I honestly don't remember when the family got internet, we had to make some changes to allow for school work for me and my siblings and I got my first email account during the late 90's but could not place a date to it. Funny the things that we take for granted weren't so wide spread not that long ago.

I have to agree with Todd that the animated series rather obviously was more advanced in technology than our own, as evidenced by the robots. Heck, I'd love to see how it advances with maybe Xanatos introducing flash drives a few years early.
Hadn't thought about the time difference either.
One thing they brought up that I also hadn't thought of until they mentioned it was Jackal's ability to search for the Mayan Sun Amulet on a computer, and how the Internet wasn't that developed back in 1996. I suppose you get simply used to technology being more advanced in animated adventure series like this one than in real life. Of course, back when the episode first aired, I hadn't even gotten on the Internet, and only knew it by reputation, without giving it much thought. I didn't first encounter it until the autumn of 1996.
Phoenician> That is a really neat catch on the time difference that didn't even register to me even after listening to Voices. Love it.

Another great Voices from the Eyrie. Watched the episode after the podcast (which is reverse of what I usually do), and
appreciated the detail about Guatemala being an hour off from New York's Eastern Time Zone reflected in how it was already dark for Hyena at the museum but still dusk for Jackal at the Villa.
And given these shipment delays, I was more than happy to share my kindle version, morrand. Plus, when this fandom sometimes takes five-to-ten years to see one another at conventions, it was nice catching up in person!

Just finished listening to the podcast, and enjoyed it as well. Thanks for your insights on the Mayan clan, Matt; you're definitely the one to go to in analyzing matters relating to gargoyle biology and culture.

Voices posted for one of my favorites: "The Green"! Loved hearing from Elisa Gabrielli on her thoughts about Obsidiana's character. Really think it is cool that she thinks Obsidiana can sense the "pulse of the forest". Makes me really see some similarities between Obsidiana and Coldfire. It is not canon (yet), but I suspect that she is something of the priestess for the Mayan Clan. Really cool. I also agreed that each of the four Mayan gargoyles really had unique characterization. The way I see it is that Zafiro is the stoic leader unwilling to budge on his beliefs, Obsidiana is the healer and mystic, Jade is the tough protector and fighter, and Turquesa is the historian, storyteller, and traditionalist. Love this clan and really enjoyed this episode. Well done!

@Todd Jensen, listening to you, I realized that Disney has a lot of real historical details hidden behind the storylines. That makes me appreciate characters like Scrooge McDuck even more, because not only are they interesting characters, but they also have a historical ‘legacy’ behind them.

Do you think there is any way AI can be controlled or reoriented to help humans without becoming a “slop machine”? Or will we just have to learn to “live with it”?

Third? Must be the heat keeping everyone home.

Many thanks to Phoenician for letting me get a peek at Demona #1 on Monday. Now I'm even more eager to get my copy and really soak it in.

First, but on a interesting note, it's funny that we have a conversation on AI and it's problems when that turned out to be the main story of the latest episode of Last Week Tonight. Mostly on AI slop and how it pervades social media, other websites and even politics (sigh).
