In the comics, Bumblebee could not use her suit to shrink, nor did she have a relationship with the Atom, but in Young Justice she can shrink and is the Atom's sidekick/lab partner/student something (as of my asking this, only Earthlings has aired). These two traits wouldn't happened to be derived from another bee-themed superheroine owned by a certain other comic company, would they?
Our show was NOT the first time Bumblebee shrunk. We got it from existing sources. So you'd have to ask the creators of those sources if Wasp was an influence on them. We are - as far as I know - the first to make Ray Palmer her mentor, but that mostly fits in with the dynamic of our series, and has nothing to do with Marvel's Wasp, who was in a romantic relationship with Hank Pym, not a mentor/protegee relationship.
Censorship questions!
1)There was some occasion in which you thought you wouldn't be allowed to do something in YJ for censorship reasons, but instead you were allowed to?
2)And some occassion you couldn't do something or had to (at least slightly) alter it for censorship reasons?
You're asking me or telling me?
So, if the theme of Season One was secrets and lies, what is the theme of Invasion?
There are - and have always been - a lot of themes, and 'Secrets & Lies' is still the biggie.
hey Greg awesome job on the show. I am really loving how Megan's character is being developed. I love the fact that she isn't as inocent as she made us believe.
I have a questions regarding the episode "earthlings"
1.-Is Adam strange related to Hugo Strange?
thanks for your time
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
I was quite suprised with the implication that Delilah might take Malibu on as her mate, as his mental development would in line with a child right?
Could there be somewhat sinister Demona-eque reason for Delilah remaining with Malibu and the other clones? You've mentioned, or at the very least it's on the wiki that she's the natural leader of the clones given her education. Does Delilah has Demona's urge for power and leadership? It would seem that Malibu would be a far more passive mate than Thailog and no threat to her attaining leadership of their clan. Or am I perhaps judging her too harshly?
No. Malibu lacks education. There's nothing wrong with his mind. Which renders the rest of your question moot.
I was looking up the Marvel Gargoyles comic. If you wanted to use to use any of those characters are they considered marvel characters or Gargoyle characters? It's probably a non issue but I am curious. Venus seems like such an obvious character to deserve a parody, although Delilah probably already fills that role.
I'm not really in the business of parodying Gargoyles' characters. (That's really more of an Edmund Tsabard thing, and even that guy went out of business.)
I don't know what the legalities are, but I'm not to interested in importing non-canon characters into the mix.
Why did the following villains join The Light?
1. Lex Luthor?
2. Queen Bee?
3. Ocean Master?
4. The Brain?
They were all invited and liked the idea. Don't overthink it.
who all lives in the cave now that 5 years have passed
Superboy, Miss Martian, Lagoon Boy, Beast Boy, Mal Duncan. (Not sure why I answered that, but...)
Hey Greg,
I know a lot of people consider Gargoyles to be an anti-Disney show due to its dark tone, but I think it actually has a lot of similarities. Both Gargoyles and other Disney films adapt mythology and famous stories in their own ways, while featuring strong emotions and conflicts(okay, those might be a bit general).
My question is, did Disney storytelling have an influence on the making of Gargoyles, and the eventual integration of different mythologies?
I'm sure it did, since I grew up on Disney movies. But we weren't consciously trying to either DO DISNEY or NOT DO DISNEY. We were just doing GARGOYLES.
Hey Greg,
You mentioned that you received a list of pretty much every teen hero in the DC Universe, from which you and the rest of the creative staff picked the show's line-up. Did you ever, upon learning about a character, think "Wow, what a stinker! This guy is crud. Yeah, we're not using him/her." I'm NOT asking you to name specific characters obviously, but did you ever have that reaction at some point in the process?
No, that's not what I 'mentioned'. I didn't 'receive' a list. I put the list together myself.
I'm making a big point of this, because I see this happen all the time. I write something, however innocuous. And then like a child's game of telephone it moves through the fandom - on one board or another - and soon enough people are posting (with TREMENDOUS CONFIDENCE, mind you) that they know X is going to happen because "GREG SAID SO." When in fact, I never did. (Heck, sometimes I said literally the opposite.) Trust me, I see this over and over and over again. Sometimes, it's amusing, sometimes annoying, sometimes infuriating.
So I think it behooves us all to STICK TO THE FACTS and to KEEP THE FACTS STRAIGHT.
Now, back to your actual question: there are obviously some characters that are more interesting to me than others. Sometimes because I'm more familiar with them. Sometimes because they suit our needs. Sometimes because they're just flat out cool. And there are always going to be others - in a universe as big as DC's - that don't grab me as much. But there's honestly not one character on our teen hero list that I'd rule out absolutely. As I've said before, if we can make Professor Ojo kinda cool, there's little I'd be afraid to take on with this crew of talented folks on YJ.
