Comment Room Archive : Gargoyles : Station Eight

I had some of the Gargoyles figures at one time. The Goliath I had was the Stone Armor version, as well as the Stone Colored versions of Broadway and Lexington. Had one Steel Clan and the Xanato decked out in his Armor. Also had Elisa, Macbeth, Demona and Bronx.

I had all 4 of the Season 1 VHS tape which have seen some VCR problem. Same with the pilot movie Heroes Awaken, but to my luck, the library store had another copy which views perfectly.

I have a Brooklyn pencil top, and the comics both Marvel & SLG (also the first part of the Disney Adventures story with Goliath replaced with a stone statue). Have the first Clan Building Trade as well, and the first four issues of Bad Guys. Plus, I have JLA Showcase #1 which contains the Gargoyles/JLE/Captain Atom story.

Hah! I remember the pasta. I love how the shapes of those things almost never looked like what they were supposed to represent (not that I paid attention to what it looked like. I was a kid, I just shoveled it in my mouth).

Does anyone know how many food products they made?

Litwolf: I've only seen one of those kites on Ebay, years ago. They're insanely hard to find. I was lucky to find that kite for dirt cheap all those years ago! Really, it cost me like three bucks. :P

The pasta is very real and there's no way I'm opening up that can. I suspect very dark things lay dormant inside that can, ready to jump out and eat the unlucky soul that opens it.

Someone really should write up a page of Gargoyle merchandise. That would be helpful to know what to keep your eye out for. Like at yard sales and eBay.

I know there was a Gargoyles ice cream pop. It had nothing to do with Gargoyles and it tasted horrible, but I bought it anyway!

It was nice to see the kite in the bag again. I had no idea it was called the "Wind Racer Kite." That kite has been adorning my wall for over ten years now. You can see my kite here:

Gore-that's something I never got-any of the gargoyles food(I don't even think Franco-American exists anymore). Think there was also garg lip balm-which i also never got. Also heard of a Garg cake decorating kit.
Also the infamous Gargoyles tent, which I also lost out on at the 1998 gathering *pouts*

Jonny - I've already answered your question over email. You seem to pay attention to a lot a Gargoyles and cartoon related sites as I've seen you ask this question many times before. As long as you check back regularly, you'll be among the first to know when there are any DVD release plans.

Just for posterity, here's what I already emailed Jonny:

There are no plans to release Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 on DVD and it's impossible to predict when it will happen, if ever. I suspect it will happen eventually as DVDs become cheaper to produce. Or perhaps the episodes will be released online, but there's no way to know when or if it will happen.

Greg Weisman has stated in the past that now that the DVD plans are out of Disney's attention, even more sales of the first two DVD sets will have to occur to get Disney to take notice again. There weren't enough sales of Season 2, Volume 1 to warrant continued releases in Disney's mind. The bottom line is that the only way to make it happen is to buy every new Gargoyles product that is released (only SLG comics, these days) and to attend the Gathering of the Gargoyles ( http://www.gatheringofthegargoyles.com/ ) to show Disney that there is fan support. But the most important thing to do is to SPREAD THE WORD (as Greg would say). Tell as many people as possible about the show and try to convert them into fans. Expand the fanbase. It's all about money. The more fans, the more money is spent, the more Disney will want to capitalize on Gargoyles and release more products.

But again, to force Disney to want to release Season 2, Volume 2 right now, there has to be a significant spike in sales of the Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 1 DVD box set.

I'm willing to bet Xanatos needed a roadster for the same reason Elisa Maza needed big guns and a rocket jet pack, because in the minds of toy makers, no boy age 8 to 12 would ever play with just a regular old Xanatos or Elisa action figure.

Landon Thomas - The Xanatos vehicle included a stand alone Xanatos figure(one without an Exosuit)-which is why it was important to get it. At the time, my local toysRus had a pile of them, and I shipped a hand full of them to other Garg fans around the U.S. At the same time, that's how I got some of the garg stuff I got. Other Cool Garg peoples helped me find pieces I was missing.

I can only assume the World Tourists are Goliath, Elisa, Angela, and Bronx... during the World Tour. It's not a term that was ever used in the show, or any canon-in-training either.

Litwolf: The Garg Doormat I managed to get at the 1998 Gathering(the first one I attended) as part of their auction. It was the first of several they had up for bid and I paid quit a bit for it(something like $70 bucks). Oddly I've never seen one since anywhere). Not even on ebay.

Yeah, the Wikipedia Gargoyles page seems to be getting worse and worse over the years, mostly from bloat. I think it's more embroiled in politics than most fan pages. It started going downhill when they removed the main logo from the top for BS copyright reasons.

Phoenician-I collect comic books, so I knew about the SLG books from Previews catalogs. It wasn't very heavily marketed however from what I saw...they probably couldn't afford a whole lot of marketing. I have a few black and white issues and the Clan Building trade Vol 1.

Gabriel: I was nowhere near this site when you last visited (I was fortunate enough to have Toon Disney close at hand and was able to enjoy it late at night for a few years, before I found this site years later), but I'm still glad to see someone found their way to the DVDs from YouTube. Welcome Back. :)

I'm actually curious to know whether you have heard of Gargoyles' intended 3rd season with the recent comic books and Trade Paperbacks . . . if you haven't already discovered that from reading the posts here or even by looking at the upper righthand corner of this site ;)

Matt: Glad to hear you have another fan so close by. I converted my roommate last year with essentially the same process (DVDs followed by YouTube and then the comics) and he eagerly awaits the TPBs as much as I do. (He's also a big Spectacular Spider-Man fan too, coincidentally.)

Garg-Non-Canon-Lit: I only ever owned that one picture book having the abridged version of "Awakening" . . . and being, uh . . . six at the time, I guess it was fair territory. I can still remember the multi-picture shot of Goliath and Hudson turning to stone before the Massacre. If nothing else, that book was great to have simply for having a hard copy of the excellent animation Gargoyles was famous for. :)

Speaking of which . . . I'm keen on the story as well, so frankly, I'm open to really any 'style' of animation. If the story is good enough, I'm bound to get pulled in whatever universe of whatever design, and shows such as Gargoyles, Spectacular Spider-Man, Kim Possible (shoot, even South Park), are perfect examples.

Don't know why I've written so much so late in the night and after watching all of the film Spartacus without even taking advantage of the Intermission. I should be TIRED . . . guess not :P

Man, I haven't been to this site in 8 years...awesome to see the fans are alive and well! This show and specifically, the chat room on this site, enabled me to fall in love for the first time, way back when.

I fully admit I watched the entire 2 seasons of Gargoyles on YouTube. Then I went out and bought the dvds. It motivated me to do so, after years of hemming and hawing. And there are some great extras on the dvds, particularly the commentaries Lotsa great info!

Roy, I love Lost Odyssey! That was excellent work! I cried when the children's mother died in that tiny cottage.

Gargoyles> I pick up any old Gargoyles merchandise I can find right now. I was too old for the children's books, but if I had gotten to *see* the series when it had first came out, I probably would have snapped them up just for their association with the material, even if they were crap (like I know realize the older comics are).

