As you can see, I'm doing a LOT of signing. I'll sign anything you bring along for free. But I'm also bringing a single copy of EVERY one of my Young Justice teleplays (i.e. the ones that I personally wrote), which I'll be selling for $20 per script (cash only) - autographed and personalized to the buyer's taste - on a first-come, first-serve basis, starting with the Young Justice signing at 6pm Friday evening.
So if you're in the vicinity, plan to be there. As you all know, I'm not big on SPOILERS, but I'm WAY, WAY more likely to tease a few things in person than I am on either Twitter or here. So come and be (slightly) better informed!!!

What was your favorite line you said when you voiced Snapper Carr?
"O-mega..?"
I know your probably sick of all the Wally questions but..
Was it hard for you to kill off Wally? And when making/recording the episode did any of the cast end up crying? Cuz I know the fandom did plenty of that...
It wasn't an easy decision. And we all got quite emotional about it.
Hi Mr Greg,
I know this is a wired question but I'm so curious. You voice cast Lucas Carr in Young Justice. Do you get pay for this character or you cast it for free? Is this only your interest or consider of saving cost?
I was paid. It's a SAG (i.e. a union) show. No one works for free.
Hello,
Also i would like to ask one thing: if you were allowed to pledge for a kickstarter for the gargoyles 3d movie, would you have the orginal voice actors reprising their roles? I love keith david's voice as well as David Warner who played the archmage and jonathan frakes as xanatos.
p.s do you keep in contact with the gargoyles crews and voice actors and other actors you worked with on other shows?
1. Kickstarter aside, if I had another chance to do Gargoyles, I would of course go back to the original cast whenever possible.
2. I'm in contact with many people from the Gargoyles cast and crew. Thom Adcox, for example, is one of my best friends. Same for other series, as well.
Why were Wentworth Miller and Kittie recast?
They were not available to record.
Hi there Mr. Greg!
Love the show and I'm hoping it gets picked up for more seasons.
My questions are:
1. Why did you replace Wentworth Miller as Deathstroke? I thought he had a great voice.
2. I love the animation and the fight sequences do you use a fight choreographer for those?
Thanks for your time.
1. Wentworth wasn't available.
2. We beat up storyboard artists. (Just ask 'em. I'm sure they'll confirm.)
Why was Wentworth Miller replaced by Fred Tastaciore?
Wentworth was no longer available to us, but Fred did a great job, don't you think?
Was Queen Bee's design based off of Marina Sirtis? I see a slight resemblence.
No. She was designed long before we cast the roll.
Hi Greg...Me again...
I just wanted to say that thus far "War" has made it to be one of my favorite episodes. I really felt you went all out for this episode. So many characters, so much battle sequence, a deepening plot with the Light and the Reach, a lot of fun with Karen and Mal (Why did you go for guardian instead of the Herald?), really interesting sequence with Blue Beetle, amazing emotional outpouring from Arsenal, and of course Keith David! (How cool was it getting back again? Did you guys talk a lot about Goliath and Gargoyles?) I still rack my brains trying to figure out how you will solve this...All I can hope is that with so many heroes down, Wally will be making a big comeback (well at least that's my biggest hope for the rest of the season).
I really wanted to know, was part of War World inspired by the Death Star/Star Wars?
Anyway magnificent job. I'd keep writing praise, but I'd run out of room. This was terrific!
Guardian fit our continuity best. And, frankly, I think he's a stronger, more iconic hero. Herald never really did that much for me.
Keith and I are friends, and our families see each other socially every once in a while. So I don't need a recording as an excuse to talk old times. But it's always great to see him, and it's always great to have his amazing talents on any show I produce.
As for the inspiration for The Warworld, you'd have to ask its creators, i.e. Len Wein and Jim Starlin. They also created Mongul in the same two-parter (DC Comics Presents #27-28). We got Warworld from those comics, and if you take a look at those issues, you'll see we used Warworld in very much the same manner as it was originally presented.
What colour are Tye's eyes, exactly? In "Beneath", they were brown, but "The Runaways", they were either blue or grey- I couldn't tell which.
