Meant to leave a note after the first episode of Young Justice aired, but I missed the initial premiere in November, and then again when it started up proper, and didn't start catching it till the third ep.
All up to date now, and just saw Bereft. You guys are doing a mighty fine job on this one. Love the look, love the characters, love the action. As a long time of the Teen Titans and Young Justice, you're doing the teenage super team tradition proud.
Extra props on making a member of the Aqua family cool and not a joke. I realize the underwater characters have been done well in the comics before, and the Justice League cartoon handled Aquaman pretty well, but Aqualad was interesting right off. Love the glowy effects. Very cool.
Thanks, Robby. I really appreciate the kind words.
A Young Justice related question that, rest assured, is not fishing with poor bait.
I've been thinking about the Light lately and, without posting my own speculation, one thing I really like about them is how much the concept seems to embrace the inherent absurdity of the DC universe. I can tell from observation that the Light is probably a fairly diverse group of people (and rightfully so, as this uses the DC universe to its vast potential). And I can't help but be fondly reminded of the Legion of Doom, the villainous alliance from the Superfriends animated series.
Though the Light is written with a much more sophisticated sensibility than the Legion of Doom, I can't help but feel they have a strong similarity. This isn't a slant against Young Justice at all, because I feel the Light uses this similar dynamic to its own unique way that I absolutely adore. But I do have a question, and luckily it has nothing to do with your future intent or anything like that.
Was the Light, on some level, inspired by the Legion of Doom? That is, the Superfriends group of villains who operated together despite their vast differences in genre identity (as an example, Scarecrow the grounded criminal alongside Bizarro the mirror universe Superman in Superfriends). Or was such an organization just a logical extrapolation from the setting that wasn't really meant to homage this group?
Question received on Wed, October 20, 2010 11:06:14 PM
Clark Cradic writes...
Did you like the original Legion of Doom?
Greg responds...
As I mentioned before, I get all the names mixed up: Legion of Doom, Injustice League , Injustice Unlimited, Injustice Society, Secret Society of Super-Villains, etc.
I can't quite remember which group consisted of which villains and/or appeared in which series or story.
So the short answer is I like the idea of the villains teaming up, but I can't address the specifics without a more specific reference.
Response recorded on November 12, 2010
Took me less than a minute to find that, btw.
Anyway, they all blend together for me. I think the cartoon would have been less of an influence than the comics. But it's all in there.
Hi Greg,
I have been blown away with Young Justice so far â" it ROCKS! I think that my favorite episode so far is âDowntimeâ â" Atlantis was beautiful, the animators did an amazing job.
I have one question about Miss Martian; I donât think it has been asked, but if so, I am sorry for the repetition.
Why would Mâgann be admitted so easily by the Justice League into Young Justice when she had had previously never used her powers in combat? Robin, Kid Flash and Aqualad have had at least a couple of years of experience under their belts (and presumably Artemis as well), while Mâgann will have only had a monthâs experience by âSchooledâ. Is there a reason as to why she was made a part of the team so quickly?
Yes. Her uncle.
Hi, Greg. I'm a big fan, particularly of what you did with The Spectacular Spider-Man (I'm really gonna miss Sally Avril). I'm loving Young Justice right now but I've become a little curious about a couple of things.
1) Do you have a specific age in mind for Icicle, Jr ?
2) Do you guys have a full Atlantean language/code developed, or is it just really nice sounding "gibberish" ?
3) I love the Green Arrow - Showcase short that you penned and I was wondering, do you think that there might ever be a possibility that you'd work on one of the full-length DC Universe movies? It would be especially awesome if you guys ever got the chance to do a YJ tie-in movie.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and good luck with Young Justice. Hopefully, my questions aren't too annoying.
1. 17.
2. It's Ancient Greek with allowances for the fact that Atlantis has been separated from Ancient Greece for thousands of years.
3. I'd love to. IT'S NOT UP TO ME.
OMG i have been reading some of the unanswered questions and i dont understand why people are asking you these questions that they should know your not going to answer... i mean they should know you are not going to spoil the show
so my question is are you able to delete questions instead of answering one that is asking you to spoil the show?
I can delete any question I want. But that's not policy here. Questions are only deleted if they present original ideas.
I'm considering changing the policy. Haven't decided.