I picked up a deck of Gargoyles playing cards at a thrift store recently. Some cool artwork that I hadn't seen before (like stylized "badges" of Goliath and the Trio), and the box art had a painting of the Trio *skateboarding*.

Animation> I'm more of a story buff, but I completely agree with anyone who noted that the sleeker, more stylized designs of today are easier to animate. They aren't hard on my eyes at all.

Though I felt Gargoyles managed to keep a good sense of fluidity to its animation, even in the badly-animated episodes. It's gorgeous, even at its worst.

And I love, love Transformers: Animated. *All* TF shows are made for the kids, but some manage to get other good things along with it.

I used to have a small "Gargoyles" booklet that came with stamps depicting the various characters, which could allow you to imprint their images in the illustrations in the booklet. The story itself was an extreme simplification (it had the gargoyles, after defeating Xanatos, stuff him into a cage in the zoo - a fate that I can simply not imagine befalling Xanatos in the series; whenever he lost, he lost with dignity). I no longer have it; I donated it to the auction at the 2001 Gathering.

LITWOLF> Yeah, I've read a few of the books based on "Gargoyles" (and yes, there is a coloring book). As for whether they're worth buying...well, that's hard to say. For me they're worth it purely from a MST3K point of view--I like to make fun of them.
The Scholastic/Parachute Press books are adaptations of episodes. The first is an adaptation of "Awakening" (all five parts in 62 large-type pages) and is entitled "Stone Warriors Rule!" No, that is the actual title--exclamation point and all. The other is "Demona's Revenge" and is based on "Long Way to Morning." It is very obvious that both are written for very young children--the books use less contractions than even Goliath, the trio is given practically NO individual personalities whatsoever, and story and character elements are simplified. Oh, and Demona and Goliath "shared a friendship" once--no mention of them being, you know, MATES.
There's also the Golden Look-Look books (two of them), which cover "Awakening" (again) and "The Edge." In the latter case the book focuses completely on the heroes, and gives Xanatos short shrift (no sparring session with Owen, no reveal that he's in the crimson armor, etc.).
As for the other books that have been published...actually, now that I think about it, I can try to write up some material about all this for Gargwiki and post it all there. Let me see if I can find some time to do that this weekend.
Anyway, for me the books were kind of worth it. They gave me a kind of "Gargoyles" fix before the new material came out, and (for much the same reason I will sometimes try to watch TGC) something to complain about. Hey, sometimes I just like ragging on stuff. ;-)

Gore-The Chuck Jones Tom & Jerry's always reminded me of the Grinch-since Tom's facial expressions were so close to that of the grinch(and were done for the same studio and around the same time as that timeless Christmas special). The Spectacular Spider-Man animation style never bothered me. Not even the no-pupils thing. I can't get my head around that being a problem. In fact the only time an animation style was ever a problem for me was, as a kid, watching non-Hanna-Barbera Tom & Jerry shows. Even as a kid, without knowing the history or anything, it was obvious the HB T&J shows were the best and whenever a Chuck Jones or Gene Deitch episode came on I'd get annoyed at the, what felt to me at the time, more old-fashioned style of animation (since 1960s animation was "old" to me, the 1940s felt "new", funny that).

Being from the artsy end of cartoon production, I'm one of those who cannot ignore mismatched character design, wrong lighting(color palette) or bad animation, no matter how well written the story is. Art/animation is subjective, but elements should never overpower(or underpower) each other in a cartoon. My personal opinion, anyway.

When artists like Takeuchi at Disney Japan helped define the character design, environment and props on Gargoyles, a lot of effort was made to make the world visually believable. Characters were designed around real human proportions and different races. Environments were often taken straight out of coffee table books on New York. Most props were all based off the real thing(we really couldn't find a self reloading bazooka for Demona at the time). But if something ended up looking too distinct(a certain model gun or car, for example), our prop designer skated around the issue by mixing it with another design.

This might sound good and all, but most fans don't know how hard it was for us at Disney Japan to suddenly jump unto a semi-realistic style show like Gargoyles. We were still finishing up Aladdin and for years, were doing other Disney Afternoon shows. Our veteran artists had the toughest time transitioning(you haven't lived until you've seen Goliath stretch and squash), but hey, I'd like to think it was something that was necessary to match the great writing of the show.

I'm a huge fan of Cheeks' art so I guess I'm biased (I have a Captain America wallpaper he put up on his deviantart as my desktop background right now), but I'd say the art choices on this show are, up and down, pretty much perfect.

I once saw "Survival of the Fittest" on a 40-inch screen. I've seen the episode a bunch of times but never on anything that big. And that first scene really caught me off-guard because you really feel the speed and scope and dimensions of the city. It gave me a real rush.

That dynamism is largely down to the look. The fights being fast and brutal and balletic and inventive are the other side of the coin to the lean, streamlined designs. "Realism" is totally overrated. In real life, guys in Rhino suits and wrestling costumes would look preposterous and slow. Even Raimi's huge-budget films feel slower and more theatrical in the main. Whereas even a low-key fight on Spectacular is intense.

The character designs are fantastic. Characters who need to be physically imposing like Lizard and Rhino have a proper heft to them and still move like greased lightning. Electro and Venom in particular have never looked better. Electro had a silly costume, but on this show the same shape and idea is given a cool rationale and he looks amazing. Venom's horror stylings always stuck out like a sore thumb in the rogues' gallery but now he looks like a completely organic part of it without losing any of those things that made him cool and iconic. Giving him a wider face and more of a jaw emphasises his physical threat, while replacing the slithery stuff with specific 'horror' features (like the mouth in his chest) still makes him feel creepy but makes him come across as more of a shadow Spidey.

The normal humans look great too. Granted, no eye pupils. But the way they dress, the way they hold themselves, the way they move -- they've got charisma. And because they're streamlined, we can see scores of name characters milling around casually.

It's not about being kiddy or stylised (though FWIW I think it's neither especially): it's about, what makes the story better, more exciting, more funny, more dramatic, more vibrant, more action-packed. And that, at the end of the day, is what makes a great cartoon.

(Since Hudson isn't bald, the idea has come up that Broadway's lack of hair comes from his biological mother and Greg has described Broadway's biological sister Hyppolyta as tan colored and bald, though none of this is final until one or the other or them appear in a canon story.

Greg has said that the Loch Ness Clan have wings shaped like a manta ray's fins and dolphin-like lower bodies. The question this raises is whether the Loch Ness gargoyles are amphibious or strictly aquatic. If it's the latter, it seems highly unlikely, if not impossible, for members of the clan to meet and eventually mate with members of the Wyvern Clan or other clans of land-going gargoyles.

My personally feeling is that Broadway might have some Loch Ness ancestry, but further back. I'm guessing that if his mother had been from the Loch Ness Clan, we would have had at least some hint of that in Greg's description of Hyppolyta. And I imagine parings between the Loch Ness and Wyvern clan gargoyles were fairly rare. Though it's never been stated outright so far as I know, it seems fairly likely that Loch Ness Clan gargoyles have evolved to swim instead of glide, which would make things very difficult for a gargoyle from either clan trying to adjust to life in the other clan. But again, none of this is official yet, so feel free to speculate.