By the way, I think Virgil, Tye, Eduardo Jr and Asami deserve their own show, Never have I loved supporting characters so much in my life- I think the excellent voice actors chosen for them helped big time.
While we're on the topic of voice actors, I can't say how happy I am to see Janice Kawaye in an American cartoon again after goodness-knows-how-many years. I've been a big fan of her since Captain Planet, and when I recognised her voice coming out of Asami's mouth I couldn't help but let out a silly little squeal.
1. I don't know.
2. I'd love to do a show around these or any of the Earth-16 characters. Heck, I'd do a Professor Ojo show if they'd let me.
3. I agree the voice talent on the runaways, Janice included, was top-notch!
Hello yet again, Mr. Weisman. This is the first of three consecutive posts (REALLY hoping I won't be blocking up the queue). For this post, my questions revolve around Roy Harper (both of him; three if one were to count Jim).
1. After the the clones (Red Arrow and Guardian) were force-grown to whatever age the Light needed them to be, they subsequently aged at a normal human rate, meaning that Red Arrow is (as of Team Year Six) biologically 23 or 24, and Jim Harper is physically 29 or 30. Am I correct in assuming this?
2. Once it was discovered that Red Arrow and Guardian were clones, did the League and/or the Team take measures to remove the programming that left them vulnerable to the Light's control? If so, what measures?
3. When did Guardian discover that he was a clone?
3a. Is he aware that he's a clone of Roy Harper, rather than Jim?
3b. For that matter, what's the status of the original Jim Harper? I would assume that he's dead, but I have no way to be sure.
4. Now that he's found the original Roy, has Red Arrow rejoined the Justice League?
5. I've noticed personality differences between Arsenal and Red Arrow, some that are subtle, some that are... less so (for instance, I can't really see Red Arrow risking the outcome of a mission just to spite Luthor). These differences are, I think, the result of the vastly different life experiences of the two Roys. Was exploring the ways that experiences can shape a person's personality part of the plan when you (and, I'm assuming, Brandon Vietti, and probably several other writers) devised the whole "Roy Harper clone" plotline, or was it just something you all realised would come up after devising the storyline itself? I mean, experiences changing someone is all a part of character development, but I'm referring to how the different lives managed to produce two very different versions of what is essentially the same man (Cadmus programming for Red Arrow notwithstanding).
Also, I'm happy to say that I received a set of Gargoyles DVDs for Christmas. The show's every bit as good as I remember, and Keith David's performance at the end of Awakening Part I was some of the best voice acting I've ever heard.
1. At the start of Season Two, Roy is biologically 23. Jim is biologically 30.
2. Yes. Miss Martian made the first pass on Roy. Both Miss Martian and Martian Manhunter subsequently scanned Roy and Jim.
3. More or less immediately following the events depicted in "Auld Acquaintance".
3a. He is now, yes.
3b. He's long dead.
4. He's continued his leave of absence. But for a very different reason. Right now he's focused on being a dad.
5. All of the above.
6. Glad you liked it! Can't say enough good things about Keith.
Hi!
So in a previous post I said I wouldn't ask a question, but it turns out I have one about the production/voice recordings. When Nolan North is doing an episode of Young Justice where is playing both Superman and Superboy, does he record their voices in the same session? Like in Auld Acquaintance when the Supes have interaction did he record both of them? (PS I checked the archives and I didn't see if anyone had asked this)
Generally, we record all our actors together and proceed from the first line through to the last. SOMETIMES, if an actor has more than one character he or she may prefer to do that one character first and then the other. But Nolan has a pretty complete command of Superboy and Superman. So, as far as I can recall, he'd just talk to himself.
Black Beetle sounds different. Did you alter his voice this season?
This season? He's only appeared in the one season, i.e. Season Two. And no, Black Beetle is voiced consistently through Season Two by Kevin Grevioux. And I just want to say that we don't alter Kevin's voice at all. THAT IS HIS REAL VOICE!!
Has my dad been an alien this entire time? Because, to be honest, that would explain some things...