Fisrt off, I'd like to apologize for asking that Batman Beyond question that you responded with "No comment. NO COMMENT. NOOOOOOO COMMMMMMMENNNNNNNTTTTTT." and went on to say that you wanted people to stop asking spoiler questions. I'm really sorry and didn't mean to upset you or waste your time. I hope you can forgive me. Anywho, I just wanted to let you know that I love your show and your take on the characters. It just sucks that we'll only get to know them for 12 months (assuming every 26 episodes is 6 months and this show makes it to the 52 episode limit). I know this is a long way off, but is there any chance you intend or revamping it (like they keep on doing with the Ben10 series) of pitch other shows that happen to take place in the same universe (like the DCAU (We got to see that interpretation of Batman for 14 years!)), so we can occasionally see a YJ character or two every so often? If this question annoys you, I apologize in advance. Thank you for all the entertainment you've given me over the years. I really appreciate it, and hope you are able to continue for many more years to come.
All the best,
Mike
btw, I don't know if you celebrate it or not, but Purim is next week (and I assume with the last name 'Weisman' you are Jewish), so have a Happy Purim!
I am Jewish. Kind of a secular pagan Jew, but a Jew nonetheless. I don't generally celebrate me much Purim, but my wife does. So thanks.
As for your question, <sigh>... IT'S JUST NOT UP TO ME. As with nearly every show I produce, I have enough ideas to keep doing it forever. BUT it's not up to me.
Why does Goliath have a mullet? It's the least coolest haircut in the world. If you had to do it over again, would you pick a better haircut?
I don't see it as a mullet. Just as long hair tucked behind his ears.
And, no, I wouldn't change it.
Hey Greg! First off let me say I'm a huge fan of your work! I was just wondering if there is any chance of seeing Batgirl and Supergirl appear on Young Justice in the possible future? It would be really cool to see how the team would react to more young heroes popping up. Again, I'm a big fan and look forward to seeing where the show goes.
P.S.
Sorry if this has already been asked and I missed it in the archives.
"SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT."
Hi Greg
First of all, I must compliment the show on it's amazingly beautiful animation. It's like animated movie quality in every episode.
Anyway, I run a website called Behind The Voice Actors and am been the editor on the Young Justice page. Right now, all the characters displayed in the shows credits are on the site, but I was wondering if I could ask you if you knew who voiced these other unnamed characters?
Independence Day
- Fireman
Fireworks
- Dr Spence
Welcome To Happy Harbor
- Happy Harbor Police Officer
Drop Zone
- Kobra Member
Schooled
- Star Boston Driver
- Star Manhattan Driver (is he the one with the beard?)
Infiltrator
- Wally's School Teacher
- WayneTech Security Guard
- WayneTech Cafe
Downtime

- Science Center Guard (Kelly Hu?)
Bereft
- Scientist #1
- Scientist #2
And also one last question for my own curiosity. I was wondering if each of the Justice Leaguers that haven't already been voiced (WW, Hawks, Green Lanterns) will appear by seasons end?
Appreciate your time

As for your last question: "SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT."
Hey Greg sorry for the spelling mistakes in the past question.
Uh... okay.
Hey Greg, I noticed that the time difference between episode 8 and 9 of Youn g Justice gave Miss Martian and Superboy plenty of time to form a relationship. I at first noticed this when Miss Martian didn't blush when Superboy held her hand. And when Superboy was concerned about her safety, and that they almost kissed without hestation which most mean they kissed before. You guy will probably show what happened between Superboy and Miss martian while aqualad was in Atlantis in a comic book. But can you at least tell me if i'm right.
1.Will Aqualad be more creative when forming objects out of his water bearers like the Green Laterns Mabye creating a gatling gun.
2.I'm pretty sure we can confirm that Superboy apparantly watch comedies and that Megan copied her looks of the girl from the tv show and that her true form is yet to be revealed. I kind of like this idea because it could mean something with the Superboy and Miss Martian relationship on whether Superboy likes her who she is.
Because her true could be hideuos.
You're right about some things. Wrong about others.
1. Not really his style.
2. I don't think Superboy's watched many or any comedies.
First off, it's been enjoyable reading through your little Q&A's, second off, this little series youâre producing, Young Justice, is incredible. Only nine episodes in and itâs done so much for me, it was really what I needed to finally take a leap into reading comics.