On a related noted, there is a gargoyle in the Avalon Clan who has several fins and other aquatic looking features, which had led some fans to speculate that one of his biological parents was originally from the Loch Ness Clan. Gargoyles on You Tube - I think most people who watch Gargoyles on You Tube are from UK (or maybe a few other country's) because the DVDs have never been released over here but you can buy them on Amazon but they are only region 1 so we have to have a multi region DVD player and Disney channel haven't put on Gargoyles in years

Matt, that's cool that you were able to effortlessly get your new dude into Gargoyles (or rather, he showed the interest). The guy I've been seeing on and off for the past year is also interested, in fact it's the only series of mine he's expressed an interest in watching for some reason (and he's had me promise to wait until we move in together to start on the highly regarded and almost completed Battlestar Galactica--I'm dodging spoilers like crazy, online forums are buzzing with 'em). Aside from Firefly (which he liked very much, though I find his taste in sci-fi questionable because he loved Star Trek: Voyager and specifically Stargate: Atlantis), I haven't tried to get him into anything else, though he likes to poke at me for liking certain popular shows (he saw an episode of Lost before he knew me and hated it--but it was a random Season 2 ep and seeing Lost out of context and out of order is largely pointless. Uh, heh, defensive mini-rant** on that follows at bottom of post for anyone who enjoys rambling/loves Lost/loves to harsh on Lost). I think he'll get a kick out of Gargoyles and probably appreciate the inclusion of historical and mythological references, history buff that he is. Might be impressed at a cartoon being so well put together and planned too, we'll see.

The Bowen statue is very nice, I think I may've said this already the last time it really came up in here recently, but...price...can't. Which is a shame, because a lot of people buying that statue would probably send a very strong message to Disney. But if it's a limited run of 2000 or whatever, it'll probably sell out no problem anyway. Looking forward to the cheaper Electric Tiki, more animated series-looking version though, will put aside some cash for that.

Great to have gotten a comment from Dan Vado about the trade paperback collections of Bad Guys and Clan Building.

Can't wait for the full season set of Spectacular Spider-Man. I'm a little spoiled for it from reading some of the discussion here and elsewhere, but oh well.

To be honest, even though it started out exceedingly mediocre and has still managed to have some off episodes throughout its Season 1 run, Wolverine & The X-Men has been a pleasant surprise in some regards (and a number of episodes have been excellent). I didn't watch X-Men: Evolution (wasn't interested in the characters in a more highschool/teen-focused setting), hadn't really paid attention to the franchise since the `90s Fox series and reading some of the comics during that decade, aside from also watching the big screen films. I thought I was sick of the X-men, but...I guess not. It's not DC Animated Universe-level storytelling, I dunno, maybe it will be...but it's definitely satisfying my need for regular animated action-adventure programming every Saturday (we're up to about episode 20 in Canada, on the station YTV, with six more eps to go--if you're curious, I'd say wait for the DVDs, they'll be widescreen, the show is aired in fullscreen. And one thing I can say has been consistently excellent is the animation. The action scenes are some of the best choreographed I've seen in a North American action-adventure series, especially when the whole team is involved--though yes, I know it's done by Korean animators--and, despite the title, the overrated runt hasn't completely dominated the show, there's a nice balance for the most part. Sometimes Wolverine isnt' even in an ep).

Hugely encouraging to see all those hits/views of Gargoyles on YouTube.

**Lost: I think it recovered beautifully toward the end of Season 3 (actually I liked most of that season), hugely in the excellent but Writer's Strike-abbreviated Season 4, and is doing great so far in Season 5. But hey, I'm patient and locked in to the show for its now-planned Season 6 conclusion, after being pretty iffy about the show after Season 1's padded/stalling finale and during some of the more trying periods of Season 2. Unless Season 6 absolutely sucks, I'll consider it a worthwhile ride and will be recommending it to anyone who feels like investing in a long-running series. Though there're definitely other shows I'd recommend before it (Six Feet Under, Deadwood, The Shield--hmm, still haven't rented the last three seasons of that--tons of other shows), I realize a lotta folks, like him, will only watch genre TV, that it has to have sci-fi or fantasy elements, can't be a straight up drama. So Lost, along with a few other sci-fi shows and maybe Buffy/Angel if he'd give 'em a chance (probably no luck on that, despite liking Firefly), are all I've got as offerings for now.

As someone who's enjoyed cartoons with varying designs, I'm not bothered at all by SSM. I mean there is a place for cartoons with realistic and detailed designs, but not every show needs to be done in such a manner to be good.

In an effort to move this Comment Room towards a positive and Gargoyles related conversation...

So, I've been dating this guy for about four months now (yes, yes, this will soon be Gargoyles related, I promise!) and I like him a lot. One of the things that I really dig about him is that upon realizing how much I like Gargoyles (the posters, the piles of comics laying around, the constant checking this site and GargWiki) he asked me to show him Gargoyles. All of it. He really wanted to see the series from start to finish (or rather, where we are right now, since I don't consider the series finished). So, months ago we started with Awakening and have been slowly but surely making our way through. He says his goal is to complete the series by the time I leave for the Gathering. As we are currently at "Heritage", I'm sure we'll make that goal. And of course I'll give him the comics to read after "Hunter's Moon".

The point of this lovely tale is twofold. One, as I noted, we most recently watched "Heritage". That makes "Kingdom" next and after that we are done with the DVDs. In order to continue we have to go to YouTube. I want to second Gorebash's recent comments that we should support and watch and comment positively on these YouTube pages and also promote the DVDs and comics and shirts and other merchandise there as much as possible. Moreover, I have heard some fans express the desire to remove these videos and I hope they see that that would be conterproductive. I think that the first season and first half of the second season could and probably should be removed, but leave the unsold episodes available, I say. If Disney has a problem with them being up, they should offer the videos for sale and then I would probably support removing the final episodes from YouTube.

The second reason I'm telling you all this is that watching the episodes anew and in order with lots of his observations and comments has been really refreshing for me. Listening to his ideas and notions of what is happening or what will happen to the characters has been really awesome. I love the new perspective. For instance, after watching the first couple minutes of "Heritage", he said "So Avalon sends them to different times and places?" Apparently, he thought that perhaps they were visiting a pre-Columbian Native American culture when actually it was a tribe in modern times. That Avalon would send people through time had never occured to me before, but certainly makes me think about Timedancer.
He is obviously still struggling to figure out the whole "sends you where you need to be" thing. After "Heritage" ended he asked me, "So, I suppose they are heading to Africa next?" I asked him to elaborate and he said that he thinks Avalon IS trying to send them home, but is getting confused. Goliath and Bronx are from Wyvern and Avalon sent them there first. I've told him before (I think it was during "Deadly Force") that Elisa was half-African American and half-Native American though I didn't specify beyond that. So after Wyvern and then a Native-American owned island, he figured Avalon would catch up with the rest of Elisa's ancestry and send them to Africa. (I didn't tell him that he was right, but for the wrong reasons.) Anyway, it is another cool perspective thing and I'm enjoying it.

I know I've ranted a bit here, but I think it's pretty cool.

