Why was Wally denying magic so much in denial? writes...

Okay, I'm really sorry for asking you this old question from a old episode, but this kinda bugged me when re watching the series xD.

I realize Wally is a man of science, but considering Zatara, someone apart of the Justice League is a magic user, why didn't he believe in magic?

Greg responds...

I think he explained that effectively in the episode. I have nothing to add, except to contrast how he was feeling at the beginning with how he was feeling about it at the end - when (despite what he said aloud to cover) he had clearly had a change of heart about the whole thing.

In the episode Cornered, it was April 1. You have previously mentioned that this was the day the Graysons died. A huge number of Grayson fans were hoping to see some anniversary-related footage. What made you decide not to show it/hint at it? In comic books, Batman/Nightwing take the anniversaries of their families' deaths very seriously and still show sadness about it. I get that you'll probably say that Dick mourned off screen/that there isn't time to show everything, but I'd like to ask if Wally or anyone else contacted him/comforted Dick. You'd be helping a lot of fangirls out by answering ;) Thanks for an amazing show.

Greg responds...

As you noted, there wasn't room to do justice to such a HUGE topic in the episode, so we decided to leave that to your imaginations.

Hi, greg
Why did the reach chose to use young people such as teenagers for their experiments over the meta-gene?

Greg responds...

Couple reasons:

1. Runaways wouldn't be missed.

2. A certain biological elasticity that comes with not being fully grown yet.

Dear Greg,
Took me a while to get to the newest episode of YJ, and again, wonderful job. Your Despero was certainly different from most versions I've seen, and I gotta say, I liked it. Also, I enjoyed L-Ron, Virgil displaying powers, and Mal becoming Guardian. However, my favorite part was Billy trying to fry Despero with the lightning and failing. I've seen that trick used everywhere since "Kingdom Come", and it's nice to see it not work on someone for a change. I'm also liking how The Reach are using all the League's secrets against them. I also like the implications that Conner & Megan might reconcile. Looking forward to the next episode!

Greg responds...

I don't think there was ANYTHING in "Cornered" to suggest reconciliation. Just knowledge that comes from them having been together for a long time and knowing each other very well.

But I'm glad you liked the episode.

I've been going over some questions and it seems to me that it can be really irritating answering them sometimes. So this isn't a question, just a huge thank you and I really enjoy all the effort that's been put into the show. I've never seen anything like it, it's amazing!
Thank you!

Greg responds...

Thank you!

I am writing an article about unproduced television spin-offs that found new life elsewhere, and Bad Guys was one of the first to come to mind. The website I'm pitching the article to requires that all source material be citable.

1. Is there any citable reference regarding Bad Guys, particularly when you were first planning it as a television spin-off and the plans fell through?

2. If not, are you able/willing to give an interview over the phone if requested?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Greg responds...

Well, you can start by looking at the ASK GREG archives under Bad Guys or the various Redemption categories:

http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/archives.php

If you still want a phone interview, you can contact the site administrator, Gorebash, and give him your contact information and your credentials, and he'll pass them onto me. And I'll try and figure out if you're legit. (Though the fact that you didn't even look at the archives before posting doesn't bode well, frankly.)

And of course, since it's been nearly three months since you posted this, the whole thing may be moot by now. So it's all up to you.

Hey Greg,

Wally's current situation on the show -- sitting on the sidelines and only knowing about "the plan" because of Artemis -- pretty much sums up his existance on Young Justice in my opinion. He's really only ever relevant to the story through his relationship with Artemis, and none of the other characters on the show entire worth rests solely on another character. They've all had their own separate storylines/character arcs that was/is completely about them. Wally is the only exception. And it doesn't help that the show has made it pretty clear that Artemis would be better off without him, too.

I like the characterization of Wally quite a bit, but it just seems that he brings nothing of substance to the show. And it's even worse this season as he's contributed absolutely nothing, and has been replaced by the far more important and superior character in Bart.

So what is it about Wally's character that you guys don't find as interesting as you do the other members of the original team?

Greg responds...

Wow. I don't agree with ANY of your assessments. None of them. So, although you're entitled to your opinions, I can't answer your question, because the premise of it assumes I agree with you, and I don't.

What I will say, is that in Season Two, Wally was a supporting character, not a lead. Then again, the same was true of Superboy, who by your logic one could argue was only there as a foil to Miss Martian. I don't agree with that either, but I don't see why you're singling out Wally and not both of them.

why scarab not recognize Aqualad bomb as reach bomb, if it came from reach?

Superboy And Megan Are Virgin ?

Greg responds...

Sigh. I'm really hoping that English is your second language, in which case, I know I should make allowances. (Cuz if it's not - and as a former English teacher - I find the sloppiness of this post truly annoying.)

Anyway, as of when?