My question is more or less about your personal opinion and how you see your characters rather than⦠what the heck is going to happen. Ha-ha, I think I can wait, save my questions until the first season is out of the way.
Fans have a tendency to sprinkle series with homosexuality, sometimes because it seems like something that could be âin-characterâ, other times because they think itâs something that looks âgoodâ. This has recently been the case with Young Justice, so, I wanted to ask, how do you feel about this? No so much on the level of right verse wrong, but more on level of your general opinion. Is there any character that you can potentially see as homo-, bi-, or âpanâ-sexual in the main cast? Why? Why not?
⦠Considering the ages of the characters, ha-ha, this is probably a warped question.
Youâre probably asking yourself âdoes this even matter?â
I think of all characters in sexual terms. Not exclusively, of course, but to fully get a character, you need to think about everything major about him, her (or it). And sexuality is too big to ignore, even if it's not directly addressed on screen. And that's particularly true of teenagers.
Having said that, it also wouldn't be too wise of me to express my opinions on such matters with regards to characters in an on-going, in progress series that is owned by a big multi-division corporation.
So, in short, I think it does matter. But I'm not putting anything in writing, I'm afraid. Not at this time.
As for the fans, I say, "Knock yourselves out!"
I have been reading the Captain Atom series and have to say great job for both you and Cary. I absolutely love it. The character is amazing when it comes to Captain Atom's powers and how he handles situations. I do have a few questions though:
1. Why hasn't the series been picked back up?
2. Did you help create the superhero himself? If so, what exactly?
3. Why has Captain Atom been featured in crossovers even though his comic has been cancelled?
4. Do you think Captain Atom would become more known if his series came back?
1. Ask DC. I've offered to do it.
2. Create him? No. Captain Atom was originally a Charlton character that DC purchased along with Blue Beetle, Peacemaker, Nightshade, Peter Cannon, Sarge Steel and the Question. But Cary, myself and artist Pat Broderick redeveloped the character for the DC Universe under the supervision of editor Denny O'Neil.
3. You'd have to ask DC.
4. Well... yeah, of course.
You can watch for a bit more Captain Atom in the new Young Justice companion comic, starting in issue #9.
hello greg
what can you tell us about Artemis' eyes cause I've been confused about them for awhile them whether they're brown or blue and since I've watched Bereft a million times because I recorded it I think her eyes were brown when Superboy was trashing the tanks and dark blue when she and KF were discussing the ninja boyfriend thing...
and seriously loved loved this episode; current favorite! I could've cried when it ended especialy since there won't be any new episodes for awhile
"ASKED AND ANSWERED."
Hi, loving Young Justice (though I'm still a little sadden that getting this cool show involved the cancellation of the best Spider-Man Adaption EVER! anyway...).
I have three questions (sorry if they've already been asked)
1. was Jay Garrick a member of the justice Society on Earth-16?
2. how old is Jay Garrick?
3. and in what years was the Justice Society active on Earth-16? (I'm presuming it was during WWII).
thanks for your time.
oh, and if you answer "No Comment" I'm going to assume that means "all of this will be answered one way or another at some future point on the show" if that's the case, sorry for wasting your time.
1. Yes.
2. 92.
3. 1940-1951. Though from 1941-1945, the Society expanded to become the wartime All-Star Squadron.
hello greg
my question is in the comics jackson hydes love interest is aquagirl but its lorena vasquez.yet in young justice its tula.i was supprised(yet not dissapointed) at this.im not asking if we will ever see lorena, but why was there a switch up in love interests, though kaldur and jackson have alot of other differences,i was just wondering.
also i was wondering how long the mid season hiatus would be because without yj i might commit suicide (joking)?
finally will there be a yj trading card game?
1. Kaldur was created before Jackson. Our plans never changed. But since Tula is long dead in the comics, one can see why that pairing didn't work for the folks at DC.
2. Don't know.
3. Don't know.
A question about Young Justice, does Black Manta know that Kaldur is his son? There was was a hint during the fight scene in "Downtime" but I'am not sure.
Yes.
Why are we having a repeat of young justice for two weeks?? It makes me sad :(
Scheduling is not my department.
1.In the episode Bereft why did that sphere thing help Superboy?
2.Will you tell me about the relationship between Superboy and Miss Martian?
3.Are Superboy and Miss Martian going to kiss in Young Justice?