I personally love Transformers: Animated and look forward to the next season. I also pray there's going to be at least one more season, but I'll take what I can. As far as the writing, I think majority of the series has very good writing. There are stand out episodes, like the more serious "Thrill of the Hunt," and the more fun "Garbage In, Garbage Out," and I think they're doing a good job within the constraints of the series' target audience (young boys) while still appealing to outside the demographics and a number of the old school fans (that in itself is a mountain of a challenge). The episodes are very stand-alone, but, like Gargoyles, has had overarching arcs over the course of each season. Referring back to "Thrill," which I love as a very dramatic episode that looks back at Ratchet's time during the war and the wounds both physical and emotional he has to endure. A good amount of the cast has very well developed personalities that evolve over the course of the series. And I like how they use the human villains (except Professor Princess, gods she annoys me!): it keeps the Decepticons from becoming the constant losers they tended to be in the original series so when the Autobots actually go against them, the stakes are higher.

Is the series for everyone? No, some people will never see it as anything other than another reboot, or don't like the art style, or just don't care for it. Is every episode spectacular? No, but then alot of us could point to episodes of Gargoyles that didn't work overall, or at least you don't like personally. But for those who like it, it's a good series and one to enjoy.

On a more personal note, I wish you wouldn't speak for "the old school TransFormers fans." I've been following TransFormers since "Beast Wars" was on the air and my husband has been a fan since G1 and we both like "TransFormers Animated" a lot. I know there are a lot of other fans who enjoy the show too; I've seen them posting on the TransFormers fan boards. Personally, I couldn't stand Armada, Energon, or Cybertron. I found them all extremely formulaic, with nearly every episode featuring the same MacGuffin hunt and the same outcome and virtually no time spent on developing the characters. You keep bringing up big exciting battle scenes, but I've got to tell you that's not really at the top of my list of reasons why I loved "Beast Wars." I Loved "Beast Wars" because it had great characters who were multifaceted - not just "I'm the leader" "I'm the tough guy" "I'm the smart guy." The stories were complex and compelling and showed the character growing and changing over time. Yes, there were some good fight scenes. I like Rhinox going all John Woo on some Preds as much as anyone. But without the backbone of characters and story, they'd just be eye candy and nothing else, and I probably wouldn't look back on it so fondly so many years later.

Look at shows like the original, Beast Wars, and Armada. In Beast Wars, Armada,and even in Energon they had great story lines and even had some Transformers DIE. I've seen some pretty badass Transformers toys at my local Wal-Mart and Target and I'd wanna see a show based on them not some friendly neighborhood series that is way too light tone than the series I liked growing up.

I wasn't trying to dis, insult, make fun of, or say anything offensive about the writers of Transformers Animated. I want to be a writer for a television/movie studio so I wouldn't bash writers for television/movie studios.

Whether they're successful or not is absolutely for you and other viewers to judge. But calling them lazy is insulting. You have no idea how hard they work, under what kind of schedule and what kind of corporate constraints. Is it so hard to raise the level of discourse in this room above the insulting?

The new Transformers series sucks big time. Mainly because it's for real little kids and the writers are too lazy to write anything good for it. There's no big battle scenes or any of that cool stuff from the other Transformers series. I liked Beast Wars the best and Armada 2nd best. Energon started out good but got boring halfway through and I couldn't keep up with the story. Cybertron was the worst I watched it at first but lost interest. I never saw the original.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of the animation in Spectacular Spider-man either. I'm fine with most of it. The thing that bugs me is the characters' eyes. Most of them have those big googly toony eyes, which I hate. Plus I never liked Peter's nose...

It's something I can overlook, but it still bugs me. I understand the benefits of stylized animation, but did it all have to be SO stylized?

Unfortunately it's not a book where one can just ignore an ugly cover. The whole animation style is an integral part of a cartoon series, and the best story in the world can't make me enjoy the series when I find the animation style so horrendous. What ever entertainment I'd derive from series would be overshadowed by me getting constantly worked up over the animation.

And it's very rare that my opinion on a series changes after the initial impression.

Gargoyles was one of the two series were I saw a very little blurb in the TV guide and knew before having seen one shred of animation that this was a series I'd enjoy very much.
Other series mostly get their first episode to grab my attention, even if they have "ugly" graphics.

Since we had Star Wars, while I enjoyed the last three episodes (the original ones), I couldn't even manage to get through the first new one.

Will the last Gathering's radio play be posted on YouTube or the ilk after the trade paperback is out?

Look at the channel comments.
Look at one of the videos (pick any one) and look at the comments.
Look at the view count.

These are exactly the same kind of reactions I received for the last 10 years whenever I bring up Gargoyles. Everyone has really good memories of the show. Everyone really liked the show.

Nobody knows there's a DVD.
Nobody knows there's a comic.

A couple years back we harped on this "get the word out" or "spread the word" or "tell 1,000 people" and so on. The idea that we all travel in our own circles outside of Gargoyles and perhaps you could spread the word over to these others areas. Say you're into Warcraft, you bring it up in a forum post for example. Or you're into biking. You bring it up there. Etc.

Problem is, the circles we travel in are typically close-knit groups. And there's a lot of cross-over too. We just don't reach far enough into the consciousness of the "general public".

Now maybe YouTube is different. I'd say you get a wider variety of people visiting YouTube than you would a forum about 90s cartoons. Maybe that's where you start to make some headway into the consciousness of the general public.

I mean, look at the kind of traffic an account that holds ONLY Gargoyles material attracts. Now I'm not going to go and put episodes on YouTube 'cause I don't want to risk Disney's ire. At the same time, holy FCK look at the interest that it generates.

And that's without any active marketing (which the DVD releases never had either).

Now maybe the owner of that YouTube account is part of our community. Maybe they might read this and could go back in there and pimp the DVDs in both the channel description and individual video descriptions. That'd really help things out a lot. But whoever it is hasn't apparently logged that account in over 6 months. So it might be a dump and run.

So, maybe we dump some links into some comments about the DVDs and the comics. Problem is they vanish off the page quickly once 10 more people reply, but it might help get the word out a bit further. But it can't be spam. It can't be "GO BUY THE DVD AT AMAZON". It should be something like "Hey, I like Gargoyles too. It's great that they have the episodes on DVD and that they even have a new comic book! I can't wait for SLG publishing to release the trade paperbacks." And maybe you stick a link after that.

I'm just rambling at this point. It's just frustrating to see that there's clearly an untapped market for Gargoyles out there. Especially as the fans when it originally aired are starting to have kids of their own who would also dig the show.

We should not tell people that Disney isn't planning on releasing S2V2, because then some people will say things like, "Well if I can't get the whole series I'm not going to buy any." I think we should just make them aware of the existing DVDs, comics, and shirts, and NOT let them know that the property is currently struggling slightly. If I knew that a particular property was struggling, I wouldn't get involved in it. But if I was oblivious, I might buy some stuff and inadvertently help "save" it.

During the voice actor auditions, I ran across someone familiar; Kath Soucie(Princess Katherine from Gargoyles). We ended up hiring her for the role of a child character, but during the recording breaks, we had a lot of fun talk and laughs over the days during Gargoyles. I tried to get Keith David on board as well, but I was given the budgetary, "no." Bastards.