>Mind frying due to unwanted crossover imagery!<
When Josh Keaton recorded his bit for Black Spider, who else was in the studio?
Are there "secret" recordings you guys try to keep under wraps?
1. I don't remember.
2. Huh?
Is your writing of Snapper Carr in any way influenced by the fact that you know that it's gonna be you playing him (the question may also be applied to Donald Menken in SpecSpidey)?
Probably a little. But that's probably true of every character that's already cast. We learn to play to our actors' strengths. (Of course, I have very few strengths as an actor, so maybe that doesn't apply to Carr or Menken.)
Hi Greg. I was wondering if you could provide the voice credits for the following minor characters from Season 2 thus far?
S02E01: Happy New Year
- NYC Police Officer (who tries to stop Lobo)
S02E02: Earthlings
- Rannian Science Patroller #1
- Rannian Science Patroller #2
S02E03: Alienated
- Hall Of Justice Tourist
- Manta Sectors 1, 2 and 4
S02E04: Salvage
- Arlington Nuclear Power Plant Security Guard #1 (male)
- Arlington Nuclear Power Plant Security Guard #2 (female)
S02E05: Beneath
- El Paso Bus Depot Clerk
S02E06: Bloodlines
- Central City Police Captain
S02E07: Depths
- Manta Trooper
S02E10: Before The Dawn
- Reach Captive #1 (male with long hair wearing cap and red shirt)
- Reach Captive #2 (blonde male wearing beanie and white shirt)
- Reach Captive #3 (female with a hair bun and yellow shirt)
And are the Kroloteans performed by voice actors or sound effects? If they have voice actors, would you mind sharing who provided the voices?
As always, your time and replies are greatly appreciated. Looking forward to the second half of Season 2!
The only place I keep that kind of information is on the hard copies of my recording scripts, and unfortunately, at the moment, those are boxed until I can find the time to go buy a new file cabinet for my Beverly Hills office.
Do you have a favourite Jesse McCartney song?
Can't I love them all equally?
You say that while making the Gargoyles comics you like to pretent to cast a voice actor in your head. (or something like that.) With that in mind, did you "cast" anyone as the voice of...
1) Hawkman
2) Selena Gonzalez
3) Psycho-Pirate
4) Henry Yarrow
5) The Collector of Worlds (AKA Brainiac)
...in the Young Justice comic book series.
1. I haven't written any issue where Hawkman speaks.
2. I didn't write that issue.
3. I didn't write that issue.
4. Charles Hallahan. (I realize that's not a practical choice, but that's who I heard.)
5. Patrick Stewart.
When Crispin Freeman voiced Speedy and Red Arrow in Satisfaction, does he get paid for one or two characters? Technically they are separate characters, but one's a clone of the other.
They are two characters, but we get two characters for the price of one, per SAG rules. (We get a third character for a small additional fee. But if we want a fourth character, it's another full payment, and it all basically starts over, i.e. five costs the same as four, etc.)
YOUNG JUSTICE: INVASION: EPISODE: 212: "True Colors": Premieres!
A new mission! A new Teammate! And a new player in the game!! You won't want to miss our newest episode of Young Justice, premiering on DC NATION this Saturday (and Sunday), January 19th (and 20th) along with a new GREEN LANTERN and more new DC NATION super-hero shorts! Check local listings for times.
And also Saturday night on the SyFy Channel, check out this new original movie: TASMANIAN DEVILS, starring our own Miss Martian, Danica McKellar. That's right, the live-action Danica is kicking some Tasmanian ass and taking some Tasmanian names!!
Meanwhile, for those who have been wondering why I haven't answered many questions recently, here at ASK GREG, it's because I've (a) been out of town on a much needed vacation and (b) been swamped since I got back. I'll try to get back on the horse next week.
From all the VAs, Jesse McCartney is arguably the most famous/popular. How is it to work with him?
A pleasure.
In the episode Before the Dawn, was the big bad Blue Beetle of the future played by Eric Lopez, or by someone else?
Eric.