1. They bonded over being tortured together.
2. What needs telling?
3. "SPOILER REQUEST. NO RESPONSE."
1) Is the sphere suppose to be the Super-Cycle from Peter David's run of YJ?
If yes, is the Supercycle, which had some sort of animal like intelligence in the comic, suppose to be the last of the YJ ongoing cast to be introduced?
2) Is this version of the Queen Bee human or alien?
1. "SPOILER REQUEST. NO RESPONSE."
1a. "SPOILER REQUEST. NO RESPONSE."
2. Human.
Will there be more shirtless Superboy scenes? Please say yes. :)
"SPOILER REQUEST. NO RESPONSE."
I just finished watching "Bereft". Another great episode by the way.
1. But when Miss Martian restores Superboy's memory there is a flash of her as a human in a cheerleading uniform. I've seen every episode of the season so far, and that never happened. So I was just wondering if there is an explination for Superboy remembering something that hasnt happened, or if there was something I missed?
2. When Kid Flash falls into the pool in the episode "Infiltrator" the side of the pool says "3.0m" or three meters. Was this intentional, or is it simply because the country that handles the animation uses the metrix system? (Just thought I'd ask cause I wasn't sure if I was the only person who noticed)
1. <sigh> And we were doing so well... "ASKED AND ANSWERED."
2. Well, I didn't notice. Or at least I didn't focus on it.
Bereft
Okay, this was what J. Michael Straczynski coined "a wham episode." At first glance, the entire cast getting amnesia is an old idea, but we got perhaps my favorite single episode of the series to date out of it. Revelations and teases ran wild in this episode.
Let's start with Artemis. It's safe to say that her father is a supervillain. And she was training under him relatively recently. In fact, she immediately assumed she was supposed to kill Wally. This certainly makes her more ominous, especially after her tense conversation with Cheshire in "Infiltrator." So what are Artemis and her mother doing living in a low rent apartment in Gotham when daddy is a supervillain, and Cheshire is a member of the League of Shadows? Curious.
And while I'm on the subject of Artemis, I absolutely love that when Wally doesn't remember her, or his biases against her, he hits on her. Often.
We also learn a lot about Miss Martian. I theorized last week that she learned about Earth from watching sitcoms, and it looks like I was right. Beyond that, she seems to have taken her human name, and her human appearance from a sitcom called "Hello Megan." And what seemed for weeks like a very, very, very annoying line and quirk is suddenly a plot point. It also lines up with Martian Manhunter learning about humans from watching cop shows. Although I am beginning to wonder if she actually is J'onn's niece.
But that lines up with something I've been enjoying about this show. In most team shows like this, only one character has a big secret that is damaging to the team. In "Justice League" it was Hawkgirl. In "Wolverine and the X-Men" it was Emma Frost. In "Young Justice" there may be more than one. Artemis has her secrets. There are definitely secrets about Superboy. Miss Martian seems to have her secrets. So far, Robin, Kid Flash, and Aqualad seem to be on the level. The only secret Robin seems to have is his secret identity.
So, in this episode, the team is assigned by Batman to locate alien technology that appeared in Bialya. Bialya is a rogue state ruled by a dictator calling herself Queen Bee. Well, she must be ruthless and dangerous to be a woman who has managed to rise to power in Africa or the Middle East. On that note, I find the timing of this episode's broadcast hilarious considering that Bialya is a near-anagram for Libya, especially considering the revolution that's taking place over there, which we all hope will be result in the toppling of Muammar Gaddafi's regime. But, I suspect Queen Bee will be far more than Muammar Gaddafi with boobs. But I'll get back to her in a moment.
Psimon made for a fun and creepy villain. I loved the psionic battle between him and Miss Martian. I love how this show makes minor villains feel like a dangerous threat. It happened with Lord Kobra and Sportsmaster. It happened with Black Manta and Professor Ivo. Now Psimon.
Of course, at the end, he reports to the Light. Specifically, he reports to L-4, voiced by Demona herself, Marina Sirtis. Hmm... Marina said a year ago that she was playing Queen Bee on this show. Queen Bee was mentioned by Batman as the ruler of Bialya, and now we hear Marina's voice behind a Light silhouette. Yeah, I think it's safe to say we've got definite confirmation on L-4's identity. Nice to see Marina Sirtis isn't being wasted on a one-shot villain, but being used as one of the Big Bads.