Spectacular Spider-Man> See, I really like both the story and the visuals. I've never been one to argue that superheroes need to stay in the era they were created in. The 1960s aren't essential to the Spider-Man story, even if that's the time he came out of. And really, the Lee/Ditko and Lee/Romita stuff is trying to place Spidey in the real world, to the extent that a comic of that time could. Spidey doesn't patrol Metropolis or Gotham City or some other fictional place; he's in New York. So to me, it makes sense that the show's setting feels like the modern-day real world. And I'm fine with it not feeling like "The Marvel Universe" either. Sure, it would be great to see some characters from other Marvel properties show up, but we're just coming up on the second season now and there's still a lot of Spider-Man stuff to cover. Plus, it's very easy to overdo the "one cohesive universe" idea. By the time the FOX Spider-Man series wrapped up, the show contained everything but Kitchen Sink Man, sometime at the expense of it really feeling like a Spider-Man show. And the more other heroes you introduce, the more the audience wonders why these guys couldn't take care of the rampaging supervillain for once and let Peter have five minutes to run home and drop off Aunt May's medication.

As for the visuals, I understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea and even I think the final product doesn't look quite as nice as an actual Sean "Cheeks" Galloway drawing. But I still like it. I think it's a fun take on the characters that sets the show apart from previous versions of Spider-Man. And as Greg W commented in an interview I saw before the show even started, there's a reason the designs look the way they do. Not continue beating a dead horse, but more streamlined designs are easier to animate and tend to look a lot better in most cases when you're talking about TV animation. Look at "Gargoyles", even. When the show was animated by one of the better studios, it looked amazing. But when it wasn't, you had everything from Goliath's chin being drawn wrong to downright bad animation, and that's the parts that weren't cut out and replaced with the time filled by "Previously on 'Gargoyles'." Or, for a more direct comparison, look at the FOX "Spider-Man" from the 90s. I'm sure those model sheets looked really nice and sometimes, you'll get an episode or parts of an episode where everything works. But most of the time, you can just see the animators struggling to keep these complicated designs on-model and move them around in a way that results in appealing animation.

Give Spidy a chance. After all, Gargoyles was a departure from what disney was doing and we gave it a chance. Been watching season 2 on Teletoon and there have been some really stellar episodes.
On the other hand-the new transformers was a major let down to me. Was a fan of the original series, and I just can't handle the new character designs. BTW-the original series is apparently set for re release on DVD this summer. Since I missed it the first time around-this might be the chance to get it.

Even though I like Spectacular Spiderman, I would not deem it excellent. It is nice and cool to watch and has some really good character development, but is far from something outstanding.

The show is good, but still as this episodic feel to it, and doesn't really give me the impression I'm in Spidermans world. Much more, it is a Spidermanized modern day world.

So to me, you're not missing that much. It is good and all, but if you hate the animation, then I guess you won't find a lot in the plot to keep you going.

I'm not sure if everyone will agree with me, but Disney REALLY has gone down hill. I'm not lumping Pixar or Disney together, because Pixar actually does make pretty good films. But Disney's quality of fim/cartoon's has really spirraled down into a dark, dark place! When Bolt was released, crituqe's said it was "Disney back on form." Which is basically a way of saying that Disney's films have sucked for awhile. Gargoyles was a long stretched for Disney, but it worked! The amount of fan's it had is almost crazy! I'm not sure there's anything else that's ever been Disney stamped has been as good as Gargoyles. But if Disney re-opened a Gargoyles-releated project, then I can gladly say that they WILL be back on form.

As the story of Darth Vader unfolds, I really appreciate that he was just a regular kid, with hopes and dreams, and naive - thinking that no one could ever kill a Jedi. It's very interesting that despite the odds, he becomes a Jedi. Unfortunately, for the audience, they wanted to see a badass. He's not a badass, but a pathetic cry baby who desires power and control. That's the sad story of Darth Vader. If you can't accept that, then you'll never see the beauty of the Star Wars films as one cohesive movie. Try not to view them episode by episode, but as one complete saga.

About these rumours - Seriously guys, NEVER trust ANYTHING on the net when it comes to film prodution.

Even though people might take them out of context, thinking it is true when somebody states that somebodys work is all destroyed or if the heirs of somebody want to remake a certain saga, no link, quote or source is given, and you belive it... I mean, that'd be as if I'm going to come up to you in real life and go "Yo, thecity was just invaded by Transformers." and you all go "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

I don't want to pick on somebody or say that it is OK to claim such things or so on, but - really, just don't believe it, until it is *proven*.

Especially in here, on wiki or random message boards.

Personally, I'm fine with it. That is why I never ask people for a source like GXB does. I take it as apiece of information that might be but doesn't have to be true or is subject to change.

I'm fairly weirded out especially about people asking if Vinnie meant that Geaorge Lucas remark seriously... although it is imaginable, it is highly unlikely this will EVER get made.

I never said that Cars or Rataouille are not good movies, but they are completely different from movies like Final Fantasy: The Spirits within and The Beauty and the Beast.

As for The Princess and The Frog, at least something that's potentially interesting. Although currently the movie sounds more like a generic humans-turned-animal-having-fun-with-other-animals/lets-mangle-The Frog-Prince flick.
But it is certainly not a must see for me just because Keith David is in it, and in a version that won't be showing in the local theaters to boot. Keith David was also in the Bay Transformers movie game, together with the iconic Welker and Cullen, and I didn't get that either. Greg does/did current Spiderman series and I'm not watching that either.
I'm mostly past the stage where a name will do more than make me take a second look, the product as such has to stand on its own qualities.

I remember the last movie version of Rapunzel, it was in the Barbie movie line, so excuse me while I remain skeptical that it will be just like I wanted.

Well, we don't know yet, whether it is the kind of good stuff I want to see or only more good cartoony stuff of the kind I don't want to see. And up till now, the recent releases where all 3D cartoony stuff, or this superstylized stuff (Disney's last 2D animated movie in 2004).

Don't lump all Disney/Pixar movies together. For one thing, both Cars and Ratatouille are very good movies for their genre. They're not sophisticated, but they're not meant to be. Second. Your assumption is based on a serious lack of knowlege. Disney will be releasing "The Princess and The Frog" a traditional 2-D animated film this Christmas. It promises to be great fun, and a must-see for gargoyles fans. (Keith David voicing the villian! Does it get any better?) Then they're going to release Rapunzel in 2010 a computer animated Fairy Tale...just like you wanted. And under the Disney/Pixar label, "The Bear and the Bow" (based on a Scottish legend, if I'm not mistaken--and I'm not!) will be released in 2012.

There's plenty of good stuff coming. So don't be complaining that "all we get are 3D cartoony Cars and Ratatouille". (Which I rather enjoyed both...)

As for current vs. past animation. I don't think that the computer is the problem in itself, but rather this new super-stylized design.
It's entirely possible to do pictures looking just like or even more detailed than hand-drawn animation. I don't don't who of you has read "Understanding Comics" by Scott McCloud. He has it as an evolution, beginning with simple pictures evolving into very realistic looking pictures evolving into artsy, super-stylized pictures. And then the circle begins anew. It's my hope, that in time we'll cycle back to somewhat realistic looking.

