he is no longer an angsty teen. Its also good to see him step up as a leader, like Superman. Thank you for making this character more likeable.

Beast Boy Fan writes...

I just saw episode 2 of season two that explained a little about Beast Boy, Superboy, and Miss Martian; and I have to say I did like this episode more than episode 1. The one thing I am curious about is Beast Boys appearance. I really liked the way Beast Boy was portrayed in the show Teen Titans, an easy going young teen who is a bit of a jokester but is a sensitive person to his friends, and from what I have seen so far you are continuing that very well. I will however say that when I first saw his appearance, prior to episode 1 airing, it was a little off putting, since he mostly resembled a humanoid chimp; but after I saw him animated the appearance didn't bother me as much. However, when I saw episode 2 and I saw the scene when he changes back into his "human form", albeit with green hair and skin; it made me wonder it maybe his Beast Boy "form" was really a shape shifted form that he just stays in similar to M'gann's green martian form. It could be a way of of him escaping the fact that in his normal human form he couldn't do anything but in his humanoid chimp form he is free to be himself again; similar to how M'gann doesn't roam around as a white martian. I was just wondering if this is true. My reason may be my own I just wanted to know if he decides to stay in a permanent shape-shifted form similar to how Miss Martian stays in hers.

Also on a side note, I hear rumors about upcoming heroes that will be added to the show, besides the ones that are already confirmed, and I believe Raven is one of them, though I may be wrong. I hope that she can fit in well with this universe and still has a relationship, somewhat, with Beast Boy. No response it needed for this, I would just love to see the whole Raven Beat Boy relationship again.

Greg responds...

For the record, we're NOT continuing anything from the Teen Titans television series. Since we're all operating off the same source material, there's bound to be elements in common in our portrayals. But that's it. To be clear, I'm not claiming any superiority. Just clarifying that YJ is it's own... Beast.

Beast Boy's monkey-boy form is a choice - but I'm not going to go into how CONSCIOUS a choice it is. I'll leave that to the viewers' interpretation.

In a recent response, you said that there were at least seven major characters you wanted to include in season 2, but couldn't because there wasn't space for them. My question is: were those seven characters B08, B09, B10, B11, B12, B13 and B14? Am I right about some of those guesses but not others, or am I completely wrong?

Greg responds...

Well, B-Zero-Eight is Zatanna, and B-Zero-Nine is Rocket, who are both in the show with significant supporting roles, so you're clearly wrong about them. But, yeah, you're right about some.