But the real surprise was the ending. Was that a Boom Tube? L-4 mentioned a new partner, and his delivery system. Alien technology was being delivered to the Light through this Boom Tube. I think it's more than safe to say that the Light has allied itself with Darkseid. The stakes have just risen exponentially.
Yes, a definite wham episode.
I'm not sure how you're defining "minor villain"...
When I said "Should they consider making another Buzz Lightyear movie?" in the last question, I wasn't referring to Toy Story 3. I actually meant "In your opinion, do you think Tad Stones, Bob Schooley and Mark McCorkle should consider reuniting and make another DTV Buzz Lightyear of Star Command movie?" Sorry if I didn't asked the last question clearly. BTW I still remembered The Adventure Begins movie.
I'm fairly sure it's not up to Tad, Bob and Mark, but of course, it's not for me to speak for them.
Since Starro couldn't have fought JL because he was just recently dicovered what was the reason that JL was formed or will it be shown on the show?
It will eventually be revealed. (But when was Starro ever the reason the League formed?)
i really just wanted to thank you for not spoiling every single detail of what you and your team have spent so much time creating. i like the way things have played out so far and i look forward to seeing what's in store for us viewers. one of the things i personally enjoy the most is how each week i find things i do and do not like about each of the show's main characters. i feel it's much more realistic to see them grow and change during the course of the series. i really admire that quality about this show. thanks again. :]
Thank you!
1.What can you tell me about the relationship between Superboy and Miss Martian?
2.In the episode Bereft when Miss Martian was restoring Superboy's memory's in one of the images she was in a cheerleader uniform in a place that looked like the locker room of a school. Where did Superboy get that image from?
2b.Was it a dream Superboy had about her?
3.Why does Miss Martian like Superboy?
1. I think it mostly speaks for itself. Or will, as episodes air.
2. That was from her memory. They were melding, as she removed the blockage that Psimon had placed there.
2b. No.
3. Beyond what I've already said, I'll leave that for the viewer to interpret.
Hello Greg,
I'm really intrigued by the budding relationship between Miss Martian and Superboy. Their attraction to each other seemed pretty immediate, particularly from Megan's end. Is it merely physical? Or do you think these two have a deeper connection they haven't quite figured out yet? In any case, can you please give us a little more insight on what compelled you guys to pair these two particular characters together?
I think it began with a physical attraction, but I believe it's deepened since.
As for why, it felt right, and some of the why will become clearer as the season progresses...
Hi Greg.
I've been stalking you...err.. I mean.. I've been stalking your work ever since Gargoyles (which clearly, in my opinion, was an excellent series - it had lots of little writing and directing type decisions that I always appreciate in a show.. the key of which being continuity to plot, previous episodes, character actions/decisions, etc all staying true to how it's been developing/evolving.).
Heck, I come to ask greg on a weekly basis just to see what sort of neat little insights get tossed around in your answers regarding various projects you've been involved in.
And these days I find myself enjoying YJ as one of the more quality shows (animated or otherwise) that's on right now. It's fun not just seeing what happens, but how and why it happens, and then the story/character evolution that happens thereafter.
So I just wanted to take a moment and (on behalf of myself and anyone else who thinks like me) say thanks for another quality show!!
((Sorry, I don't have a question. I know you so desperately wanted on. But, alas, this is just a compliment and thanks, so you'll have to deal with it :) ))
Hey, I'll take praise anywhere I can get it. Thanks.
Dear Mr. Weisman, my question is simple, are you doing, or are planing to do more work on gargoyles comics?
If given the opportunity. I need a publisher who has the license from Disney.
Hey Greg, I have been enjoying "Young Justice so far. The Light (who are Project Cadmus' Board of Directors) seem to be the main villains so far orchestrating some of the villains on their side to carry out missions for their research. When on Cartoon Network Video and/or your recent responses, they had revealed the voice actors for the as-yet-unidentified members of the Light. It was stated by both you and the credits that Miguel Ferrer voices L-1, Oded Fehr voices L-2, Mark Rolston voices L-3, Roger Craig Smith voices L-5, and Nolan North voices L-6. That leaves the voice work for L-4 and L-7 in the upcoming episodes. One of the latter two sounded like a female when Psimon was reporting to them at the end of "Bereft."