But I'm especially irked by the current real film trend, as if all the Science fiction and fantasy stories, comics and cartoons, only become valid and "proper" when they get a real action movie.
I vastly prefer animation.
I'd also hope that there will be more movies using the potential for 3D computer animation. Currently about all animated movies in cinema, are 3D and colorful family pictures. Look at the Disney/Pixar movies, there are more legends and faerie tales they could do, but instead we get 3D cartoony Cars and Rataouille. I had hoped for more movies along the design line of Final Fantasy: The Spirits within, instead the same stylized designs taking over 2D animation took over 3D animation, too.

I'm missing the luscious finesse of Beast and the Beast (which had stunning unobtrusive computer animation to enhance certain scenes) and it's companions. And it is possible to be no less stunning with complete computer animation, Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II even more so showed what's possible on a simple PS2 with it's very own graphic engine. And it did so on the Disney movie, there are a few really great scenes in the game, including part of the famous ball room scene from Beauty and the Beast.

I'm missing the animation style of the 90s which gave us Gargoyles and Escaflowne and so many other series. I'm not watching the new Spiderman or the Transformers animated series, because I loathe the animation stlye.

Rebel- there is a difference between simply disagreeing with what someone says and putting them in their place. Personally I read the rumor and believed it, as I am sure many others have too. And had it not been for Greg W. comment many people, including myself would've believed the rumor still, as Demonskrye also mentioned.

While I agree that there is no point in beating a dead horse, in this instance Vinnie had to me put in his place, and I think that others who posted after Greg W. were only letting him, and others who might have similar thoughts in the future, know that this kind of behavior is unacceptable, and will not be tolerated....From no one here. Can I say something? Not to be rude or anything but I think it's something that needs to be said. It's not something that relates only to this specific instance. I've seen this happen here before and I don't think it's appropriate.

I don't think it's necessary to reprimand Vinnie any further. Greg W's post was enough. Every post that came after that which was directed towards Vinnie was entirely unnecessary. I'm sure he got the point after Greg W posted so there was no need for anyone else to chime in.

Sorry, it just really grates on my nerves when people beat dead horses like that. I'm not just talking about this particular instance, but it's something that seems to happen fairly often here. I think we need to give each other more credit and understand that most people only need to be told something once. There's no need to "gang up" on anybody. If you disagree with what someone is saying/doing, but another poster has already voiced the same concerns that you have, then just bite your tongue. If the offender persists, THEN add your thoughts, but said offender should first be given an opportunity (after the initial warning/reprimand/whatever) to stop what he/she is doing before multiple people start doling out their criticism.

I remember seeing these shows when I was a kid, that had these dull designs... especially the characters with only one facial expression. So this is better. ;)

I did not mean the realistic tone so much, but rather that the 2D animation gave it moe depth, and therefore made it more realistic.

Whilst I dig Spectacular Spiderman, it still feels a bit... bubblegum compared to, say Batman TAS.
The animation is the main reason why I disliked THE BATMAN so much.

It seems to me that you generally like animation that looks more realistic as opposed to the more graphic style that we see in a lot of cartoons today. That's fine. Thing is, the more realistic stuff is a lot harder to draw consistently and animated well, especially in the modern TV animation system where you have multiple studios working on one show with various deadlines. Even "Gargoyles" was not immune to this. It doesn't mean that animating a character with a simpler design is a piece of cake, but it does help some. And personally, I'd rather see simple character designs that look pretty much the same from scene to scene and move well, like this:

When I was at Disney, computers slowly started to trickle into even the cost-conscious world of TV animation. Gargoyles was still done the "old-fashioned" way, while we started to use computers to color digital scanned cells on the Aladdin series. Specifically, it was first tried on the "Of Ice and Men" episode where an ice efreet character's outlines couldn't be the traditional black color, so it was digitally altered and colored. Now computers are a given on most animated series.

While I lament the loss of popularity of hand drawn animated cartoons, I would hardly call computer generated ones any less "real" than penciled ones. I've made the transition from drawing to using computers to animate, but I'd be damned if anyone would call my work any less authentic than when I drew things frame by frame.

@ Demonskrye: From what I've seen (and that ain't much - then again), most of the "modern" Disney stuff looks pretty edgy, but has this dull Comic-style to it.

Basically, it looks like those kids comics looked in the late 90s, but feels derived from artistic, uh... well, take a look at that Gargoyles banner. What do you see there? The drawing is pretty detailed and looks like there's loads of effort in it.

Loads of it is animated on a computer. Whilst this is cheaper and VERY fast (just as an example: The guys from South Park can put a show together the day it is aired!!), it lacks texture and realism. Even though GARGOYLES or FUCK TALES was set in some kind of a fantasy world, it felt like a "real" world. These shows feel like... yeah, childrens comics. Like... Powerpuff girls. :S

I mean, I grew up with these shows... and they just don't make them anymore, artistically. :(
Same goes for movies. Even though as an adult, I can appreciate a film like SHREK or WALLIE, it certainly ain't no Beauty and the Beast or Robin Hood. Films like Madagascar and Ice Age feel hysteric and over the top to me, cause they're so bubblegum-bright and shiny and, in some way, flat, cause all this animated skin and fur and doves never bear the texture of the purple guy up there to the right in the banner.

Maybe it is just me being nostalgic (I listen to vinyl also and try avoiding CDs), but it just feels... yeah, as Giza said. It's not the real thing anymore... :|

If they're in different scales and price ranges, there might be enough difference between the products to make them different licenses. But right now, the main difference I can see is that Bowen's statue is a somewhat more realistic interpretation of Goliath while the Electric Tiki offering is shaping up to be more accurate to the cartoon model.

Modern TV Animation> Frankly, I've lost track of what TV cartoons Disney is still making and what is just in reruns. I've liked some of there more recent offerings, but again, I don't remember what they're working on right now.

There are still some cartoons being produced for TV today that are enjoyable, both in writing and visuals. I've been enjoying "Batman: The Brave and the Bold," "Star Wars: The Clones Wars," and "Wolverine and the X-Men" (though the latter's animation quality is much more variable) and I'm looking forward to the return of "TransFormers Animated" - featuring some former "Gargoyles" voice talent - this weekend. There's always good and bad animation out there, if you just know where to look.

Now as for the roles of computers: there are few - if any - cartoons on TV today that have not been touched by a computer in some way. Most if not all TV cartoons are now at least colored and composited (taking the characters, background, and other elements and putting them all together) on the computer. I'm guessing that what Landon is talking about when he brings up cartoons made "100% on computer" are cartoons made with Flash. Flash is a computer program which can be used to make animation. To understand what Flash can do, imagine a single drawing of Goliath. Now imagine that various parts of him - his eyes, mouth, hair, head, torso, arms, legs, wings, hands, tail - are all on different sheets of clear plastic, or "cels" if you already know your animation terminology, all stacked on top of each other to complete the full image of Goliath. The advantage of doing this would be that if Goliath were to move only his eyes and an arm, the artist could simply make new drawings of the appropriate body parts and leave the rest alone. This has actually been done in 2D animation, though seldom if ever to the degree I suggest. Hanna-Barbera was particularly fond of this technique. It's why so many of their older characters have large collars; it makes it easier to put the head and body on separate cels. But doing something where every part of a character has its own separate cel all the time is pretty impractical. Animators would often just be making more work for themselves and unless the character stood in the exact same position again, the drawings could not be reused later in the cartoon. What Flash does is allow animators to manage layers digitally. Drawings of various parts of a character can be freely moved, rotated, scaled, warped, and saved for later use. The program can even help some with the movement. An animator can place an object on one side of the screen and then the other and the program will fill in the in-between steps. It can be done completely on the computer, or the drawings of the various parts can be made on paper and then scanned into the computer. But either way, someone is drawing or otherwise creating every single piece in the cartoon and someone is is deciding which piece to use when and how to move them around. Like any kind of animation, it has its strengths and weaknesses. There is some pretty bad and unappealing flash animation out there, but there's also "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" which I think is one of the best looking TV cartoons of the past decade or so.

Gore-Re Statue: yes! that's exactly the story I remember. There was actually an unpainted(all white) prototype of that statue(with wings unattached) up for bid on ebay many years ago(I have pictures of it saved somewhere on disc). It went for somewhere around $500 or something like that. At the time, I seem to recall the auction claiming there were only 2 or 3 in existence.

I'd love one of those statues, I simply can't afford it *cries*

Some interesting background on this. From what I've been able to gather, this piece was originally created back when Disney was working on getting a live-action Gargoyles movie. But that never happened and they killed the production run of the statue.

Then Bowen tweaked the statue a bit (so as to not look like Goliath) and release it as "Bowen's Gargoyle". But Disney didn't like that at all and killed it again.

Now it seems Bowen and Disney have come to terms and this statue will see the light of day after all, and under the original idea that it is an interpretation of what a real-life Goliath would look like.

Anyone know any more or can correct what I've said if its wrong?

Anyway, has anyone seen the new Spiderman series Greg's been working on? The artwork isn't the best, but it's plot pretty deep and the character's are very original. I especially like the way the Lizard was introduced.

Queeny - That's why I was wondering if there was a human hand involved. There are 'Amazon stores' for other cartoons so there's probably some automation, but I've never seen that rendition of the logo before.

And the reason modern cartoon art may be unappealing is that most cheaply produced cartoons are done 100% on computer, even if it's in a '2d traditional' style.

Also what you said is true. Disney doesn't give much credit to Gargoyles. Ever since Gargoyles finished Disney's just gone from bad to worse! I mean, have you seen the artwork for some of they're cartoons? A lot of shows don't have any good artwork, no offence to the artists, but half of them look like they were drawn by 4-year-old's!

Queeny & Brook - Well, we're not completely in the dark on the trade paperback release dates. The current SLG line on both the Gargoyles #2 trade and the Gargoyles: Bad Guys #1 trade is 'summer'. Recently the president of SLG, Dan Vado, has "assured" Greg that both will be out before Comic-Con, which starts on July 23: http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?rid=811

Now, Garg comics have been delayed before, but it's been rare to get an "assured" release date from Vado, so it has some clout.

Also Queeny, you'll find that most of the posters here have read Bad Guys. Otherwise, the Bad Guys trade coming out this summer (hopefully) will carry those four plus two more unreleased issues.

From what we've last heard from Greg W, it's just a matter of time now. Approval, manufacturing, shippinh etc.

I read BAD GUYS 1-3. PERSONALLY. And that really says it all. PERSONALLY, I feel that they are superior to the CLAN BULDING arc. But that has a lot to do with the artwork of certain episodes and the letdown of #6 being a bit random and 1-5 being a but, uh, "rushed", as discussed before.

BAD GUYS feels much more adult and thought out to me. The artork is stellar and the characters are belivable and interresting. The backstorys of them are illustrated very, very well. Especially #2 was fantastic, but so was #3. The comic-relief moments strewn in throughout the series are also very funny and outshine Thailog in Toga any time.

@ Rebel: Yeah, that'd be the obvious and logical choice.

But I'd love it if it'd just go overboard and be a one-off-fun thing, ye know. Kind of like how there was one issue during the last Batman run that was written entirely in prose, with 8 or so pictrues strewn inbetween.

@ Queeney: We do not know yet, unfortunately. :( From WHAT we do know, the issues are almost done (like, 99% or something) and should get approval by... the end of 09.

They're in TPB format, and there will be one that collects the entire BAD GUYS run and the remaining 2 issues and the entire CLAN BUILDING run of 7-12.

God, yeah, don't make me start on the RTL runs. I only heard of those, I got in when Super RTL was showing it, but they messed up the running order pretty badly too.

I agree with you, I think making up this stuff is rather bitchy.

But rumours are the blood and bones to a fan community. The speculation and weighing out of true and false are what makes it interresting. I mean, if I knew what Season 4 would be all about, I'd quickly loose interrest in it.

Personally, I don't believe anything if it doesn't come either from Greg or is source material that I hold in my hands. Apart from that, I don't give a damn. And with the next season, I really try to keep as far away from any greg related information as possible, knowing that that would spoil the storylines quite a bit.

And I totally agree with ALgernons statement.

"If it's on the internet, it must be true."

I just came across so many ditched projects or switche artists, that I came to accept that nothing is final except for the end product.

So there really is no hurt with rumours or gossipping for me.

And I'd be all over Bild if they'd ever report about Gargoyles.

Actually, I'm rather happy about Kahey, the early time slot means that they have less reason to cut or otherwise maim the episodes or endings.
Quality is passable, too.

I really hope they do a rerun, so far they managed to broadcast the episodes in the correct order. RTL was really really terrible in that regard. Vows came some time after outfoxed. High Noon immediately preceded the World Tour eps, which started with Shadows of the Past. The Avalon three-parter came after about seven mixed up World Tour episodes.

I'd never claim to have info from an official source (e.g. Greg), if I didn't really have such info.
And I think it's wrong to claim one has info from an official source, when one doesn't have. (It's a low-life Bild method, who make up citations as they want, too.)

If one is having fun with fake rumors, leaving out sources and thereby broadly hinting that it's just for fun, is the way to go. (Or claiming one heard it from a friend whose cousin's third removed girlfriend's dentist told him).

Feck, Kabel 1 is so damn annoying. From all spots, the one at 6 in the morning seems just... unbearable. Kids these days aren't up at 6 anymore, especially not the generaton that would actually get kicks out of GARGOYLES.

The musical episode is is actually going to be semi-Timedancer. I met Greg in this chat room some time ago (he was there under a different name though) and he told me these facts:

- the plot revolves on Demona, who's fixed herself a new clan. She realizes that her recent plans to destroy mankind were rather lame, and not to get pwned by Goliath/Manhattan Clan/Hunters/anybody else, she sets out to form a rock band, called "The G-tones". They do heavy rock.