In "Downtime," the beginning of the episode featured a simulation between Young Justice and Clayface with Batman jumping in to taser Clayface. Unfortunately, it wasn't stated which version of Clayface was used. I don't think it's the 3rd Clayface or the 4th Clayface. Do you know which version it was?
I recall that in the comics, Superman's DNA wasn't the only DNA used to create Superboy. It was mentioned that the other person whose DNA was used to create Superboy was Lex Luthor. Will there be any mentionings and/or discoveries of this in later episodes?
L-4 is Marina Sirtis.
That wasn't a simulation with Clayface. That was an actual battle. And it's Hagen.
Okay, I just want to say that I never watched Gargoyles as a kid. I was a baby when it came out so I never even heard about it until I was a teenager. But after hearing about it, I wanted to watch it right away. Eventually I became a huge fan and devoured the entire first two seasons in a relatively short period of time. Afetr watching the first episode of Young Justice, I was hooked, and then I found out that who was working on it but none other than Greg Weisman himself, creator of the series I fell in love with not a month prior. I honestly love Young Justice, the darkness, the way it takes it's audience seriously even though they're children and don't try to dumb things down or make everybody speak english even though they're foreign.I love the characters and really get a kick out of seeing them interact with one another and I absolutely love the acting. I have just one problem with the show. "Hello Megan!"...I hate this. Despite other annoying bits that I can ignore, this makes me absolutely HATE Megan. I realized after thinking about it that I really do like things about her personality and she's smart and useful, and she and Superboy are cute together so I don't have a problem with that. It's just that ONE thing that makes me hate her and hope she's the one that dies this season. If it were not for that little quirk she has, I would probably love her, but everytime she does something cool and I think "She's not so bad", she just HAS to say it and kill my respect for her all over again. Just, please, I know you're not the overlord of the writing staff,(Then again, what do I know? For all I know you could be the supreme ruler of penguins and I would be none the wiser.)but can you PLEASE realize how much this one little sentance fragment makes my sister(and fellow fan) and I become filled with rage towards this otherwise sweet girl. I really don't like that I hate such a nice character but whenever she opens her mouth and spews out that catch phrase, I just can't help it.
Actually, I am pretty much the "overlord of the writing staff". ;)
But (a) all the scripts are already written and recorded, so it's too late and (b) I flat out don't care that you don't like it. I like it. Some fans agree with me. Some fans agree with you. But "WE LIKE OUR SHOW." And we have our reasons for it being there.
And now - I'm DONE TALKING ABOUT THIS. I've gotten the message. I'VE GOTTEN THE MESSAGE! A very vocal group of fans hate the catch phrase. I don't. And I'm not going to suddenly change my mind about this. And -- even if I did -- it's TOO LATE TO CHANGE THINGS. Beating me up about it won't help you and will only annoy me. (I mean, did you really not see that like 20 people had addressed this ahead of you?)
So live with it or don't. I'm not asking you to like it. But stop asking me to respond to any critique of it.
"ASKED AND ANSWERED."

"ASKED AND ANSWERED."
All right?
First off, I LOVED "Bereft"; probably my favorite episode so far. I have to give a special thanks for the innuendos and whatnot, I was scared this show would get castrated by censors or something.
Anyway, I happened to notice that when M'gann restored Superboy's memory, she conveniently left out the part where he hates telepathy and having other people in his head, which was biggest mental obstacle between them. To make this even more disconcerting is that Superboy will never know it because he only remembers what she wants him to.
So... will this ever be addressed? M'gann has so much potential as a character since we now see she bases herself completely off of a television cheerleader. The implications are interesting, since we all know that people in tv are unrealistic and wouldn't exist in real life. Will M'gann ever learn to become her own person?
Please. It's NOT like you saw EVERY IMAGE from Superboy's memory. So why assume that just because we didn't show THAT scene that it wasn't restored.
Besides, you seem to be assuming that she PUT those memories back in his head. She didn't. She just removed the blockage that Psimon had put in. Memories came flooding back for both of them, and that's what you saw. But again, we'd have been there for hours if we showed ALL his memories.
Don't twist things to make this nefarious.
As for M'gann - "SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT."
Which episode is timedancer?
I don't understand the question. Check the FAQ. That might help clarify things for you, and if you're still unclear than you can repost the question offering more clarity for me.