- Demonas song is basically a hard rock song about how much she hates mankind. The song becomes an instant classic and is #1 at the billboard charts, thus guaranteeing a world tour, in whcih wake Demona will try to destroy all listeners via a magical death song, entitled "the mystical magical death song". She changes the title into "fluffy bunnirabbits I like" though to make it more accessible for a mainstream audience.

- meanwhile, Lex is moaning in a song that he's still single ("Where's da love at?", which is kinda techno to correspond with Lex overall electro-theme). Brooklyn's busy telling his clan of his journeys by weaving the tales into some cool modern post-punk (Bloc Party ca. 2005). Broadway wants to get it on (cover of Sean Pauls "Let's get it on in the early morn' "), whilst Angela is a bit hesistant (covering the classic "I'm not a girl, not yet a Gargoyle").

- Meanwhile, Goliath and Elisa kinda get it on (S&P still has to be checked) in a hot tub (scene courtesy of that Truffaut remake "Orriginal Sin", scenes of Banderas and Jolie might be cut in, nobody gets the difference though), whilst "I can feel it comming in the air tonight" by Phil Collins plays in the background.

- Fox and Xanatos have a fight. Fox leaves, Xman sings "If you donÃ¤t know me by now".

- Into this everyday routine in the Eyrie Building, Owen points out that Demona plans do destroy mankind, via a new song (doing so by rapping it to the entire clan/Fox/David.

See, here's the thing about tossing rumors around, even as a joke. There's always the danger that somebody will not understand that the information is either a rumor or a joke or the statement may get taken out of context and before you know it, it's traveling all over the web and being added to and gaining more "credibility" until you get someone coming into the comment room three months after someone here jokingly suggested that Disney was planning a complete "Gargoyles" DVD box set saying "Hey! I just saw on this DVD news website that Disney is going to be releasing a complete "Gargoyles" box set with commentary on every episode and a fully animated version of "The Last" and a two hour "Making of" documentary and a trailer for the live-action movie!"

I personally prefer British. Unfortunately Tony Jay isn't among us anymore, he was very very good at being cultured evil. He voiced Anubis (which I haven't heard in English yet).

Being German, the generic German villain always sounds ridiculous and not evil to me.
French wouldn't be bad either, they could go for sexy evil. ;)

I'm looking forward to season four, too, I heard there's a musical episode coming. I'm a sucker for musical episodes. :p

Although currently my biggest hope is, that Kabel 1 will rerun Gargoyles after the current run. I'd like to record the episodes to DVD, and the current broadcast has better quality than my VHS, they may only run one credit for two episodes, but that's better than getting the ending credits of a random episodes for episodes on end, with additionally voice overs and other annoying things. I can live with the two logos instead of one, even if they are very colorful.

I remember all these "Hey guys, I go the leaked Dark Knight script. The Joker is totally going to pwn Batman, spilling acid on his uniform, and Batman has to strip it off and Joker kicks his ass and Batman ends up in a lake, half dead." Ah, can't wait for B3. :)

Anyways, I think Carnage is quite a safe bet. His Ego got a cameo, so... it'd be cool to se if Greg could improve the character.

Woud anyboy be psyhced about Greg doing a more adult animated and themed DAREDEVIL take??

I think I asked that before... anyways, DD never really got a good show running, in the same vain that Gargoyles and Batman TAS turned out it'd be amazing. Greg writing this would be one of my dream projects to see.

For example, I could easily say that season three is going to feature Magneto and Dr. Doom. It's not, but you'd definitely want to verify that.

Apparently Greg now has the rights to Kingpin, according to some random person on youtube. He will appear in Season 3 of Spectacular Spider-Man. Other rumors I hear are Beetle and Boomerang will be in the next season. The most possible villains to appear in Spectacular Spider-Man that have not been announced by Greg Weisman are Hydro-Man and Jackal because they've already introduced their alter egos and Warren could start the Clone Saga at any time.

Dan> Not to burst anyone's bubble, but Gargoyles showing up in a Kingdom Hearts game is a rumor at best. I can't be certain, but I think the same rumor may have surfaced for the first time before Kingdom Hearts 2 came out and claimed that Gargoyles would have a level in that game, which of course did not happen. I love Kingdom Hearts and I agree that Gargoyles would make a really fun level, but I don't think it's going to happen. The game focuses largely on classic Disney movies and Mickey and his pals with a couple of Final Fantasy characters sprinkled in. The scopes has been expanded some with levels based on TRON - a well known cult classic live-action Disney film, Pirates of the Caribbean - an insanely popular modern live-action film, and Nightmare Before Christmas - another cult classic which is hugely popular in Japan. The closest thing to a character from a Disney TV show that I've seen in the games is Uncle Scrooge in his DuckTales outfit, and even he appeared in theatrical cartoons before that (just with a different design.) Much as I'd like it to happen, I just can't see SqaureEnix basing a level around a Disney TV show that's over a decade old and does not have a huge fanbase in either the U.S. or Japan.

Hi guys, just to cheer anyone up, if anyone is a little depressed. And to reply to what grey b said last week about gargoyles may never come back. Actually, I believe back in 2005/2006 when the second season, volume 1 came out, I remember reading on the comment section that if kingdom hearts 2 did good, square was thinking of putting gargoyles in either the portable kh's or kindom hearts 3. Sorry no sounce link. But lets cross our fingers and hope.

Ask Greg is in template. Need to tweak it a bit more I think, but nothing related to critical functionality. Added some code to autolink URLs in Greg's rambles like you see here in the CR. We'll see where things go from here.

Someone asked about online info on Jeff Bennett a week or two ago. He just gave an interview about playing Joker and Red Hood on Batman: Brave and the Bold: http://www.comicon.com/ubb/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=538108#Post538108

He'll be the first actor to interpret the Joker since Heath Ledger. And I can't remember the last time he's given an interview for anything.

Random Shakespeare news --

Apparently the folks that be are 90% sure that they have perhaps the only painting of Shakespeare that was created during his lifetime. What's cooler is that the discovery was made so soon after they found (what they beleive to be) the foundations to 'The Theatre' - One of the Bard's old stomping grounds . . . well, before the Rose Theatre and the more infamous Globe Theatre, I beleive.

Not a bad time to be a Bard fan I guess, right? On a Gargoyles note, I'm now curious if Macbeth ever had a copy or two of original Bard paintings lying around to keep him financially stable . . . I'm sure his old drinking buddy wouldn't mind :P

Some of you may remember a long while ago, I was asking about gargoyle mating cycles for the sake this fanfiction. Now you can all see why. If my math is right (and Ive calculated it about a dozen different times so I better be right), Yama will be banished about eleven years before the first mating flight of Sora's rookery. I hope his banishment doesnt last more than nine years or he'll miss flying with his mate! :(

So anyway here's my story. I dont think I like it nearly as much as I like first Gargoyles fanfiction I wrote (which you can see in my profile; its called Way Back When) but I like it. And its the first time Ive written from an actual gargoyle's POV. That was more difficult than I thought it would be! ^_^

Anyway, if you all have time to read it, I would love you forever if you could read it and give any and all thoughts you have on it. Im always looking for ways to improve my writing so all comments are welcome. Thanks guys!