I was just wondering, how does the team feel about Robin keeping his identity secret from them even though they are open about theirs? And how does Robin feel about keeping it from them? Also, does Wally know Robin's identity? I just got that vibe that he knows, plus Robin was okay with mentioning that the Amazo parts were heading towards his school to him in "Schooled".
1. I think they're fine with it generally.
2. Basically fine. It's like a game to him, mostly.
3. Yes.
hey Greg, can you spoil the plot of every episode of Young Justice for me?
thanks.
COL.
(That stands for "Chuckle Out Loud".)
Thanks, you brightened my day, slightly.
Anyway, on to your question: No.
Not so much a question as a realization-
Now that Artimes's civilian identity is revealed I realized the one and only story I've read with her was a recent hero/villain team up- she with Icicle teamed with Jessie Quick (as Liberty Bell) and her husband Hourman. She and Icicle are either married or common-law and it is revealed are desperately trying to get their hands on a magical artifact because she is pregnant and Icicle's birth killed his mother. Excluding that last big reveal, it was a fun light hearted romp of two couples on opposite sides finding themselves teamed up but not trusting each other.
I have no idea if their relationship is long standing or a One Year Later thing, but it is a fun little irony that the show has she and Wally set up as the couple with romantic heat, while she is paired with part of his Rogues Gallery in the comics.
Aren't parallel worlds kooky?
Hello Greg!
First of all, I would just like to say that my family and I are really enjoying Young Justice. In particular, I like how the show is introducing old characters to new viewers. Dr. Fate never interested me in the slightest before, but now I am willing to give the character another look, just because of this show. Also, your artists deserve extra praise for the variation in character body types in the show. Kid Flash looks like a runner, and Aqualad is built like Michael Phelps. Keep up the good work!
Now for my questions...
1. We have been shown the world where Aqualad lives in Downtime (my favorite episode). With whom does he live? I know that Kaldur'ahm has a close relationship with Aquaman, but is it close enough for him to live with the king and queen of Atlantis?
2. I really loved your introduction of Dr. Fate and the concept of the Lords of Order and Chaos. It was an interesting change to see Klarion as a Lord of Chaos, it fits well. Is there even the slightest possibility that Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld will appear in this show?
3. Is there any way that fans can obtain the promotional posters of the different characters, or just the pics of the posters from Young Justice? The designs were awesome.
I will be grateful for any information that you can provide, thank you.
1. He doesn't even live in the same city as Aquaman. As for who he might or might not live with: "SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT."
2. "SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT."
3. I don't know.
Hi Greg, just a question about the beginning of "Downtime" --
Was the fight against Clayface real, or some sort of holodeck-like training simulation? The scene transition made it hard for me to figure out.
It was real.
1.Wan you talk about the relationship beween Superboy and Miss Martian?
2.Does Kid Flash know Miss Martian has a crush on Superboy?
3.Why does Miss Martian like Superboy?
1. I don't know what you're asking here?
2. No.
3. Lotsa reasons.
You answered that most of the time Superboy sleeps in a bed, but in Young Justice #0 he was shown to prefer Wally's closet over a bed. Is that going to be explained or was that a goof your end?
It wasn't a goof. That was his FIRST NIGHT out of a pod. Over time, he starts sleeping in a bed. What other explanation do you need?
And, hey, RUDE MUCH?!
OK Greg so I know its none of my business obviously but I was wondering what sort of legal issues could you be talking about when you said Todd Jensen will approve the questions and just who the heck is Todd anyway I just wanna know
Todd Jensen is a Gargoyles fan, whom I've known on-line for over a decade now and met in person at the 2001 Gathering. He's a VOLUNTEEER, who has kindly agreed to vet questions for me to make sure no one is posting an original idea that I could get sued over. If you want more information on THAT, how about you actually READ the main Introduction page at Ask Greg, which spells all this out in detail:
http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/index.php
You know, instead of cluttering up the queue by asking a question you could have EASILY gotten the answer for faster elsewhere.
1) There's been a wiki debate over what color Artemis' eyes are, would you be so kind as to tell us what her eye color is supposed to be?
2) In earlier promotional clips, Artemis clearly had blue eyes, but in the show her eyes are darker, which makes her look more Asian. When was the decision made to change the color, who made the decision, and why?
1. According to our Color Stylist, James Peters, her eyes are dark grey, almost black.
2. Promotional artwork NEVER counts. It's not always even done by the series' crew. I, personally, don't ever remember her eyes being blue. But I just looked at a poster on my own wall, and sure enough they're blue. Clearly, an error -- or it was done before we had locked colors on her or something. (Remember, she didn't actually show up until episode 6, and her colors didn't need to be locked until then.) There was no decision to CHANGE her eye color, because the first time any actual decision was made, it was decided that she would have dark eyes.
Hey greg why does Todd Jensen approve a whole bunch of questions if you're just going to say no comment. I guess this question is really meant for both you and Todd, so Todd if you're reading this please approve my post I got to know
Todd's (VOLUNTEER) job is NOT to edit questions, but to kick out questions that break the rules that protect me legally. I don't think it's fair to Todd to ask him to ALSO make editorial judgments about what questions I will or won't answer.
The "No Comment" responses could almost entirely be avoided if people would post with some degree of common sense. That's on them, not on Todd.
Will Wonder Girl ever be introduced in Young Justice
"ASKED AND ANSWERED." AND "SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT."
Crap, my internet got interrupted and I accidentally cut my question in half. Sorry. Here's the first half:
Hi Greg,
I'm really enjoying YJ so far
1. You mentioned before that episodes 103-108 would focus on individual team members. By my reckoning:
103 - Miss Martian
104 - Robin
105 - Superboy
106 - Artemis
107 - Kid Flash
108 - Aqualad
I feel like Robin and Artemis got jipped. It could be that they had less character development because they're some of the most secretive members of the team, but I hope they get extra coverage later. By the way, as of 108, episodes 105 and 107 have been my favorites.
Well, I don't agree that anyone got jipped. Least of all the audience. But I'm getting the sense that my sensibilities are less in line with the audiences' on Young Justice than on any series I've produced prior to this one.
It's not like previous series didn't get complaints, but...
Well, it's less fun, but I guess it comes with the job, and I do like the job, so I can't complain - much.
I haven't asked many "Young Justice" questions before now (probably none), largely because I don't have cable and thus wasn't able to see the show. But I wanted to thank you for answering one question in the course of the two-part opener - though I learned it second-hand in the Station 8 comment room.
While I'm not a DC Comics expert, I've heard from various sources about Cadmus Labs - and when I heard of it, I began wondering almost at once if its bearing the same name as the mythical Greek hero who was Europa's brother, slew a dragon and planted its teeth to produce a crop of armed warriors, and founded Thebes, was intentional or coincidence.
Then, during the discussion in the S8 comment room of "Independence Day", in which Cadmus Labs featured, I learned from one of the other posters (who'd seen the episode, as I hadn't) that the characters in that episode of "Young Justice" pointed out in the story that the name of the labs was indeed intentional, comparing its secret experiments with Cadmus sowing the dragon's teeth.
Now I don't know if that line was your idea, or someone else's; I don't even know if it originated with the "Young Justice" production team or if DC Comics had already come up with it. But I'm glad that that question was answered, and want to thank you for that.
Cadmus goes back to Jack Kirby. I'm sure he was quite aware of the mythological reference, or why else would he chose that name?
Hey Greg!
1) When you said there would be major character deaths, does that include JLA members too?
2) Will there be any other members joining Young Justice?
3) If #2 is correct what will be the first episode to include a new member?
4) In the comics Martian's have super strength. Do M'gann and J'onn have super strength in YJ?
5) Does Aqualad know Black Manta is his father?
6) How old is Wonder Woman?
1. I don't think I ever said that. I think what I said was that no one was safe and that death was something the characters would have to deal with. But to your question, death could potentially take anyone, and the JL is not immune.
2. "ASKED AND ANSWERED."
3. "SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT."
4. Relative to a normal human, yes. Less than a Kryptonian or an Atlantean or an Amazon, but more than a typical human. Of course, it also depends on what form him or her is in and thus the current level of his or her density.
5. No.
6. "ASKED AND ANSWERED."
If Artemis is Artemis Crock does that mean Sportsmaster is Lawrence Crock?
As opposed to...?
Hello Greg. Just wanted to thank you for the interesting depiction of Aquaman's world in Downtime. I've never found it terribly exciting in other shows, but it looked gorgeous and seemed to be more than a generic monarchy culture like I'm used to seeing.
Also, the switch to English was clever. Thanks for the laugh!
You're welcome.
